The park has been changed and the geocache has gone. I was there recently, on a visit from England, and did not find the cache.

09-Oct-16
Has not been found for some time and the original park is no longer there as has been re done by council. Could this Cache please be archived.

Don't think this one is here anymore, searched for a while couldn't find.

nothing at cords. Might have been muggled

22-Apr-16
Was easy

Wandering past the park where this was today. Park is gone! Totally levelled! Amazingly the cache was just lying on the ground in plain view so I rescued it.

I'm not sure what to do with it but logic suggests I should replant it if they rebuild.

14-Apr-16
Play equipment is gone, as too the cache?

I love it when I am in a new area for work, today I was on a day course at Macquarie Uni and afterwards I had a lot of choices to look for a cache in the surrounding area. I decided to go out of the Uni area and the crowds so I chose to do this cache. After crossing the oval it didn't take me long to find the cache as the coords were very good. Nice find today. Good fun Very Happy

#2912 - Found this arvo and no-one around thank goodness. Nice easy grabble. Good for geokiddies. Many thanks to the cache owner andrewturner for establishing and maintaining this cache.

28-Feb-16
Might have been due to the very busy dinosaur cafe, and excitement of adult-sized swings (it's ok, the geokids got a turn eventually), but no luck finding cache. Appreciated bubbler on the warm day.

28-Feb-16
Had fallen off and was hard to find!

28-Feb-16
And found - thanks to a bit of persistent stick work! With a small swappable treasure to find thanks to GeoK and GeoA.

22-Feb-16
Ratio did the looking for this one, I was the looker outerer!! Nearby muggles must've thought we were crazy, but perhaps they were fellow cachers?? TFTC

07-Feb-16
Nice to see a grass athletics track. They seem to be disappearing. Due to the name and the cache notes we checked out some of the poems from A Shropshire Lad. Not the cheeriest of verse. Can only surmise they reflect the CO's mood upon ending his visits to Australia. Did some CITO here. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

I'm glad there were no muggles around today, because I must have looked bizarre hunting for the cache!
Fortunately this one didn't take too long, the clue really helped.

I groan when we come to playground caches but today, even with the school holidays, this one was empty and luckily we had CIH in a minute. Thanks andrewturner for the cache Smile

The place wad nice and empty.
Now for a philosophical question, I'd no one is around to see a geocacher doing something strange, did it really happen?
Thanks for the cache.

Streak day #236 - Ugh, it's Monday again. So sick of work right now. This morning I had to drop my friend back to the airport. Thankfully I made great time so I wasn't late for work. I survived the day thanks to a quick nap before starting and another during lunch. I can't wait until I can get a proper rest this weekend. This evening found me out at Macquarie again for another figure skating lesson. Afterwards it was time to find my cache for the day. This was one of the closest that I haven't done, I have a widening circle of smileys around this area, so I decided to give it a go. I pulled up in the carpark then headed across the oval. I had no idea it was a full athletics oval, I almost fell oval the long jump sand pit on the walk back out. I made a beeline for the GZ where it didn't take me long to have CIH. I had just finished signing the log when I heard someone talking not too far away, hmm there be muggles. I turned my torch off as quick as I could, then put the cache back as I found it by feel. Looking around I realised there was someone sitting in the dark having a smoke several hundred metres away on the same side of the oval as me. It seemed an odd place to sit in the dark, but thankfully they didn't bother me at all and I doubt they could see what I was doing since I had blocked their view. I kept an eye on them as I crossed the oval again, but they didn't move. I think my near miss with the sandpit was because I was trying to watch them rather than where I was going. TFTC. Definitely an interesting location.

Find #: 1,155
Companions: None
Muggles: A few on the field
Weather: Cool winter day

My daughter was at a birthday party at the Macquarie ice rink, and I had some spare time while waiting for her to finish, and as is my style used it to go caching; this was my 6th and final for the day. I parked at the main carpark and headed across the field. There were a few kids training for athletics, practicing their sprinting and long-jump, but nobody near the playground luckily, given I was missing my geokids for "camo". I first found a likely hidey-hole, but it was not with-container, so I looked around a bit further. I was a bit distracted by a comment in an earlier log that turned out to be inaccurate, but when I went back to basics made the find in a logical place. Thanks for the cache.

Travelling about on a geo-tour of the area with Opa-shriek and GeoJorjy today, we found ourselves at this oval, and then, after crossing the oval where several muggles did their varied thing, to geojorjy's delight, we found ourselves at a quiet little playground - GeoJorjy headed off to the equipment to play, while Opa-Shrek and I commenced the hunt... And I think for a little while too long focused on where our devices (which had been sporadic in the helpfulness today) pointed us, and a specific spot that seemed like an obvious hide (even though the cupboard was bare) - it didn't help that I'd read a recent log that kept us focused on that spot either... Then while we were still looking about we hear ”I see it" coming from GeoJorjy who promptly plucked the cache from a spot we had scanned but barely checked. Gotta love the eagle eyes of an 8 year old who wasn't even looking for it....

