I was down in Auckland for the weekend. Friday I went geocaching in the Matakana and Omaha areas. Saturday and Sunday were family days and Monday I went geocaching in the Whangaparoa and Warkworth areas. We walked the kids to daycare and school then my youngest son and I set off on our day. This was one I didn't find last time I was in the area. I'd re-read all the cache owners maintenance logs and gleaned a clue from one of them. I was delighted to find this one quickly today. My GPS was 28m out though so I'm not surprised it's not been found since the 17th of June 2021 - over three years ago. Very pleased with myself. Thanks for your constant maintenance over the years with this one Smile

11-Aug-24
Checked - Almost in the open (fence side)

11-Aug-24
Thought I would give this a third try. The difficulty level is only 1.5 after all. Searched for quite some time but still no luck. Seems like many others having the same result.

04-Aug-24

01-Jun-24

My second attempt at this but no joy. Will wait for others to try before another look.

25-Nov-23
Two of my sons got jobs in the Aussie mines. One left his car at his brother's in Stanmore Bay for us to collect and sell for him. He's been gone a month now and we've finally got two drivers down here so we can take his car north. Hopefully the selling won't take that long.Nice to spend the weekend with two of my other sons and the Grand kids. The family had a prior arrangement this afternoon so my son Hayden and I did a bit of geocaching around the area. This was a very unsuccessful expedition with only 4/7 caches we attempted being found. Most unusual I must say. Oh well. We parked at the bottom and walked up. Some amazing trees growing along here. I know from reading the logs that the CO is good at checking this one but sorry we had to dnf it today. It must blend in ao well as there wasn't anything obvious. Did spot a weta though. Thanks anyway Smile

15-Apr-23
No joy for Mini McArgister and me here today, while staying in Arkles Bay for the weekend. Saw a cool soider hanging out though!

15-Apr-23
DNF. Considering that the CO has done a fair bit of maintenance on this cache we decided to give it a go after being empty handed at another nearby cache (I should always read the description before heading out! Or bring TofT). Sadly no joy despite widening our search.

05-Dec-19
Oh, the simple delights of turning a blue frown into a yellow egg yolk smile! In January 2018 on a previous NZ trip from the UK we had an early morning walk up this delightful part of the coastline and failed to find this cache. So much to our relief we saw that it was missing, and at 6 o’clock this morning we were out, still partly in UK time, on our first day in NZ and went straight to it. I’m really looking forward to the next three months of NZ Caching.

05-Dec-19
This one needed to be got - after a 3.30 am jet-lagged wake today we plotted a couple of nearby caches we had failed at previously. A great start when this one was found!! TFTC

02-Dec-19
Thank you for the cache!

02-Dec-19
Fishing hasn't been to good here lately but the view is great.

09-Jun-19
Headed up to Auckland to carry on working on those caches in the northern parts to see if there were a few that I could find before there were too many people about that would make me want to head back home to the quieter parts of the country. It was still well dark when I left as as it was only myself I got to listen to the cricket without Mrs Dragon telling me to change the station, ah bliss.

As I knew I would be early for my real objective, I took a bit of a circuitous route to Wenderholm Regional Park as I wanted to be there early as generally that was when it was quietest and the best light to be out walking in. Signed the caches CD (aka Cats&Dragons) to save space in many of the logs. Managed a grand total of 43 finds for the morning which I was quite pleased with.

Headed back towards Whangapararoa to collect a few that didn't have too many muggles around. Nice little street and an interesting parking location I made of it. well themed cache.
Thank you to all the CO's for their hard work in making this day possible, in both the placing the caches and maintaining them.

18-Apr-19
Out caching with the junior dispatchers today. Nice area! Took us a minute since the GPS was a little cranky (it's been a bit since I had to fire up this one). TNLNSL, TFTC!

14-Apr-19
I hadn't read the description and tried to take the hard way to the cache. Once I realised my error and went the easy way it was an easy find

22-Jan-19

02-Jan-19

18-Aug-18
International geocaching day so had to pop out from watching some great sport on TV and doing some chores in order to find one close to home.
Had a great rainbow to enjoy, and planned to park up the top and wander down to GZ.

04-Aug-18
Parked on the beachside and ran (most of the way) up the hill. Nice easy find, thanks

27-Jun-18
I tried to find a good parking spot, but went right past the best one. This made me do a long circle back around through the town to where I was originally, about 80m to the cache. Rather than risk a second loop, I just parked there and walked the rest of the way.
This was my quickest find of the day when I saw it in the first place I looked. TFTC.

