After finding the nearby challenge it was time to find other caches out this way. A lovely walk and quick find ensured we were on our way again. Apologies for the late logging.

In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY.

Kia ora rawa atu for the cache bumandworker.

10-Jun-23
Welcome to day 2 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to Smile
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.

We came to Rabbit Island this morning to get a particular Challenge Cache, and to do any other caches that took our interest including this one.

Having parked up nearby, a quick stroll to GZ and then a quick find ensued.
Nothing untoward to report with the cache or log, so everything was replaced exactly as found and we were back on our way again.

Thanks for setting this one up.

(# 7838) A caching trip to Nelson with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Day 2 of a 4 day trip interspersed with exploring and humour. A quick find.

The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ. Thanks for bringing me here.

10-Jun-23
Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.

As we were in the area for the nearby Challenge cache, we naturally grabbed a few of the other caches around here too. No problems locating this one.

The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ

Thanks to bumandworker for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

KR was off on the bike so what was I to do? You guessed it: write up my diary about the brilliant Kelleher Trust Landscape art show at The Suter. That done, it was time for a walk. My fone led me on a ramble so I went by a random route but eventually it to GZ for an easy find. Tftc

08-May-22

Spending a little time around Nelson, we thought catching the ferry from Mapua and riding bikes around Rabbit Island was just the thing for a beaut day like today. Many caches have sprung up since I was last here caching, so nice to have the opportunity to clean out a few.

It seems many people had the same idea as us to spend some time on Rabbit Island on Christmas Day. This was the first cache search. It wasn't the quickest of finds but I got there soon enough.

11-Jul-21

In the South Island from Tauranga on a six week holiday and now following the PWGT. I hope to have the tour completed before I get home. Today is a day in Mapua to gather a few extra smileys decided to go bike riding with DEE + ME.

Lid broken and totally saturated.

I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

25-Nov-20
Quick find, log wet and unfortunately I did not have a replacement. Loved the tree and the hares. Tftc

04-Aug-20
Found it ! Took a bit of looking around but like some of the descriptions say it’s easier to go off the geocache name rather than the coordinates. I put it in a new zip lock bag.

13-Jul-20
Been in the South Island visiting the grown up kids who are on Uni holidays. Travelling home and staying in Nelson for a couple of days. Today got bikes and came over to rabbit Island. Lovely area to explore combining some of my favourite activities Biking and Caching. Only found this after reading previous log.

22-May-20
Its there. Had tried for this in the past. Co-ords out and name is a hint. TFTC

16-May-20
Couldn't find this one.. there was lots of fresh bark on the ground.. dont know if this had anything to do with finding it or just my lack of skills

22-Mar-20
What a good find, co-ordinated are a tad out but the title helps a lot

19-Jan-20
Not in great condition but still there!

14-Jan-20
Great find. Beautiful day

08-Jan-20
One of 12 caches located this afternoon on a cycle ride around parts of Rabbit Island. Unfortunately the weather was totally unappealing, with a very strong wind near the beach and a constant threat of rain! Still good to get the exercise of a bike ride and the satisfaction of a few caches!

Reasonably quick find. #3079. TFTC.

06-Jan-20
Log full so used an old camping ticket. Needs a bit of tlc.

06-Jan-20

04-Dec-19
Quickly found, better trust the title than the coordinates. TFTC

17-Nov-19
We parked our car at GZ and started our walk here. This cache took longer than expected as the coords were out of about 10m but the cache name helped finding the box.

12-Oct-19
It was raining too much on the west coast so i headed up to Nelson to restock and move into the warm weather. While up here i hiked around a lot of the hills. I can see why people love mountain biking around this area. And i picked up a lot of caches along the way. Thanks for placing them.

09-Oct-19
Out of DUNEDIN and headed to Nelson for a week. On a mission to tick off our 2000th cache on this trip.

Decided to spend the afternoon on Rabbit Island cycling around and caching as we go.

Almost there, this is find number 1963!

TFTC

31-Aug-19
I cycled around Rabbit Island this morning. The one thing you have no control over when you plan these things is the weather. Today the gods smiled on me, it was perfect. All good here. TFTC

Out today on my bike. What a fantastic day for a ride around Rabbit Island and with so many fantastic caches to find its looking like a fantastic ride. Thanks to everyone whose caches I found apologies for the cut and paste. You made my ride very interesting with some quick finds and some not so quick and a couple of frustrating ones as well. TFTC

Found while out with the Grand kids ,2nd find for the day for them and they had a great time.....Thanx4tc

05-Apr-19
I left my shoes at the beach and went for a little walk barefoot. One more cache I thought, just 300m inside. Wasn't as straight as I hoped and not as easy barefoot, but I managed to get there. Spent some time looking on the wrong side but once I went over it was a quick find.

20-Jan-19
Took a lot longer than it should! Tftc

16-Jan-19

Really easy

06-Jan-19
A quick find here, no probs. TFTC Bum.

Another warm day so Jo and I planned a trip across the hill, just for a bit of therapy and a change of scene really. Jo hasn’t had a lot of time off over the holiday period.
So we set some goals.
Lunch at Devilles, a swim at Rabbit Island, and a pint at the free house before heading home. Some of those are usual haunts, others not, but the weather dictates these things. Those were all achieved and a few caches along the way. Cachewise the goals were walking to the centre of NZ; then Best, Rough and Rabbit Island. A few others in the vicinity. Anything park and grab or within short walking distance. Didn’t pack the bikes, they will be coming another day.
Thanks to the Nelson COs. We haven’t been here much in 2018. Will aim to get over more in 2019. Had fun and all caches in good shape.

We are camping at Mapua for 4 nights. We have come on the Ferry, (so a T5 or me) I'm with the family so no patience for too many caches, while the husband watched the kids swim, and after I had a swim, I dashed away to grab 2. It is very hot biking today. It was a little bumpy on the gravel, with no suspension. A great day. TFTC.
