WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 158 - Logan Day 11. Wow, the Logan event is over. I have one more day in the area before I start heading home. I had one last county to visit, so it was off to the edge of the Gold Coast to get a few caches. It was not as far as I expected and not far past Beenleigh. Once I had the county dealt with I decided to have a go at few more of the LACH Wigs. I had managed to send my pole home early, so had to skip a few fishing caches I passed today. I spent the afternoon preparing the van for leaving tomorrow and cooked dinner at the van. It has been a great visit to Logan, and there is so much more to see and do here, alongside some future caching trip.I had a nice walk through this well kept cemetery as I made my way to the cache location. I was happy it did not take too long to locate. Thanks for the cache Aussie Liahona49552.1 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & October 2021 Two Silvers for Charon 2 A#464**Albida**

No writing stick so have taken a photo for evidence if required. Here today with my Uncle Graham Marks on his 80th reminiscing with him. His family were some of the original pioneers of the area as severygraves will attest too.

29/3/2023 Find #5954
Wagging work wet Wednesday was upon us, and SaintsMadHouse and I had some serious goals to kick today… once I had finished at acupuncture that is.
The plan had been meticulously laid out by SaintsMadHouse for a productive and successful outing.
A waddling of ducks was roadside on the way down this road but flew out in front of us as the car neared.
At the cemetery SaintsMadHouse had some trouble with her eyes with a couple of the headstones here, however there was no trouble with my eyes finding the cache.
Thanks for the cache Aussie Liahona.

Today, my plan was to attend the CITO Event [Hardcore Clean-Up: Attacking the Aquaculture](https://coord.info/GC9YVBX) in Alberton, so I took the occasion of making a drive around the vicinity, as I hadn't really checked out this side of the M1 Highway and Logan River.
I set off a little earlier to find a few geocaches in Stapylton, and then arrived at the CITO to quickly understand how much work was required in assisting the clean-up. Following the CITO, there appeared to be a natural loop of geocaches (including the CDPT - Couchmen & D&Mocha Power Trail) that took me through Woongoolba and Cabbage Tree Point, and then circled around through Steiglitz, Norwell, and finally back to Yatala, where I had a late lunch at the famous pie shop. My drive did allow me to partially complete the *Our Early Settlers* Adventure Lab.

Another cemetery was visited whilst in the area today, and I found the sculpture on the western side of the cemetery interesting (but I didn't get a chance to have a closer inspection). After walking to GZ, the cache was a quick find, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. The only trouble I had was getting the rigid logbook out of the container's opening lip. Thanks Aussie Liahona for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

On my way to a CITO event in the area, today I took Maddie with me for a quick days outing. Having set myself a little personal challenge I still needed a few more caches for the day to complete. I saw this one on the map and we headed over to collect.

We parked outside and began to wonder down to GZ. An easy find here as the hint was a very good help. Seems no one has been here in a while so was nice to grab some unloved here as well. The spider gave Maddie a little scare. We signed the log and replaced all as found. Thanks for the hide, all good with this cache.

I believe this is my third visit here… and all for a D1.5… maybe it’s my caching partners who bring bad luck because today as I was by myself I made the find really quickly… I’m sure that hint is new… it’s here that the ominous grey clouds that have been following me for a couple of hours opened up… there is something about cemeteries and rain that just go together…

Thanks Aussie Liahona for bringing me here today, again… glad to finally turn this dot yellow…

After attending the CITO event at Eagleby this morning, I came to this area to climb a tree and now finding caches in the area before heading home.

I quite like visiting these pioneer cemeteries as there is so much history about the families who settled and raised a family here.

Made a quick find, SL then returned as found.

Unlike Captain Terror, Aussie Liahona is already my top hider with 103 hides (104 after I finish this log). I particularly enjoy her 'Resting' caches, as history junkies if AL has been anywhere near a locality and that town has a cemetery we know we can easily find it and will probably spend several hours wandering amongst the grave markers. They can tell you so much about a district without even knowing any names.

Today we were out and about working our way through The X-Trailers Early Settlers Lab - it takes the cacher through several local cemeteries, most of which have an AL cache. While pottering around in Pimpama we decided to have lunch at the Alberton Ferry Crossing (aka the boat ramp). With a sheltered picnic table, toilets, and plenty to see on the river; it ticks a lot of boxes for us. On the way in I spotted the sign for the Alberton Cemetery and could not remember if we had found it. During our relaxed lunch I checked my stats and sure enough had DNF'd it abut 3 years earlier and that settled our immediate post lunch destination.

