Cleaning out the dirty laundry as I’m not interested in maintaining this cache, besides p81 isn’t quite the challenge it once was.
Still remember the shit fight trying to get it published as the reviewer thought not enough cachers qualified, how funny is that

Out and about on this holidaytrip down under. Many things to see and do here and of cause there are some geochacing to be done.
Did spend some time studying the map before I left home, my list of geocaches that I Would like to find is long....so will have to chose wisely.
Guess the best ones are not on my list, longer hikes, high trees and mulitcaches are anmong my favorites, but limited time made me put others on my list.
This was one of the caches I found during my stay here and this one took me some time to reach as the wind were very strong up here today but I did it.

Boy was this a cache in the making. And it almost didn't end up happening, even today.
As you can see from SirJ-Oz and Annoying Tarbit's logs, a lot happened, but I a, super please to say, the cache was :
- found
- **opened**
- signed
- replaced
I did a round as safety officer, which I am sure looked funny, as I was there on crutches, but rest assured, everything was safe. I am so glad to have been able to be here for SirJ-Oz's big milestone and for any other caches along the way. Thanks for inviting me on this and other adventures, I hope we have many more into the future.

Find #3000. Found @ 11:55 with LouiseAnn, and Annoying Tarbit.
3000 (arabic), MMM (roman), BB8 (hexadecimal), 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 x 5 x 5 x 5 (factors of primes), prime 240 + prime 237 (sum of primes), 3x10^3 (scientific), three thousand (english words)...
... This is the 3K milestone find for me. Originally, it was planned for my 2K milestone on 2015-05-31, but the weather didn't play along for that one. Instead I grabbed "Stuck on You" (https://coord.info/GC46Z91)
I first completed my P81 challenge on 2014-05-03, then after some DT changes I finished it for the second time on 2015-01-25. Since then another DT has changed, but I had another of those in reserve.
The plan for P81 Master Challenge has been on the go for a while, and in that time I've never really gotten around to it. Annoying Tarbit has scored his P81, and I cajoled LouiseAnn recently to complete hers as well. With the 3 of us ready to go, I pulled my finger out to get it done. We stayed in McCrae for the night and ventured to GZ as the morning fog was burning off. I brought all the gear that I figured we'd need, which I'd scoped out on a previous trip.
Our arrival on site and setting up the gear was almost as far as we got. A parks representative showed up and asked us what we were doing.
We explained that we were geocaching. There is one up there, we have all the safety equipment necessary to do it safely.
"Not today you're not" was the reply.
The collective sinking of hearts was almost palpable. The key is to remain calm and rational and explain that we have the gear, we know what we're doing, we're in a public park, the cache is placed with permission, we're breaking no rules.... whether all of those things are strictly true or not is immaterial. It is the vibe that is important.
Eventually, with much grumbling and wandering back and forth, and inspecting what we were doing, and taking pictures of what we were doing, we were permitted to continue. Phew! Although he did keep coming back to mutter to himself (not so quietly) what a bad idea this was.
I went first, placing protection as I went, with Annoying Tarbit on belay. It took me a while, and there were some hairy moves involved, but I got to code and then got to the container. The next hurdle was to try to open the box. The code was correct, the mechanism was moving, but the box was not opening. I tried for a while, but eventually decided to take a selfie and hope that would suffice.
I came down and Annoying Tarbit went up, with LouiseAnn doing the belaying this time. AT made it to the top and had the same issues that I did in getting the box open. While we scrambled around to find the contact details of the CO, we hatched a back-up plan of sending up some tools.
We got hold of the CO and he said that selfies were okay, but not long after that AT got the box upon using a tool and bit of leverage to convince the unlocked box to open. With our names in the book, all that was left was to lower AT down, while removing the protection.
During the exercise, we attracted various audiences, including curious families, curious magpies, a curious walking group, and definitely a curious parks employee.
Once on the ground, the rope was pulled down, and the retrieval setup I'd come up with worked a treat, and I got all my equipment back. There were high-fives all around, packed up the gear and went on our merry way.
Maybe the next finder(s) might like to bring some WD-40 and some sort of screwdriver leverage tool with them so as to gain access more easily to the container.
Took nothing (except a great experience), left nothing (except a bit of skin), signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache Team?aky. This definitely gets a favourite point for being a great challenge, and a lot of fun to get.

