New Zealand 2024 Day 2 : AlbanyDropped by here after a long trip from the South side of Auckland for a round of caching. The weather looks less punishing today, so heres hoping for a productive day out and about into Cache City. This is the specific log for this cache: This was solved back during the pandemic days (ah, those were the days - not fond memories, but I got reeeeaaalllyyyyy bored so) and I can finally drop by to claim the cache here. I bashed a little bit more than I needed here and found the cache eventually. Thanks for the ? and cache!
**21,917**Another quick find here, whilst we wander around the area. Nice to finally have the chance to collect these puzzle caches. TFTPC
Solved this one a while ago (good fun, thanks for the puzzle), but didn't have high hopes for the find, given the date of the last successful log. Thankfully, it was a nice easy find at GZ today, rounding out a successful lunch break of caching in Albany. TFTC!
Not sure if it’s still there. The location we found doesn’t have a tree nor stake. It looks like a tree has been removed.
So stoked I found the cache. I am new to geocaching and this was my first math challenge, which was good fun to solve.
Log is nearly full.

Only discovered this puzzle recently and about a month ago while I was in school and had nothing to do, my muggle friend and I started working through this puzzle which was actually a whole lot of fun in the end Would've been so cool if we did this in maths class but I think it was solved in physics (Oh well, physics still uses a lot of maths ) However, I never actually took note of the coordinates as the bell rang just as we solved it and I shut down my computer straight away.
So out and about in Albany this evening and I really wanted to try my luck at finding this one. Fortunately I have a really good memory and even after a month, I still knew the rough location of the cache. Walked down the path in the pitch black of the night and started searching about 15m away at first, looking for any wooden stake I could find. Time was ticking and after a solid 10 minutes of searching, I was out of luck but I decided to try one more plausible location and finally - the wooden stake was visible and I raced in to place my hands on the cache Signed myself in, but wow - that was incredibly tricky as I had to hold my phone torch from my mouth, so I could read what I was writing. TFTC and P kiwicouple!

DNF avenged!!
Puzzle was solved earlier this year but I had no luck with the find a few months ago. During lockdown I solved the other two Albany Mega puzzles and had another look at this one... which was when I noticed the coordinate modification on the cache page. Solved the puzzle again just to check, and yep--I hadn't applied it to my solution first time around. Back in the area today and arrived at a much more likely GZ, spotted the hint item on approach and then the cache with its pristine log still going strong since 2013. Happy to get the smiley here TFTP and C again!

No problems with solving the puzzle but my phone GPS was jumping around a bit at GZ and it was also raining, so I didn't search for too long. Will come back when I have more time and the weather improves. Thanks for the puzzle though!
Solved this quite some time ago, but after reading the log which said there was somebody sleeping near GZ, I never felt like looking for it by myself. Tonight brought Daddypig123 just in case but there was nobody about.
Didn't take long to find using the hint. I love the camo, but when I saw it I really wasn't sure if I wanted to touch it.

Another solved puzzle that we were keen to sign off today. First we parked at the Covid testing site - my first experience of seeing one of those other than on the TV. Then as the others have said a man sleeping very close. After we searched a few options the stake was spotted - although it was now as horizontal as our sleeping muggle and the cache was found very shortly after. Then we were out of there as quick as we could. TFTC # 16,136
Yeah, the sleeping man nearby gave me an awful start. He opened his eyes to check there was no threat of danger, then either went back to sleep or played dead. We all felt that had he really needed to sleep in the park he could have found a much more secluded place.
Given all that I don't remember much about the cache - - - except that we found it. Thanks for the puzzle and the hide .

