TTFC. Great family find. So nice to have one we can learn on and such a great log.
We set out early to find a few caches before returning home after a weekend in Whangarei. There were a few items that matched the hint, but then we saw the natural cache guardian (gorse) and soon after spotted the cache. If it had been better weather this would have been a great place for our lunch stop. TFTC
After emptying the motorhome tanks and filling up with fresh water at the nearby dump station, I parked along here to do a quick circuit of the trail. This was the first one, a little bit of gorse springing up protecting the cache, but easy find, cheers
We stopped near by so Mrs rattll shot over for a reasonably quick find. The log book is very wet though.
Thanks for putting this here for us to find

North Island Campervan trip Day 8
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I was able to spend the night catching up with friends in Kaiwaka before setting off this morning to head up towards Russell in the Bay of Islands. I haven't been there in over 30 years, and was really looking forward to being there again. In the end I didn't quite get that far today, ending up spending a great night near a beach in Whale Bay.
The first part of my day way to be a casual drive up to Whangarei, making a point of stopping at as many caches along the way as I could, including this one.
I was able to park up and walk over to this one without any fuss. The cache itself took me a few minutes of searching to locate. But finding no issues with the cache or the log I quickly added my name to the sheet and then was back on my way again. It is interesting to note that the last log signing before mine is from June.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

No time to stop for lunch...just time to find the cache. Thanks or the placement
Out and about while the sun's shining. Stopped for lunch on the way at a yummy bakery . Kids found this before I got here
What great area..loved the wooden board walk..amazing where caching takes you and look what comes out of the trees ..many thanks Riser
What an amazing mangrove walkway. Didn't know about this. I am glad the pampas has been dealt to. Thanks for bringing us here Riser5
Never new there was a walkway there. Have been meaning to stop and get theses ones when we drove past. Instead we kayaked up the river, before finding a suitable area to disembark before doing a quick walk around to get these caches. The boardwalk is great. Thanks for the hide.
A day of caching in my old home town but I'm pretty sure this walkway wasn't here when I lived here. I quite enjoyed this search. I saw lots of cabbage trees but no pampas. Then I noticed all the pampas was just dry dead clumps. Eventually located signed and returned to a dry dead clump. Thanks for bringing me here.

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!

#6444. I am staying in Auckland with the extended family. I need to find just two more caches to complete the NZ Jasmer challenge. Both of them are near Whangarei so a day trip was planned to drive north and pick up the target caches plus grab a few other old ones and any nearby caches while I still had enough time before driving back to Auckland in the evening. It was a stinking hot and fine summer's day in the north. With my two jasmer caches under the belt (Piroa Falls and Hugh Crawford) it was time to grab a few more local caches.
This cache: Back into the big smoke and starting to head south. This was the lucky last for the day. Parked up at this wetland and headed off along the track. Saw the likely looking hiding spot but my first pass was lazy and missed the container. So wandered around checking other spots before coming back here. This time a more careful look revealed the cache. Signed the logbook and returned the cache as found. Thanks Riser5 for hiding the cache here. Time to head back to the in-laws.

In spite of the positive weather reports, the day started with a light rain, so I decided to put a few miles on the odometer in hopes that it would clear up as the day wore on.
I was biting my fingernails as the rain let up for just long enough for me to make a mad dash to GZ. The cache was really well hidden, so it took a few seconds to find it. TFTC.

We have been driving past here for the past couple of decades (actually, more than that) and have never stopped, not that there was always a nice walkway around here. TOday we had no kids and there was no mention of no dogs so we decided to take the dogs for a walk as well as find a few caches. Nice lunch spot, pity it wasn't lunchtime. Fairly quick find although hint initially led me astray - no pampas but there is harakeke here. Missed it on the first look but once I decided that it just had to be somewhere around there I came across the goods. Thanks for placing Riser5, we might never have stopped here otherwise.
Would never had known this beautiful little picnic area was here if not for this GC. Not too many muggles today... although it looked like some friendly four legged friends from the SPCA were going for their walk.
Was very well hidden and a lovely camo'ed container which made for a great 1st geocache for my Dad to log (Matini264).
TFTC look forward to future ones CO

After visiting my parents, overnight, north of Dargaville, it is time to take the homeward bound road. But there were a few caches I had my eye on in Whangarei, so I decided to take the less direct route home. That done, I am making my way out of Whangarei now, but not before I find one more cache. I parked up and made my way into the reserve. The GPSr took me straight to GZ where I immediately spotted the camo. Nice to execute a super quick find. Lunch sounds like a good idea. I think I will grab some food for the trip south. Cheers for the cache placement!
Took a while as quite well hidden. Lack of grass nearby; think it may have died off
After a bit of thorough searching we found it, a camouflage vessel. Was definitely hidden and tucked away well
Stopped off on my way home from work tonight to look for this one. Didn't have the GPS or data on the phone, so was going from memory of the description and hint. Took a couple of minutes to lineup the hints and then spotted a telltale for the cache which was soon in hand.

Out and about in town and doing a little bit of caching ......had missed this one for awhile so finally stopped and picked it up. nice hide...thanks for the cache
Labour day stroll with the family. A nice little wander among the trees and poo ponds. Could use a bit more information for people who don't know what the bigdeal is, but otherwise good to finally visit the place. Thanks for the cache!
Need to become more educated on plants... Quick find once we knew what to look for lol. Tftc
Quick find. Lovely hide away park. Interesting ice cream containers everywhere.
I told my buddy this might require a bit of a hunt but my tablet led me directly to it today. I don't know how I missed this last time. Oh well. We went for a walk here for my buddy to get the other nearby cache. Thanks for another smile on my map
This one is a very clever cache. Took a little while to find but once we married up the clue to gz we were able to find. Tftc
Back today with the clue updated. Searched the same gz but different trees this time but still no luck. A nice way to fill in time waiting for my son's bus. Thanks anyway
I'm back up in my home town of Whangarei for the holiday period and today joined up with fellow Auckland cacher yorkshirekiwi83 and local caching friends tikitour for a hot summers day of caching around the city. The logs were either signed with our caching names or some combination of the letters T,V & Y for our caching names - depending on who had previously found the caches. We went for a short wander around the Limeburners walkway and made a quick find of this cache on our way in. TFTC!

Decided to finish the year and see in the new year in Whangarei, Vistra and tikitour decided to join me and we spent the time grabbing caches around the region, in some cases it was just one that needed to sign in others it was all three of us, signed as TYV (or combination of those letters) or VY when it was more than 1 of us.
Parked up opposite the SPCA and took a walk around the reserve, really great to see what has been done here, this was a quick find once we worked out the plant life. TFTC

Looked for this one but hadn't updated my phone so I was working on the old clue. Not surprising that I didn't find it lol. Enjoyed a picnic lunch under the shaded entrance then a walk around the area collecting the other nearby caches. Keen to get back to get this one now. Thanks
nice quick find while passing on one of my very few trips to whg these days. thx ftf
