Had a good look but alas did not have any luck. Gave up when the mozzies tried to carry me away. Thanks anyway, all good.
First full day of my biennial trip to Townsville to visit my in laws for Christmas. An investigation of the map reveals there has certainly been some caching activity since I was here last about 18 months ago on my way through to Hinchinbrook Island.
First order of business this morning is some exercise to shake off the last remnants of stress from the 2018 working year and what better spot than Castle Hill to get the blood pumping.
Having conquered the hill via the West Ridge Track, it was time to collect a few more caches on the way home.
Always good to clean up a previous DNF. Last time I visited, some locals were holding a roaring party right near GZ in the shade. A quick find today, though the logbook is a sopping rusted mess. Unable to sign the log, so I have posted a photo. Really needs some maintenance.
Many thanks,Danzfox

I had to find a cache large enough to place a TB, this was my closest option after coming up empty handed an my first choice.
Felt *around* in the dark and had my hands on it in no time. Lid is missing, in need of some TLC - TFTC

JACS Team was planning a day to snavel up a few geocache that she hadn't hunted for yet and kindly let me tag along! It was an incredible fun-filled day considering I was suffering from cache-blindness and JACS had an injured foot! (feel well soon!). In the end, we enjoyed our time and are off to do it again tomorrow!
This was a speedy find before some workers came around the corner upon returning. We were out like a vroom, vroom! TFTC

Got snuck up here by some worker muggles, luckily we had just replaced the cache.

Fence looks new and very temporary. Maybe cache has been removed. Supercars in 2 weeks.
Bit of a trek across the wood chip mulch but a quick look and cache was found. A couple of small spiders have made the cache their home but were relocated TFTC
Found at 0950 A quick find. The lid was broken off but other than that everything was OK. TFTC.
Not a hope of getting near this today with the extra seperation fence.

Lovely stroll to this, much appreciated for the hide, signed book and replaced discreetly, tin getting old, need new zip lock bag, few termites in tin, as I live nearby will return to gz with new tin and bag this week if no one beats me to it!
Nice and quiet. We found the cache fairly quickly. Thank you for the hide Danzfox.
At the end of the day of racing and being an official, Mickey and Minnie had told me where to seek this one out. So I was able to wander over here to find the cache and sign the log. TFTC Danzfox
Found this one while we were up in Townsville for the V8 Supercar event. Being a trackside official allows me to get to some of these caches that around this time, aren't accessible due to construction.
Grabbed this little beauty in an expected spot. Cache is still in great condition. Log signed and grabbed the TB. Will move it on to another V8 Supercar track.
TFTC
Think this one deserves a favourite point.

9:59:00 AM. After a short walk from the station and a bit of a search we made the find and signed the log. All good. Hope to be back here in July. Thanks Danzfox for placing this cache.
Pretty quick find to complete todays mission, location accessible but more barricades appearing around here. Sl, tftc, danzfox.
quick stop over in town
thought I'd grab a couple of caches on the way out
no worries here
thought best to try and grab it today
there's going to be a lot more people around here next time I am in town

Checked cache. All is okay - log is in good condition and still in the designated spot. With the on coming wet season, to avoid a wet log, please replace the cache with the ARROW pointing UP.
On my A-E streak for the challenge I started my day with to caches in town before heading west for more caches today.
It was a fast find, and then home for breakfast before heading out again.
Thanks for the cache

Hi there Danzfox. We found your cache "ETHANOL" at 7:45:00 AM today.
This was our 1st cache find in a caching run of 2 Finds & 0 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9809.)
[Blue]
We are trying to log at least one cache every day, so we can add to our streak of "Most Consecutive Days Cached", which we started on New Years Day 2014. Our route today took us to some really wonderful & scenic locations.
This was a nice, quick Park-n-Grab today. [/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

We had to get a little creative in finding our way to this cache. We parked near the Civic Centre as people were preparing for a matinee performance of Hello Dolly. After a short walk we were at the GZ and we soon had the cche located. Thanks gain Danzfox for another fun hide.
This cache seems to have been disabled every time I came to TSV so I was pleased to find it was back online. Could drive right to GZ and my phone took me straight to the cache for a quick find. The coords must be good. Signed and replaced.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Have replaced the cache after the big race with a new log.
There is plenty of ground work in this area at this time with trucks, graders and bobcats operating close by so please be on the look out.
The cache is still an eclipse tin, and to prevent the log being soaked please secure the lid and replace the cache with the arrow pointing up - thank you

