04-Dec-23
Time to let this series go. It has run its course (it was a long course). No longer interested in placing and maintaining geocaches.

28-Sep-23
Parked at the pool. Walked the track. Found the mud and got tired.

13-Sep-23
Started on the Plantigrade series this afternoon. This was a quick find along a pretty Hansel and Gretel path lined with tree roots. The log container and contents were soaked but we could still sign thanks to the drypaper roll. Thanks day1976

13-Sep-23
Out for an afternoon of caching with pinnacle333.
A gorgeous bush track to GZ. Cache very wet. Thanks day1976.

21-Mar-23
Nice little creek walk.
Tftc

26-Feb-23
Great spot

14-Feb-23
Went for an afternoon walk with the wife and dogs for valentines day.

Container isn't very sealed and the log book in the canister was wet. So probably needs replacing I reckon.

TFTC though, it wasn't where I first thought it would be.

30-Jan-23
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".

So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

**Thanks to day1976 for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

03-Jul-22
Yep, lots of mud Smile Thanks

24-Feb-22
While the log is a bit damp, the paper is still able to be written to.

TFTC !

22-Jan-22
Up early before the snakes (hopefully!) to find a few along this trail. I think this is the only part of the trail we've never explored. Thanks for bringing us here

10-Dec-21
Thanks Day1976, It's my Friday treat, find a cache on my way home from work. The track is a little lacking in care, but a beaut little gully. The cache was a little damp despite the double containers, but the log was some kind of waterproof paper. Need to get some for my caches.
Regards from vic

04-Dec-21
Still muddy thanks

10-Nov-21
I was on my own today after doing a bushwalk in the area. Interesting small track here. I have been on a lot wetter and messer than this one and love it. Container has water but log book still writeable. Thanks for the cache day 1976

01-Sep-21
Thanks for the share took the misso out to find it

17-Apr-21
Easy find. The log was dry but the container was full of water. Really lovely spot (mud notwithstanding). TFTC!

22-Jan-21
Set out for a walk from Sassafras to Butterfields and return
Didn't quite make it to Butterfields as time was getting away from me (spent way too much time admiring the magnificent trees and ferns!)

Found this one at 11.30am after a brief search
The track is generally in good condition at present (other than the blowdowns)
Love the muddy patches, adds character to the track and it is the Dandenongs after all so you've got to expect wet conditions

All in good nick. Many thanx to day1976

02-Nov-20
With the lifting of restrictions, I am enabling some of my caches.

27-Mar-20
Nice walk

27-Mar-20
This cache will be disabled until the COVID-19 crisis is over. Please refrain from finding this geocache.

27-Dec-19
After work I took a short detour on the way home to grab this cache. A nice little walk, logbook was a bit wet but since its a waterproof one it should be fine.

23-Dec-19
Out for a Plantigrade multi walk and looking for the traditional caches hidden along the way. I remember walking past this on an Oxfam training walk and promising to come back to have a look. Took over a year to get back and have a look. Cache was found tucked away but some water had got into the container. Log was fine to sign though. TFTC day1976

20-Sep-19
Out with FitzelFleas and child. Lovely local find. TFTC

13-Sep-19
I had the morning off work and so I decided to try and get some more of the traditionals if this series. I walked down from the top here and was able to make the quick find. The cache was full of water but the inner seemed to be play for now. Tftc

21-Aug-19
TFTC day1976. Found yesterday. Nicely placed. First and second log containers were full of water. Emptied, dried a bit and signed, thanks to the mainly waterproof log sheet. Jimmytherat

14-Apr-19
Logbook wet attempted to sign. Tftc

Nice, easy find. Log was wer, but still possible to write on. TFTC

10-Mar-19
Quick find unfortunately log full of water so unable to sign

10-Mar-19
Got it thanks. Log is saturated and unsignable. I had a spare ziplock but no spare log sorry.

25-Dec-18
Great trail..we loved it. Secret garden. Tftc on Christmas Day

09-Sep-18
I am out and about here for training the second leg of the Oxfam walk. This a lovely path to train along. The time goes so fast been around the large trees and hearing the flow of the creek.
I did have a bit of advantage this time. With the CO next to me it did make this a quick find.

11-Jun-18
We came over to this side of town so I could have my second attempt at the Lyrebird Track Challenge Wherigo followed by a picnic somewhere in the Dandenongs. I may have managed to complete the Wherigo in time but I will never know as some software glitch meant that it didn't register properly. Oh well, next time.
We drove around the Dandenongs marveling at the crowds of people up here on this crisp winters' day and ended up just up the road from this 'cache in a much quieter picnic spot and an after lunch stroll was just what I needed to stretch out my legs after that hill climb.
As we walked the track looking for a particularly muddy patch, we both reminisced about childhood memories of mud and fun. Funny how they always go together Smile
The cache was a little tricky to find but we managed eventually, depending heavily on the hint, and soon headed back to the car without too much mud on boots or clothes.
Thanks

28-Mar-18
Found with NikLibSteph. Nice walk, would never have known this was here. Log and container are wet.