Find #3382
Apologies for the late log. I headed down the peninsula on a Sunday morning with the primary objective of teaming up with a couple of other cachers to tackle this cache. It had been the subject of some discussion over a prolonged period of time given we had all completed our D/T matrices and SirJ-OZ was keen to line it up for a milestone cache. His planning was spot on and ended up with 2999 (or n-1 as he preferred to call it) on the eve of this rendezvous.
After a couple of quick finds for me and a hastily arranged but delicious brunch we headed off up the hill and into the fog with our bellies full of bacon and eggs and our arms full of ladders, ropes and assorted climbing paraphernalia. The tree wasn’t difficult to locate and we easily spotted the code tag from the ground. The cache itself was another matter and we strained our eyes up into the branches but couldn’t see the final prize.
There was nothing for it but to set up and start the ascent. But of course we hadn’t accounted for the officious Parks Victoria representative that threatened to spoil our fun before it had even started. I kept my trap shut (a sound plan for me in the type of scenario) and let the other two explain, cajole and work a way around the roadblock. The plan seemed to work and soon we were left in peace to start the climb.
SirJ-Oz led the way with me on belay and LouiseAnn scoping out and directing from ground level. It took a while but was the safe option with intermediate supports placed on the way up. The trouble started once he reached the cache and despite having the code was unable to gain access and get to the logbook. An anti-climactic moment indeed but he had done the hard work and my ascent was safer following the path of the lead rope.
Of course I had the same problem at the cache and we wondered if selfies would be acceptable. Once I was confident in the code (and my pen proving insufficient) I suggested sending up some small tools such as a screwdriver or penknife. These were sourced and I was able (after much untangling) to lower the retrieval rope and once the bag of tools were attached, pull them up to the cache.
With this added help and a bit of coaxing I was able to prise the container open. My excitement was unconstrained but fortunately I didn't let go of my secure hold on the tree. After a few waves to our spectators far below I was able to retrace the steps that SirJ-Oz had placed and LouiseAnn safely belayed me back down to terra firma. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the challenge and for the cache Team Oaky. I have added my selfie but in any case my name is in the logbook now. My DT matrix is also included as requested. Kudos to my team mates for a great team effort here.

Interesting stat...
Only 36 qualified for this challenge, in Australia, when published on 30/11/13, yet only 19 have found it to date.
As of today, according to project-gc, 174 cachers now qualify from Australia, yet still only 19 have found it!
Is this because of distance to GZ, or it is not an 'easy' challenge cache that is a park-n-grab, or it is not a kayak cache, or because many loops have been gained in groups with their feet on the ground?
Hopefully we can add our name to the short list in the coming weeks... As it took 3757 days to gain the 1st loop back in Dec 2015, now heading to my 8th loop.

Must I remind cachers of the rules again!

Ok so I qualified for this one ages ago but today I took an opportunity while in the area to get up the tree and put my name in the book.
On arrival at GZ I found a young girl 'clearing her thoughts' way up in the branches. She showed me the tag before leaving. She asked if I was looking for a geocache but didn't know there was one higher up.
Once at the box I had a really hard time opening it, I was just about to give up when it finally popped open, typically of course. It might need some TLC, it was pretty stuck.
Adding my name to the book I made my way back down carefully, as a number of smaller limbs are quite brittle, future climbers be warned! Do not hang all your weight on a single branch, spread your weight across a few. My lankiness certainly helps me in this circumstance.
TFTChallenge, TO!

Had written in the logbook and found the caches during the last Melbourne mega event together with karicka but only now qualified to log. The matrix is now complete

We got halfway up the couldn't spot the cache ad decided that the wind was way too gusty to be at the top of this on today.
I will have to return on a calmer day.

Although I now qualify for this challenge, I dont think my kayak will make it up there.

