I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.

30-Jan-22
Hi Ambertrafficlights

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).

I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Regards

Nope, not even sure the correct tree is still standing with all the road works and changes here.

04-Oct-21
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.

03-Oct-21
Couldn't access due to construction fencing. I doubt it'll be there after works are finished.

21-Jul-21
Seems that the area is currently out of bounds??? (Assuming I got the maths right!)

23-Jun-20
Had a really good search and found the cache deep in the roots of the tree. Everything good, signed and returned. Nice to change blue to yellow.

15-Jun-20
Had the correct coordinates and searched the tree thoroughly, though it was covered in ivy, but found nothing even after crawling around on all fours. Checked nearest trees and stump but again no luck. A bit disappointing after hard work solving the problems.

22-Mar-20
No luck for me. Was pretty certain I had the right tree and did a big search poking about the overgrowth but no luck. Tried nearby stump but no luck there either.

I solved the puzzle yesterday and I liked the variety of problems that needed to be solved. It was both, demanding and fun for me.
I am not a "professional" maths person, but I learned quite some maths back in school (almost 30 years ago...) and I also still do some maths to support my childrens' learning. So this helped me to solve most of the problems given. But I must admit, I needed the help of my husband for problem 1 and 3. Especially problem 3 left me puzzled.

Today I started out to retrieve the cache and I wasn't sure if I would succeed, since it hasn't been found for quite a while. It took me some time to locate the cache in its overgrown hiding space, but I succeeded by using a stick to poke around a little, until I heard a suspicious sound. And Bingo, it was the cache. Nice hide!
All in good condition here, nice and dry. And I am glad I found it, it would have been very disappointing otherwise after so much effort... Wink
Thanks for hiding and maintaining.

24-May-19
Solved a while back ...I love maths but I am not the best at it...but this did flow nicely...an enjoyable cache...glad there was no calculations required to open the container lol ...ambertrafficlights great cache

24-May-19
I love maths but it doesn't always love me. These problems seemed reasonably challenging at first glance but one day I sat down and methodically worked through the equations. My only fail was the maths at the end ti get the coordinates and then only one red cross and I was through. We don't visit this area very much these days so it has been many months before we finally got here. Cache all good. Thanks for the mental workout Ambertrafficlights

02-May-19
Yeah! Thanks CO

the name of this cache is an understatement, with a lot of kicks in the head i eventually got the solve, the find was pretty quick, tftc

18-Apr-19
Yay, solved this awhile ago, and had a DNF, this tome a real quick find, great maths puzzle. Thanks

18-Apr-19
Great to find a previous dnf. Found today with xmasbabe - lovely sunny day - superb for caching. TFTC

Found with Philip.Perry McJandals and Nzflossy we were in the area caching quick find here.
Cache in good order.

On a roadie with Some of Team BoP, NZ Flossy, Davidson Clan and Philip. Perry, and I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers Another brain exercise that I needed a lot of help with. Phew

27-Jan-19
Xmasbabe solved this one and we had a look for it today, but no luck....

27-Jan-19
DNF had a look for this one but couldn’t find it.

26-Dec-18
Had time for a short morning search before the rest of the family was on their feet, gave me three finds and one DNF. As a mathematician, I had to go for this one and got it right but not on first try (I kind of disagree on one of the problems, but it’s basically a question about how things are interpreted). Unfortunately, I did not find anything at the place that obviously should be the right area according to the extra hint. I found something that could be the remains of a rather big cache, or maybe just rubbish. A pitty, would be cool to have a D4.5 as my first mystery on this Hemisphere.

18-Aug-18
This was a group solve - above my head on my own but we did get there. Arrived at GZ and thought it has to be in there . Found the replacement log first and then checked with a previous finder and looked a bit harder and found the original cache as well very close together. TFTPC

05-Aug-18
No particular plan today but a group of us have been diligently working away at some of the Hamilton puzzles and now it's time to collect. I met up with Davidson Clan and managed to bag 21 today which wasn't even half of what I'd planned but the weather was horrible. That combined with all the DNFs made this a pretty difficult day however at least I'm not working Smile

After a DNF a couple of weeks ago I decided to return seeing as Lostcourse had replaced the cache. So as it turns out.... the tree seems to have had a bit of a trim and it didn't take a lot of digging to reveal the original! I couldn't find Lostcourse's replacement so maybe someone's done some maintenance here? Everything's in good condition in any case, cheers Amdertrafficlights, TFTC.

I solved this one a month or two back. Most of the questions were straight forward for me and were quickly solved. I think I even worked out a neat shortcut for one of them. In the end I had all but one of the digits sorted. Narrowed the potential spots down and eventually got the checker to agree. Nice to get the free tick on this one.

