Considering that the Uni hasn't finished their earthworks yet and the entire bridge the Troll lived under is missing, I'll be keeping an eye on the location and if it's suitable, putting the troll back.
If not, I've got an alternative bridge for the Troll, not far away.
Stay tuned, as I'm keeping an eye on the construction site and as soon as there's a bridge, there'll be a Troll.

Alas, I've received word that Macquarie University is highly likely to move University Avenue, not to increase the amount of traffic on it, but to decrease the amount of traffic that can go through the university.
It doesn't make sense to me, either, but it means that the Troll needs to find a new home.
So, I'll be looking at bridges around Macquarie that a Troll can live under and updating the coordinates appropriately.

Stay tuned....

Great hide, not too hard. TFTC

In plain sight, but so easy to miss!

After attending a jubilee function at the university with Mr MR we returned to the station via this bridge and I took the opportunity to grab the cache which he had previously found. It’s a bit tricky and also difficult to retrieve with all the muggles passing by. SL TFTC

I spent an hour on this one but can't seem to find it. I'll try again sometime

#163. Found this one a little while ago but didn't have a pen on me. Glad to come back and sign the log this time tho! Thanks for clever hint and TFTC!

08-May-14
Eventually found it. More obvious than initially expected.

03-May-14
Damn. Could be the first who signed the log. Went there on April, 15. Had the right clue but have overseen the easy thing. Thought it is harder and came back when there were less studs around. Looked on even more non-trivial spots and even checked under the bridge for the Troll nothing. Today: double checked hint and T-rating and after 5 secs I had CIH.

MQ is a beautiful campus and I enjoy my 10 weeks here very we'll. Greetings from Germany.

Cool find, didn't get the hint at first. Happy geocaching Smile

Found it easily enough. Got some weird looks from people though. TFTC.

Just walking down now to put a new log in the cache.
Thank you for your patience.

Found it. Bison is intact but log is gone. I can replace it if necessary.

02-Apr-14
Disabled until I can get a new log put in.
I wonder who took it...

A nice little cache - easy to look straight past it though!

#390 (Streak day 45)

Went to Macquarie Centre for a bit of shopping and lunch. Hmmm. There's an unfound cache nearby in the Uni, and I need a find today for the streak. That'll do.
The cache name and the terrain suggested a particular type of hide. Should be a quick find.

Headed out of the Centre and walked to GZ. Kept getting ambushed by muggles every time I needed to check a spot closely. Grrrrr! iPhone pushed me to a particular spot, but nothing to be seen there. Need to widen the search area.

Finally spotted something suspicious, after a good 10 minutes, and had CIH. Then a group of 5 muggles arrived while I was in the middle of signing duties.
And to finish off, while I was replacing the cache, a silent cyclist rode past.
It's a Sunday. It's out of Semester. What's with all these people here? Glad to head back, and that lunch that's waiting for me.

This place is like a farm, we have seen wild rabbits, cats, ducks, ibis.

Waited for a few muggles to clear then made the quick grab

The Geowife dropped me off here while on her way to the shopping centre. I had wondered about the T rating after reading the logs, and had an idea after reading the hint. Standing on the bridge I studied the construction and then saw something. Moving around to see from different angles made me hopeful, so I gave it a try.

I managed to retrieve it and replace it from the bridge, although the replacement was more difficult as I was trying to put it back where it wasn't easily seen. A T1 rating may be plausible for retrieval, but proper replacement might be a little higher. All in all a good hide and some fun. Thanks TheScoutWizard.

Finally found this one today after the replacement.

Yep, looks like my original location was the right one, it was just missing when I first looked.

Made the find, signed and headed off. Nice spot, thanks for the cache!

Gosh I wouldn't like to try this one during uni term, or after heavy rain! There were a few lizards lurking in the crevices too...

Enjoyable micro. SL TFTC!

Quick and easy find at GZ....minus the pen I always seem to forget. TFTC!

23-Jan-14
Meeting up with mates at Macquarie Centre, so got off the four-wheeled-vehicle a bit earlier and walked down to the bridge. No troll, but a few muggles about!

Knew what I was looking for, but took a very long time to find (how did I miss it thrice?!). Signed a distance away on the grass before replacing; though, as I was fumbling it back, a muggle walked straight past and stared! Oops... Re-hidden out of sight.

Oh, and a familiar cacher signed the spot before me!

TFTC, TheScoutWizard, nice one Smile

GC4MNND Macquarie University Troll

Geocache: # 1,114.
Found on: Sunday, 12th January 2014 at 6:20 AM.
Current streak: # 166 days.
Today's finds: 1 of 1.
Caching party: none.

I headed out in the early morning with the new geo-pup, Squizzy, to keep the current streak alive and also take him for a walk. I decided to stick a little closer to home today and headed over to Macquarie Park and the university to attempt this particular cache. Once at Ground Zero, it was a quick find and I soon had the Cache In Hand. I performed the signing duties before returning the cache to its original hiding location. Signed Log, Took Nothing Left Nothing. Thanks For The Cache TheScoutWizard.

Thanks for the quickie, the cache was a little bit exposed tucked it away out of sight,
Cheers

So glad it is back up. Lots of Muggle traffic despite being in the evening. TFTC

09-Jan-14
Ok, we're back in business with a new cache container and a new log sheet.
I've even copied out all the finds from the online log onto the sheet.
Please make sure you put the cache back where a casual glance won't spot it, as I'm sure that's where it went.

08-Jan-14
Ah so that is why I couldn't find it today. Cache coords uploaded last week.

05-Jan-14
With twilight coming in, attempted and failed to find this cache.

Actually drove over a median strip in the new car on the way in to this one ... Not good!

Anyways, no muggles, so had a good look. Found something likely related to the cache, but nothing attached. Darn it.