We were in Melbourne to attend the Mega Event and while in the area, we visited some specific caches of interest. When dahumbug mentioned this cache we were keen to join the "Megatrons" for the weekend. This was an awesome place to visit and it was with awe that we were able to log the cache.
Thank you Team@aky for taking the time to place and maintain the cache for everyone to find. We have attached a picture of our D/T grid indicating we are well on our way to completing our third loop. A favourite point from us for the adventure

Had this on the to-do list for the MEGA weekend. Teamed up with a few cachers for Brisbane area for safety.
Arrived early and did the first 6 meters before the others turned up at GZ.
The climb felt safe all the way, the cache itself took some time to open, due to rain I guess.
Sweet to add another challenge to my finds.
And being very close to complete my 4th loop I qualify
Thanks for the cache

Q. Do you want to go to Melbourne for the MEGA.
A. I only want to go if I can find Project81 Master Challenge. If I find only one cache down there, I want it to be this one.
Very early in my caching career I became exposed to DT Grids, Averages and Statistics. All of a sudden the physical and mental challenges looming can be monitored by statistics and numbers. OMG, I was in heaven. You see, I am a self confessed numbers nerd.
This cache, once it graced my radar became a target cache for me, but after completing the DT Grid of course. My DT Grid? I could of done it a lot sooner but I had friends who planned to do it on the same day so I just lined up my milestone with them. Membsec came up from Tasmania to complete their grid on a 4.5/5 puzzle cache of mine and Nyssa double looped on the same day. I myself, completed my grid on Mountain Bike Madness, and it was a double whammy as it was my 1000th Find. Two milestones in one day, and two geocoins activated to celebrate. A little while ago I completed my second loop, but I didn't make a big fuss about it.
On track for attending the MEGA, I saw Karicka log a note on this cache for company on the day. I sent him a friendly message and we soon become facebook friends, in view to finding this cache one day. Organising a meet time was a little challenge as we were finding caches while we were southbound down gthe Mornington, and Karicka was geographically challenged to meet us earlier. Once we arrived, we found Karicka up the tree already in the company of jackylegs.
I was chomping at the bit to lead the others up to this find. Today I also had others finding this cache with me as this cache was a target cache for all of us. It was a motley crue of cachers, predominantly from Queensland, and Bella at Waggy .
I loved every aspect of this challenge cache, and awarding it a Favourite Point without hesitation.
Thanks Team Oaky for the challenge cache, the climb...and some unloved days too, just for good measure.

Caching in Melbourne for the MEGA on a whirlwind weekend visit from sunny BrisVegas with "The Megatrons".
When Dahumbug and I started planning a trip to Melbourne for the MEGA he made it clear that this was his number 1 must-do priority. His enthusiasm must have rubbed off, because I too was quite looking forward to this one, so it was great to head down the Peninsula today and finally make it happen.
Having completed my DT grid back in June and now almost completed a second loop, I certainly qualify for this one. Having read previous logs, it is an esteemed group of peers who have gone before us and a privilege to have achieved this challenge in my short time as a cacher.
I've never been to Arthur's Seat before, so was unsure what to expect. It certainly is a great drive, awesome view and gorgeous park , nice to see it well preserved. We met up with Karicka and Jackylegs44 for this one, who came well prepared for the climb, and had already spotted the tag from the ground. What a grand species this one is! Our group enjoyed both the location and challenge, it is easily worthy of a favourite point.
This cache brings our grand total to 1900 smilies. Thanks Teamaky for showing us this spot, and for placing this cache for all to find.
Feel free to discover our trackable code TGQNRV

When dahumbug asked if this was climbable if he came to the Mega the answer was yes as we had seen it up close before but on that occasion it had been wet and very windy and a result knew it could wait for another day. So as the Mega approached a plan was hatched and a careful eye on the weather and wind was kept for which day to complete the final ascent. The group grew and we meet Karicka and Jackylegs close to GZ. They had a bit more gear than us and had already made a start. A little trick at the start to get going and then up for the mid point and onto the final.
We qualify for this one with 12 loops. TFTC. A fav pt from us

We're flying down from BrisVegas this weekend, and this challenge is the second highest on our priority list (surpassed only by the Mega, of course ).
We looped the grid in only June this year, and are well on the way to loop No 2. Attached is our grid looking forward to a challenging climb!!

We meet the qualifications for this Challenge and thought we'd check out the climb. Not today thank-you! We'll be back when we are more prepared.
Thanks anyway to ???????? for the challenge.

