Signed the replacement cache when out with Busypaws and Coconuts3 yesterday. We thoroughly searched the area before making the joint decision to replace the cache. It is years since I had been in this area. When I was in the tramping club we occasionally did the walk to Mt Herbert from here
Out today with busy paws and lytteltonwitch to get some caches and have a 4X4 adventure for a multi. The four of us pent some time searching and put in a replacement. This was approved by the CO so now logging. Thanks for bring us here and the cache Team Gaters.
Coconuts3 and LW and I spent about 20 mins looking at ALL possibilities for this apparent park and grab! There is evidence of recent work around the entranceway area, plus a pretty new stile with rocks at the bottom of one of the supporting poles. There are a couple of tossed aside gates around GZ, so we didn't really know where to start, so did a pretty good sweep of the area and found nothing. We decided to put a placement in situ and that's under rocks. CO has been contacted and has not objected to the arrangement. So TFTC !

Well that one got me, hunted around all the likely spots but no luck. Oh well, next time. Cheers
We found this cache during our holidays.

Iris was in Wellington and I had wanted to do some Summit Road and Diamond Harbour. geocaches for some time. Set off at 9am. Found 14. DNF 2. Drove 90km and walked about 4km. This was cache find number thirteen. It took very little time before spotting the container. Iris and I found the Monument cache many many years ago, it involved a close encounter with cows and calves!!! Thanks for the cache and the (very little) exercise. Rodney
On my way back from Mt Herbert I thought... haven’t done GeoCaching in a decade or so.
Downloaded the app and logged this little one.
Guess it’s my first Kiwi Cache. Sweet. TFTC bro.

A beautiful autumn day was forecast so we decided to tackle the walk up to Mount Herbert. This was the first cache of the day. It was a quick find. TFTC.
Halfway to Herbert (Canterbury) was transferred from MadCat9 to user Team_Gaters
TFTC. A quick trip to the Banks Pen for a few caches.
I decided to head around the peninsula from Diamond Harbour.
It was a blustery spring day, but never too blustery to be cache hunting and log signing.
Thank you MadCat9 for placing the cache.

Today we made a trip over the Peninsula, beginning in Littleton, then Governors Bay, Diamond Harbour, Port Levy, Pigeon Bay, Okains Bay, Robinson Bay, Arakoa, and then back to Christchurch in order to see that many sightseeing points along the road. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches, too. The weather was beautiful, sunny, very warm, a little bit cloudy, and only sometimes there was some wind.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had to drive their cars on the not too easy roads on the Peninsula.
Thanks to MadCat9 for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Halfway to Herbert (Canterbury). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Stopped there to take some photos. Walk to Mt. Herbert sounds tempting but decided to come later on some warmer Summer day. TFTC.
A quick park and grab on our way back to Christchurch. It was a bit late, so next time we will be up the hill. TFTC
On a trip round Port Levy. The real highlight was discovering the pouwhenua at the base of Kakanui Reserve just above the wharf at Port Levy and learning about the work of Te Rūnanga o Koukourārata. It's very impressive.
Enjoyed stopping and finding this which was quite straightforward once my phone settled down. Many thanks.

Compulsory stop and find on our trip the back way home from Pigeon Bay. Beautiful day to be exploring our back yard. TFTC
Taking the scenic route from Christchurch to Akaroa and stopping for a few caches on the way.
My GPS wanted me in the centre of the road. Used my caching sense and looked in the obvious place to start a walk from. Success.

Today we had a great trip across the peninsula of Akaroa. Start/finish was Diamond Harbour, great mountain tracks, stopping again and again because of caches, photo motives, picnics or simply so. Beer in the Harbar, Akaroa Harbour, Feijoas in 4 Square, Blue Mailbox. Super bathing beach in Le Bons Bay, fantastic sunset.
In addition, our southernmost cache and the most distant cache on this tour are targeted.

#15125. Found on our way home from a loop through Little River and Port Levy. Found a small parking bay which I thought about using, but continued a little further and then found the main parking area. Quick find in the obvious spot. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker after a walk to find the last CANZ cache needed to calculate the SI semi final co-ords.
Hmmm, 1 and a half hours from here to Mt Herbert? I think it would take me a lot longer - looks a long way away! Cache was found in the obvious spot, second MadCat cache found today - happy new year. TFTC.

Caching day with the whanau, dragging the boys along also as we do not get many opportunities nowadays to cache as a team. The ambivalent morning turned into a nice mostly sunny day, and we managed to get to a few! TFTC!!

Yay!! A scheduled geocaching day off motherhood for me, a day of daddy bonding for hubby (Though baby is always so well behaved for him that it's totally not fair!!! ), and so mum & I were off to go find as much as time would allow!! (But mum thought it was a good idea to bring the boys also!! So it ended up being as much as time & the boys would allow before they started complaining too much about the fact that we were caching... ended up with 38 though if my calculations are right - and quite a few high T - so not too bad.
We signed all the logs as Team Polak for simplicity sake, and time sake, and save the trees sake. (Though neither of the two of us who will actually log these are Polaks anymore anway!
Detoured back via this way - nice & easy one in the wind

Found with TregearP and OldTom on a day trip to Akaroa and back via the less travelled route. A beautiful day to be out on the peninsular.
A quick find and all in good order. TNLNSL, TFTC.

