After a day further north we got back to Whangarei around 5 so I took the opportunity to get a few more caches in the southern part of the city. Saw some good birds on the river at the end.Parked for the nearby virtuals and a quick stroll across the road to this spot. A quick find here - do like this type. Pied Cormorant was an addition to my trip list here TFTC Riser5

Ducked under bridge and on to here. We know there must be some puzzle final 161 m in the other direction... sure enough, about 20 minutes later there was a duh moment and we returned to the very same carpark...!

Quick stop in Whangarei for lunch and 3 hours later we stopped for this one while doing adlabs. On to Paihia now.TFTC!

12-Nov-22
Since we had parked up fairly close for some ad lab spots it would have been rude not to walk to this one at the same time.

Nice quick find.

Thanks for the cache.

Day 2 of our three day Geocaching trip to Whangarei. This stage included a large loop to the East of Whangarei picking up solved puzzles and some Old School Caches. We signed the log as BBIC for Bruzie, BFG, Infoferret and CrystalFairy.

Spotted the cache before we were even at GZ. Quick log and onto the next one.. T4TC

I'm on a road trip to the far north, attempting to complete the PWGT Tahi Geotour.

This is day four, touring around Whangarei via Cape Reinga. In the company of barefootguru, InfoFerret, and CrystalFairy. Signed logs as "BBIC" for brevity.

Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC

Found before heading over the bridge.

08:44 Day 2 of a 3 day expedition to the areas north of Auckland with Crystal Fairy and Barefootguru, (joined today by Bruzie) most logs signed as BBIC to save space and time. The focus of the trip was to find a number of puzzle caches solved over the last couple of years, plus other caches of interest we passed.

The hardest part of this one was finding some parking, as the park run was in full flight...

TFTC Riser5 for placing this cache, number 11902 for me.

After an early start in Nelson I’ve arrived for a couple days to visit a new work branch. And where there’s a new work branch there are new caches to be found.

Some time to kill before needing to be at work, so I had an hour or so to walk around this end of the Basin and revisit the fantastic, iconic bridge.

OK, so I *really* need to call things quits now and head to work.

"But there are so many more, MSEBN!" I hear you say.

They'll need to wait for now, but there's just this one more. Happily, it was not where I feared it might be, or indeed thought it might be, but just where I expected it to be.

Thanks Riser5

Found it laying on the ground as the magnet had come detached from the piece.

Picked it up put it back together as best I could and since the logs were so wet and unsignable I added a new sheet into the mix, it’s waterproof paper so it should last a fair while.

Thanks!

With very few muggles around at this time of the morning, we decided it would be a good idea to collect some of the inner city caches. We parked up and strolled the area to collect a few of the caches. Unfortunately, we did not have any log paper with us and this caches log was mush. Took a photo as the log was unable to be signed - will require maintenance. TFTC

After completing the two virtuals nearby and getting my 12,000th find we decided this would be the last find before leaving Whangarei. This is my first visit to Northland and I will be back, I already have a plan forming in my head. I have absolutely loved every minute of the last 2 days, I wish we had longer but next time it will be. Cache was found quickly, its no longer magnetic so is on the ground beside the pole. Thanks for the cache Riser5

We'd parked up the campervan just across the road and enjoyed a wander around the area picking up a couple of traditional caches as well as the two virtuals.
It's such a lovely area to explore.
No problems making the find here.

This is one of my most favourite finds yet. Love the ride to the cache and the astonishment in Miss 9s eyes when she realised that the plate she had touched and looked at 10 or so times was the cache. Awesome. TFTC so much.

Happy New Year, we were awake before the sun made an appearance this morning, we like to capture the sunrise of the new year and this year was no exception.
We had freedom camped near this cache, so before breakfast GK wandered over and found it before the day had really begun.
A nice easy find in the first place he looked, he was pleased he was here before most people were out and about.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

North Island Campervan trip Day 10

After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.

This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.

Last night was spent near the centre of Whangarei, so that I could spend a few hours caching around here before starting my drive back to Auckland. That was always assuming the weather played ball of course lol!

I was starting my day by (concurrently) doing the 2 Adventure Labs currently available near the centre of Whangarei plus any other regular caches that I would be walking past, including this one. And who says men can't multitask eh? :p

Walking over to GZ, I had no problems making an immediate find here having found quite a few of this hide type now. Once the log was signed, the whole lot was replaced back exactly as found ready for the next searcher.

Thanks for setting up this cache Smile

Tramyard and I headed up north on a roadtrip to find the Northland geotour caches. We would have been up this way last weekend if I wasn't completing a half-marathon for charity and tramyard wasn't at a competition.

We stayed near Opononi last night and were heading back to Auckland via the west coast. Today we were targeting high favourite caches and virtuals after completing the geotour caches up north.

After visiting Tane Mahuta and Te Matua Ngahere we headed for Dargaville before taking a trip down the peninsula to find a few caches. We then headed off to Whangarei for the afternoon before returning to Auckland.

We were completing the waypoints for the virtual on the bridge and this was so close so we made the short walk to GZ on the way back to the car. I spotted the cache on approach from approximately 50m. Thankfully it was quiet, so we could retrieve and return the cache in between passing vehicles.

Found it during Northland trip with Aiden29. Nice hide on first day of Summer! TFTC

Nice and easy find whilst parked nearby for other offerings. First of a few containers that were similar!
T F T C Riser5

Our last day in Northland for this visit so only time for a few before we head on down the line, via Waipoua Forest and returning our grandchildren. Back across to SH1 via Dargaville and Brynderwyn and some new countryside sighted. Again a low cache find day but has been a nice trip up here to enjoy. Managed to get some missing info for the Virtual too that I'd failed to get yesterday.

Me and mrs capperz are up in Northland visiting our son, his partner and their four kiddies under 3 years old! Should be fun catching up and seeing how they've come on sice we last saw them 5 months ago in Australia. We headed up via re-locatable car from Wellington to Auckland Airport, via Whanganui overnight at daughter's, then swapped into our own hire car from Saturday until we head back to Marlbro next Wednesday evening. Not too many caching targets, but a few possibilities and hope to get the Virtuals as we pass them.

18-Nov-19
After a short airbnb break in Paihia we are making our way home. We stopped in Whangarei to do the Te Matau a Pohe virtual, and are also finding any trads along the way. Used the carpark that we think was once able to be used for overnighting in campervans. From here it was just a short walk to GZ. Thanks.

09-Oct-19
I think I have been here before but couldn't see any log on the cache page.

Ooops, one of the magnets has come off the container. It still works okay though.

Cheers for the cache.

27-Feb-19
As it was a great summer's evening we thought a quick stroll around part of the Hatea Loop close to the "hook" bridge would be in order. After returning to the car park I decided we had enough time just on dark to make the quick detour to this cache site.

Arriving at GZ I made the assumption from the cache name that we needed to look high but we had no luck so Liz decided to look low and soon had the cache in hand. A cool bit of camo but unfortunately the log was soaking wet so there was no way we could sign. TFTC and on our next evening walk we will try for the other nearby "round-about" cache.

27-Feb-19
Cache log is soaking wet so needs to be replaced.
