New Zealand 2024 Day 2 : AlbanyDropped by here after a long trip from the South side of Auckland for a round of caching. The weather looks less punishing today, so heres hoping for a productive day out and about into Cache City. This is the specific log for this cache:Solved this ages ago, but finally made it up here to find this guy. I am partial to a nice but still tractable puzzle, so this was a neat one. Easily found on a walk around Albany today, so TFT? And cache!
**21,916**Had to wait for a couple walking their pooch before retrieving the cache, quickly signing the log and then replacing it. Glad to have this puzzle ticked off too. TFTPC
1st cache I've done in a while.Stopped nearby for a bite of lunch. Rain had stopped so thought I'd look to see if any of the new caches in the area were close byNo, no new cache but one that I'd solved quite some time ago, lovely that it is still going. TFTC
Enjoyed solving this puzzle a while back, and glad to see the cache updated recently, which made for a nice easy find today. TFTC!
Called in yesterday and put in a replacement cache about 1m from the old hide. Hint has been updated.
For the first time in a long time, we were able to join in on a Team SEAC adventure. This one was to help one of the members finish off their D/T grid and also for other members to reach a great milestone. This also helped our LiveKiwi knock off some of the cells in their D/T grid, which they probably wouldn't have done in such a hurry by themselves. So, we headed to the North Shore for our first caching foray for the year.Since we were having lunch a stone's throw away, we just had to give this one a go, so we did. Unfortunately, the coordinates didn't take us to the objects hinted at as there were none there. We checked out some that were nearby, but that turned up nothing as well. We looked at other objects mentioned in logs but still came up empty-handed. After a while, and with time ticking on, as we had a cache to get at low tide, we decided to call this one and move on.
A fun puzzle to solve, but unfortunately nothing at GZ that fits the hint. Hope to be back when the cache is here
DNF. Fence has seen better days and is in serious disrepair. Solved during lockdown but no joy at GZ today.
Watawieh from Norfolk Island South Pacific.
I had solved this puzzle during one of my many bouts of iso during Covid. Today while completing the nearby Adventure Lab I was able to make the find. TFTC

I solved the puzzle a little while ago but didn’t have a chance yet to retrieve the cache. Tonight was the night. As I had been looking through previous posts I knew I was looking for a rock and soon found a good specimen. It took quite a bit of searching and stealth as lots of muggles were out walking. It was also getting dark but with the help of a torch I finally managed to find it. I realised that it had been a long time since it was found and the cache was truly stuck in the ground but the log was still good. Glad I can finally tick this one off. Thanks for a fun puzzle.
I do not like going to the mall, but sometimes (like today) it just needs to be done. Luckily there were some caches nearby so I could have a bit of fun before heading inside and braving the crowds.
This was the first. I solved it 15/08 but first looked at it back in the February lockdown. I love logic puzzle grids like these, but messed up early on first time and then put it aside. Picked it up again in August and started over, this time with a different system for keeping track which worked much better. I had read the last few logs before arriving at GZ so knew where to look as the hint isn't right any more. Cache was a quick find and I'm glad I didn't have to touch the spiky plants nearby when retrieving it. All in good condition. TFTP and C KC!

Solved this some time ago and had a couple of looks for it using the hint, but didn't have any luck. If only I had read the log which said "the hint should be rock now". Got Daddypig123 to drive me around tonight and he picked it up straight away.
A quick pick up involving stealth due to many Muggles. Thanks for replacing this cache so I can claim my first ever puzzle solve. Currently sitting on convenient rock to log this and eat my lunch(camouflage)
Decided to have a day cacheing day just out of Auckland

Heartened by the recent replacement of this missing cache by some Mainland friends of mine, I vowed to swing in and make the find next time passing. Tonight was the contrived night for that and I headed to GZ full of hope. No worries with the find and replaced as found.
Puzzle was a good solve for me during lockdown 2 and good to get another kiwicouple cache.
Another caching day after work as today is one of my want to improve calendar days. mrs capperz was along for the ride and a modest 4 caches was the haul and all were good.

