Alas cache has gone AWOL. Time to open up the area for something new. Thanks to all who found this cache.
Another dnf. Looked for 30 mins. No luck. Even opened things we maybe shouldn't. Did find a small zip lock bag but that's the closest we got
A short detour before me bike ride along the rail trail,
took me court side
Nice of the 'Telcos' to provide some lighting for the grounds,
in return for installing some mobile phone transceivers
But I could not find a cache at GZ
DNF's are piling up on this one !!

We looked and looked and looked some more, but it wasn't to be today. We will be back so will try again then.
Could not find this one, may have just overlooked it or it may have been muggled.
Moneydork and Mrs Moneydork had very kindly invited me, last November, for a caching trip to Victoria over the Australia Day weekend [:X]
A massive trip with 13 DNFS and 318 finds over 7 days and many kilometers of travel
My knees don't want to bend anymore after a massive ride on the Ballarat Skipton Rail Trail and then about 145 finds the next day while finishing the Dad's Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson series [xx(] Seems my driving lesson was about me keeping both feet on the ground as I broke my own record by doing the autumn leaf thing 4 times in one day [xx(]
Still a fantastic trip with great sights and lots of cache finds [^]
I love it when I can predict where the cache will be.... and I'm right!

Out and about with Moneydork and Locus Cache. We stayed in the same accommodation with the idea that we would tackle some of the local caches in Ballarat including the rail trail and challenge caches. This is one of the caches we targeted.
Thanks for the cache Fergzter!

What a cool Australia Day extra long weekend! I drove from Adelaide to Victoria and did heaps of fun stuff, including:
*attending a dinner event in Inverleigh [^]
*attending an Australia Day event near St Kilda [^]
*caching around Ballarat [^]
*squealing whilst going on some 4wd tracks (inadvertently)
*hanging with the awesome Wozzle68 [:X]
*caching with Moneydork and Locus Cache [:X]
*riding on the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail - first time on a bike in over 20 years!!
*accidentally bike riding straight over a big black snake that was about 1.5m long [xx(]
*walking like a cowboy after all of that bike riding! haha [:o)]
*LOADS of giggles and awesome adventures!!! [^]
I LOVE geocaching!!! [:X]

Thank you for our first geocache find!!! It was tricky and we are so excited we found it!
Last time we were in Linton doing some local multi's this cache was totally muggled out with a game of football in progress. So this evening, with not a sole around except us, we made the search wondering if it was still in place after a couple of dbf's. Well what do you know , it was still there, waiting to be found.
Thanks Fergzter for the placement.
Thanks Fergzter for the placement.
Out on the the trail with Jasc-at and Mark9375. Could not find this one after looking for 30 mins
How fun was that, came over with parkaclan for a bit of advice. I was almost as excited showing them how to look for clues as finding it yay!!!
Came back 2 days later and with the help of experienced geocachers jumping jacks, we found it...yay. My first cache ever. Very clever hiding spot!
Couldn't find. Our first trip out too hopefully hasn't been moved or swept away in the floods!
Found with Yogster, or by Yogster if Im to be honest. NICE HIDE VERY GOOD CAMO. TFTC
TFTC. Out today with Jaggedwings and the Geomutt to enjoy the sunshine and pick up some caches in the outer lying areas of Ballarat and surrounds. Ticked this one off our list straight after lunch and quickly found the cache, though Jaggedwings would have struggled to see it given it's sneaky position.
Found on our way home after attending a nearby event, this one took us a while till the "light bulb" went on in the brain and it was soon in hand, Thanks for the tricky hide and find.
Last one for the day, good fun, met a friend, found the cache, laughed a lot, all good. TFTC
10:36:00 AM. No one camping here today and a quick find on our way past. Thanks Fergzter for placing this cache.
Found this one today on our second visit. The first time the oval was being mowed so went away and did some of the rail trail caches then came back to make the find. TFTC
Cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked.

Day 2 of our caching trip to Ballarat with Freddo and Team Waldron, a quick find on this one : ) TFTC
After cycling more than 20km from Scarsdale along the BSRT I spent some time wandering around Linton.
I headed to this reserve just before the return trip, and being a quiet weekday there were no muggles around. I found the cache...not easily, but eventually !
Thanks Fergzter for this sneaky cache.
Found during a leap-year caching day, which included a FTF, multiple cache types, unloved caches, cycling the BSRT from Scarsdale to Linton, finding another newly published series at night... racking up 62 finds with just 2 DNFs by the end of the evening.