27-Mar-18
We'd finally got our eye in for caching today, and were keen to add another smiley to our list. Can I say, we loved this one! The short section of the walk is just beautiful - our kind of environment that reminds us a little of walking through the Grampians or the Otways. The squish of the muddy sections was also a highlight!
We loved the surprise of the little creek - which probably wouldn't have surprised us if we'd paid more attention to the map when we'd set off!
Not being familiar with the area it took a bit for us to find the best place to park to start the search. (Although we reckon it's definitely worth the trip back to do the whole trip on foot)
After the brief walk, we were met with a quick find amongst the blackberries, so we have a few scratches to prove we were here.
The log is damp but we were able to add our names to the list. Water was emptied from cache container. Next finder might want to bring a cloth to dry it out a bit more.
FP from us for the beautiful location - just what we need as a stress relief

21-Mar-18
Found on 21 March 2018 at 3:12:52 pm. Find #2585. Crappy damn blackberries and damp log with broken latch.
Needs replacing and i didnt have another on me.
This one is absolutley overgrown with blackberries and needs to be moved i think.

Thanks for the adventure.

Prickly!!
But found, sorry for late log

14-Jan-18
A quick find in an obvious location.

We found our entry at the top of the Dryish log inside the film canister.
We signed this in January 2017 but forgot to log it.

The Cache itself is extremely wet inside and the original log is full of mould and stinks. The culprit being 3 mouldy chestnuts which have been removed.
Also there is a clip broken off one side of the lid allowing entry of moisture.

TFTC

20-Dec-17
Oh that stump! The one with the blackberries that scratch your legs when you wear inappropriate clothing whilst geocaching. Ha ha! It took me way longer than it should to find this fellow, but I eventually logged the find. tftc.

03-Sep-17
Today we explored Emerald and surrounds using Geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. Mrs "T" worked out the co-ords and came up with GZ. An easy find. Our GPs matched the co-ords of the tablet.

Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

08-Jun-17
Found this one on the way home from a job. A nice little walk down what looked like a little used track. I found the cache, had signed the log and had just replaced it when a little old man scared me coming down the path carrying some old tree fern fronds. I stood quietly and he walked on by without noticing me Smile

Thanks day1976 for another fun detour

29-Apr-17
the mob who say ok!

05-Mar-17
Great little GZ. Good spot. Old, wet logbook inside is making the GZ very damp. Fun to get to do one by myself for a change. TFTC.

Last one for the evening, once again, just as well shortstop was available. Found with ShortStop00 and emma.sunshine96. TFTC

17-Jan-17
nice cache. little bit of a trek to the cache and figuring out which stump, but overall a good cache. TFTC. logged as SS00. found with mazymay and emma.sunshine96

17-Jan-17
This one took a little time to find as there are a few stumps that look like suitable candidates for geocaches... beware of blackberry bushes and sword grass... they are a very painful combination if you aren't cable...
the cache itself is a little wet and soggy but other than that it was a good challenge.
Found with: ShortStop00 and Mazzymay

02-Jan-17
Unable to sign due to being on a run - nice break from regular gym routine. Anyone running/ walking in this area may like to consider trousers as lots of spikeys are out! TFTC

06-Nov-16
Did I read the cache name, yes, did I understand it, yes, do I know what mud is , yes.. So why did I wear thongs.. Log is a little damp, oh by the way so are my feet.. Tftc

11-Sep-16
Cache maintenance performed by TeamThommo. Aren't they awesome? Thankyou so much!

15-Aug-16
I dropped in here while looking at other bits and pieces and can confirm that the track is indeed rather muddy at present. The cache isn't nearly as 'micro' as I was expecting (I obviously hadn't read the description, which describes the container quite unambiguously) and was found rather swiftly. The log itself was instantly recognisable as the TeamThommo contribution that it apparently is! Thanks day1976!

05-Aug-16
Found this afternoon while grabbing a few caches in the area, well this one lived up too its name as the way to the gz was quite muddy and the cache was soon spotted by my caching bud and on the way out I slipped and fell on my butt. Luckily no harm to me or my dignity as I kept it on the quiet and no one noticed, thanks day1976 for the cache.

Out and about with Happy Pants on a Friday afternoon.
This cache really lived up to it's name. Whilst walking the track, Happy Pants spotted some deer tracks. Log signed and shoes destroyed!

