Between Oamaru and Rakaia we had four major stops to find caches. The first stop was at the picknick area by Pukeuri, where we found two caches with some historical aspects, then we stopped at the Glenavy Reserve walkway at Waitaki river bridge.
We moved on to Timaru and did some caches from the Saltwater creek walkway where we met Canadian geocachers and had a nice chat and our last geocaching stop was at Ashbury for a part of the Lake Hood trail.
The first two caches from this trail from our starting point, numbers 6 and 7, were both not there. The CO should check on them because there are a number of "not found".

I was intending to have an enjoyable cyclocache ride up the Salt Water Creek Walkway to Centennial Park. Once at GZ I fortunately decided to check previous logs. Uh oh, the last 2 logs were DNF's. Based on the loggings at #7 I decided not to bother searching. The cache is probably a candidate for archiving. The CO hasn't done any maintenance - is he/she still in the game?
Couldn't find it and there didn't seem to be any other hint item n the area. Thoroughly checked the block of wood by the post but it didn't want to move or open so assume not the cache.
The worse day for DNFs in ages, and this was the first one. I came to the fence (see photograph), which I interpreted as "stay". First thing I tried was the wood block. No, that wouldn't budge. I couldn't see where a small sized cache could be hiding. Maybe I should have dug a bit, although the rules say no cache must be buried, not even partially. I extended the search, but I couldn't find it. I am not saying it is missing; only I couldn't find it.
Out for a stroll. This one was missing but rayzr2 had a spare cache in his bag so fixed it up and messaged co with what he had done. found with rayzr2 who had previously found and chiko1 tftc
Replaced cache as only one stay and so many previous DNF'S had to have been muggled ... have messaged co
We hunted high and low but sadly think it has gone,as it wasn't where the Hint says.We even widened our search along the Track...
Passing through Timaru this morning so stopped and went for a bike ride to find some unfound caches along the Saltwater Creek trails. Another quick and easy find. Signed log, TFTC

Took a moment for the hint to register, then bingo! Dropped off a Geocoin and carried on to the next cache site.
Grabbed today while out for a wander with mrs abxt350 and the mother in law..... cheers
It was time to get on the bike for a nice ride up beside the Saltwater Creek.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Didn't need that self important gps for this GZ, it "jumped" out at me as i approached.. yelling "I'm what you are looking for, i've got a cache... nah nah n nah nah.." but i already had it in my hands much to the GZ's amazement.... or was it hunger setting in ?
Really enjoying my walk along the walkway this afternoon. Super quick find here thanks. TFTC #7147
998 Down in Timaru for indoor bowls nationals. No play today as we did not qualify for the triples so thought I'd find some caches.
Mallorcatommy and I were travelling through the southern island of New Zealand. What an amazing, breath-taking landscape! On our way we did some nice walks, enjoyed ourselves and found great geocaches. Thanks to all owners for nice hiding spots... We wouldn't have been to a few places without these little boxes!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Took my little grandson for a walk along this lovely walkway and found caches along the way. With kakariki
This cache turned out to be more of a challenge than I hoped for. I had a brief look for the cache on the way up but to no avail. I was determined to get this one so I was meticulous in my second search and to my relief I found the hidden clue which in turn led to a satisfying find. A tough one chingy, well done.
Fun day biking - the chicks didn't always join me for the hunt but everyone had a great day and covered a few km!
In Timaru for a wee family weekend getaway. Dropped Mrs G and Wee Dude at the track start and they ran to the other end, where I met them with wee wee dude. Nice one. Cheers.
