Searching searching 2 little helpers but no such luck. Maybe we are circling the wrong rakau. Will try again some other time. Now to relax in the sun.
Batteries in GPSr went flat just as we approached GZ, so we hunted but failed this time around. Will call back with fresh batteries (put some in pocket, maybe?) and try again.
While Better Half &Co were at the playground I went to check on this cache. It is not in the place I remember it to be. Sadly I have no replacement of this size with me.
The 3 of us circled this tree so many times, it didnt want to make itself known to us today.
Up early this morning with HKCB for a last caching roadtrip for the year and a chance to complete a number of missions that we had set ourselves.
Left Hamilton at 2am (it was about to be quite a long day), the day was at a much more reasonable hour by now aswe made our way into early afternoon.
This was our fourty fifth cache of the day and having met up with Alpenmilch80 earlier.
Having completed many of our days missions that we had set ourselves including collecting a confluence point, a 5/5, a 4.5/4.5, D=4 cache and dinner event to celebrate the CO's birthday it was time to grab the last few before we headed south to our accomodation for the evening.
THis was the third following dinner and a short scramble and the cache was signed and returned.
Thanks for the placement, THanks for the cache

A little while ago an idea was thrown about to head north for a final caching roadtrip for the year. So along with C&D a rough plan was formed with a certain few caches, a confluence point visit, an event to attend, and the rest of the plan was to be made up as we went along. So with a 2am start Saturday morning in Hamilton it was going to be a long weekend. Also Alpenmilch80 had decided to join in on the fun as well.
After a great meal to celebrate Riser's 30th, we had just enough time to grab a few more caches before heading to the accomodation for the night. Was a little lucky on this hide as after a quick hunt arount the hint item focus on a few spots and put my hand right on it. It's such a pity when human progress dictates that these old trees have to go. Thanks for the hide.

On a geocache hunt together with Cats&Dragons and HKCB caching our way back from Whangarei. It was a great day on the road with some very good cache finds . TFTC
Circled and Circled.. The gps had me even prescribe a perfect octagon around GZ as i humoured it wandering around in the bushes 10m to the side.. thought i better check that the very obvious location wasnt the decoy.. it wasnt.. the GPS was just frankly lost in whangerai...
Noting that many others had found assistance having little people with them i shortened the tallness of the alligator closer to ground level and it was much more successful ... wow the beauty of simple camo that is hardly no camo at all.... make sure you put it back every one!,... log dry.

Haha, Courtney, I get your comment now. An easy find with mini me today. The rain held off and so did the van load of children, so yay. Hoping for five more finds today, but will depend on young master Bandit. Mander park has an awesome playground, including a proper seesaw, so will definitely come here more often. Thank you riser5
Was good to stretch the legs on my lunch break and enjoy a walk through this beautiful park while nabbing another well hidden cache quite a few good hiding spots here to keep you on your toes!
6.10am - Visited this the previous night only to find 2 guys smoking illegal tobacco right GZ. This was an easy find today. SLTFTC
I was just about to use google to search what the hint meant, so I sat down and what do you know....I was on the cache! Coords were about 9m off, but that's ok....I found it
This here really took us some time:
- first our GPSr deceided to no longer work, needing us to try to get it to work again (laptop out, recreate PQ, etc, etc) and
- then the hide was really tricky for us (we did not expect it there and like that).
But ...
we had to go for it, being clearly the closest to our Motel in Whangarei, especially as this was the last of our motels in 6 weeks in NZ.

On our way home from a week in the beautiful Far North and doing a couple of drive-by caches on the way. We have stopped at this park several times in the past for lunch and to let Kiwiscot play. Love the new upgrades and will definitely be stopping here again. Needed the hint to locate hide. TFTC
Wonderful park for kids. Very impressive tree. We
did a hunt around and I spotted the cache tucked
away. Had to wait for a muggle to pass before
retrieving. TFTC. ;D

Another DNF avenged. Thought I'd looked in every nook and cranny for this one but obviously not. Needed my keen eyed caching buddy instead of the kids who just wanted to go back to the playground. A wonderful old tree. We used to live nearby so remember the old row of trees but I'm all for roading improvements. TFTC
Took a while, but we found it...our 12yr cacher is on fire!!! He's found most of em...
Had trouble with the app jumping all over the place.
Used a little geocache experience to sniff it out.

I "stumbled" on this cache (even though I already knew it was here)... LOL, several people saw me grab it & got excited because they thought I'd found the FOCW CASH. but NO, the prize was hanging up in the leaves of another tree. I figured the cache would go missing if someone else found it so put it back in place after the Cash was found & hunters departed. Wow, they have made a lot of improvements to the playground!
Wasn't where you'd expect to find normally. My compass went nuts and I realised I was right on top with yomama76
#349 Exploring all hideyholes we somehow missed it on the first and second pass, but eventually the cache was in hand. TFT(playground)C.
After DNF-ing this one back in March (while cache was missing) it was great to make a quick find with all the family on this one as we arrived for a whizz-bang visit to Whangarei on our way to the far north.

Nice park - still working on the upgrades - I don't think the truck driver with a load of top soil was watching. Nice place to shelter from the intermittent rain today. TFTC
Still getting our heads around where to look but eventually found it- really enjoyed it!

Dug around for a few minutes looking for this one. Worth getting the nails dirty, great park.

This park is so much tidier with all the improvements. Cache quickly found. TFTC.
Looking for a variety of caches today for the August challenge. No problems with this one . TFTC
No luck with this one today. Seemed like it should have been an easy find, but it wasn't to be. Spent way longer than I should have on this one.
The sixth day on a geocaching holiday away to the north.
More good finds today around Whangarei.
Soon had this cache located.

Found as part of my Post Mega northen road trip. Really enjoyed a part of the country I hadn't seen before. Thanks to all those who have placed cacahes to encourage us southerners to come your way!
Lovely weather so lots of families at this park therefore we could not stop on our first walk past gz - too many muggles. Luckily on our way back more luck, so quickly found. TFTC
Found this one with MB jr after a play at the park. It took a bit of finding and we got sticky hands from the sap in the tree! TFTC
What a magnificent tree! Lovely park. Nice to be able to get at least one cache while here for a conference. Thanks
Sure was a shame they had to cut those lovely old trees down ...well, did they really? it seems new ones were planted a mere meter away?! But the new landscaping & playground is looking lovely & it was nice they used timber from the cut trees to make furniture for the park.
Had some time to kill while the car was in workshop; the park was quite busy with landscapers & children, but luckily a heavy downpour came which quickly cleared them all out ! Once the rain let up, it was a very quick find before it got too busy again, as the cache was out in the open. Took advantage of the new bark to cover it up. TFTC

Lovely park. So nice to see this beautiful tree still there. Quick sign and off thanks.
Another quick find! Have admired the restoration work that has been done in this area since they widened the road. They have done a great job on improving the kids playground area too.

Nice quick find as the end was exposed. Signed and replaced while in the light shower.
Was working at a new Yoga studio across the road the other day and new there was a cache there but had no info. This time I was armed with the GPS and found easily, very popular playground.TFTC.
Out with 2 of the grandchildren placing a few caches to add to the numbers for 31days of caching and they had definitely earned a finding reward. Haven't visited here since the park has been upgraded and what a great job has been done. Lots of families here with their kiddies enjoying the playground. Nice quick find for the cache , Impressive GZ, then the boys enjoyed a spin and slide. TFTC.