Plan to log this during or close to the Melbourne Mega weekend in November, would like to team up with someone for the climb. I am quite flexible with the dates, send me a message.
Edit, that was not a find but a write note

Together with arbor95 we visited these nice challenges today. It was a famous climbing which could done without a rope.
I have filled the project 81 almost 24 times.
Thank Youe for this cache and for keeping him going.
Greetings to the owner

Wow, what a tree. But good to climb. I climbed and Claus tried to place a rope. The rope was thrown. Just over the Ast (german) of the tag. After some more meters I reached the tresor. I had problem to open but finally I succeeded.
In the meantime Claus explained a muggle family the geocaching

Sometimes we drive to the Grampians and back after work .... but not today. Because today it's only Arthur's Seat Almost a year ago I finally completed the D/T Matrix - it only took me 3873 days! Yep that's like 10.6 years of geocaching to make the first round. I had a couple of slumps in between with the longest being 1586 days between August 2005 and December 2009 but eventually I got there - happy days.
So today I finally decided to finish off this cache and do it Philipp style: muscles but no brain. Meaning I had to call the CO to ask for a beer and other things. The climb itself is a nice mind-game - at least for me because I am definitely not Alex Honnold. Two slings overcame the brain-freeze and off I went. The sun was about to set which reminded me that the next T5 climb for the evening would be propably in the dark. Oh well. Bad luck. That's a story you can read somewhere else.
Thanks and Cheers

We have been working on our Project 81 for some time now and have finally completed it. It is a good challenge to complete with all the places it has take us too and all the crazy adventures from climbing trees to kayaking and even hiking for hours on end just to complete our D/T matrix. We had signed this cache a while ago before we had completed the challenge. It had driven us harder and harder to complete it and we can gladly we have done it. Thanks TeamOaky for making this challenge and thanks for the cache and driving us to complete this achievement.
Mid year I started the 'unloved' challenge, and whilst doing it, started looking at other challenges about. Soon enough the DT challenge presented itself, and after conversation with DT crusher friends of mine, I decided this would be next. Soon enough I started finding unloved and DT grid caches for one cache, which was a massive bonus. After that challenge was logged it was time to concentrate on getting this grid filled.
From there I traveled far and wide to complete this challenge, very hard puzzles, venturing around at night on a kyak, massive tree climbs, difficult hikes - Albury, Chiltern, Cathedral Ranges, Lerderderg to name a few places. I soon saw that there were few who had done this challenge and the ones who had completed it were friends of mine with a similar caching style. Others who hadn't done it passively mocked the challenge 'all that driving just to fill in another little box'. What they didn't realise is - each cache that held unique terrain was brilliant in its own way and stand out as my favourites. This challenge took me out of my region, out of my comfort zone and tested me - big time.
Holidays started for me last week and I had 3 to go - which I could knock out with one big drive to Wonthaggi. What a great feeling it was to log my final - 5/3.5. From there it was straight to here to claim my prize so to speak!
Arrived at GZ with Timmo98 and Tritonz (who will both finish their DT and log in time to come). I scaled the tree at epic pace - both wanting to get my name on the log, adrenaline, and a missus saying I needed to be home in one hour for dinner with relatives. Once at top I took a few happy snaps and descended back down.
Thanks TeamOaky for a fantastic challenge cache in all aspects. It is a big achievement for me to log this cache as it's also a double milestone for me - 2000
Looks like its onto loop two. Just checked out map for Grampians where I'll be all week - a few to crush out there. Cheers and a Safe and Merry Xmas. 'Living the dream'.