One of the INSS had solved the 3 Mega puzzles near here so we targetted them on our last morning. The comment was made that we had been close on a previous day - but that meant we knew the icecreams in the mall were worth the sidestep as well. The main problem here was trying to look quietly as there was someone asleep near here - but luckily not at GZ.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Enjoyed doing this cache with inss. Noticed someone asleep. Thankfully he never woke up.
Signed the cache as inss

This one has been on our solved puzzle list for far too long, but never had a chance to collect it. Today, while doing a little retail therapy at the Albany mall (along with LOTS of other muggles enjoying the freedom now Auckland has moved back to level one COVID-19) we took the opportunity to find this one. Once at gz we had a glance of possible spots, and zoomed on one that looked like it matched the hint. Pleased to say we found the cache in the first place we looked. TFTP!
Last of the day and I'd scoped out this hide during last lockdown without touching or signing. A quick revisit today and all was good. Nice puzzle and find, T F T C kiwicouple. Just the one more in the Mega series to get (please)
A slightly early finish at work today and my eye was on a trip out Albany way and a small loop walk to swoop up a few available options. 14 attempted and a dirty dozen finds was a good yield for a dreary Wednesday afternoon sports choice. Home for a great meal and a glass of homemade plum wine, life is good.

Solved this puzzle years ago but after two visits, still logged as a DNF. I was in the area this morning so stopped for a "third time lucky" search ... and spied it straight away!! Oh well, it happens sometimes eh? Nice to finally smilie this one up. TFTC
Find number 5673. Spending the day caching with supernannny clearing some puzzle caches we had the final coordinates for. Being an Aucklander she did the driving and I gave directions. A little walk to GZ where the cache was quickly found. Thankfully the maths proved correct. Thank you for the placement.
Solved this 6 years ago at the nearby Mega Event.
I was a real newbie then!
I definitely needed to up my solving skills( and still do ).
So I attended the workshop.
Don't know why it took me this long to come and pick it up!
All good here...

#566. OK after realising my mistake after my Did Not Find log ereyesterday (x means multiply not divide!!!!) I headed back to the new GZ with a pretty good idea of where it was going to be, given that I was just there two days ago.
But who should I see as I walked around the corner... but the same woman sunbathing in the same grassy patch! This time though, she beat me there, she didn't muggle me, so I headed down to a nearby eatery to get some food and then half an hour later walked back past.
Hooray, she's gone this time! So I started to search again. Unfortunately, what I found again was a heap more wasps. Grrr... evil, evil creatures. I treaded very carefully, read every past log, and found the hint item, and sure enough there it was, I didn't have to search for too long.
The method for solving this one is similar to my hidden cache [Geocaching 430: Advanced Computing (GC5AFKE)](http://coord.info/GC5AFKE) (am I allowed to plug my own cache here? Sorry if not!) so the solve didn't take me long at all.
Another frown turned upside down. My ring of yellow smileys around Albany is getting bigger and bigger every day.
Thanks very much for the puzzle and the cache! I must try and get to a MEGA event one day.

Oh no, two DNFs in a row... I might have to go and recheck my figures as I couldn't find any of the hint object anywhere... But what I did find was a lot of wasps, but also a lot of geotrails, so that makes me think I'm either in the right place or everyone is making the same mistake I am.
I looked for 15 minutes and then I got muggled by a woman sunbathing on the nearby grass so I had to abandon the search.
This isn't over......
EDIT (1 hr later) - I see I've made an error in the maths... Thought O was divide by 2 but it's actually multiply by 2! So that moves GZ a tad... will try again soon

As I had an appointment nearby today, I looked at the cache map last night to see what I might find hereabouts. I spotted this puzzle that I don't remember noticing before, so pulled out a pen and paper and set to work. Quick find at the GZ today, and I'm still in time for my haircut. Thanks!
This ones been sitting in the solved pile for far too long, 5 years in fact. Today we needed to be in Albany so we spent the afternoon clearing out a few solved puzzles and anything else that we came across. A very quick find once we reached GZ and the cache is still in great condition. TFTPC!
Solved this puzzle quite a while ago and had visited the area once before but after a good start to that day things started going wrong so abandoned the search for these caches.
This one was one of the ones I previously looked for during winter and with the weather deteriorating the GPS was trying to take me elsewhere. That said I searched right where I found the cache today without luck last time. Nice quick find today even though the GPS was still pointing me to the other side of the path. TFTC.

