A Bridge too far!! (Westcoast) Franz Josef Glacier, South Island, New Zealand

When I created my pocket query just before I left home this cache was still active. That's why I didn't realize until now that it has been archived!!!???
I went there this morning (or midday rather after doing a heli hike at Franz-Josef Glacier) and the box is still in place. I found it not in the exact place where I thought it would be but very nearby in kind of the same spot - and signed the log book...
A pity it has been archived but currently it can still be found. And logged.
Have a safe trip back to the UK.

Während unserem Neuseeland Urlaub haben wir etliche schöne Orte besucht. Der ein oder anderen Dose haben wir einen Besuch abgestattet. Dieses hier gehörte dazu. Die Dose konnte sich nicht lange vor uns verbergen. Diese wurde dann schnell geborgen und muggelfrei geloggt.

Unsere Pocket Query war vom 12.02.2016. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt war der Cache aktiv. Die Dose habe wir nahe der Koordinaten des GZ gefunden.

During our vacation to New Sealand we visited many beautiful places and visited some caches. This one was one of them. The container could be found easily. It was retrieved quickly and logged mugglefree.

Our Pocket Query was from 12.02.2016. At this Time the Cache was activated. We found the stash nearly the coordinates from GZ.

Sorry to have to Archive this one but they are moving back to UK ..which is great for us...We loved reading all the great comments and remembering how lovely it is there....So sad we could not find anyone to take over .

The morning offered clear views of the FJ glacier, which was nice after two whole overcast and rainy days with zero glacier visiblity. We went for a walk to the Sentinel Rock viewpoint (along with a couple of busloads of fellow travelers) and it was a nice time. We also took the walk through the mature Podocarp forest to the Lake Wombat. The walk itself was nicer than the lake, at least today, but it was nice enough.

We found the cache easily on our way back to the FJ village. Signed and hidden without being spotted by any muggles!

An diesem regnerischen Tag ging es für uns heute von Greymouth nach Franz Josef. Nach dem Besuch des Wildlife Centres hatten wir noch reichlich Zeit und haben uns noch auf den Weg zu diesem Cache gemacht, den wir fix finden und loggen konnten. Vom Dauerregen völlig durchnässt haben wir den Abend dann in der Unterkunft ausklingen lassen.

Fifteenth find of the day!
We were out today going around the South Island, finding some caches. This was the fifteenth cache we found. We found the best point of entry to the cache from where we were.
After parking the car nearby, we headed off to GZ. A quick search resulted in a find with spot on coordinates. I stealthily retrieved the cache, signed the logbook and replaced it as I found it.

Actually it wasn't too far... It was right adjacent to Kiwi's Home and as I was already wet through dodged the traffic and retrieved this one too. Heading back home to New Plymouth geocaching all the way... Although it's a 1200 km trip by road in three days! TFTC

Franz Josef Glacier was our goal for tomorrow. For today we needed to get to the town to stay on the campground. So this bridge was right for us. A quick stop and easy find.

Came across a lovely couple while searching. They had a GPS unit and more experience than I - good thing, because the location given by the geocaching app is way off. Then I followed along as they found the nearby kiwi cache - I have so much to learn! TfTC

After our daytrip to Okarito we come here for a view to the river, the snowy mountains - finally free of clouds after hours of rain in the night before - and the two caches. We met D... Angel and found the caches together. Greetings and bon vayage! Thanks

Wandered around for a while with my husbands Samsung. Downloaded the app on my phone and found it in one minute

We were on our way down from Greymouth to Haast stopping at Franz Josef and Fox glaciers, this was on the way and the rain had eased enough to stop and look for this, quick find, SL, TFTC.

7:2 A lot of people around, I felt nervous pulling out a cache as a Policeman drove past!

Holidays in New Zealand! We have been looking forward to them for years. We had lots of time to prepare ourselves for a great trip. As geocachers, we also picked out a number of great caches. Armed with a "to-do list" and accidental encounters we were lucky to log many caches. Thank you for placing them and keeping the game go on!

A really nice day today where we visited Lake Matheson and the Fox Glacier. Thanks for the hides, a real added value on this beautiful day!!

Found this cache on our 4 weeks honeymoon through New Zealand. So many great places to see in this beautiful country.
On the 9th day with our campervan we drove from Fox Glacier to Franz Josef Glacier. We walked the track to the glacier and also some smaller ones beside e.g. to Sentinel Rock. On our way to the campground we also picked this one. Cache was found quickly.

On holiday from England and to celebrate our 60th birthdays we are exploring New Zealand in a campervan for 30 days. We are also attempting to get at least one cache everyday and in every place we visit. We are currently staying in Franz Josef for a couple of nights. Had to wait across the road for some muggles to leave, but once we homed in, it was a quick find. TFTC

Yesterday we had been to the glacier but the weather was not so fine. Today we aren't lucky at Fox Glacier, all over clouds, but also a little bit sunshine.

And on our way back to Franz Josef we made a short stop to find this cache in this area - and it was good to find

After a nice morning of quad biking, I decided to go out and claim the 2 caches in Franz during my free afternoon. It was certainly a surprise to see a cache placed by someone near where I live back in the UK. I overlooked this one at first in the first place I looked, but once I reached in a bit further, the cache was then found. TFTC.

#538 a nice quick find, first in Franz Josef and 4/4 for the day

We got up after sleeping at Wanaka and made our way up to Franz Josef. Picked up a couple of hitchhikers on the way added to the interesting day.

This cache was part of our 2015 New Zealand trip in which many great moments were had. Many views were seen and more photos were taken. Several caches were also found.