Thanks to Isis who had noticed this cache missing and organised a replacement. Of course that was a great advantage for us but I know for a fact that this kind of forward thinking is very helpful to COs. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide. - - - Actually a good hint would now be "rock".
None of us made it to the Mega this puzzle was developed for and unfortuanltely the Mega we had intended on attending this weekend had to be postponed. But we have had a fantatsic weekend based around your smiles series. Just collecting a few more today as we slowly head back to the airprot. I really enjoy logic puzzles and nutting through the clues and logic involved. so this was a fun solve. We all really wanted to come and replace it today to thank you both for your contribution to our great weekend. TFTC # 16,134
Mrs SoBad was here with 3 other cachers from Nelson. One of the others had both solved the puzzle and arranged with the CO to replace it. Mrs SoBad's contribution was limited to finding an item to help secure the cache. Log signed as INSS.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Arrived at GZ we searched for the cache. One of our tean had permission to replace the cache.

Had puzzle solved for a while, I love these. Took a nice stroll out from the Mall, found posts which matched photos. Sadly no cache in sight. Quite disturbed ground by the posts and signs of vicious mowing. Could cache be lost?
Ended up taking a few detours with other cachers to find a few caches that had proven difficult after attending the International Geocaching Day event in Murray's Bay. I was now on my way home, but just had to find a few more caches on the way.
I have had this solved for quite a while now. Decided to finally make the find since I was somewhat close-by. Thought there'd be plenty of parking around here on the weekend but no. I managed to park in the 5 min loading zone figuring it wasn't going to take me that long. Approached GZ and saw a muggle sitting closeby. Once I figured out where the GPS was pointing I realised that I should be able to find the cache without him noticing me. Just as I approached another muggle was walking up the path. So I sat down by GZ and tied my shoelaces until he had walked past me. Then it was a quick find.

Find number 5672. Spending the day caching with supernannny clearing some puzzle caches we had the final coordinates for. Being an Aucklander she did the driving and I gave directions. After a little search at GZ the cache was found in a very sad state. So it was back to the car for a replacement. This placed the wet and soggy mess was disposed of. Thank you for the placement.
Remember going to Kiwi Couple's Puzzle Solving talk in the Auckland Mega at Albany in 2013.
We worked on 3 or 4 examples at least.
I was a newbie back then.
Anyway it is now time to finally find and sign!
Replaced with a tube covered in green tape .

This one has been on our solved list for a long time, but we have never been in the area to collect. We were unexpectedly in the area today so stopped off to collect this one - we should have read previous logs before setting off, as we would have taken a replacement cache as the existing container is in a bad state with no lid and no log.
#565. I used to love these puzzles as a kid, like previous finders have mentioned I used to do them in books while I was at the beach as well.
I thought maybe I'd forget how to do them since it's been such a long time but it was no problem. This puzzle was really well written !
As for finding the cache.... I was going to write that it probably won't last much longer, however now that I look, people have been saying that for the last 2 years! And to be honest, given the nondescript area that GZ is at, plus the amount of rubbish around that's been there forever, plus the complete lack of progress on the developments around, this cache will probably be there for a lot longer!
However it is true that it is in bad shape - missing a lid and with a log that cant be written on. So I shall attach my photo - the same photo as the cachers before me.
Thank you very much for the puzzle and the cache!

As others have said, this container is in pretty bad shape. It's still there today, but not for much longer I would guess.
I enjoyed solving this puzzle a few months ago, and as I was in the area for a meeting this evening, I made time to stop by and complete the formalities.
No trouble finding the remains on the container, but certainly no chance of signing the remains of the log.
If there's anyone else out there who's solved the puzzle but not found the Final yet, I suggest you do so soon before it goes AWOL...

Solved the logic puzzle yesterday. Compared to the other mystery caches I came across so far, this one is pretty easy, at least when you are familiar with these kind of logic puzzles. That's good
The cache itself needs maintenance though. TFTC

I solved this puzzle some time ago, but missed the cache when I stopped by. Today, the cache was an easy find.
I don't want to sound repetitive, but the cache container really needs to be replaced. TFTC.