We're down in Auckland for the weekend to pick up my son from Uni. An easy find here and nice camo job, thanks
I solved the puzzle last night. I went to plot out the location, but ended up copying one wrong number and was about to go to a farmer's front yard. Fortunately, I found that mistake in time and went to the right place.
There was some sort of event happening today, so I had to park across the way and hike over. TFTC.

Solved this before the first sparrow's fart this morning before heading out caching. I had started by
trying toclear the fog from my brain before I came up with a reasonable set of coords. We then set off in the fog and eventually found hint items closer to the path than gps indicated. A well camoed cache eventually came to hand (after a long search) a meter or so away from hint description. A perfect goldilocks puzzle... not too hard but not too easy either. tftpc!

On a quick visit to Auckland today for shopping (her) and caching (me).... ) Solved this last night in preparation. A nice quick find in the puzzle location. Awesome camo though. I might have to try that myself... Signed log and replaced without being spotted by any muggles. TFTC
Solved this one with a few assumptions about the more significant figures. Went to GZ, couldn't find what I was after (thinking that all the tree knocked down there had something to do with it). Went away and did a couple of other caches. Then I realised I hadn't added on the bits at the end. I did so, and went back to the sightly revised GZ and found the container easily enough. TFTC.
Solved over a cuppa. Nicely constructed puzzle that was solved in layers. Now back to the job list at home!!
Solved this puzzle some time ago but only managed to get to this part of town today. Found the GZ OK (and confimed by the clue), unfortunately, your camo skills proved too much for me today. I will be back
WOO HOO!! I finally solved this one. I'd looked at it ages ago, made a start then picked it up again today. I was oh so close. Asked my year 13 son to have a quick look and he spotted a hint I'd missed. I just love the feeling of a hard earned puzzle solve. I'm not sure when I'll be down to collect the actual cache. Thanks for a fun puzzle
Puzzle didn't wrack the brain too much. Hide also wasn't too hard. I liked the camo. TFTC
I surprised myself with how quickly I did the math on this one, I wish the find was as quick and simple. It took way longer than it should have as I missed seeing the last bit of calculation so spent far too long searching on the other side. I discovered my error and corrected my co-ords but then struggled to find the hint item even though I was standing right next to it! Duh! Once I opened my eyes properly, my first look failed to uncover the nicely camo'd cache from all the leaf matter so I extended my search and found another hint item.... hmmm, is it there, a thorough search later, I was still empty handed so I went back to where I started and put my hand on the container within seconds of starting my search again. I don't quite know how I missed it the first time round, but I was very grateful to find it as I was ready to give up!
I don't do many puzzle caches and lately have been rectifying that matter. This puzzle looked daunting when I started it but it didn't take long to solve it! I was really stoked! I checked the results with the C.O's and they reassured me I was spot on. So thanks kiwcouple, I'll have a crack now at the Mega logic etc. Cache all fine here today.
Solved puzzle ages ago. Finally got around to retrieving. Needed the use of the hint. All nice, clean and dry. TFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We have finally reached the last act of our current license challenge... We need to find four more high difficulty caches to complete Endorsement HD. After five months, this is becoming a burden... We have lots of alternatives should plan A, B, C, and D fail...
We attended the 2013 Auckland Mega... We were still very green then, and the thought of solving puzzles seemed too challenging, so we didn't try... Nor did we attempt to learn about puzzle solving by attending the Mega classes that could have been helpful... Fast forward, and we are now far more confident with experience under our belts.
We really liked the mathematical layers to this puzzle. It took us a little longer to work through, and satisfaction came when we felt we'd cracked it... I vaguely remember walking through the area of ground zone... It took us a couple of minutes to arrive today, and a couple more to sort out the awesome camouflage. TFTP and TFTC.