With work finishing up nice an early today, I decided to take the opportunity to spend the afternoon collecting smilies to add to the magical creatures tally and what not. Good weather for it today, for the most part. I got lucky parking wise and managed to snag a spot near GZ. A bit of a rummage around and I had all the success of the previous two visitors; nil. If the mud didn't swallow the hide then the thick ivy growing around GZ certainly did. As such I took the liberty of replacing the container with a good sized pill bottle. Cheers for the puzzle cache placement!

12-Jun-18
With a break in the weather the only thing I really had to do today was geocache. I had no plans so enlisted TNXPro and Squirrelnutcase to search for a worthy adventure. What no one knew at the time was this adventure would span 21 hours, cover 3 regions and we'd have Davidson clan join us at the half way point. A crazy day but there's no denying - it's a lot more fun with friends!

Stopped by at the final today in hopes for another smiley but no luck so we quickly enlisted the help of a previous finder. Withno joy on his end either this may need checking on but I'll add it to my watchlist and see who else comes along. Cheers Ambertrafficlights Smile

31-Dec-17
Enlisted my other half to help with the maths. With four science degrees between us we shouldn't have any problems... but those simultaneous equations are a killer! When I got to GZ there were a couple of men a few meters up the road with a cake stall!!??!! They paid me no attention and I fossicked around but came up empty handed. Thanks for the puzzles. Will keep a watch on this and will try again if others are able to find.

19-Aug-17
Solved this one during the week before coming to Hamilton. Took quite a few tries and added a number of X's to the geochecker before getting it right. This was mostly due to missing a step in one of the questions so getting a different result. Nice quick stop and fine today but had to dig this one out of the mud as it had dropped from its hole. TFTC.

17-Jun-17
Plenty of cover so no worries recovering the cache. Easy find but an annoying puzzle. Tried to get statistical help from a mathematician but he was no help so had to dredge it all out of my tired old brain. TFTC

2838 After putting this in the tooo hard basket I finally sat down to have a good look at it. Managed to get all but one answer. With a little fiddling I was able to come up with a green tick. As I also got information about the other I collected them together. All quiet at GZ and plenty of cover while signing.

Dry ground and sun shining made for nice stroll out.TFTC

31-May-16
I'm glad the difficulty is 4.5, makes me feel better about the struggle I had with problem 2! I vaguely remember doing all this kind of stuff in college (years and years and years ago). So I knew the method, but kept making tiny mistakes by trying to cut corners. Finally got it though and managed to get the green tick first try. I'll give it a fave for the enjoyable brain workout.

Finally got around to making the find today, and had no problems. TFTC

Puzzle solved and cache found as a team effort with Jimsta and 2 others. Spent a while searching, but found it eventually. tftc

2nd of 4 found today.

Solved the puzzle between 4 of us, so it didn't take too long.
Find took awhile with Me, Moose and 2 others splitting up in the bushes.

07-Feb-16
Solving a couple of difficult ones on a long weekend, let Bloos Boy do most of the work and then double checked the maths. Quick find while Uni is holidaying.

07-Feb-16
I wonder if anyone will ask me what I did this weekend; and whether they will understand why my school maths had to be relearned after lying dormant for 40-odd years?
I got all the hard ones but no tick. We finally went back and double-checked the easiest one and the tick appeared. The actual find was an anticlimax livened up by a bit of blackberry around the GZ. What a shame they weren't in season.

Really enjoyed revisiting our days of 7th Form maths and was pleasantly surprised at how easily it all came back to us.

Having solved the puzzle, headed to Hamilton for the day to collect this and a few other caches.

Find was made with Fap and Gap and SquirrelNutcase. Great to share caching stories.

Out with Gap (of Fap and Gap) on a pleasant Anzac Day excursion. With three events in one day, Hamilton was definitely the place to be...

This puzzle has really given us a mental workout... We had an initial attempt, but some of the maths was beyond our capabilities and pay grade... Gap called in a few favours and got some serious mathematical help... But we were unable to secure a geochecker green tick. We even tried contacting this CO to see where we'd gone wrong, but never got a reply...

We did get an interesting coordinate projection though, so we decided to head there today and see if we could 'force' our way to the final. Luckily, we met KiwifruitsNZ at ground zone. We discovered that our projected calculation was about 15-20 metres from the actual final. What a buzz to be able to cross this one off... I took the TB. TFTP and TFTC.

10.30am - This one lived up to it name, foiled in our attempts to find it, but in the end we were only a few metres out. Got a extra hint when we spoke to Kiwifruits who were after the same cache. Quick meet at GZ and we had container. Thanks for the help everyone. SLTFTC

No trouble with the math problems. I didn't waste my time at university. Well, actually, I did, but that's another story. The hardest one was #3, a straightforward look-up, but I managed to find a bad web page before I found a good one. I was happy to solve this one since I needed a D4.5 for a GIO challenge.
At GZ, I knew I was close to Uni since there wasn't a parking space to be found. I went around the roundabout and got lucky with a coed leaving a spot very close to GZ. Left: Dutch Geocoin 2012. TFTC.

