Despite the discouraging previous logs we took a good long hard look around GZ and quite a range out from it. I wonder what the landowner did with it. Great spot, though there were no visible birds today either.

20-May-18
As this cache has be DNFd several times and the only found log in a while says the landowner has moved it, and there has been no CO maintenance, I think this one has done its dash. The area is fenced off and there is pretty much nowhere to hide anything else at GZ. Maybe publish a new cache close by? Such a shame as it's a great wee spot.

08-Feb-18
Had a look for this one to no avail.
Read the note about it being moved so extended my search area.
Still nothing.

13-Jan-18
The guy from the local house road down to question me. He has fenced the area. The bird hide is apparently on his land, although he obviously doesn't mind people using it. He asked if I was geocaching. He has moved the cache. Thanks for showcasing this area.

jinta29 and I are in town this week after many months of planning for a week to remember. We are heading to the Yorke Peninsula, Murray Bridge and as many places in between as we can get to. This was one we found along the way.

TFTC clan greenwood.

clan greenwood, I found your cache Minlaton Scenic Trail - Bird Hide View on 24/4/17.
This is my find #3454 and find #82 today.

24-Apr-17
This was day 1 of our adventure and we made our way out of the City and headed towards the underwater themed geo art [^].

I had been eyeing off an interstate trip for some time now and made plans to head to SA to power through the geoart trails over here Big Grin. I roped in my geo buddy Krabiboy to join me and we set about solving [?] caches and highlighting Jasmer caches that aren't available over in WA. Our adventure took us from the CBD over to the Yorke Peninsula and then back across to the Murray Bridge area Smile. We were relentless in chasing down the finds and picked up as many as we could in the week that we had available. Due to the park and grab nature of our visit, the log books which weren't able to accommodate the ink stamp we had made were signed with the initials 'jk'! Fave points will be awarded for those caches which are considered awesome Big Grin

A massive thanks here to clan greenwood for placing this cache here and for tempting us to venture over to this area. Cheers!

jinta29 found your cache Minlaton Scenic Trail - Bird Hide View today. This is my find #6605 and find #83 today. I was able to get my name in the log book here and we replaced the cache as we found it. Thanks once again clan greenwood for placing this and bringing us to this part of the world!

26-Mar-17
Sneaky! No birds on the water as the lake was dry. First stone Bird Hide I've seen. Thanks clan Greenwood

07-Mar-17
We had looked for this cache during a previous visit to the area but after extensive searching at the time, we had to leave without locating the cache. We have had the cache on watch and noticed that numerous finds had been made over time. As we were in the area today we thought that we would take another look. There were no birds today as the lake had dried into a salt pan, There were no muggles. The positive aspect was that the cache was located within a minute of arrival. Thankfully it can now be removed from our watch list. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks clan_greenwood for the cache.

A bike ride around Minlaton this morning took me to this place of hidden birds.
I have not seen such a structure made of stone before Smile
I did not see any birds on the dry lake bed this morning.

A cache was spied after five minutes of preening the area Big Grin

Had a few days off work and was headed for Corny Point to stay with some friends.

Wanted to revisit this one as I had DNF'ed it on a visit a couple of years ago.

Today was a different story, I was actually thinking I wasn't going to find it again and then I spotted it! Wink A sneaky hide.

Was glad to finally lay this one to rest.

Suscoe was heading northwards today in convoy with Phetlern as our time in Marion Bay had come to an end.
We started the finds at Brentwood, then to Minlaton and then on to Maitland before picking up a couple of caches along the road to Port Wakefield.
It was a sunny day with a good range of caches found along the way.
The roads were quiet today which made for easy stops along the roads and around the towns.
Thanks to clan greenwood for this cache, a clever hide right there but so hard to spot..

10:35
Travelling in good company with Suscoe and relocating our base from Marion Bay to Port Wakefield, provided us many opportunities to stop, stretch and add a smiley, or two, to our geo-map. We parked one car & caravan in town and explored the cache rich Minlaton area. Not many birds about and we suspected no cache either ooops yes it is there - simple and effective.