With two weeks of holiday I had headed South with the intention to grab this cache (and of course a 'few' others). At 985 km from home (ATCF) I wanted to make sure that I had a few other caches to get as well.
My 'mantra' is to make sure that I find a geocache for every tank of petrol. But at home that is a bit hard, as when I left there was only 2 to find - some 70 km away.
Last weekend I had borrowed enough rope to make sure that I would be able to do almost any tree climb and had stopped by to have a look. It had started raining a bit, and rather dark by the time I had seen where the first 'waypoint' was, so decided to continue on 'my merry way' to a potential (and successful) tree climbing FTF in another state. This afternoon I came with the minimalist but safe amount of gear to climb on up. While I had hoped to have a relative as a spotter they were busy, so I took my time ensuring I was 'belaying myself'.
Got the log book okay, and went to put in a pencil, but the lead had broken. So left a Correct Site Marker - surgical marking pen. 'Sighted' the Geo-Achievement coin. The trackable I had brought up wouldn't fit.
Brought through for mileage: 12-12-12 Event, 3 Bros NSW, Auckland NZ'13, B 2 B Travel ingot, BULLET, CII-35Z, CITO - Upper Swan and Beyond geocoin, family travel, GCookie EARTH Cache 10 year Celebration Coin, GCookie FIZZY Coin, Geo-Kayaker GOLD TB, Hello Cocky TB, Iconic Bridges 2012, Katniss the Kitty, Kengu, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, NZ Mega 13 signature, Oregon, Oz Mega 2014 GCookie, Relay For Life Tag, thank you - moliva, TransAustralia, Trumpey Smurf, Tyler's TB Golf Ball, and trackable shirts.
THANKS for the Challenge and the excuse to get off Terra Firma

I was in the area grabbing an earthcache and came to scope out this cache.
I brought a bunch of gear with me just in case, but the one thing I didn't have was a belayer who was confident in her abilities.
At least we were able to spot the targeted elements in the structure from the ground, and determine how much of the equipment I'd need to bring on a return trip.
I'm attaching a screen shot of my (pre-captured to avoid some recent D/T messiness) completed p81 grid for reference as qualifications for my next visit.

#5477 We were in town and only had a couple of caches targeted for ourselves this weekend & this was one of them . We were fortunate enough to complete our D/T chart a little while ago so it meant that todays effort was just the cache getting exercise. Knowing a little about what some hard core cachers get up to (mad buggars [?]), we did a little leg work at a recent event to see if this cache needed additional equipment. Dad is still a mad buggar himself but has also learned of his mortality that was never a consideration previously - so he probably goes at it 99.99% instead of 100%. Once we were confident the weather was going to behave itself it was on to GZ to retrieve the cache. The pit stop was pretty high but GZ was still at altitude.......no wind, the weather is looking good in the thinner air . Not quite needing cylinders of oxygen just yet Dad made his way to GZ all the while hoping the pen would remain firmly entrenched in his pocket. Fortunately the cache was opened and our name added to the list. Whew!
What a way to complete a Challenge of this nature - a Challenge capped off with a challenge. Got the heart rate going (but not over 160bpm!) with some spectacular views offered from the vantage point of GZ. Our thanks to Team☮aky for a great challenge cache & a brilliant GZ, one of the highlights of the weekend & what a way to get the adrenalin pumping. A FP from us together with a huge thankyou for the fun because fun it was in every way!

I had just arrived at my mum's place in Mt. Martha when my phone went off for a cache alert. I didn't check it for another hour and saw that a new cache had been published not too far away at Arthur's Seat, and a 5/5 as well. I couldn't just up and leave and surely no-one would shoot out for this one so I stuck it out at mum's for another hour before leaving and heading straight to Seawinds.
I had my boys with me today and they remember being here not too long ago for an Earthcache where they had a great time, especially when I read out the latin name's on the tree labels, they would crack up every time. There were quite a few muggles about enjoying the day, and once I had worked out which way to go we headed to the awaiting tree.
We guessed which one it would be as we approached and sure enough, there it stood reaching for the sky - WOW ! I had a look for the mentioned tag but couldn't see anything, so firstly contemplated a plan of attack and started up. Not the best type of tree to climb with good shorts and a t-shirt as the ensuing cuts and scratches soon proved but onwards and upwards I went. I paused at the level I thought the tag would be but saw nothing, the boys by now were exploring the area below, yelling out calls of encouragement from below.
Onwards and upwards yet again, maneuvering, stretching, twisting and reaching, getting higher and higher and suddenly there it was, the code that would be needed. I stretched up in the vain hope of seeing the prize and I caught a glimpse of what I was heading for. Again onwards and upwards and a peak down indicated that I was now a long way up as the boys below were just shadows on the ground. I finally reached the cache and the view was amazing. Getting into a comfortable position I entered the code and opened the cache, retrieving the log book from inside.
Opening the logbook I was astounded to see two names already there (WTF crossed my mind at this point) - ahomburg and sedgwickdave. Right place at the right time and big well done guys. Another 5/5 onto the P81 grid and one of the best tree climbs I've done.
Awesome cache Mark and a big fav point from me.