Had this one in the solved pile since the mega back in 2013. Didn't attend the puzzle solving session during the mega as we were far too busy finding caches.
Today we needed to head to Albany to pickup a Trademe purchase and spent the rest of the afternoon finding caches in the area. These solved puzzles were our first target. A fairly steady stream of muggles passing, but we made the find fairly quickly. As others have stated, this one is in a bad state of repair as it looks to have been clipped by the mower. We signed the piece of paper left by the previous finder and left back where we found it. This one needs replacing. TFTC!

I've been down from the far north collecting solved puzzles. This is my last one to find as I head home. I printed the worksheet out ages ago, looked at it and filed it. Knowing I was coming down soon I dragged it out, asked Google how to solve these logic puzzles then worked my way through it. It was great to end my time down here with a find. As per the previous log the cache is in a bad state. Thanks for the cache to teach me another way to work out these word problems
Solved this puzzle quite a while ago and had visited the area once before but after a good start to that day things started going wrong so abandoned the search for these caches.
I tried for this one last time I was here and it was one of the main reasons why I called it a day as something was clearly wrong in the location I found myself. I came home and rechecked the co-ordinates even though I was sure I was right the first time only to find that I must have copied two of the numbers into my spreadsheet incorrectly (they were the wrong way around) which put me on the other side of the mall.
This time with the right co-ordinates I immediately found the mentioned items and searched a few until making the find. Have to agree with the previous comments here. Cache is in really bad shape (see attached photo) but no point in replace here as this area is most likely to be redeveloped soon. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

As the previous callers said the cache is damaged. Enjoyed the puzzle which was straightforward enough. Probably needs to be relocated
I used to love doing these logic puzzles as a teenager. This one was relatively easy on the scale of things. Got the final coordinates and like the previous finder, the cache site is a mess with the construction. TFTC.
I used to love this kind of logic puzzle when I was younger - I think you could buy magazines of them and sit and work away on them. I guess the internet does that now, haven't looked to see. Anyway, I was able to throw the rust off and work through the puzzle and come up with a correct answer.
Today we were working through geocaches over the wrong side of the bridge and came to get this after enjoying some G--2 goodness in a nearby park. Our worries were raised when we saw the extensive building turning this area into residences. All the way right up to GZ is now behind a fence as it a construction zone. Luckily enough, while GZ is not behind the cordon it has been affected and disturbed - one feels this locations days in its current form are seriously numbered. We found the cache not at the post we expected but amazingly did find it. Will log a NM as the lid is cracked in multiple places and is leaking badly, the replacement log is toast so we added a new temp log, that I fear won't do much better. I guess this is the price of progress, as the work in the area is probably responsible for the cache damage.
Thanks for making up this fun puzzle - would be nice to see it get a new lease on life. To other would be finders, I wouldn't muck around getting it as it is probably an endangered species.

I love logic puzzles and have done them for years so I enjoyed the solve on this one. It was nice and quiet here today as when I arrived at GZ I thought I might be in for a search, then I spotted something that resembled the hint and quickly found the container which was full of water. I emptied out the water, but thankfully the log was only slightly damp inside it's plastic bag.
4pm - Lots of people about so just had to be careful collecting cache. No log sheet in container so replaced it with a new one. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We have finally reached the last act of our current license challenge... We need to find four more high difficulty caches to complete Endorsement HD. After five months, this is becoming a burden... We have lots of alternatives should plan A, B, C, and D fail...
We attended the 2013 Auckland Mega... We were still very green then, and the thought of solving puzzles seemed too challenging, so we didn't try... Nor did we attempt to learn about puzzle solving by attending the Mega classes that could have been helpful... Fast forward, and we are now far more confident with experience under our belts.
Logic puzzles are among our favourite types, so this didn't take too long to ponder over... We did find the hint a bit troublesome, as there didn't seem to be any markers that matched at ground zone. However, a bit of scratching around revealed the clip-it container. The box held some water and no logbook. Gap found a replacement and we returned the cache as we found it. TFTP and TFTC.

#10662. After mixed fortunes with the mega puzzles, it was good to finish with a find. It was pretty busy near GZ and we were lucky to get a park close by. TFTC.
Phew after 2 DNFS on the trot it was good to find this cache, and a nice easy find thanks to good co-ords and a good hint too.
I have always found logic puzzles pretty straightforward and this was no exception. Thanks for the puzzle, KC and thanks for the hide, Glyn.
Time to head back to our accommodation in Castor Bay for a late lunch and a bit of a rest.