With Toby on board but not talking to Zara yet - we head to Banks Peninsula to explore. Its Sunday, so lets go exploring, we park Zara up and we are off in Toby, with the Seagnoid as navigator/ stop-go man.
Lots of red rocks here. TFTC cheers

Going to Ashburton with TaybeeDragon to pick up a car and spent the long weekend exploring, one box at a time. And now that we have collected Toby let's try him out on the back roads around Akaroa.
Removed the desiccant from the cache - it had done its thing long ago (keeping the contents dry till the first person found it) and no one carries a portable oven to recharge these things. There was a dog chained to the gate here, but no one else and no car around. I hope he's going to be all right. Dropped in an emerald.

I came to this one after a successful evening FTF run up the track. GeoYoungling #3 made the find at his feet. All in good shape, though the inside was wet.

Found it 05/08/2016 on a hunt with my dad and uncle who had just been introduced to the Geocaching concept! . Dad and I are locals so it's nice to see a few caches in these 'outback' areas. Deposited 1 pound which was left over from my previous geocaching missions (while overseas). Nothing to take.
Forgot to bring pen so couldn't sign log - nice quick find on way to monument hut. Tftc

The monument makes a remarkable feature on the skyline. Interesting to see all the red volcanic rock all round here. TFTC #7412
Walk out from the top of the hill to GZ. An easy find Thank You. All in good order.
On the way to Lyttleton we stoped here. It is amazing how the landscape chances at this point. Fast found. Thanks
Found this one after two nights at Port Levy *dream* and on our way to Christchurch. TFTC
Mallorcatommy and I were on our journey through the southern island of New Zealand. With the help of geocaches we came to so many beautiful places, saw breath-taking landscapes and had, all in all a very wonderful journey! Thank you to all owners for placing all those nice geocaches!
We are on the road again!
Today we found some very nice geocaches and enjoyed it to walk along every single trail.
Thanks to to all the owner for hiding the caches!

The last cache of the day and as it ended up the last cache in New Zealand for us. We were on the way home from Pigeon Bay and made this quick find. TFTC MadCat9.
The plan was to do some high level caches but with cold and rain happening, time for plan B and a lap of Mt Herbert by car. A really nice drive. Thanks for the hide.
Can't say i have been up Mount Herbert must put that i my to do list. Got stopped by a couple of tourists from Hong Kong asking where the nearest fuel station was and how to get to little river, and we thought they were geocaching...haha
What a crazy night this turned out to be!
Picked up TW in the early evening (without torch or GPS) to have a quiet beer after his rather hectic few days. I'd just been to the bathroom and TW proclaimed a couple FTF's were in the offing - one in Rolleston (Squeeze Me) and one in Diamond Harbour (Green Point). Was I keen?!....was I keen? silly question! HAH.
We predicted if L4TB was active then the one in Rolleston would be a tight chase....so instead we choose to head out to Diamond Harbour. Stopped off at TWs house to grab his phone charger and GPS.....and then moved out. Encountered rain & cloud over Dyers pass...but then it turned lovely the further out we got. Made the FTF - since we were 'here', and since this one was 'so close' we decided to carry on up the pass and make the find. A lovely evening over here. GZ was fantastic in the last rays of the setting sun - clouds pouring over the top of Mount Herbert. Nice one!
Cheers.

TG had grabbed me for a cold tasty beverage down at the local, to de-gas over the action over the last few days with the arrival of cachelet #3. TG ducked out for a second and I checked my phone and noticed two caches had been published. Hmm, decisions. One was Rolleston way and this one was 'just across the harbour'. There was no resistance from TG as I offer of a FTF was presented. We thought it'd be a race to the Rolly one with L4TB, Sevren, Muntr, SP1 in contention. So we opted for the one in Diamond Harbour. This was sooo 'close' we headed up to grab it. One the way up I spotted a Possum standing on it's hind legs on a road barrier! We parked at the saddle and stopped to admire the cascading clouds over Mt Herbert, it was stunning with the last of the days sun in the background. Quick find and we were off.
What a crazy night. Out for a frosty beverage with not gear and ended up with two FTFs and a mad dash from Peninsula to the Plains!!!
Thanks for the cache.

After returning from a mornings caching on the Mt Herbert summit it would have been rude not to have signed this cache off as well. Lovely morning, blue skies, no wind, great views.
This one turned into a bit of a saga. We found this cache easily enough as we set off to climb Mt Herbert. However the combination of a 30 deg day and being up to 10pm caching the night before proved too much for little O, and we had to abort the climb after an hour or so. Still got high enough for great views over the harbour, port hills and all the way up the coast. I really look forward to completing the walk some other time as the views from the top must be amazing. When we returned to the car I made the mistake of turning on the air con without starting the engine. After only a couple of minutes we had a flat battery. O and K helped push the car and we soon had it rolling down the hill and I got it crash started.
Before we left I dropped a TB ne cache. TFTC!

A nice easy find at the end of a day trip to Mts Herbert and Bradley. I guess that makes it halfway from, instead of halfway to! Thanks for the cache.