Today Dunko and I headed to Ballarat with the intention of reaching and passing 9000 finds,

Set off today with my caching buddy Slink1 to try and reach a mile stone number (9000) and I am pleased to say that we made that number and a few past (to be sure we counted correctly!). This cache was found as part of our effort to reach our milestone and my thanks go to Fergzter for the placement and maintenance of this cache. We had a lot of fun and some laughs along the way.

With a day off from working the weekend and a leave pass granted, all that was left for me to do, was pack up the geo vehicle with supplies including the 2 wheel manual vehicle and I was off at the crack of dawn. My day started at 5:30am and finished 225+ kilometres later at 5:30pm. 60+ caches found for the day and a few DNF's.
A few people had set up their caravans over the other side of the oval. Lucky for me there was no one playing nearby or on this side. It took me a moment to spot this one, one I've seen a few times before now. Stamped and returned as found.
[blue]Thanks for this trad cache, Fergzter [^]
Log and container in good condition.

Find No. 1204. Found with FUF009 at 2.26pm
No.42 of 56 for today.
After completing the Linton to Scarsdale part of the BSRT on our bicycles which we had planned to do for the the day, we now had the rest of the day to locate other finds.
Back in Linton where we had started our day from, we had a well earned pie and cuppa, then it was back on our bikes for one more nearby. So around we rode, and guessing what we would be looking for had no problems locating it. Back to the van, loaded our bikes and continued on to see what else we could find.

Find # 2736 @ 1426 H
No.42 for today.
Found with Tyred n Cranky
It was done, we had came down with a plan and had now finished the Linton to Scarsdale leg of the BSRT, there for it is now all found (until more placements)
After finishing our ride back in Linton and having a pie, salad roll n coffee. There was only one more cache to get close by before loading up the bikes.
Good cords and a little idea of what was waiting for us, made this one a quick find.

Left Melbourne yesterday, and set up camp at the Creswick Caravan Park.
After Alansee and Team Crackers arrived, we enjoyed the open fire place in the camp kitchen.
After completing another section of the rail trail, we swung by to attempt this cache.
It was found after a short search, and we happily added our names to the log.
A fun day was had, in the company of good friends.
Many thanks for placing this cache, Fergzter, for us and others to find.

Found with Team Crackers and The Drovers at the end of the Rail Trail ride. No coffee in town.
Heading through Linton, I decided to grab a couple of caches on my way. As I pulled into the reserve, there was no one about, I pulled up near the playground. Of course a car decided to pull up just after me to make use of the playground facilities. I walked to GZ, fortunately as I approached, I spotted what I thought was the cache which proved correct. I was able to swiftly grab it and sign the log discreetly nearby. TFTC Fergzter.
There was nobody at the Linton Recreation Reserve today. Many years ago we came here with the Millbrook Fire Brigade for fire demos.
There was nobody around today though, aside from myself.
I was on a mission to complete the back end of the current BSRT series and decided to grab this one on the way back into town.
As I approached GZ I saw something that looked a little familiar.
Of course, there was the cache! I sogned the log and off I went.

Another fine plan from LousieAnn to tackle the Smythesdale to Linton section of Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail and hunt the caches along the way. We arrived with 6 bikes and 4 cars so once we had headed to leave my car at the end point for later we were off. A bumper day of 61 finds for me including 54 finds and 3 DNFs on or near the rail trail. We had the luck of a beautiful spring day and tee-shirt heat as we pedalled our way through this very pleasant countryside.
Apologies, I’m still catching up on a few late logs from this trip! Once we had reached the end point of the bike riding this one was adjacent to where we had left the car so we couldn't pass it up. There were some friendly races to get there first but then, despite us all have seen hides like this we bumbled around until BernieH spotted it. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Fergzter.

Find #2176. Found @ 17:20 with LouiseAnn, Annoying Tarbit, gmj3191 (and PamJ), and BernieH.
Today was all about the BSRT series from Smythesdale to Linton. This was find #54 of #55, with #3 DNFs thrown in for good measure.
After completing the Smythesdale to Linton section of the BSRT, this one was way too close to pass up. With the bikes left back at the "station" under the care of PamJ, BernieH and I waked across, and the others drove. BernieH made the find after I missed spotting it, making it the second cache in a row where that happened.
The best bit of this cache was watching gmj3191 running towards the cache to try and get there before me, only to be stymied by a locked gate, and then watching him run all the way around and completely miss the nearby hole in the fence.
After this find, I waited with PamJ with the bikes while the drivers returned to the Smythesdale end in one car to collect and return with all the cars.
Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Fergzter

Our final cache of the day, it was funny to see gmj3191 take the wrong route to the cache, oops, I wasn't laughing, particularly after we found a whole in the fence he could have nipped through. We picked this cache up at 4:43pm.
SirJ-Oz, Annoying Tarbit and I hatched a plan to head to the east and pick up some of the caches along the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail. I had been here just over 2 years previously with group to collect the first half, so it was well time to come and collect the rest. gmj3191 (a member of the previous group) and BernieH also joined us, along with non-caching Pam.

