Heading north for a few days RnR. We did not realise at first that this cache has not been found since 2017. GPS wanted us to head into a fenced off area which is under construction. Followed hint and jumped a couple of smaller fences to check out a two small Kahikatea growing behind flaxes. The weeds had been trampled down so someone else has been here recently. No luck locating the cache.
Another place in Whangarei I've never visited before.
A hot walk in the sun across the field to make sure I found at least one today to keep up the 2017 continuous streak.

Sloshed our way over the ground to get to this one. Nice quick find once at GZ and back to the car before the rain. TFTC
We went up to Whangarei for the day with our 3 girls (very rare that happens these days with them living all over the place) to see the newest member of the family, when, coming into Whangarei, one of our daughters hailed us with "the dog's just been sick... over me!" So we came to a stop at this park as it was the closest off the road parking available. GAR let out the dogs and returned a phone call to work while I helped clean up. He was still on the phone when I finished so I went out on the fields too (got very grassy feet as a result as the grass had not long been mown and there was cut grass everywhere). Then he turns around and tells me the whole thing was just an excuse to find a cache! He gives me his phone (I's been good and left everything at home because I didn't think today was going to work for caching) and goes back to the car for a pen. He caught back up with me around GZ and spotted it before me but then left me to get the log out which turned out to be difficult for some reason, glad my little finger just fit. Signed and replaced and hurried back to the car as family awaited. Thanks for the surprise find this weekend Riser5, much appreciated (had planned for quite a lot of caching this weekend and it all fell through , heavy sigh).
Looked around a few trees before finding this one. Didn't realise how big this park was and we have an event here every year but only use the front field
out and about finding a few caches today....this was a nice walk across the path but at GZ blackberry bushes have grown, just a warning to watch out for the prickles but cache still easy to reach and sign. Thanks for the cache.
I headed up North for the long weekend and today took the opportunity to find a few caches while doing a few tasks in town. Took a stroll across the field and made a quick find here. TFTC!

A nice easy find once we had the right tree Good to do this one in the summer. Merry Christmas TFTC
#519 Nice quick find with &Co. Muggles started training with their two legged owners. TFT(quiet)C.
Nice easy find for me and one very boggy doggy (she loved the fact we managed to go the muddiest way around) definitely accessible without getting grubby though log was pretty wet unfortunately but managed to leave our scribble. Thanks!
Nice fields here. I didn't know about these grounds until I saw a couple of caches pop up on my searches. Followed the GPS and went straight to it. GraciesGPSfun took an alternative route and get her feet wet while mine remained nice and dry. Log was damp but we managed to sign it. TFTC
Straight forward once I looked at the right kahikatea. nice little tuck away. Log a bit damp so was a tad tricky to extract
Found this cache about a month ago and , shame on me I forgot to log it.
Easy find.
The tree is a NZ Native, a young Kahikatea or NZ White Pine. (Dacrycarpus dacrydiodes) and they love to grow in swampy ares.
A Big Thank You for this Cache.

2.00pm. A game of soccer in progress on the other field but nothing where I needed to go. Followed the GPS across the field straight to it. No bauble this time.
Thank you. David.

Had to pick up both kids from their grandparents late today so Liz and I thought we would search for a couple of the Advent series that were close-by.
A pleasant walk across the empty sports field with the GPS directing us right onto the cache then a quick search following the clue until the cache was in hand and a "first to find" as a bonus. Not sure what the tree is but will try to find out it's name for you Nick.
Original cache "decoration" collapsed when replacing the log so a replacement container has been used in the same position.