#10804. We stopped to have another go at this, and this time we made the find. Phew.
Today we are leaving Auckland after spending 3 weeks exploring and caching around the city and we are heading northwards, destination: Algies Bay.
As our route took us through Albany, I wanted to have another go at this cache after our earlier DNF. I had updated GSAK with the adjusted co-ords, or I thought I had but once I got to GZ, the GPSr took me to the same location. Did the adjustment then and there, and searched the new location. Spotted the hint object, but was unable to turn up the cache, so expanded my search area and soon found it. Then I found another hint object right by it . Nice hide.
Good to turn a into a . Thanks for the puzzle, which took less time to solve than the actual search! TFTC.

Bugger, didn't spot the adjustment to the co-ordinates so we were looking on the other side of the path. Hopefully we will be back in the area for another go as I hate not finding solved puzzles.
Had fun working this out the other night, and found time this evening to go and grab it.
Nice Camo, overlooked it the first time past.

Won tickets to the FIFA Under 20s World Cup on Thursday, so on Friday I attempted to solve some of the puzzles near the stadium. This was fun to logic away at, but the match went to extra time cutting down my caching time after the game so this was the only one I had time to attempt. It was dark, cold and wet but I gave it a quick go. Couldn't find the clue item so tried a few possibilities, but nothing for me today. I'll come back in the daylight sometime for another go.
My first mystery cache
As a newbie to geocaching I think it may be become addictive!
Worked out the puzzle last night as we were going shopping in the area. Took about 15 mins searching the area. I can confirm that the object mentioned in the hint is still there.
Love the camo.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 29: [red]Dargaville[/red] to [blue]Auckland[/blue]
On our way to this mega city we were looking for some interesting caches in the suburbs
This interesting unknown cache was one of them
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

Attempted to find this one today for the third time. I can't find this cache or the object mentioned in the hint where my coords are leading me to. I know the cache is there I just can't find it!
Having solved this puzzle many months ago and finding myself alone in the car on a relatively quiet Sunday I thought I would give finding the cache container a go while I was travelling back home and sort of coming past (on the motorway). Missed the hint item on the first pass although found another that it could have been not far away. Always easy once you know where it is though isn't it? Thanks for the challenge kiwicouple, a puzzle I was able to work out! Cool container too.
Never did get around to this one at the MEGA. Still this left a 'fairly close to home' for us to do as a night cache for the geolicence challenge.
Joined up with Darby&Joan for a fun night out. Thank you to all who were involve with placing this cache.

We are up to a challenge where we have to find so many caches at night. So a plan was hatched with Helefant to join forces and see if we could make this fun. What a night we had, armed with torches, enthusiasm and lots of laughter. Enjoyed solving the puzzle and was even more pleased when the co-ords put us in the right area. SL. TFTC.
Out and about the Mini Future Finder this afternoon for a spot of caching. No problem with the solve on this one. Nice quick find of the final. Glad to complete the formalities on this one. Cheers for the puzzle cache!
Out in the area with Teotocchi today and this was one that I'd solved a while back and finally had a chance to go for today. Took a little bit of searching at GZ to find the cache but that was due to eyesight more than anything else.
Nice little puzzle, and a nice quiet spot. TFTC

Didn't solve this during the Mega but instead over Christmas on a family trip to Whitianga. Tried to solve it on screen but once it was printed it was much easier. Eventually got around to grabbing this one, didn't take the easiest route to it, in fact we must have taken the hardest, but it was a pretty easy find in the end. Thanks kiwicouple
My grand-daughter loved the camo on this cache. Another good one, Glyn or was it kiwicouple. Nice puzzle, kiwicouple.

Did a lap of the stadium before heading out to the airport tonight and managed to finally log a few mega related caches. Thanks for the puzzle kiwicouple.
I never was any good at maths so this one took quite a while to actually solve. However I eventually managed to solve it and the following day go out and find it. It was found nicely tucked away and well camoed tftc.
12579… Couldn’t believe the number of cars we could count with the Mega Flags flying, awesome sight, many thanks for setting up the Maths puzzle.
Was up in Auckland for the mega and popped out to collect some caches in the area. This cache was easy to find because of the huge number of cachers in the area. Thanks for another cache and getting me out and about. I had a great time at the mega and these caches added to the experience.
Miss Lillianz' hard work went into solving this little guy - I did do the finding though
This was our token puzzle cache in our 12 different cache types in one day mission. Thanks for helping us to complete our little challenge. I really must try and do some more puzzle caches - maybe it can be one of my goals for 2014

Completed this puzzle with nufrat also during the puzzle solving tutorial, and headed out en mass to find.
we did find however that the co ords were out, but due to being such a large group we managed to eventually find the cache.