Sure enough we made our way through the cemetery and found the container right where it ought to be. I can turn that blue frown upside down to a yellow smile. Thank you for another delightful 'resting cache'

Since we travel with petan, where they go we go but we still like Resting caches too. They can be interesting places and I am always interested in what people leave on memorial sites. Sometimes they can be toys or bears, and flowers are always common. Today we found a grave site where someone had left a can of Jim Beam and Cola, obviously in memory of all the good times they had had with the deceased ..... interesting, although I would not want to open it.

Today I also found a pen. It was on the ground near GZ. I think a geocacher left it in in memory of ???? I truly do not know but it leads to all sorts of possibilities.

Thank you for the cache

Quick find. TFTC we took some time to look through the area.

I'm back! And for the record, Aussie Liahona sent me the most lovely email that apologised for the missing geocache when I visited earlier this month. Which is appreciated, but also, so is a drive around the general Jacobs Well area. And today I felt like going for a drive and figured I might pick up my mission to put AL at the top of my hiders statistics and find this newly replaced geocache.

Also not lost on me was the fact it starts with the letter 'A'. I'm debating if I can find 26 geocaches in alphabetical order, this being a potential start. It certainly could be a potential start, but I need to plan 25 more geocaches first. Maybe a goal for 2021. But I digress badly again!

Today was about fourteen trillion degrees cooler than my last visit, no doubt due to recent rains. Those recent rains have been heavy so evidence of flooding was apparent as I wended my way from the highway to the cemetery. But also, it was hecka green too.

Beside the road at the Alberton Cemtery looked wet, but I could park and not sink, so that happened. I then wandered across the familiar site and only just now realised the shed probably is new. I love AL geocaches in part for specific, and clear hints. I read it and couldn't find the geocache. I read it again and it made sense on the second pass which resulted in a quick find. Definitely a comprehension issue on my part there!

Held in my hand, a little eclipse tin that means I've found more geocaches hidden by Aussie Liahona than any other hider. I really like that, and happy I made the effort. 192 of them, and so naturally I immediately ask if I should make that 200.

With my name signed (the first here for over a year!) and all replaced as found, I wandered around the cemetery, re-erecting a few flower pots and saying hello to the residents before departing for a circuitous drive via a cool drink at a local shop, plenty of lovely views and falling back onto the highway very far south from here. Thanks for this geocache and all your others too, Aussie Liahona Smile

Cache has been replaced after a new shelter was built where the previous GZ was.
Cheers and happy caching!

06-Dec-20
If I find just one more Aussie Liahona geocache, then they will be my top hiders! I quite like that!

Not to be rude and bump the Stanthorpe-based hiders out of the top spot, of course. With a recent blast around Kalbar, I just need one more hide to make this statistics-engineering a reality. This was my closest to home and figured we could make it happen today.

So, I have this horrid habit of DNF-ing Aussie Liahona geocaches. And I don't want to spoil the blue face associated with this log, but I drove to Alberton, enjoyed the cruise around the semi-rural roads, wandered across the cemetery and only then checked previous logs.

This didn't stop me. I looked anyways. For quite a wide radius. But, I must agree and conclude that the geocache is missing. And reckon I had a replacement in the car? Nope.

Really, I only have myself to blame. I am sure I'll come back here. For the smiley and the drive. And really, I did enjoy the drive! Until next time Aussie Liahona..

It wasn’t until we’d been here for about 20 minutes that I realised this cache hasn’t been found for almost a year...

We hunted around and did the dance of the scrub Turkey... we did locate a syringe, but could find a cache to save ourselves...

As a consolation we spent some time walking the cemetery...

Dusk caching in cemeteries is a fun and spooky experience, especially with the crop burning going on nearby. Squirrellette spotted a spider cache guardian as she was re-hiding the container and let out a scared gasp! Luckily she wasn't bitten as it honestly looked like a Wolf Spider...

31-Jul-17
Visited the cache after seeing a DNF on it and couldn't find it either so it must have been muggled.

We replaced the cache and it's ready to be found, so happy caching......!

Pleased I had the opportunity to be in the company of the CO today when the cache was replaced. This was another very well looked after resting place to visit and I hope this cache doesn't wander or get muggled like the previous one did.
Thanks Aussie Liahona for the good hide and for keeping your caches well maintained Smile

Another DNF on an Aussie Liahona 'Resting' cache today but this time I genuinely believe its not there.

Co-ordinates took us to a spot which matched the hint perfectly but alas the hiding spot was bare. We searched the general area but did not see anything else within a reasonable distance which matched the hint.

Thanks anyway for bringing us here, or perhaps it would be better to say, thank you for provided the potential for a smilie at places we like to visit.