Satellites today had our GZ 5m south of where we found the cache.

Our thanks to clan greenwood for placing this cache.

First we must appologise for the generic logs.

We came to Yorke Peninsular with Speedmistress who hails from Queensland to cache our little hearts out and this we are doing.

We solved loads of puzzles prior to coming and with all the earth, multi, trads and puzzles there are here we were never lacking in variety.

When we found caches that needed repair we have done our best to do what was possible, unfortunately we have now rum out of spare containers, so no more repairs can be done. We have enjoyed the scenery, the walks, the animal life and the challenges that was encountered while traveling the Peninsular. Not all the caches have been attempted due to time restraints but those have been earmarked for future visits.
We also would like to thank Speedmistress for supplying our geocaching chariot.
A huge thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for us to enjoy.

03-Jun-16
Travelled from Queensland to meet up with Muff1 for a Geocaching extravaganza on the beautiful Yorke Peninsular. Our goal to Cache, Cache and Cache. Each day our "finds" have been growing in number, some days more productive then others. We have also been careful to take time to appreciate the natural wonder of the areas we have visited. A big thank you to all of the dedicated Cache placers who have made this possible.

Hi there clan greenwood.

We found your cache **"Minlaton Scenic Trail - Bird Hide View"** at 11:09:00 AM today.
This was our 8th find for the day and this makes our find count 13708.

Penny wanted to go to Minlaton, so our cache run today started at a random there. We then navigated to the one the GPS said was next closest etc, & ended up finding 16 & DNFing 2 today.

Yep, it's a bird hide - all the birds are hiding.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** Container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

Found with Zobo04, Borisb&Natasha and Bounty Trackers. Heading on our way to The York Peninsula for Easter and to catch up with the rest of our group. Sorry for the late logs life sometimes has an uncanny way of getting in the way. I was busy trying to get in front of KTCvic whom we are meeting up with. So lets get as many caches as we can along the way so for 5 minutes I will have more finds. Nothing like a little friendly competition. Thanks for making our trip fun and TFTC

Geo Nerds Yorke Peninsula caching exposition consist of Borisb&Natasha, Zobo04,De Ja Vu, KTCvic, Gonefishen07, Velocachu & Bounty Trackers.
Gonefishen07, Zobo04, Borisb&Natasha and myself Bounty Trackers left on Wednesday morning with one objective, to get Gonefishen07 cache finding count higher than KTCvic who was about 100 cache in front. We spent 2 days straight chasing caches all the way from Gippsland in Victoria to The York Peninsula in SA, where we finally got 8 caches ahead of KTCvic. The smile on Gonefishen face said it all ( I think the comment was made CATCH ME NOW Trenty ).

Along our journey we made a side trip to Gawler to get the multi Fort Knox cache which was on our hit list. What a brilliant cache. Well worth the detour. It will be getting a favorite point from me.
On Friday Velocachu, KTCvic & De Ja Vu graced us with there presence and it was time to start the Yorke Peninsula Geo Art Starting at Hook then Jellyfish, Fish, Anchor, some of Fish Tales,Sammy Starfish and most of the Boat, we then did Sally starfish, and the rest of Fish Tales and then finished with the leftover boat.

Milestone achieved

Velocachu 500
Zobo04 2000
Borisb&Natasha 2000
De Ja Vu 3000
KTCvic 4000
Gonefishen07 4000
Bounty Trackers 4000

Thanks to all the cache owners for the effects in placing such a great series we just loved it.

A BIG THANKYOU to Kate,Rob,Sioux,Katy,Trent,Leesa,Campbell & Zoe for a fun filled Easter long weekend, I had a great time with lots of laughs, thanks again.

25-Mar-16
It was with great excitement that I headed to South Australia with the Geo Nerds consisting of Gonefishen07, Bounty Trackers, KTCvic, de ja vu, Zobo04 & Velocachu.
I have never cached outside of Victoria, nor in a group and I was really looking forward to it.
Every single one of us achieved a very memorable milestone made even more special because they were achieved with very special friends.
Thank you so much to the many COs for the time and effort in placing their caches. I'm sure it enables many groups like ours to get together, have lots and lots of fun and form life long friendships, all in the quest for little pieces of treasure.

