1424 for the tribeThe lure of a caching powertrail up this formidable structure was too much to resist, so we set out to tackle Walsh's pyramid. Left just after sunrise at 6:15 and returned exhausted but satisfied at 1pm, after finding 13 of the 14 caches searcher for and replacing the missing 14th cache. Mercifully, the weather was good. Got passed by a lunatic who did the pyramid twice in a row before I even summitted once! There has been a fire through here since a Geocacher last visited. I found a few on the way up when I needed a rest, and most of them on the way down including the bottom 5 or so. That seemed to work well. This cache was in terrible condition having borne the wrath of the fire. Log still signable though! Next cacher please bring a replacement cache and logbook, small size. Thanks for placing this epic series walterhellmut, and for encouraging me to come climb this structure. The Egyptian theme is clever, amusing and interesting all at once. Cleopatra and Caesar, I didnt know about that!
With the mystery caches already solves we set off early in the morning to hike up the pyramid on 21/8. We decided to summit first and then get all the caches on the way back. After making it to the top in approximately 1 hour 20 minutes, we started the much slower process of finding caches.
We made it down to Burial Chamber final coordinates, however was unable to locate the cache. Some of the trads had taken longer to locate than expected and the lack of breakfast was starting to lower geosense so we decided to call it and head down.
Today I returned and ran back up to the Burial Chamber cache and quickly located it, from there I quickly located and signed the final 5 lower caches.
A great hike and a great series of caches.

Our number 8 on the top 10 Australian mountains to climb according to Australian Geographic !!!
Bloody tough climb, but so worth it, and the BONUS of 14 of 16 geocaches found on our arduous journey to the summit, only 1 DNF and 1 Did Not Attempt...
Loved the Egyptian theme for all the caches, some clever puzzles and tough hides, we had an awesome day and thanks for your contribution walterhellmut to make it even more special with geocaches to break the climb, love your work

With an early start, although perhaps not quite early enough we had made our way to the top! The views alone were absolutely worth the effort.
As for this one, “ Working Hard”!, we certainly were, and even though we had begun the downhill trip, it was not to be underestimated and we were happy to stop and find this one along the way.
At the top we had stopped for some photos, and sat to chat with a couple of locals who had talked about a few other good walks in the area.
Now on the return trip, we had a few caches to look forward to as we walked down!
Thanks walterhellmut.

Cache number six for me today on a climb up Mt Walsh. With only the highest elevation cache remaining, I knew I was going to make it to the top so I stopped and searcher for this one. It was found just off the trail and the log book was quickly signed. Coordinates were spot on according to my device today.
I found generally that the caches were a welcome distraction on the climb which took my mind off my shortness of breath. This was no exception. By the time I found this, the day was starting to heat up, so I think my plan worked. Thanks very much for the cache placement and the pyramid series Walterhellmut, I am having a great day. Now to the peak.

Oh yes we were working very hard, so hard indeed that we had to skip a few caches on the way up and only found this one on the way down.

As the breeze wrestled the leaves and all the trees, the prize was found amongst the rocks where the photos suggested. If only we had a Kit Kat. Found with Mathieu the wise. TFTC
A bit concerned about my sanity and health at the moment. Legs are cramping. Thanks Walterhellmut
In Cairns for a few days to catch some sun (less so today). Spied this series and got excited about a great walk. Thanks for placing and looking after this series walterhellmut.
Found a bit below where my gps was indicating. 2m to left of path heading up. Spoiler very useful. Container in good condition.

This morning we decided to climb this mountain. Starting at 6:15am at the car park it took us a few hours up and stopped for a few caches and a drinking break on the way up. Collected about half of the caches so there is a reason to come back.
Thanks for the great hike and nice caches!

Missed this one on the way up, but used the photo and moved downhill, working harder than gpsr. Cache ok, but in a damp spot. Thanks for another one.
With a name like "Working Hard" ...
... never has a geocache been named so appropriately
By this point in the climb I was stuffed
I'm definitely not as fit as I was last time I climbed this 'hill'.
But even this olde caching carcass was doing it easier than some of the climbers half me age today [^]
"What are those things on your feet you idiots !!"
Jogging shoes don't do well in this terrain !
No wonder they were slippin' and a slidin' all over the place
Back at camp tonight,
my feet don't hurt,
but their feet just might
But despite the fact I was 'stuffed',
I wasn't really,
and after a rest and a search for the cache,
I felt revived and headed for the crest
TFTC ... Fave dance time

We left a few caches to find on our descent and this was the first one.
Had no trouble finding this one. All is good here.
Thanks heaps for this cache Walterhellmut.

