Day 2 of our 5day trip to Coober Pedy. This is a fun trip for SA Sewer Rats and ttrogg.Ttrogg quickly located the cache.Stamped the log and replaced as found.Tftc
Day two of the road trip to Coober PedyGot away quite early, for me, from Port Augusta but due to a slight fuelling mistake only found three caches before fuelling at Pimba then checking in at Woomera. Got up to Andamooka for the AdLab there and all the nearby physical caches before heading back to Woomera for the two AdLabs there. A nice number of mainly traditionals were found on the way and this was one of the ones I wanted.A nice easy find for me here. Thanks to froghoppin for adding to the playing field with this cache.Smilie #15121.*This log composed and published using GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife).*
TFTC,In this LGA for a day to Cache and add to my statistics, visited trackables.Quick find.
Quick find by sports field. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO I wouldn't want to be washing the sports people's clothes.
What a fascinating place!! We took lots of photos. Hard surface in the dry, impossible to play on in the wet lol Fav pt for bringing us here and giving us a giggle.
How cool was this footy ground.I'll attach a picture but thanks for putting a cache here.
This is a really interesting spot. I thought you might be able to see more of the mine, but its pretty cool to be here
TFTC wow that oval would be dirty to play on. Bet the uniforms take some cleaning
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Visiting Roxby Downs for a few days, drove over to Olympic Dam. Thatd be a tough game ! Tftc
Ocw the Bebes as we visit OD. A quick find. Wouldnt fancy playing footy on this pitch! Tftc
After the Great Leap Forward Mega, we decided to detour to Roxby Downs to grab this elusive LGA. We're exploring this interesting town and made a quick find here. Tftc
This was my first visit to Roxby and Olympic Dam in more than 26 years, and I used to drive past this location daily for 3 months back in 1997.The cache was a nice quick find on a day that was creeping towards 36 and quite blustery. Thanks froghoppin.
Travelling with iluvtrekking from WA up the coast to NT and down through the Centre to SA and back home over the Nullabor. After spending a couple of nights in Coober Pedy, we headed twds Woomera picking hides along the route and arrived at RD last night. Thanks for the hide.
Travelling with richlink from Perth to Darwin up along the west coast and home again through the centre and the Nullarbor, picking up caches along the way. What a surprise Roxby Downs is, I wouldn't like to play football on that ovak. Thanks for showing us around froghoppin.
RIP Mike Smith. 1940-23.06.05.
A quick find here before turning my car around & heading south as the road I planned to take was closed. Probably for the best in retrospect. TNLN-TFTC!

Day 20 of our greynomad trip up north and after a the JLWEvents, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, we are attempting to escape the southern weather that has been wet and windy.
Now this is one little LGA out here on its lonesome that I desperately wanted to collect, and it took some negotiating to get this to happen. We've parked the van at Woomera and made the trip unhitched for the day to tour around Roxy Downs.
We got pounded yesterday by stones on 2 newly sealed sections of road and have some nasty chips and cracks in our windscreen and as a bonus is we have found a windscreen repairer that has arranged a replacement windscreen for us and says he will have it tomorrow for fitting. So it will be another trip here tomorrow, but at least we will be able to see,
We made the trip out to the mine gates before turning back for this cache. You wondered what it would be like if the ground was wet, well that's how we found it today.
TFTC SL TB's visited.

A trip to Perth checking out some of the awesome places along the way in ACT, NSW, Qld and NT. Grabbing some old caches and missing LGAs. TFTC.
You would have to be pretty keen to play on this field.
You would have to be pretty keen to play on this field.
On our travels we stopped to grab this cache, a nice quick find, but you wouldn’t won’t to play footy today as the ground is under water. Thanks for placing this cache
Thanks for hiding this one. We had a laugh kicking the footy on the oval. Rock hard in the dry at the moment and prickles if you stray off the field! We signed the book and swapped some goodies.
Diverting back through here to dip in my Abbottsford Geotour Coin that started it's journey at GeoWoodstock XVIII - GWXVIII.
A nice quick grab on the final leg to the airport after spending a couple of days in Woomera. A short walk from the road and a great find once at GZ. [^]
This is the first time I have seen a dirt playing field. I've played scrapes golf and done a few things in the browny goodness, but never seen a full playing field made from just dirt... They breed 'em tough round here...
I etched my name in the cache log and returned as found.
Cheers froghoppin.