RuruNZ had already worked this out but for some reason didn't have on phone. I had what I had worked out so we worked it out again while having a cuppa at another cache site area where we were earlier in the week on way out to Route 66. Yahoo now know how to go about working out this type of puzzle as well thanks for session at Mega.
So quiet that where RuruNZ and I initially looked you could see the elephant trail and we also had a young couple that we interrupted while sorting out the location of this cache as well. If we read things correctly we wouldn't have needed to disturb them. Think we made them feel uncomfortable with our presence. Found where it should be, signed, replaced and heading towards the BBQ event.

Found with kiwicampnut on Day 7 of our trip north for Mega.
But what a mission.
Solved at the Practical Puzzle Solving session on Sunday - thanks to Team Welsh who pointed out an overlooked but vital sentence.
However, when we headed for Mega Logic, I didn't have it on my ohne, so put the coords for that in for Mega Maths instead. All good BUT then forgot to put the correct co-ords in for the final. Grr. Working back at the accommodation, so sat down and re-worked it ... wrong! Ended up heading north on the motorway. topped at Petrol, burgers and Souveniers *Northbound for some sustenance and a re-work of the maths.
Finally got it at a more sensible looking place - but there were a couple of muggles in a nearby clearing. Following elephant tracks did no good, so I stopped to refresh the logs (joys of phone caching) and saw the co-ors were initially wrong and the hint had been updated. Widened search - fortunately out of sight of muggles and kiwicampnut soon had it in hand.
Thanks
But what a mission.
Solved at the Practical Puzzle Solving session on Sunday - thanks to Team Welsh who pointed out an overlooked but vital sentence.
However, when we headed for Mega Logic, I didn't have it on my ohne, so put the coords for that in for Mega Maths instead. All good BUT then forgot to put the correct co-ords in for the final. Grr. Did not attend the second puzzle solving seminar but saw these on the Monday and quickly worked out the numbers so Chelzea and I could give them a go. A bit of a hunt in the dark but found in the end. Thanks KC for the caches.
Puzzle, tick.... Another one off the list for today, as we hunt for 12 cache types in a day. We arrived at GZ at the same time as another cacher, who didn't look happy we were there. TFTC.
We solved this at Kiwicouple's training session yesterday; found the cache today before heading out to the CITO Event Cool camo, and a great puzzle too. Thank you .
Had to come back as got bamboozled on first search. Bumped into some mega attendees here

Sincere apologies for the very late log. Found on my NZ MEGA (Auckland 2013) trip with mtbikeroz, my Dad. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time travelling around Auckland and the North Island, going on some great walks and adventures and finding some great caches. Apologies again - if you have any queries or questions, please contact mtbikeroz direct via his profile. (all our finds are on the same date) Thanks.
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Solved during the puzzle solving session at the Mega event and found while wandering around doing the rogaine afterwards - part of the group FTF! A clever cache hide, thanks for the cache and your puzzle solving sessions on both days!

Quickly found at GZ with Tan1aNZ, Just-lookin & Princess Emily, between dinner and the final farewells/closing of the Mega. Just Lookin had done the calcs on the day, but i wasn't going to log until i had solved the appropriate coordinates too!
TFTC Kiwicouple, and the helpful "Puzzle-solving" seminar.

Tagged along with Just-Lookin to find this one. Awesome water balloons inside. TFTC
Reperio at 1415 with Sol de lune and Albida33.
Found on Day 6 of my visit to the North Island as a part of the NZ Mega event...and I met up with Albida33 and Sol de lune for a day of caching before heading back to the NZ Mega event for the closing festivities. Between the three of us, we had seen plenty of these types of puzzles before...so we butted heads together and soon had this one worked out.
Gratias kiwicouple.