03-Jul-15
Really ... Shropshire ... how exciting! This cache made me think I needed to have a coffee ... Wink

This cache took a little longer than it should have ... while 8 year old GeoJorjy headed for the playground, we headed to where the GPS pointed us ... a nearby natural structure where we found a likely hidey hole. Unfortunately, it was bare so we continued looking for other possibilities . BUt, while doing so, we heard a call from GeoJorjy, "It's over here!" and indeed, it was. The eyes of an 8-year old sometimes amaze me!

Thanks for the cache Andrew and for the smiley ... and for reminding me of that Moccona advert.

06-May-14
Easy spotting the structure but to find the cache I had to look at the most obvious position twice.

30-Apr-14
Detour this way again on the way home, the things we do while keeping the streak alive...!!!
Good coords in the end and after looking at the hide position once and over looking the hide, we had a good look around the park before returning to the right place for a closer inspection and CIH, Doh...!
SL and returned as found.

23-Apr-14
First cache for the day. Wanted to throw my GPS receiver looking for this one. It took me everywhere within a 25 metre radius of the GZ lol.

Pretty easy find eventually. TFTC!

18-Apr-14
Found at 4:27pm. I parked in the carpark on Sobraon Street and made my way across the field. I needed to dodge a couple of runners on the track on my journey but arrived at GZ safely. There was a family of muggles on the playground nearby so stealth was necessary. I roamed around in circles until the GPS settled in, once I zeroed in, I began my search, made the find within a couple of minutes.

Parked at the oval main parking, of course on the walk around to the cache it was obvious I could have parked much closer. I don't really like caches on playground equipment as it can look too suss if there are kids around. Luckily today there were just a couple with their mum on the other piece of equipment so I was able to look under and make a quick grab without looking too much like I was up to no good. Thanks andrewturner.

Finally grabbed this one near home. Took the gz sniffer for a walk and played on the swings with gk while SL.
Replaced with the clip at the top of the container for easier retrieval. Nice shady spot. The coords are spot on.
We were watching the little a's train for a while and then walked back home.

Found on a Friday afternoon during a slight detour on the way home from the office. There were a few walkers doing their thing around the oval but the playground area was all clear. Many thanks andrewturner

Today I finished work from Macquarie University and walk to this park look for caches and I found it. Then I catch bus to Eastwood train station.

08-Nov-13
Visited Shrewsbury (pronounced "Shroves-bury" apparently some years ago so I've been to Shropshire. Didn't know this park though. Saw there were no DNFs so it must be easy. Stuck my hand in a spot I didn't fancy and found nothing went elsewhere but no dice. Then went back and dug around a bit before putting my hand on it. Signed and replaced. Log can be difficult to get out even when put in the right way.

Thanks!

HannahBandana was insisting it was where it was.
I wasn't listening and was sure it was somewhere else.
She was right, as usual Smile

02-Nov-13
Daddy and I went geocaching and I knew exactly where this one was.
He didn't believe me and went wandering off all over the place.

01-Nov-13
I knew the park as I'd been through here with geodog.
Today it was quite busy nearby as the folk in the neighbouring care centre were outside having their morning break.
Cache was in the 1st place I looked but I had to look a 2nd time as it looked like a spiders hideout at first glance.
I wondered which house the CO stayed in when he was here and whether his rels were watching me!

I haven't been to Shropshire but I have seen it on "Escape to the Counrty" and it looks like the sort of countryside I'd enjoy.

In the cache description it says to return the log with the clip at the top to help future cachers.

THIS MEANS CLIP NEAR THE LID.

I had a lot of trouble getting it out as it was upside down, as I've had trouble with these things before, I now carry a tool to help.

An amazing piece of athletic infrastructure in the middle of suburbia. Thanks at.

#188 (1 of 6 today)

Big athletic oval - not expecting that. People in the park but luckily no one near GZ.

GPS took me to the part of the park I had hoped it wouldn't. When it settled was confident I knew where the cache was - and I was right.

It’s been just a little too hot for me over the last couple of week to go caching, That and the Geo Dawg still recovering from her Knee operation, She’s undergoing Physio at the moment, She reckons she’ll right to go in a couple of weeks. She can’t wait. So I decided to travel down to Sydney this evening after dark to try to find some caches in the Frenchs Forest and Ryde area’s. Nice cache. TFTC

He stood, and heard the steeple
Sprinkle the quarters on the morning town.
One, two, three, four, to market-place and people
It tossed them down.
Strapped, noosed, nighing his hour,
He stood and counted them and cursed his luck;
And then the clock collected in the tower
Its strength, and struck.