There is still some fencing around the area in the post clearing of the V8 races where the cache will be replaced.
I will return to Townsville after the 3rd August to maintain the cache.
I will return to Townsville after the 3rd August to maintain the cache.
The V8 race will finish on the 6th July and giving a few days for the dismantling of the fences etc., the replacement cache will be replaced.
Because of the upcoming V8 race in early July, (the cache is within) I wont replace the cache until it is completed and all is dismantled again
Log can't be signed because it is wet. Ants had made the tin their new home...
New coordinates brought us very close to the structure at the race track and we looked everywhere where we thought it could be according to the hint but we had no luck finding it even after a good 30min searching.
Coordinates changed from:
S 19° 16.242 E 146° 48.549
Coordinates changed to:
S 19° 16.234 E 146° 48.548
Distance from original: 48.9 feet or 14.9 meters.
Because of some variations in coordinates I am changing and testing the coordinates that MattCNS have mentioned in their log. Apparently, they were up to 14 metres out.

Our second attempt at this one since it was moved and this time we were successful. Coords were a bit better this time. In all fairness there was thick cloud cover last time (night of Cyclone Dylan's approach) we came for a look.

RobS72 and I also found ourselves in the middle of the car park. We searched the nearby structure and eventually found the cache quite some distance from GZ. TFTC.
Finally able to cross this one off the list! Took several minutes of searching before MattCNS came up with the find. We found the coordinates to be out by 10 to 14 metres, but that's possibly due to the heavy cloud cover above. TFTC Danzfox. SL. {#508}.
New coords had us in the middle of a car park behind the Civic Theatre. We had the same result using two different phones.
We thought we might as well have a go whilst we were there so followed the clue but sadly couldn't find the cache.

Was able to get near the cache location today and could not locate the old cache container. Seems it has been muggled completely. Will resurrect another and place it further away from the camp spot giving a more pleasant hunt. Give me a few days please.
I feel my problem was in the name of the cache and the locals took advantage of it.

Because of the the camping and drinking activity near this GZ I have temporarily disabled this cache until I can relocate it. When setting this cache up the activity was not evident to me. I apologise and do not want any geocachers coming to grips with possible angry muggles.
Got to within 40m of this cache but the GZ was inhabited, literally, by locals. For obvious reasons we weren't going to go poking around so had to leave this one for now.
Will come back another day.
Will come back another day.
I wandered over here after collecting "A Fast One", hoping for a nice easy find. About 30 metres out, a rather derogatory call was shouted by some locals camped on the hill nearby. I paused and noticed another group about 10 metres from GZ.
Not going to happen today! Best to turn and walk away.
Not going to happen today! Best to turn and walk away.
Came back to this one today. Still think it's not the best placement , only 1.5m away one of the regular occupants of this area had stashed their "Ethanol" (cans of Vodka, quite expensive booze actually for the type of clientele hanging out here - no judgement!).and they are watching you from the grassy hill on the other side of the track where they are camped out during the day, near the bushes.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of them gets curious on checks why there are people coming every now and then to look at the fence.

Second attempt at finding this cache. Again thwarted by the locals camped in the area. Will try again another time.
# 944 After a FTF, we realised that the magic 1000 was getting very close when counting GCA caches.
Last time I was here, locals had set up camp. Today, we had the whole place to ourself.

Took us a little while but we got there in the end. We were probably a little lucky to find this one unmolested as the Carols are nearby tonight but there was not one around when we searched! As we were leaving a few cars started to turn up, most likely the first of the workers arriving.

Cut my search short, as some of the usual occupants of this area came back from the river. Felt similar as Champs, very uncomfortable, which wasn't helped by the fact that I am unfortunately quite familiar with this area .
We come here at least 3-4 nights a week for work, usually in company of the boys in blue for protection.
I strongly recommend not to search for the cache at night, as the individuals usually camped here do not take kindly to having their "Ethanol testing" interrupted by anyone

Turned up to find no-one at the cache site ....my GPS did not want to play the game so put it away and just searched, ICP then turned up with jiwilly not to far behind...as a team we put our heads together and did a very thorough search of the area, a relieved 'Found it' was called followed by 'who has a pen?? ICP had a nice little cache in hand and log was quickly signed by all three of us as a combined FTF...

Was on the hunt for my FTF and I even looked where it was with no find then icp asks who has a pen and it was a joint FTF. It will be JIWILLY'S day one day for a FTF. Great to meet some new cachers out for the hunt too