New Zealand 2103 trip for the Auckland Mega at Albany. Day 17, In Auckland Region, Northshore. NZ Mega Auckland Day 2. Caching with Sol de Lune and Marcus Vitruvius followed by the evening activities at Mega Central. After returning to the Mega site we looked at the new puzzles and decided we could get a result for two of them, so off we went again to collect these. Happily it was where we calculated and another one was done. Thanks.

quick solve and then off to GZ. Unfortunately we were not success on our first look but I ran into Glyn and he gave me an extra nudge and a GZ 10m over. t4tc
After attending the puzzle solving workshop this morning we headed out to see if we got it right, success!
Attended the MEGA event, attended this mini-solving event in the hall for a few minutes. Worked out very quickly (for me it was year 7 or 8 I did this sort of thing - or was it earlier???). But anyway, easy enough. Then completely forgot about it as I went caching all over the place. Later, when with friends back in the hall, we went off to find a puzzle, and signed the log; I recorded the GC number at the time but thought no more of it. Only now, when back home, do I realise they are one and the same! Obviously so busy having fun it was all one big blur to me - at the time - but my memory now is good! So, thanks for the cache(s) !
NZ MEGA day two. Enjoyed the workshop very much, thank you Kiwicouple. This one was within my abilities. Headed out after the workshop to be handed the log at GZ

After finishing the puzzle at the puzzle seminar (which was really interesting and useful), me and Reveurs, Anastriel, and Small Pooka went out and looked for this one. Others were already looking and more cachers joined us, but to no avail. We gave up and went looking for other caches. We were told later that the co-ordinates were quite a bit out so we headed back to have another look. This time it was just us and we had a better idea of where to look and with a bit of searching we found it. It was neat camo too. TFTC and thanks for the seminar and puzzle solving session.
Our team and team Busther was visiting New Zeeland and the Auckland MEGA event during the weekend. When we saw this caches being published we decided to try to solve and then find them.
We started a teamwoork and managed to solved two of them. For the third one we get some hint from the cache-owner. We feel ashamed not to managed it by ourselfs.
Thanks for some nice mysteries.

Understood directly what to do but it still took a while to solve it. At location it was an easy find together with Geparderna.
Arrived just in time to get help with mod coord.
Great camo. Joint FTF. TFTC and Training.

Another one solved with Albida and Marcus, however at GZ there were one or two others hanging around as well.....but hey, this is a Mega.
Thanks again kiwicouple....
Thanks again kiwicouple....
I wandered over to GZ not long after solving the puzzle with the help of the CO at the mega puzzle solving session but after 40 mins and the help of 40 other like minded individuals it was time to giv eit away.
A quick check of the logs gave me some more info and back I went to find the cache in the second spot I looked. Like other finders, about 17m away on the other side of the path up the hill from GZ.
tftc puzzle and cache kiwicouple.

Mr Fuzzy (aka Mega Maths Guy) solved this in seconds (not really ) while having a lazy start to the day. The final was another story although the cachers trail lead us on a merry dance for a while before cachers sense prevailed and we did a bit of logvestigation which suggested the co-ords may be out. With that in mind, the cache was soon in hand. Great camo! Thanks guys for another good hide.
Solved it with Geomatt then off we went but we forgot to read the red print doooh luckily someone else was searching at GZ, really god camo. TFTC
Found it with some help from the cache placer as the coordinates were a little off, joint ftf as part of the puzzle workshop at mega

Popped by for a quick find this afternoon. The puzzle solvers must have gone to the other ones first as the log-book was blank. Cheers for the puzzle cache!
Auckland Mega Event 2013. Sunday and a fantastic day of caching planned alongside KiwifruitsNZ with the objective of reaching my 1000th find during the weekend. This was find # 982 on that journey. Found in group and all agreed final about 15 to 20m out. Great camo.
Mega 2013 Sunday. Great day with other cachers. Cord around 17 m out but all good