This one was a bit annoying. I found the cache in one of the first places I checked but, unfortunately, the first time I looked there I didn’t notice the cache. I stood scratching my head for a while as I could not see anywhere else likely within quite a few metres. Eventually I had a more thorough look and had CIH.

I spent some time in Shropshire the last time I was in the UK. I made Ludlow my base as my parents were there at the time. I can attest to the fact that it’s a beautiful part of the world as, unlike Housman, I write this having actually visited and explored the county Smile.

Thanks andrewturner, I hope you enjoyed your stay.

Found on a hot Sunday morning. Muggles were using the swings but we don't think they noticied. TFTC andrewturner (aka Grandpa!).

Well it is not often to find a cache inspired by poetry, should be more of it I say, one creative process linked to another, it is a logical sequence. So I did a bit of a browse of his works, and found a few to my liking. Here is one:

XIII

When I was one-and-twenty
I heard a wise man say,
`Give crowns and pounds and guineas
But not your heart away;
Give pearls away and rubies
But keep your fancy free.'
But I was one-and-twenty
No use to talk to me.

When I was one-and-twenty
I heard him say again,
`The heart out of the bosom
Was never given in vain;
'Tis paid with sighs a plenty
And sold for endless rue.'
And I am two-and-twenty
And oh, 'tis true, 'tis true.

Thanks for the introduction AndrewTurner and TFTC

After seeing this once finishing placing a cache in pennant hills. I broke a few laws in the hunt for this one as badly wanted another FTF. Sadly this was not the case as was beaten by 3 other cachers.

Geocache # 918.
Found on Saturday, 19th October 2013 at 2:27 PM.
Conditions: sunny.
Current streak # 80 days.
Today's finds 1 of 1.

I was planning to go with sunhalo and Goughy2012 to attempt a cache down the back of Turramurra this afternoon to keep my current streak going but saw that this one had been recently published and the plans quickly changed. Spoke to Goughy2012 and he had the same idea so we agreed to meet there. Upon arrival at Dunbar Park, I parked in the main car park off Sobraon Street and marched across the well maintained athletics field. It ended up a being a friendly foot race as Team Lego Men were spotted coming from the Koorong Street end and then I saw ernest coming from the direction of Vincentia Street (nice to meet you guys). We converged on GZ almost at the same time and started searching straight away in the right spot. After only a few minutes of searching one half of Team Lego Men placed their hand on the cache and we agreed to share the joint *FTF*! We performed the signing duties and retuned the cache to its hiding position just as I saw Goughy2012 walking across the oval… sorry mate, next time we will get it. Goughy2012 took it in his stride and said he was held up in a bit of traffic on the way there, which was a shame. Anyway, I actually had this park on my list of places to plant a future hide but glad someone else has beaten me to it, TFTC andrewturner and congratulations on your first hide!

A fairly close-to-home placement but a bit too far to walk to chase a ftf. So after geowife returned home from shopping, geoson and I grabbed the car and went looking. We found it and signed the already busy log. Congratulations to the early hounds and thanks Andrewturner for placing it.

19-Oct-13
Perfect timing! Upgraded to premium just last night; got the notification this afternoon and ran!
Quite ironic that this is where I used to have athletics carnivals, as I ran out of puff around five ways...

Not much to say as JordsAU and TLM have already logged, but I did think it was amusing that we all arrived at the same time yet from different directions

Congratulations TLM on the official FTF (thanks for letting us sign it, too!) and nice to meet you Team Lego Men, JordsAU and Goughy2012 (bad luck!)

Thanks for the cache, andrewturner (and TDM, I will assume), best wishes on your return

19/10/13. 3:10 PM. Cache #982. I had way too much on today and barely any time free for caching. So when a couple of newies popped up on the iPhone (this one and another at The Ponds), I saved them and then carried on with what I was doing. By the time I could duck out, I had only a small window (about an hour and a half) for caching. Thankfully, TLM had already logged their FTF find by the time I left, so there was no pressure to get here quickly, but I still wanted to knock this one off as it was (for a little over an hour) my second closest unfound to home. Trying to keep my 5km home radius close to finished (only 4 to go) gets difficult when newies are popping up all the time!

Luckily this was an easy park and grab, and by the time I refreshed the logs on my phone and read the paper version, I could see that TLM had not been the only FTF but there had been a bit of a stampede. Calmly signed as 5th and headed off to "Vimiera", which was the first of 2 DNFs for the day. (So in the end "A Shropshire Lad" ended up being my one and only find for the day in what was a short caching window for a Saturday. Sigh). TFTC }:)

Woohoo!!! FTF @ 14:27. Lucky that we left home when we did as on arrival at the park spotted someone walking across the oval and then as we got closer spotted someone coming from another direction. The race was on. Cache soon located and the three of us signed and departed after a short chat.