Will wait for another find then return.

Thanks for the cache!

05-Jan-14
Went this afternoon too and found something that we thought was related to the cache but not the cache. No one around so spent quite a bit of time searching but this would have been our 1 st cache so not certain if it is us or not. Also tried the Khartoum shack with no success although someone else did find it today

05-Jan-14
The cache has gone missing. I'll sort out a new container, log and the like and re-enable it when I get a chance to plant it.
If anyone has any information about where the cache container might have gone, that'd be great.
Thanks for your patience.

05-Jan-14
Disabling the cache whilst I check whether it's still there.
Given it's location, it's possible it's been muggled, or been removed by forcible cachers Smile

01-Jan-14
No one around on a public holiday which made a quick find easy.
Many thanks for the nice spot within the uni.

No-one around on a rainy Xmas afternoon, so found it quickly with no muggly interference.

19-Dec-13
After our LT Christmas Lunch I needed to increase the blood supply to my alcohol stream, so decided to find the caches at Macquarie Uni, starting with this one. I got to the bridge and looked around. I tried some different areas, no doubt looking odd to the few muggles who passed, until I eventually spotted the container. A-ha! TFTC

Daddy told me he'd hidden a geocache.
We were walking past when I reminded him he'd hidden one, so I had to find it.
I'm getting really good at geocaching.

Decided this evening I would travel down to the Ryde, Marsfield area to try my hand at caching after dark. Had some excitement on the Expressway just before Wahroonga A Holden Commodore in front of me decide to do some fancy 360’s down the road sparks lighting up the evening like New Year. His two front Mag wheel evidently decided simultaneously to explode, He ended up the gutter against the rock wall with pieces of wheels all over the Expressway. The driver and passengers weren’t injured just shocked. Nice cache. TFTC

I'd been saving this one for my geostreak in case I got desperate for a find not too far from home. Luckily I didn't need it in the end completing the streak at 366 days last week. Today I thought I'd tick off the closest unfound cache to home. The navigator has funny ideas about the roads inside the uni (which we used to call "North Ryde CAE" back when I was at another uni) but eventually I found some nearby parking. I wasn't going to be long so I headed over and it was peak hour (lunch time) for the bridge. As others have done I got a different perspective which put me in the right spot for an oh-so-casual retrieval. Signed and replaced with the muggle traffic none the wiser.

Thanks!

Found it but made it harder than needed until I re read the hint. You could hide a fluorescent elephant under that bridge. Opportunity wasted for an oversize cache? All the same tftc!

Came past today to grab this one. Parked nearby and walked to GZ. Only had my iPhone and the compass was acting up a little and after 3 walk bys, I still couldn't find it. Knew what I was looking for, but not where. Then after another check I saw it. Went for the take and SL. Replaced again all safe and sound. TFTC.

We parked in the RMC, dodged past the gates, and fished about for a quick find. Thanks TSW.

17-Sep-13
Found it.
TFTC.
I found it much quicker than expected. Not sure if that's intended as it might be a bit too exposed for muggling. But I've left it as found just in case. It's a good first time mini for a newbie.

16-Sep-13
This one was made very difficult by the number of uni muggles passing in dribs and drabs over the bridge. The foot traffic may have been lighter than normal due to the rain but it still posed an annoying impediment to my search.

Matters unrelated to geocaching have been distracting me recently, and have taken the edge off my already meagre caching skills, but so far I have been able to maintain my streak. However, this one was really testing me until I thought back over previous finds in similar locations and the penny finally dropped. Gotcha!

This is the third time caching has brought me back to Macquarie where I studied many many years ago. It’s fascinating to look around as it is so different today.

Nice one, thanks TheScoutWizard.

Found on a changeable day - hot one minute, cold the next - with the geokids' grandparents. Clever hide - thanks. We parked in Woollies car park on the corner of Epping Rd and Balaclava Rd.

15-Sep-13
Judging by the logs I thought this might be easier than it was. I didn't pick up anything on my first tour of the bridge, but then picked it up from a distance. The hint did indicate the type of hide but I couldn't spot it when on the bridge, only when getting off. Two muggles decided to have a chat at the end of the bridge which then delayed retrieval and replacement.

Not much water under this bridge, but a lot of muggles on top. Looked and saw the tell-tale signs of a cache and went for the grab in a muggle gap. SL and replaced TFTC

I only visit campus once or twice a month, usually for work but occasionally for lectures which are fortunately few and far between for an external student; today was the day, and I went fishing and managed to snare the cache. Thanks for the adventure

12-Sep-13
I figured this one would be like picking low hanging fruit so I didn't take my phone or even really look at the map. It's only a couple of hundred metres from where I work in any case.

Once at gz I had a bit of a look around in between the passers-by and soon came face to face with a wide-eyed bunny rabbit under one end of the bridge. He stared, I stared and then we just pretended we didn't see each other.

I was able to haul in the cache not long after and was 3TF, which was a bit of a surprise. Thanks TheScoutWizard.

12-Sep-13
Reached GZ at a quiet time so approached from one direction and found the cache looking right at me, retrieved it from a different direction, SL and returned without any muggles coming by. Lucky, this could be quite difficult at certain times.
Thanks Scout Wizard from bringing me back to the old haunt again. In my day there was no bridge here.

When I finish work at library and walk on way to train station. I found the caches. Smile

10/09/13. 6:23 AM. Cache #887. Current streak: 12 days. The early devil gets the FTF worm, and there's my one for September. Good coords, easy find. TFTC }:)

...And that's enough of this streaking malarkey; the only purpose of this mini 12 day streak was to continue to today, the anniversary of the start of my big streak 10/09/12. Today would have been d366 (a year bookended by two Sept 10ths), if not for 4 days at cacheless Perisher Valley in August.