Nice hide. I had to double check with the CO to make sure I had solved this one correctly, as the area is rapidly changing. TFTC
Needed to take a 50/50 gamble when solving the logic puzzle. Guessed correctly and was rewarded with some very likely looking co-ordinates. Visited today with Kiwiscot & Scotty. Excellent hide right under everyone's noses. TFTPuzzle
Had to tried to find this one a previous time, but recently saw a 'found log' so decided to give it another today. Success. And helps us with a road trip badge. Great hide. SL. TFTC.
Tried to find this cache ages ago but the circumstances prevented a really thorough look. At an event today I spoke to the CO and discovered I'd been looking in almost the right spot so had to stop off on the way home to take another look. Sure enough, had possibly actually touched it last time! Thanks heaps kiwicouple. Great to talk to you today and love the hide.
Enjoyed solving the puzzle, use to do these logic ones alot before smartphones. Good old pen and paper puzzles were an old favourite. Alas must have left this one too long, we couldn't locate it.
Dropped by here for a quick bite after finding a few caches around Silverdale.
Couldn't find anything, unfortunately.
Couldn't find anything, unfortunately.
Solved this one a while back and today had to drive by and switch drivers and took the opportunity to look for it. Co-ordinates spot on for the clue but didn't find it. Unfortunately we didn't have more than a minute and the weather was too blustery and cold for my daughter who was with me. Also the items in the hint are not cut down to ground level and not sure if they were this way at time of placement? Thanks for the puzzle anyway kiwicouple.
Solved this one aaages ago at the Mega, but I never got around to finding it. Today my and my other half were out going shopping and heading off the cinema and I thought I would grab this one. Co-ords were pretty spot on and the cache was found pretty quick. Cool little hide. TFTC and the puzzle #186
I enjoy this kind of puzzle so found it nice and easy to do. Had a day off today so thought a little trip clearing out completed puzzles was in order. Got to gz and quickly found item mentioned in hint but no tin where I anticipated. Changed tact and woo hoo not a mint tin but definitely a cache.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache.
This is the second time I have visited the GZ and this time armed with a bit more information not that it helped any. So after about 20 minutes of searching I phoned the CO and left a voicemail message and, of course, no sooner had I hung up when I put my hand on the cache. Doesn't it always happens that way.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Checked on the cache this evening. It is still in place but a bit harder to spot than when originally hidden. The hide had become overgrown with grass which we have partially cleared. Updated the hint to make finding a bit easier.
I must check my figures as it had me looking at a location where there weren't any trees.
I searched for this one twice while I was in Albany. I had my page of working with me so double checked that my solution fitted the clues. Something went wrong because I was unable to locate the cache. I was entertained by the car parking nearby my GZ though. Both times I visited there seemed to be no system to who parks where. Thanks anyway for the puzzle.
12581… A most appropriate and an awesome nicely themed Logic puzzle, many thanks Mark and Sherrie for hosting the puzzle solving sessions and for setting up this fun series of puzzle caches for the Mega. We greatly appreciate your efforts, well done.
Once again cracked a quite difficult puzzle. But I ended up helping my aunty with the last parts of the puzzle. For anyone I would say give it a go! It's heaps of fun!!!!!!!!!!
Was up in Auckland for the mega and popped out to collect some caches in the area. This cache was easy to find because of the huge number of cachers in the area. Thanks for another cache and getting me out and about. I had a great time at the mega and these caches added to the experience.
Miss Lillianz' hard work went into solving this little guy - I did do the finding though
This was our token puzzle cache in our 12 different cache types in one day mission. Thanks for helping us to complete our little challenge. I really must try and do some more puzzle caches - maybe it can be one of my goals for 2014

Reveurs and I had planned on doing as many cache types as we could in a day today, taking advantage of the Mega Event and related activities. We left the Mega Event venue in Albany on Sunday night and drove down to Tauranga to start with the Webcam cache after Midnight. We then got the nearby Traditional cache then headed back up to Waihi for a virtual and earth cache at Martha's Mine.
Then got about 1 and a half hours sleep in Karangahake Gorge, then on to Auckland Domain where we did a wherigo and a flashmob event. Then one to a multi on the North Shore and then this one before heading to the CITO event, after which we just had the letterbox hybrid and along with the Mega Event we got 11 cache types in a day. We finished and were home for a sleep at about 1pm. A fun but tiring trip.
We had completed the puzzle the previous day at the puzzle seminar. It was fun to do. Thanks for the caches and the seminars, they were very useful.