Time: 4:44 pm
Date: Sun 27 Sep 2015
Today was spent cycling the Smythesdale to Linton section of the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail.
Our group was composed of LouiseAnn, BernieH, Sir J-Oz, Annoying Tarbit and wife Pam.
We had a great time. I haven't kept detailed notes on all finds but one or two stood out for a special mention.
It was a magnificent day, getting up to about 18 degrees, and for the most part was sunny with no wind. We generally felt this section was a bit more interesting than the previous section which most of us rode about two years ago.

Travelled up to Ballarat from Melbourne to do the BSRT between Smythesdale and Linton with some friends. Met gmj3191 (and GeoWife Pam), LouiseAnn, SirJ-Oz and Annoying Tarbit at Smythesdale where we organised a car drop to Linton and then commenced or ride at about 10:30 am. Enjoyed some great scenery and cache hides along the way and finished in Linton at about 4:30 pm.
The finalish cache for the day, apart from any others that might come by. A nice hide that blends well into it's environment. Recognized as soon as I spotted it though.

Heading home from Mt Gambier we stopped here to try our luck. As we walked to gz we commented how we were glad that the area was deserted as it could have been quite difficult or not possible if one of the sporting areas was in use. The cache itself took us a little longer than it should have as for some reason we were looking for something different when happily Diane spotted it and our name is now in the log.

Well a few days in Smythesdale saw fine weather today but Freezing.
We decided to risk it and off we set out in the GeoCruiser with the GeoBikes on the rack towards Linton.
A great ride albeit damn chilly. Really loving the BSRT. We also managed to grab a few local caches once had the bikes back on the GeoCruiser and heading towards camp.

Like a lot of other finders, I too grabbed this hide after coming off the rail trail. While searching a local pulled up and headed my way. "What are doing mate ?? " Turns out he was the president of the local something or other. After a quick explanation he stood back and watched me search. Luckily I found it soon after, he didn't seem to impressed. Thanks for the hide , a little bit different but was soon spotted. A favourite point added.
Been traveling on the trail until now. Had a flat tyre so I decided to get the rest in the car and on foot. As I was heading back to Scarsdale to start from that direction I was passing so I stpped for this one.
Looked everywhere until the penny dropped.

I was out with master 4 today placing some new hides on the BSRT and we decided to quickly stop and grab this one too as we headed home. Spotted it straight away as I have one of these to hides myself! Very clever though and I would never have found this as a newbie. Many thanks
Headed to Ballarat today with the bogonghazys to complete the BSRT series, the symbol series and to pick up a few extra smilies along the way.

After walking our feet into shreds along sections of the rail trail today, we decided to opt for some more individual caches in the Linton area. Parked at the railway station, studied some of the interesting information there and then set off to circumnavigate the oval.
Why is it that suss always fails to recognise this type of container? Luckily, the vulture came to the rescue and the smilie was saved!

All good things come to an end and after almost three weeks on the road in our caravan it was time to head home! We remember hearing a lot about Linton at the time of the December 1998 fire where 5 volunteers from the Geelong West Brigade were killed in a burn over. It was very interesting to see the town and put a smilie on our map.
Thanks to Fergzter for the hunt.

Dropped in today to refresh the log which was very wet and starting to go moldy. New log and new baggy to contain it is now in place for more people to find.
Nice quick find in a deserted area, as I strolled up to the object at GZ I thought I knew exactly what I was looking for but unfortunately I was incorrect, after a quick search I came up with the style of container I had suspected, but not quite in the place I had expected

Not so much a quiet and peaceful spot today. Muggles everywhere in both playgrounds and in between. Must've been the sunshine that bought them all out. The cache was quickly spotted, but had to wait a while to retrieve it due to all the muggle activity. Once that was done, I laid the log out in the sun for a few minutes, trying to get it a bit drier, it's very wet. Dried it off a tad and put it back in its spot, after signing. Thanks to fergzter for the hide.
