I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

Hi bumandworker

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

This morning I had remembered that I wanted to have a look at the Wainui Falls before I leave tomorrow.

This one was the first of a few (5) DNFs today. Found a tree with a rock at its base within the required distance from a sign but there was nothing under the rock. No other trees had rocks or caches at their bases.

Walksabit and I are continuing our tour of the South Island by travelling north along the west coast. We left Cape Farewell this morning and are heading to Motueka. Grabbed his cache on the way to the falls. The falls are sure spectacular and well worth the walk to them. Thanks for placing a cache along the trail.

Found with NZDi. After spending the past month or so stuck at home preparing our house for sale, the looming long weekend called for something special. So three nights were booked in a motel in one of our favourite places... Pohara and early on Friday morning we headed across the hills (firstly the Whangamoas and then the Takaka Hill). We didn't get off to a great start being held up slightly with a flat battery... perhaps I should have taken heed of what the AA man said a few weeks ago when he did a call-out to my address for a similar fault and bought a new one. Fortunately I have become self-sufficient in the flat battery rectification stakes and this was rapidly rectified. Knowing that we were going to a few out of the way places on our weekend endeavours and note wanting a similar experience, I purchased a new battery as we went through Nelson (I couldn't do it in Blenheim because we left too early).

The plan for the weekend was to do some caching in the Golden Bay area on Friday and Saturday, celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary on Sunday with a little more caching but some more traditional anniversary activities, and then do some more caching on the way home. Today's mission was to collect some of the caches in the Canaan Downs area at the top of the Takaka Hill.

Our caching around Canaan Downs was cut short when we discovered we had a flat tyre and decided we needed to get it fixed before everything shut up shop for the long weekend. This gave us some spare time in the evening before darkness set in to find a few more caches a bit closer to Pohara where we were staying. The last time we did a caching visit in this area, the track to Wainui Falls was closed for maintenance, so we took the opportunity of an open track to get the caches up here. This was the first of three found and was a QEF thanks to the hint.

Taybeedragon, Zara and I are on a three day sojourn to Golden Bay, courtesy of the Queen. Happy birthday Liz!
Another nice little walk, always better than being cooped up in Zara all day. Found the cache 10m from GZ, which is a little unusual for this CO. maybe it was cloudy / rainy as well as in the bush when this cache got placed. Nice swimming hole!

Here we met a norwegian woman, who had fallen in love with a kiwi. And the were on vacation together to find out if she should move to NZ or he should move to Norway... I think the largest question was: Who is able to move away from your kids?

This weekend us capperz are over the hill to Golden Bay and celebrating. It's our wedding anniversary on Friday followed by my 50th birthday on the Saturday. So we looked around for a decent place to go for the weekend and the potential of this beautiful area won out (this time). Only grabbed the one cache on the Friday night (there was much drizzly rain and poor visibility) trip over the hill(s) so there was much anticipation for what was next. Both the Saturday of my half-century milestone and the Sunday were bathed in golden sunshine and the temperature was perfect; neither too hot nor too cold.
Day 2 and a few in and around the region before we head back over the hill again. I had a plan which required me to get a sample of sand from Wainui and would be rude not to go look for the caches to the waterfall too.
First up here and just sludge in the bag. Removed the sludge and can the next finder please add a piece of paper for others to sign please

No time to go further than this cache today but we will return. It was a very pleasant walk to GZ on a familiar track although we haven't been here for a few years. The coffee and bun after the walk were even more pleasant given the weather and time of day.
Thank you bumandworker.

This is a place I know well and leads to one of my favourite places. It's been a while but the more things change the more they stay the same. Plenty of cars on the car park coming and going. Along the track "that" swimming hole still looks the same. The find was simple and the coffee and buns after a welcome sustainer. Thank you bumandworker

The rule for the day of finding caches neither KE nor the SoBad team had found had already been broken a couple of times. Broken again here - well we were walking right past the site on the way to a new cache. The track was reasonably busy so Mrs Sobad read the hint for a quick find. The log was signed and the cache returned before anyone walked past.
Thanks.

Just home after our Golden Bay camping trip from the Marlborough Sounds. It was not a caching expedition but we did manage one or two Big Grin. We were travelling with our camping group who, although not cachers, joined in the fun. Our travels brought us to your cache – many thanks, bumandworker, for bringing us to this spot. We’ve had great fun all the way.

We saved this walk to do with our hosts after another successful Golden Bay Bridge tournament the day before.
However, there happened to be a fairly important rugby match on earlier and our hosts decided to go back to bed while the intrepid cachers chose to venture out into the cool early morning air.

We did our best to get to DOC's parking coordinates but getting to within 70M of this cache was the best we could do.
A quick find and sign.

Quick find at the start of our walk to the falls after the track had been closed for repairs. What a great family friendly, (and grandparent friendly) walking track. Thanks for the cache.

Found today. We decided to take the short walk to this one while in the Wainui area. The track still is closed despite the notice saying it will open at the end of September, much to the disappointment of several groups we met a short way along the track . Found the cache then walked back to the car park. TFTC

Was surprised to see the plastic tape and track closed sign here and was a bit cross that there wasn't one at the carpark. However on the way back out there was a huge sign saying the track was closed till the end of September. Don't know how I missed that but very pleased that I did because I wouldn't have gone any further and this day really hadn't turned out great in caching terms. The waterfall will wait till the track's opened again. TFTC #7288

today we started a nice trip to the Abel Tasman Nat.Park. First we walked the Grove Trak, then we had a short stop at the Abel Tasman Monument, after that we had a walk to the Wainui Waterfalls. Further we drove to Totaramui. On our way back home we stoped in Pokara for a nice bath in the ocean. On this daytrip we found a lot of caches. Thats to all owners from Germany.

Well Christmas Day 5:30am and I'm awake!!! only problem is the rest of the house isn't!! So I sneak out the door put on my walking shoes, and stroll up the road and fill in some time finding a Christmas Cache or two. The cache is soon found then off up the track a bit more then I head back, arrive at the house at 8:00 am and dads up getting the bread maker going, Michael's listening to a CD on his walkman. Pretty sure the pop of the cork coming out of the bottle got the attention of the rest of them eh. A very pleasant way to kick off Christmas Day. Cheers and TFTC

Out for a long day's caching in the Bay with Kiwi Explorer. CoolCoolCool FTF CoolCoolCool We were surprised and pleased to find a few unfound caches among the bunch that we got to today. FTF number 7 and the final FTF for us today. This was a real bonus as we'd even taken a break from caching for a well-earned coffee and snack back in Takaka. Last time I was near here I'd meant to take a walk to the waterfall cache but ran out of time. Today it was time to find this and the two other cache I hadn't found on the track. Last time I actually walked the track was to find the old and now archived cache that used to be on the other side of the river. No need to get wet today for any of these cache though. TFTC, Biggles.