Funny story....having a puzzle solving day today and this was in the "half done, never finished" pile. Only 1 tick away from solving it...and then looking on google to see where the cache was, the "oh we found this one at the mega" suddenly came out of my mouth. Oh ooops, only 3 years late with the log, lol. Happy to go and sign again if you prefer, thanks for the puzzle kiwicouple

Once in hand at the puzzle solving session I quickly had this one in hand - think I was First to Solve Must have been a good day as I often need a second go when something goes wrong.
Headed out for the find. Another group had also found a logial place for this and based on the hint we had a likely GZ, BUT there as a muggle less than a meter away ... or was it? Before long she wandered off, phone in hand. We widened the the search area, still puzzld by the hint. Was soon joined by a third group who had it n their hands in seconds. But what is this? Along comes the "muggle" and signs the log! With a cheeky grin she agreed that she'd enjoyed that!

Our team and team Busther was visiting New Zeeland and the Auckland MEGA event during the weekend. When we saw this caches being published we decided to try to solve and then find them.
We started a teamwoork and managed to solved two of them. For the third one we get some hint from the cache-owner. We feel ashamed not to managed it by ourselfs.
Thanks for some nice mysteries. We give this one a fp as it is something we really like.

Found with Chosen1978 on Mega Tripand lots of other cachers who all helped find this cache.
This is a type of puzzle that Mrs Busther and Mrs Geparderna find very entertaining. Solved over lunch during the Mega event. A quick find.
Found while doing a few caches around Albany for the MEGA weekend.
Had some help with this one so was an easy find

Popped by for a quick find this afternoon. The puzzle solvers must have gone to the other ones first as the log-book was blank. Cheers for the puzzle cache!
out with Indyjones_ & evofreak? completing the lab caches, and thought we'd find a few of the new caches while in the area, and "mega" surprise, bumped into a few other cachers nearby. Clever little hide. TFTC.
Just as well it was covered in the puzzle solving seminar as most of these sorts of puzzles get me and I put them down and never pick up again. With a bit of a nudge and help from you two, all was solved and RuruNZ and I soon had the chance to go find. Thanks also for a Group FTF on these puzzles done at the seminar.
NZ MEGA day two. Attended the workshop. Thanks Kiwicouple presentation. It was very worthwhile. A wee light went off while solving this logic problem to help me realise that I'd been making harder work of them than I need to. Couldn't wait to get back home and make another attempt at a SoBad logic cache. Unfortunately it only got me past first base. Came out after the workshop and was among a dozen searchers. None of us could find it. Came back several hours later to bump into Fuzzynz to find that the coordinates were quite a way out and that the hint had been changed from the one given at HQ.
A quick find on this second attempt.

Must admit I missed the puzzle section but joined up with MuzzaL53, Marchwood, LostCourse, Vamber and alpenmilch80 through out the day and this was one of team effort caches, never very good at puzzle caches
thanks for the placement all part of a great Mega experance

Luckily Signal was around the place when we went to find this one, because we stuffed up one number, but signal helped us out
I always enjoy this type of logic puzzle nice puzzle. The hint doesn't seem to match the placement though great camo anyway. TFTC
I love logic puzzles so this was one for me while Mr Fuzzy solved the maths puzzle. A quick find at GZ when it was handed to us by another cacher ! TFTC
Really enjoyed the puzzle workshop, especially this puzzle as it was one I already knew how to solve so I didn't feel as dense as I usually do with puzzle caches! Co-ords were spot on but the hint and description didn't match up. I was a little confused at first but looked around at GZ and found the cache. TFTC and thanks for the workshop - I'm going to get out puzzling now