A brief check revealed that everything is still alright and ready to be found[^].
Today we decided spontaneously to climb Walsh Pyramide. When we arrived the car park we checked for caches and noticed a lot of them.
Unfortunately we had to decide for a few. This was one of them.
One is clear: We will never run on top of the pyramide. Walking with breaks is already enough. We picked up this one on our way back. It was not a problem at all to find the cache.
Thanks for showing. Tftc

I certainly was working hard to get up this crazy mountain! However I didn't have to work too hard for the smiley, I managed to spot it without the aid of my navigational tool. I left my mark and continued on to my main goal, the cache at the summit.
Thanks for the smiley Walterhellmut

After making the iconic trip up to the very tip of Cape York we were sure to make time to find some caches and do some exploring while we were in far north Queensland We have been having a terrific time and have now found ourselves in Gordonvale for a few nights,
Mr Just a Trifle decided to tackle Mt Walsh while we were here and set off early in the morning to see how he went We had managed to solve a few of the puzzles, but no doubt there are probably some unsolved puzzle caches that he walked past along the track It was quite a bit of a slog, but eventually most of the caches were found and Mr Just a Trifle was very relieved to return to our camp site for a rest
The container was easily found and with our name added to the log book, we continued on our way.
Thank you Walterhellmut for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Solved all the puzzles in advance and set off to conquer the pyramid with Team BlackPearl 26 - Admiral Alex, First Mate Blackbeard (Danny) and the Samoan Picaroon (George).
We hiked Frederick's Peak (In Townsville) yesterday and have done some other long walks before but we (all except George) we were suffering for most of the difficult climb (and the downwards decent).
We left the car at 10:30am and made it back 5 hours later at 3:30pm after collecting all the prizes and pausing for photos and fatigue at regular intervals.
Certainly working hard now. The legs feel like jelly.
Thanks for the challenge and the beautiful views Walter. If it wasn't for caching I would never have come here. The legs aren't so thankful but they will recover and the memories will remain.

After having a drink and a bute to eat it was time to head back down. I looked for this one for a while but then a young couple started coming down so I gave up. After getting down to the next cache I stopped to take a couple of photos and they passed me. I made the quick dash back up the 120m or so and tried again. This time I found the cache !!!

On previous visits we have eyed off the walk and the caches up the pyramid. Knowing we would have this trip out of the wet we got busy solving the last of the puzzles. We has hoped for an early start but did get away as planed to find 6 other cars already in the car park. We generally tried to make the finds on the way up which helped with much needed breaks although we had to wait out some resting muggles near a couple. It was good having the photos from the cache page as it help narrow down the hides. Chicken Itzer was probably the hardest find. Just before half way we came across some muggles coming down who recommended going no further as they though the views from the nearby slabs were great and did not think the top would be any better. Little did they know we had several other motives to get to the top with still a number of good caches to find. We lost a pen some where near the top probably on one of the scrambles but picked up a spare once back at the car. Great views along the way and our later planed start saw us suffer in the heat more than we should have. About half way up we saw a large goanna scurry up a tree. TFTC.
The Pyramid is a must do. Always a challenge but with a rewarding view and lots of Geocaches. Will come back soon to find the rest. TFTC
Today I went up the Pyramide. Thanks to Walterhellmut to accompany me.

Several years ago ( make that many) I could see this little hill in the distance every morning when we sat on the front veranda of our house in Cairns. I no longer live in the area but was back for a visit as part of the CAFNEC Far North Wilderness Tour (bike ride).
Strangely in those days even though much younger (late 1980's) I never would have considered climbing this little hill or thought I had the capacity to do so. Wind forward 20 years and after almost 10 years of geocaching and presto- here I am.
I was lucky enough to have a friend from Innisfail volunteer to accompany me but the trade off when being with a non geocacher is (a) don't stretch the friendship where clearly they are impatient while we caches poke around under rocks (b) set a time limit for your journey with rewards at the end (read -pub meal)
Hence I did not get to complete all the caches on this little hill and had a few DNF's (limited time search).
The good news is now I still have to come back another time [^] A must do experience when in the north.