My caching mate SedgwickDave and I headed out on our regular weekend run, this time on a Sunday. With the weather promising an absolutely fabulous day of 30 degrees, the plan was to clean up as many unfound caches as we could along the peninsula.
What can I say about this one...
First of all, we got extremely lucky, we were in a Cafe in Sorrento, waiting for a coffee and baked goods when a few new cache notifications came through. This one looked very interesting and right up our alley - a 5/5
So, GZ was about thirty minutes away, so during the drive we discussed who was going to be the competition for FTF? Was it going to be Spladem, maybe Covert or highest chance would be Quasar3671. Perhaps DrJim would pop his head in.
We arrived at GZ and not a single soul about so a plan of attack was formed. I went first and with a little shove from dave was on the first branch. Was that the hardest bit? No it was not!! Gradually made my way up with Dave following not too far behind. Another tricky bit with some tactics involved to get up the next bit. Soon after that, the code was located and ever onward I went until I finally spotted the prize still another five or so metres up. Finally I got there, opened the the container and then the log book and a yee harrr could be heard for miles, another joint FTF, even more special being a D5 T5 cache.
Finally reached the ground to be greeted by the CO who had arrived at GZ just as I got to the top of the tree. My arms and legs were covered in scratches and pine sap, but so worth it. Awesome challenge cache, not really sure why this sort of cache had not been placed before now.
Thanks to Team☮aky for the cache. Took the FTF Prize and the FTF trackable to be placed in a new cache coming soon.

Wow what an awesome challenge cache this one was. Completing the Project 81 Matrix was quite a journey for me. The first loop was completed on my 3000th find at “Glide with the Eagles” GCRCW1 on the 13th of July 2013, now that was an experience... Most of my fondest memories of caching where on runs hunting the rarer combos to complete this grid. Thinking back over the past 3 years or so, I am amazed had what I have done to sign a log, getting my scuba license so I could do GC36C4A, climbing very tall trees even when I am not a fan of heights, digging thru snow and ice for a micro while in a blizzard....
So today while waiting for coffee to be made in a small Sorrento cafe this morning, the cache published notification sound was heard from the phone.
What’s this.... Seeing the description and cache rating the coffee was nearly dumped as a frantic dash to GZ was then made. Myself and Ahomburg where down on the peninsula doing some clearing of the area of unfound caches, so it was luck that had us in striking distance today for a FTF attempt.
Once on site and seeing no other cars and checking the cache details one final time and twice checking that the pen was in the pants pocket (very important); we both started the ascent. These types of trees can be either easy or really hard, the hard bit always being at the base I have found. This particular one had 2 sections of challenge and the first being getting to the first branch and then for the second using some bear grylls 3 point contact moves to shimmy up and around.... From there on it was fairly straight forward with not too many death grip moments being experience. Ahomburg went up first and confirmation of a FTF was soon heard a loud. Another joint FTF!! After Ahomburg completed signing the log I waited in a section a few meters below and to the side to allow him to pass on the way down which left the path clear for me to make the final 3m climb up to where the cache was nicely secured. Finally being able to relax I got into a good position to enter the code and extract and sign the log. After returning the log and putting all back in order took a moment to admire the views I then realised I had left the camera below, dam... O well. Some nice views of the Bay form up here, which I think could be about 25-30m high at least.
On the way down found this to be a little harder in places so some drop and hang/swing moves where required and after a few minutes was very pleased to be finally back on firm ground. Legs scratched and bruised with some added sticky pine sap as a bonus, but this did not matter as the cache log had been sign and I had survived.
It’s great to see this type of challenge cache finally in Victoria.
A huge TFTC to Team Oaky for placing this challenge cache and it is in a very fitting location and a nice size cache size too. A Favourite [^]

Two weeks to get published and found just over an hour after going online. Great effort and congratulations to all three teams.
Looks like I will have to make 2nd loop challange way harder

Just arrived Geo-Achievement D/T grid 81 coin & pin. We have two up for grabs, one for the best log or photo in the first ten finds the other for the best log /photo in first twenty logs (that could take some time me thinks) the third will remain in the cache to be discovered by climbers