2:02 PM #1970
A gorgeous sunny day for Mark&Kelly and I to be continuing our Plantigrade expedition.
After spotting a likely location, it was I who spotted the nicely hidden cache.
The original log was quite soggy, but the newer one is damp, but signable.
TFTC. Smile

17-Jul-16
Found it! Out and about with OHC today to knock over some more of the plantigrade series. We were expecting a little more slosh underfoot for this one but when we arrived at GZ we realised the name referred to the inside of the cache rather than the surrounds.
What proved to be an easy find turned out to be a bit of a struggle to sign as the original log book is pulp and the replacement is a tad damp also. A few days of warmer weather will probably fix it but today was not one of those...TFTC...Smile

21-May-16
Waterlogged. Needs a dry out

21-May-16
Damp forest, damp log. Lots of fun fungi though!

21-May-16
Omg the fungi. TFTC

10-May-16
Clever hide, very muddy but fun!

03-Apr-16
It was very nice in here but I think the area could do with a bit of help - quite a few noxious invasive weeds in amongst the nice bushland. Not much mud today and thank goodness, no leeches. Thanks for the cache we enjoyed the short walk.

06-Feb-16
Hubby had to do some work in the area for an hour...hmmm Great excuse to cache in this beautiful weather. Left him and went bush walking near where we got married to get this cache. The kids love throwing leaf boats into the water and watching them go with the current through the rapids. Again there are a lot of weeds near, that do not belong in this country. Thanks for the cache day1976. was concerned that this one could not be found but used a bit of common sense and soon found.

29-Dec-15
Thanks to Team Thommo for replacing the log book.

27-Dec-15
Found it! Another post Christmas walk and cache hunt! Holiday's are great! We did some serious walking today as we are building up to the annual Walkabouter's High Country Camp in the Victorian Alps. This one took a while to find as I initially overshot the mark. I was just a bout to give up and one last look and the cache was in hand just where the hint suggests but deeper! TFTC SL Smile

26-Sep-15
First cache of the day and made a huge mess of myself. At least Team Smokey Bear was there to have a laugh and rescue me and my shoe. Thanks for the cache. Was hilarious as i am screaming and muggles were around the corner at a picnic table. Eep haha

26-Sep-15
Oh my goodness I didn't realize that this cache would have me in fits of laughter... Mud all around the area and caching with Swobble that's where it begins. She made such a mess of herself with literally getting stuck ankle deep in mud. Not only did she do it once but twice lol made my day Smile tftc

23-Aug-15
Out and about with the geowife on a hunt in this nice weather before we head out to the cookoo for dinner tftc. Easy find tftc

08-Jul-15
We couldn't find it...searched all around. We were all over that stump!! Covered in mud...but that's part of the fun

27-May-15
Quick easy find - log dry

23-May-15
I did a full lap of the (rather large) block before deciding which way to tackle this cache. Decided to approach from the top which worked quite well. One more Monbulk cache crossed off. Thanks for the cache.

22-May-15
I'm a little bit OCD and prefer even numbers too odd.
Yes I realise this cache is apart of a series but GeoGranni and I just wanted one more and it appeared to be doable from a quick roadside park. I think she talked me into it as she wanted to poke around amongst the ferns near the creek.
Now what was I saying about even numbers...
"Oh that creek crossing looks okay I could just pop one foot in and leap across" WRONG - TWO feet fully in up to my calves required"
"Oh that small log doesn't look slippery" WRONG it took two attempts to get over. I should have had a smaller lunch! Both knees in my jeans now MUDDY.
"Oh that small hilly bit looks easy" WRONG slid on my ass TWICE!!
Okay Granni I'll sign the log for you wait here and watch Geo daughter .. Slid on my ass another TWO TIMES!!!
Fell over at GZ Twice!!!
There is a pattern here and I SHOULDN'T go caching in regular flats which are now stuffed.

Thanks Day1976 despite the whinging and stupidly it was an enjoyable cache that gave us a giggle.

22-May-15
As per other logs the log is saturated, I have now added a stone paper log in a film canister to cache. Your welcome (:

22-May-15
I was on an adventure with my daughter and granddaughter today when we pulled up to this interesting place. Knowing we were on the wrong side of the creek I didn't expect we would get a smiley today, I should have known my daughter better! She was soon across and soon covered in mud. I was far more sensible and played good Granni babysitter with Eden.

TFTC Day1976

02-May-15
Sorry Day - there's no ziplock bag in this cache so the logbook is sopping wet . . . We poured the water out and signed as best we could.

02-May-15
Yay - it's really nice to turn this one into a smiley. Not so nice to have to log a needs maintenance. There was no ziplock bag so the logbook is sopping wet. Our seven year old made the find by himself and all the boys had fun climbing over the massive fallen log and slipping through the mud - what more could you want in a family caching adventure?