Found with my little ones. We are local but yet to venture out here. They enjoyed exploring around. Log book is now full.
Staying at my son's in Roxby, decided to do some caching, and ended up here with Loopy1972 in tow. Thank you froghoppin for the cache.
At the mine for a couple of days.
An afternoon walk from camp over here, felt lucky that I had scored a flynet earlier in the day.
This is some if the best success of this trip, my host could not make it and the project that we should had done is running late.
The oval reminded me of the Queenstown oval in the 90ties.
Thank you for hiding this geocache froghoppin

Alice Springs to Adelaide Roadtrip
Day Four: Coober Pedy to Woomera via Roxby Downs
The roads are quiet.
The weather is strange.
And Woomera is slightly creepy.
It was raining lightly as I did this one. This is as far north as I go along this road, I bet it deteriorates rapidly beyond here.
In 1981 I met a geologist who was out from Britain, based in Adelaide but flying to Olympic Dam each week as part of the set up process. I’d love for him to be able to see what it has all become.
Thanks froghoppin

Found on our outback adventure.
Caching with Beaker and Karlth2021.
I didn't actually read the description for this cache and what a surprise I got when we got over the hill. wasn't what I was expecting.

Found with Kellmik and Karlth2021 on our 15 day, 7000+ km trip around the outback taking in iconic locations such as the Gawler Ranges, Googs Track, Kingoonya, Woomera, Oodnadatta Track, Marree, Birdsville Track, Mungerannie, Birdsville, Bedourie, Boulia, Diamantina NP, Winton, Longreach, Windorah, Haddon Corner, The Dig Tree, Innamincka, Old Strezlecki Track, Milparinka, Silverton and Broken Hill.
In all is was an absolutely fantastic trip with lots of wonderful things to see.
This cache was one of over 120 that we found during our outback drive.
Great oval... but the curator really needs to get off his butt and manage the greens a little better!!

I think that I had found one in this vicinity a few years back.
We had been here before but were not prepared for all of the empty shops in town!5

Out and about in the donga with Purrfect Di and Jack...
A busy spot but most of the traffic seems to be going to the activities nearby. Not a soul on the oval today.
Not really into football - but I'd love to see a showdown on this oval -- would be quite the spectacle!
Always nice to find a cache placed by our good friends froghoppin and thanks for another big yellow smiley on our homestate geomap
Cache was a bit out in the open away from the tree, so we placed it back at the base and added some natural camo.
"A cache a day keeps the doctor away" - that's my 2021 healthy fitness plan
Fav - 'cos it's a cool spot - and not a mint tin
----------------------------------------------------
2020 won. it's not over yet!
- - search at a social distance wherever you can - -
Keep away from the nasty bugs ( except travel bugs of course )
- keep a distance from people as much as you can, they spread the nasty bugs! [:o)]
- go out and find or place some new caches in our regional areas where it's safer away from bugs!!

Now imagine falling over here. Mate they do need to pay their water bill.
Thanks to froghoppin and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet! [^]
I endured two weeks of iso, before arriving at olympic dam for work. First item of the agenda... a cache.
Today was our first full day staying in Andamooka so we started the day finding a couple of caches there before heading to Olympic Dam and Roxby Downs. [^]
Wow that is a very dry oval with the remains of someone doing donuts out in the midde. Would not like to play there now.
Thanks for the cache froghoppin.

Found with Jac-Jam while in the Roxby Downs area. killing time and exploring the region. While here we stayed 2 night in Annamooka.drove around fining caches here and there. TFTC.
Let’s hope the game isn’t here this weekend. The pitch report would be interesting. TFTC
Parked in the side of the road and took a short walk up the hill to make an easy find.

It was so good to see bitumen again after driving on gravel for quite a long way. A quick walk up the hill here.
Today was a massive day of driving with almost 600km of driving. We started off at parachilna and headed north to Marree. Unfortunately we got a flat tyre on the way out to a cache of Freddos but a local was nice enough to plug it for us. We later headed to lake eyre south along the Oodnadatta track before heading south to Roxby downs, unfortunately a rock was flung up by an oncoming car and shattered the rear window of the car. At the end of the day we decided to pull in at woomera for the night.