04-Jun-18
Parked down at Arkles Bay and walked up the path. Nice quick find before I starts to rain again, TFTC

24-Apr-18
Don't sit down.

Thanks for the Cache.

24-Apr-18
In the area with the geo-kids and decided to stop for a few caches.

Walked up from the bottom parking spot and took a few minutes to spot a tell tale sign and the cache was soon in hand.

Thanks for the cache.

28-Dec-17
We climbed over fence still couldn’t find we tried to look in all the places but where could it be

28-Dec-17
Looked for some time without luck

29-Oct-17
We felt a bit stranded with this one. Checked for more than 30 minutes but could not locate it. We found something else that was a bit odd nearby, but we quickly ruled that out after re-reading the description where it mentioned it was accessible from the path side. Sad

16-Sep-17
Out with Jag50. Mrs Jag found $2 while searching for this cache (she has a way of finding money while out geocaching - I guess you could say she makes money from caching Big Grin). I spotted something of interest and upon moving away the leaf litter had the cache in hand.

16-Sep-17
Despite the bad looking weather decided to head out to Orewa and Whangaparaoa today with Aiden29 as we needed to pick up a purchase. Some of us took the hard way to get here while others took the easier route. Also found $2 in the process of hunting for the cache.

18-Mar-17
Thankyou azza-to....Found it so easily today ! Don't know how I missed it last time !

26-Sep-16
We looked everywhere I even climbed over the fence scared that I was going to fall we went to all the other caches in Arkles we had lots of fun

13-Aug-16
Oh dear ; second dnf in a row .....Not a good feeling ....
Parked down at beach . Scrambled up the steep bank to road ....Compass to me to some ginger plants , no sign of pill bottle ...

20-Mar-16
We were already parked at the bottom of the road after collecting the nearby Jaws cache. Kiwi thought we could drive to this one so we jumped in the car and drove a big loop around Arkles Bay & Whangaparoa township before parking the car in the exact same spot we left 5 or so minutes beforehand. Ended up walking back up the road from the beach to make the find. Kiwiscot soon had this one in hand. TFTC

05-Nov-15
On our way to the north we stopped at the nice beach at the end of the road. We found the cache after a short search. Thank you for the cache!

20-Oct-15
Checking around the cache area for a missing TB. Nothing found unfortunately. This is a very small container, so very surprised anyone could/would leave a TB inside.

18-Jul-15
Nice easy cache. Great spot and awesome views. Out with some fellow chargers. Tftc

08-Jul-15
Was in the area for work and had some spare time, so thought I would try for this one. I stupidly parked at the lower end so had to walk up....oh well....it's not like I don't need the exercise.

Found the cache quickly and thankfully had just signed the log and rehid it when the cars started coming down!

cheers

08-Jul-15
Hi.

Can the CO please mark the TB AUSS-SOME EDELWEISS Dog Tag that is logged into this cache as Missing, as it hasn't been seen in here since Jan 2014.

Thanks Smile

can the next person to this cache please confirm the Edelweiss TB? She has been round the world with 42,000 miles, would hate to lose her. She has been in the cache for a year. Thanks!

01-Nov-14
Parked down at the beach and walked up. GPS pointed to me another place, but since I thought that was unlikely, decided to search where I was standing. Lo and behold, put my hand straight on the cache. TFTC.

19-Oct-14
I was out this way today for a couple of tidal caches. Let's just say I learned something about tidal patterns and how they differ up here. Anyway, no where to park at GZ so parked at the beach and headed up to GZ. On approach I considered the most likely style of hide. I was not wrong as I put my hand straight on it. Recovered on replacement. Cheers for the cache placement!

15-Aug-14
Finally found it, parked right next to the cache as it happened. How? It was about 5:20am that's how. No one on the road. It took some searching though, but with a little determination it revealed itself, thanks for that!

27-Mar-14
Struggling initially to locate the cache then got caught out by a lovely muggle who ask " what have you lost " well I couldn't tell her the truth so lied and said I have lost my son dollar !!!! Which only then led to her searching on her hands and knees !!!!!!! what a lovely muggle. After she had left the area another quick search and the cache was to hand TFTC Big Grin

06-Mar-14
Well concealed, I'd had all sorts of theories from the title as to how it might be hidden - hmmm now that would be telling!

Loved the cache, loved this area and loved the company present even more!

Thank you for placing this cache, log signed and cache returned safely from whence it was found.

Thank you and greetings from the UK
