Been here many times now and cache obviously gone.

This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

Been here a few times to try and find this, but each time we come up short. Had all of us looking for the "hidden in plain sight, orange, but not orange anymore" cache - nothing. Starting to think maybe its gone.

Out walking the dog so had to grab this one while here. Dog nearly dropped his ball down the spillway!! Stupid Mob Dog is his designated name now (SMD.) A few ducks and geese on the lake. TFTC.

We made a picnic on the shore of this dam. One car was in the parking lot, but the crew was asleep and did not give us the slightest attention. After we walk over dam crest and watched the water level. Black swans sailed on water.

Found, 3 ducks seen, lovely area to spend the day searching, wheelchair access achievable but assistance needed and makes out for a good workout!! haha.

I have done the Russell Rd to Trig to Whau Valley dam loop as a training run many times, never knowing about geocaches. Now I do, so I took this route again today to see how many I could find. With the clues was a straight forward find thx. A pair of Paradise ducks with 7 ducklings was there as well as one black swan. # 10 on the loop today. TFTC

We missed this one last time we were out here. The heavens had opened up so we just sat in the car having a cuppa. The weather was a bit overcast today and off we went. An easy find with a dam fine view. Thanks for the cache

We got back from cache hunting in the other direction, had a cuppa and then it poured down. Didn't fancy a wet dash so we waited in the car for a while before deciding to leave this one for another day. Thanks anyway

#560 A cache I have been meaning to grab for a while. TFTC(that was a dam easy find).

I'm back in my home town of Whangarei for the holiday period and, after eating too much on Xmas Day, decided to go out on Boxing Day afternoon for a few short walks and to find a few caches. After visits to Hurupaki Mountain and Pukenui Forest this afternoon, I headed up to Whau Valley Dam, to do the short walk and find the caches there. After a short stroll along the dam, this cache was a nice quick find. TFTC!

Stopped by with a new log sheet. Find our cash Whangarei ended here today.

Found what I assume Is the cache (Orange container with flower on top) but was open, lying on the ground, and empty. Had a bit of paper with me so used this as a makeshift log. have rehidden this where I'm guessing it was meant to be. Might need an owner check. Lovely spot though. First time visitor. Thanks for placing

Plenty of birdlife. Australasian Harrier having breakfast on roadkill, swallows, chaffinches 40+ waterfowl of various species, songbirds, fantails. No time to linger unfortunately. TFTC.

Found quickly with a fellow cacher

The first find today while waiting for Liz to pick Jared and I up after a hike from Maunu. This one was found with the help of some fellow cachers, as always it is great to meet others who are involved in the sport.

Walked straight past it! But found the little sucker anyway. tftc

Heaps of people up here today,must be the good weather or the aftermath of the Kamo Christmas parade.Quick find, spotted two Paradise Ducks and another duck with three ducklings.Used to catch a few trout around the right side at a secret spot.TFTC.

Looked in the obvious place, but it wasnt there, so looked in the next two spaces and there it was. TFTC. Beautiful day for caching... pity I have to go to work... Only 13 caches to go for 1000... MEGA here I come.

Would have to agree. Yes it's the best dam view as you wonder along to gz thanks. Few ducks on the Dam enjoying a nice quite paddle .

Came up here today after my hockey game. Wow this place sure has changed since I was last in the area. I used to have riding lessons at the farm on the left as you enter the dam reserve and we used to ride up here afterwards. There were no fences back then! Great fun for two kids on horses!

But I had never really explored the area so it was a great idea to place a cache to encourage others to visit this spot. There was one angler, trying his luck, several dog walkers and people just sitting admiring the scenery. About 8 ducks on the dam today.