[@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday. We took my jeep through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. It was then onwards to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tju?a (Olgas), Kings Canyon, and then drove the Red Centre Way aka. Mereenie Loop Road to see the Tjoritja (West MacDonell Ranges), calling in to see the various highlights. We then stayed a few nights in Alice Springs, and included a day trip to see the East MacDonell Ranges. It was then time to turn around to head to South Australia, and in doing so, we visited the Palm Valley, and made the 4WD detour through Owen Springs Reserve (an excellent shortcut that wasn’t too technically difficult), calling into the Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia. Our final stop was Coober Pedy, and we really enjoyed checking out the various dugouts and mines.
Today, we continued our outback trip travelling from Roxby Downs to Coward Springs. We started off the day with a breakfast event, and then after checking out the visitor’s centre, headed to Andamooka to see some interesting opal sights, glass bottle house, and old mining pub. From there, we briefly saw Olympic Dam, before heading north to join the Oodnadatta Track. We visited Lake Eyre South, some ruins and the old Ghan’s bridges, and a few mound springs.
What an interesting sight to see this oval. I thought this was where football actually got played, but instead read that it's just an unused oval now that has gone with the times. Interesting. The cache container and logbook were in good shape today. Thanks froghoppin for placing the cache and its ongoing maintenance.

@Davidwazza and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday in the infamous black jeep. We took a route through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. Today, we continued our trip, completing some caches around Roxby Downs and visiting Andamooka before heading up past Olympic Dam, and the joining the Oodnadatta track. Making a few stops along the way we set up camp in Coward Springs, of course enjoying the natural springs!
Cool find! Different looking oval!

It may not be the MCG, but no doubt here have been many hard fought football matches held on this very challenging surface. We also noticed a cricket pitch and envisaged that the only way to score would have to be lofted shots as a very well timed cover drive would probably pull up after 2 or 3 metres.
The ground surface also contrasted makedly with the football ground at Queenstown on the West Coast of Tasmania. the surface is quartz gravel because it is the only viable surface in this very high rainfall part of Tasmania. Visiting teams despised playing there whilst the home team knew how to inflict the maximum discomfort on their opposition. The impact of severe gravel rash lasted for weeks. In cricket, the shine on the new ball did not last one over. Players would have given anything for a soft, dry sand surface.
Accurate coordinates and an obvious hide location led to a quick find. the cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks froghoppin for the cache.

Found while we toured a circuit of the Flinders Ranges, Marree, Roxby Downs, Woomera and Port Augusta for the week, mostly touring the backroads and visiting many scenic and interesting locations. Thanks for the cache froghoppin!
Staying at Roxby for the night before heading up the Borefield Rd and spent the afternoon finding a couple of caches in the area.
It would have been an interesting match day playing on that surface compared to what they play on now.
Thanks froghoppin TFTC.

Our journey towards Quorn for the SA June Long Weekend continues.
Staying in Woomera to explore the region, today we visited Roxby Downs and Andamooka. An eventful day for us with Mr F losing a fight with a dead tree and also losing our GPSr (subsequently found by some nice caravanning folk)
Wow watch out for Dead trees near the cache. Mr Felix stood up under one and it gashed his head open. Was literally covered in blood when he got back to the car. Luckily once it was dried off its not much more than a deep scratch.

Love clear and accurate hints and I'd love to see a game of footy right here. Carlton might win one!
Another weekend trip that was schemed up with Dr Owl when I found out I was living in Pt Augusta for a short while. The aim of the weekend was to find caches in two LGA areas we'd never previously visited/geocached and to play tourist. This was new territory for Dr Owl and ages since I'd visited parts of it. Needless to say the goals and much more were achieved along side serious laughs and serious discussions. This was an absolutely awesome weekend. We oohed and aahed at the scenery, meet some wonderful friendly people and interesting characters and enjoyed some unique experiences along the way.
Not up to VFL standards thanks froghoppin.
Not up to VFL standards thanks froghoppin.
Day one (officially) of what would turn out to be Owl and Sushilord's best caching trip ever. Not just for the caches, the views (how can you beat a dirt oval?), the lack of DNFs (see the found log), the laughter, the new phone game Owl introduced the Fish to (sorry Fish!), the fact that neither of them had explored this part of the world before, the LGA challenge cache that is now met and the interesting people they met along the way... or perhaps it was! But it might just have been the quick finds the Fish was making.
Love these desert ovals and this one looked more like a dust bowl today (or a mud flat if it was wet) [:o)].