After overnighting at Porritt Stadium we spent a few hours around Hamilton picking up a few puzzles and doing a bit of maintenance on our own caches. We had enjoyed solving the puzzles for this one and did not find the Maths too Maddening. We had a quick find at GZ this morning. Thanks.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] Razz
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands Red Face[8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list Cool
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches Surprised
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches Wink
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution Cool
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]

During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC Sad
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:

Chapter 21: [green]Rotorua[/green] to [red]Hamilton[/red]
After we had seen some of the beautiful places in [green]Rotorua[/green] we continued our trip to [Navy]'Hamilton'[/Navy] Razz

During our long drive we were also looking for some caches Razz

Solving these riddle was a lot of fun for me Razz
Arrived at GZ we needed some minutes to find the cache Big GrinCoolSmile

I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

I used to be mad about maths but its one of those things that need practice to keep sharp, so I gave the puzzle to a muggle friend to solve since he still is active in the art of maths......

I was FTS on this puzzle back in August (when I was half of KatyAndScott), and had reason to be close to the right spot three times this week, but each time there was someone parked up very close to GZ (a coffee cart that wasn't going anywhere!). Couldn't have gone looking without drawing attention, so flagged it. Another time!

Found with StreetWalkerNZ and Mrs La Vista on an enjoyable days caching mainly following the Kiwi Art Trail.
This was the first cache we found after getting back into Hamilton after finishing the Kiwi. No problems with either the solve or the find (though we did use the hint). TFTC.

Took more than a few goes to work out the correct answers, but at least the search for the cache was easy

Why else would you have a 17 year old in your team who does math for fun? Made short work of this one and we were finally in the area today. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache

10-Sep-13
My Maths skills were not up to successfully answering all the questions in this puzzle so I got some help from some friends of mine in the teaching profession. I did however appreciate the straight forward logic this puzzle required unlike many puzzle caches that seem to revel in being quirky, or designed to deceive. Cache was easily found in the dark without a torch thanks to a developing geotrail and a good familiarity with the location. A big thanks to the CO for taking the time to put the puzzle together and placing the cache.

Today was a training day for the Hamilton Half Marathon that is fast approaching. Was lacking a little bit of motivations so decided to add some geocaching into the run.

10km, 1hr 5 and 3 caches... I think I should do this more often..

Thanks for the motivation to get off my bum.

14-Aug-13
Not having done this sort of maths for 30 odd years, this was a very hard puzzle for me, but eventually got there missing two of the problems but made up for that with google earth my favorite toolWink.
Oops I also added quite a few red x's as I was a bit back to front on one of the solves lol.
Made a slight diversion on the way home from work at 2.30 am to pick up cache with no problems.

New that there was no way that I had any hope of getting this one done as had had a really bad (long, frustrating, maddening) day at work and then dinner guests in the evening.
Saw that Mr HKCB had done the honours with a FTF and had passed a couple of texts back and forth to say that I was going to flag this one till after I had got back from my next trip away.

Guests left, as yet didn't feel tired so decided to see what I could see (still with out much hope of a same day find). Worked through the problems, not really sure what I was doing, time was getting on.
Managed to come up with a set of coordinates and set those into Google MAPs and looked good but not quite right, so rechecked and adjusted 1 figure and this now looked really good, Geochecker surprised me by confirming that it was right so off I raced (with Mrs Dragon sleepily calling out that I was an idiot) for the cache with only 25 min to midnight.
Got to GZ circled twice then pounced and was very pleased to find it and pleased to claim the 2TF.

Thanks for another entertaining puzzle and a positive end to what had been a frustrating day

Phew, got a green tick in the end. A few red crosses first but turns out there was a glitch in the formula for H. Thanks to the CO for quick response in fixing the page.

GZ is quite close to work... but I don't have the car with me today. Ah well, I am satisfied with FTS and will leave the FTF for someone else!

Thanks for another great brain work-out!

02-Aug-13
Second green tick is ours (and none of the red crosses Smile).
Enjoying these puzzles, thanks.

02-Aug-13
Saw this puzzle come up today so spent some time while I should be working solving the puzzle. Couldn't check my answers as I was having issues getting on to the geochecker site. Tried again when I got home and still couldn't get the geochecker to work. Thought I'd ask the CO to see if I was right with my answers, but while I was waiting for a reply, shot up the road to where I thought the GZ was, as it was only a just up the road to see how my luck would be.

Bingo, first place I looked. Luck was definitely on my side as it turned out I had one digit wrong, not to sure which one it was yet, but I'll work that out later after the euphoria of the FTF wears off, and geochecker gets up and running again.

Another great puzzle Ambertrafficlights, keep up the good work!!!!