Found myself in SA for other reasons this month, and McPhan agreed to join me for the trip back. The main purpose was the Yorke P geoart, but we finished these faster than planned, so had another day just cruising around the Yorke back roads, doing caches like this one.

Thanks clan greenwood for the series.

9820 and 5th of 33 found today.

I thought we had done a few of these previously but maybe not. An overcast and at times drizzly day today but of course being in the area we had to do this series. Apologies for the generic log but having done the geo-art series some of these tend to meld into one another.

Thanks for the cache clan greenwood and the tour.

Traveling from Yorketown to Kadina today, only 130km by the shortest route, but that's not how geocachers travel Razz it took me all day! Lots of detours and dirt tracks explored, great scenery, and a lot of fun finding caches along the way.

Another good find here, many thanks for placing a cache for others to find [^]

Day four of the short holiday with Bettyboo3747.
Travelled from Port Vincent to Edithburgh (Sultana Point actually) via Minlaton.
I'm sure I had found another cache here before. Nice bird hide, bugger of a cache hide! Smile (none of the local birds would tell us where it was!)
Thanks, Robmc.

8706. A travelling day for Robmc and me as we make our way further south to Sultana Point for a couple of days. Gorgeous scenery again with lush green paddocks and fields of gold. This is such a beautiful time to be over here. We managed to find quite a few caches along the way.

This was a particularly nasty and sneaky little hide. I was about to go and check the logs on the phone when I heard Rob call out 'Found It'. Mmmm, very tricky. Glad to have our names on this one.

Thanks. clan greenwood

After Sorceysal and I finished the fish series in 2 1/2 days, we decided to head to Maitland and beyond to grab a few more caches in a more relaxed day, without the haste. Tess the geodog also enjoyed the heaps of walks today, and the great variety of hides.

This was another in this great series, thanks again clan greenwood.

Took us ages to find the little sucker, cleverly done

09-Apr-15
Day 6 of our epic and memorable road trip. After completing the fish series in 2 1/2 days it was time to head further north for a relaxing day. A lot of walks and good company made for a pleasing day of caching.

Took a bit of searching but BH eventually sighted it. Thanks clan greenwood

So.... I am visiting Adelaide for work on Monday, as normal brisal5 and I decide to attempt some geocaches.... we were going to find some geoart but oops we got distracted along the way finding a huge variety of other geocaches instead. Not as many numbers but lots more fun. thank you to all the cache owners for putting out so many great caches on the Yorke Penninsula. Apologies for the generic logs but my notes were useless, and my memory also not so good.
This one had us hunting for awhile, before we actually thought about where it could be..... got it!!!

21-Mar-15
Plan A: A weekend to YP with mogni to do some geo-art caching. Of course we just had to stop and break the drive. Cool Okay..time to go to Plan B. Cache till lunch, then go and start the geo-art and finish it in the morning. So after lunch in Minlaton. Plan C: Cache around Minlaton, go to our overnight digs in Hardwicke Bay and up early for the geo-art. Lucky last for this series and appropriately a sneaky one. We looked in all the wrong places first. Stopped. Took a deep breath and re-read the description, logs and hint. Mogni made the find. I put this down to her being more vertically challenged than me. Does that make her my geo-tool for this type of hide [?] Thanks clan greenwood. Smile You almost got us. Big Grin

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega. Big Grin

Today we set off from Coobowie through Yorketown so stopped to pick up a couple of caches in town as we have driven through many times in the last few days but never had time to grab any caches. So a couple grabbed a much overdue visit to the town Bakery which was finally open whilst we were here today then off to Minlaton.