18-Apr-15
Left the husband with the bad back at the car for this one. And I took the prickly route down. Nice compact hide! TFTC

05-Apr-15
Yes it was muddy even though at this point we've had very little rain, looks like we were the first ones to sign the new log since it has been replaced - tftc

05-Apr-15
Having another long weekend at Mt Evelyn and doing some more Dandy Meandering. Foung quickly by Ling while Tezzon and I were still viewing our electronic gizmos.

23-Feb-15
Replaced cache with a sistema. Will update cache page shortly.

20-Dec-14
See Plantigrade for the full story.

GZ is intact, but now the path goes around it on both sides. So the little man surely found himself in a muggle's grasp. I did do my bush turkey scratching imitation around GZ to see if anything shiny turned up. But there is mud here. Bison sucking mud.

Thanks Day for the text confirmation at an inconvenient time for you.

Looks like this one needs some maintenance.

16-Nov-14
Sorry day1976 we did try. The fallen tree does look quite fresh but seems to have fallen in front of where GZ is according to our GPS. We followed the hint and were sure we had the right spot but no cache to be found.

02-Nov-14
Seems like a big tree has fallen where the cache was supposed to be... Or has that fallen tree been always there?

Found as Nicnax with SciFiRulz and WeRAmused. TFTC. Sister was looking all over for the cache and I was staring strait at it:)

Nice easy find.
Enjoyable muddy track!

17-May-14
Easy find once I took over from Geokids then took some nice photo's of the creek.

17-May-14
Found the mud and the cache. Thanks Day for the cache.

17-May-14
After my brother cancelled the dirt bike riding in the Bunyip state forest today because he was sick I headed out and accompanied my caching buddy TurnerFamilyFTG to start on the massive Plantigrade hiking cache. It was beautiful autumn weather and we couldn't have asked for better. We also picked up a few other caches along the trail on the way.
After finding mud on the track I knew we were close, I mentioned on approach it was on the left and before I even got to GZ, TurnerFamilyFTG had already found it. I must just be along for the company and hiking support!
Thanks day1976 for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

03-Mar-14
There was no mud here today and again the hint was most appreciated, as, not surprisingly, the GPS was all over the shop, even with the extra satellites invoked.

22-Feb-14
Out and about with Dunko on a separate task, Managed to spare some time to find a few caches. As always an enjoyable adventure with many thanks to day1976 for the time and effort in placing this cache. TNLN SL

22-Feb-14
Well today I had to do some errands for she that must be obeyed and because this required a vehicle bigger than I had I asked my caching buddy Slink1 for his assistance. He freely gave is and said Great we’ll get some caches on the way. So off we went doing some caching and doing some errands as well. Many thanks to day1976 for the cache placement. TNLN TFTC SL.

Found @10:04 #3310
Have had my eye on the Plantigrade cache series since it was first published and keen for the challenge of walking to its end in Cockatoo. Well today was the today and although the weather was not perfect it was good enough and after some short rain spells in the morning by lunch time most of it had passed. The track itself was easy with mud in sections as well as some sections being creeks of flowing water. On the hike today with me was Ahomburg and after starting at 9:30am we got to Cockatoo by 6pm, total distance of approx 30km with an average speed of 3km/hr. There was some nice hides and great scenery along the way. This was one of a few caches found in the series today.

During the hunt it was pouring and after checking a few spots the hint was used and soon the cache was in hand. Log quickly sign while also keeping it dry somehow and then we were off to the next one. Muddy indeed....

Date: 23 November 2013
Time: 10:04am
Find # 3374
Streak: 115 Days

After a last minute decision to ditch a plan to head to Licola for some hill climbing with my caching mate SedgwickDave, but after checking the weather, and overnight camping trip may not be too much fun with 90% chance of rain and Gail force winds. So we headed towards the "Plantigrade" multi to see how much of it we could do as it was intended, on foot.

The rain was now torrential, which made the use of our smart phones almost impossible. Our GPSR's were still working fairly well and with the use of the hint, the cache was found after a short search.

Thanks to day1976 for the cache. TNLN

22-Nov-13
Found at 8:43 AM GAFF1. We were pleased to see that there are now some caches in the area. We are staying at our daughter's place just up the Monbulk-Olinda Rd and while going into the city for the day to do some shopping we stopped to do some of them.
This one turned out to be a tad more tricky than anticipated as we went straight past the hiding spot (GPSr was still showing 8 metres) even though we targeted it from above Sad. Had to come back and have a proper look Red Face.
Didn't realise that there was a track along the creek here!
Thanks day1976.