Taking on the mighty Pyramid with dazzpete today!
After we found this hide I thought is would be smooth sailing to the top, instead I had some of the worst meters on all of way, I was just out of energy, close enough to the top to me out of motivation too. Had to push myself for 30 or so of the last few meters up to the summit.
Appreciate it now in hindsight
Thanks for placing the cache here

In Cairns with work and thought a quick walk up the pyramid was in order.
Quick, I think not!!!
4 hrs return but an enjoyable walk. Didn't have time to grab all the caches so the top 2 got my vote.
Awesome views from the top and I will be back to get the rest.

Mein Gott, Walter…. What did you do to us?
It was skippy’s and my last day in Cairns and we wanted to collect a few special caches. After we found the pyramid series , it was quite clear that we would go for it. What can I say? If we would have known what to expect, we would never have started the hike. It was much steeper, much more exhausting and it took us much longer than expected. However the view and and all those nice caches rewarded us for this strain.
This was really hard work!

Working hard, and that is what we certainly did to get up to this one!!
Centocampisto had eyed off this adventurous tour back in Germany and sat down to solve the puzzles.
Today was our last day in Cairns and we took to opportunity by leaving the kids in the resort to climb this very challenging pyramid. And a challenging pyramid it was certainly was!! It was hard yakka for both of us. But the beautiful scenery and nature around was a great treat for all the sweat that we lost.
Some of the caches we found easily and others we had to widen our search because of the GPS signal. In hindsight, I was glad to see that snake crossing my path on the way down the pyramid otherwise I would have left one or the other cache on its path.
Thanks for this adventure!

Since arriving in the area a few weeks ago we have been admiring this amazing pyramid as we drive past it regularly. We decided we would like to tackle it before we left even though every time we drove past it seemed to get higher and steeper
Finally we could find no more excuses to leave it for another day and arrived at the base at 6.30 am to try to stay as cool as possible on the hike.
Looking for caches gave us an excuse to have a few more rests on the way up
Today as we log this we are delighted that we managed to complete the journey however our grey nomad knees are not quite so delighted
Thanks for the hide walterhellmut[^]

Muff1 had given me a taste of the mountain a couple of days ago. Today Muff1 and I are off for the pyramid adventure and now it is crunch time.... Up, up, up we go cache by cache, find by find..... Everyone on the mountain seem to be doing it easy - except me. So unfit. I think I can..... SL TNLN TFTC
Gosh we are nearly there, unbelievable. We are so tired but still excited, we think again of the people who race up this mountain and do not understand how it can be done in the time they do it. We met a young man on the way up who is going to compete this year and he was do the hike up just to check it out. SL TFTC
Together with Silli1310, we went on holiday for a year. If you have that much time, you naturally have to spend a longer time in Australia. So we decided to start by exploring Tasmania and then head north along the east coast. After we had been on the road for almost two months, we wanted to do a bit of hiking today and made a day trip from Cairns to the Walsh Pyramid. After sweaty kilometres of warming up, we came across this cache just before the summit, so we took another short break to look for it. Luckily we found the cache quickly, so we didn't cool down. Many thanks for sweetening the summit success and the cache.
On our [trip around the world](http://www.hoppundweg.piekar.de/) we came to Australia as well. We started in Tasmania, rented a campervan in Melbourne and went up the Eastcoast to Cairns. Then we drove all the way to the Red Centre. We finished in Darwin. We searched many caches and found almost every cache we searched for . Thanks to all the owners of these caches. Now, 2 years later, we recognized, we will never be able to log every cache seperately... So: Sorry for this standard logtext and thanks for one of the caches, which accompanied us on our journey.
Yep, worked hard to get to this one with sweat pouring of me I found this cache quite easy, im getting very excited as this cache is 499 for me!!! TFTC (and rest break)
Sorry, coming a bit late with my log entry.

We worked very hard to walk along the well marked path towards the summit of the Pyramid and this cache hide.
The weather was wet and windy, with a cool breeze blowing in strong gusts as we neared the top.
We located this cache along the way. Thanks Walter, we really have enjoyed this series of caches. Very challenging and with a fun theme.