We grabbed a few caches on our way into Minlaton then settled on a pub lunch Wink. We were leaving the pub and heading to the post office to post a 'belated' Mothers Day card Surprised when we spotted Liz and Bruce so after a lengthy chat with them on all things Geocaching Razz we headed off to the camping store and the fashion store (what an amazing store that is, what don't they sell) then a quick stop at the IGA too, before we grabbed some more local caches now in the company of iluvtrekking. Big Grin

We also grabbed some info for the multi's in town which we hope to attempt tomorrow on our return. [^]

16-Apr-14
Day 4 of our epic expedition within SA. specimenX and myself had found the FT trail last night and solved all the puzzles in preparation for today. We set off nice and early (starting at 7:30am) and we didn't return home (place of current residence) until 11:30pm. It was a very long day however very enjoyable. We picked up a couple of caches on route to the powertrail and commenced the trail at 10:05am and we completed the last cache at 15:29pm of the powertrail. Including breaks for lunch and rest breaks, it works out to be about a cache every 2 minutes. Can't complain about that Big Grin

We had heaps of fun today on the trail, I was the designated driver and specimenX was the hyped up runner. Once again, VERY strong coffee came into play this morning. specimenX was soo hyped up, at one stage her feet were in the air and her head in the ground.... ummm what the??? Razz[:o)]Big Grin On a number of occasions, specimenX would go so fast, her feet were left behind and she would almost face plant the caches.... excited much?

specimenX had a run in with a pollen tree, that decided it didn't like her, and it "poofed" all over her.... it just exploded, literally.... and she was covered from head to toe in pollen. OMG we lost it, I couldn't breath and specimenX couldn't control herself with laughter. Absolutely great day all round.

On our way to the PT, we passed through Minlaton, and OMG we were salivating over the caches there, so OFC we made our way there after the PT to do a clean up. We decided that 200 was our target today, this would be both of our largest caching days. We cleaned up Minlaton with all but 2 DNF's and one we didn't attempt as it was outside the CO's house (not trotting through gardens or shining torches at 9pm at night, don't feel comfortable doing that). We the headed back towards Port Wakefield to wind up our day of caching. The cache "Ruined" was a deal breaker for both myself and specimenX however, specimenX had a trip on some rusty wire and it could have been very nasty however walked away physically unhurt. I then opened the cache to find my biggest fear inside which was a trackable and I almost ran home to Canberra. The fear it put in me turned me very pale and made me feel very sick. Why do people make those 8 legged freaks into trackables or place fake ones in caches??? It drives me insane [:(!]Twisted

At the end of the night, we had some much earned dinner at the Port Wakefield truck stop and made our way home. We can now successfully conclude we completed 203 caches !!!! (and 2 DNF's Twisted)

Thanks to Fishy Tales for the awesome powertrail and thanks to all the other CO's for the caches we collected today [^]Big Grin[^]Smile[^] Now its time for some much earned sleep as we both have to be up nice and early to make our travels over to Murray Bridge for the Oz Mega 2014 [^]Big Grin

Thanks for the cache, clan greenwood.

Found on a 2 day caching run with geowife, we managed around 245 caches and the weather was almost perfect except for a few showers here and there, must return one day to get the ones we missed, very beautiful on the peninsula and look forward to returning.

Found on day 2 as we slowly, very slowly make our way home, a nice quick find but there was no bids....or fish either, the lake being bone dry could play a major part in that lol

What better way to spend an Australia Day long weekend than on a caching safari around the Yorke Peninsular [^]
Astro and I made our way down one side then up the other of the peninsular, finding lots of great caches along the way and enjoying the fantastic weather and scenery, not to mention the roads!
This was one of our finds for the weekend.
Cheers & TFTC

Spent 4 days on Yorke Penisnula in attempt to try and clear the map again and once again I failed, looks like another trip is needed. Smile

Most of the time I travelled alone but caught up with locus cacher, CPWanderer, Laughside Legend and Dr Owl on the Saturday.

Clocked up around 1000 kilometres and did some amazing walks with spectactular views. Thanks to all the cache hiders.

Nice walk on a warm morning. TFTC. Big Grin
