After kayaking down the cust River, I went to look for this cache, is I have already found this I thought it was going to be a piece of cake. Bur instead, the container was nowhere to be found and I ended up looking all over the bridge, to no avail. Please replace it soon.
I found this accidentally a while back when I didnt know about Geocaching so its funny to see it here and to now know why it was there! I even did a wee write up on my FB at the time saying it was the weirdest find of the day lol I didnt find the loot either sadlyI did try and find it tho!I did put it back where it was but after the flooding I think it has been washed away from its location now.
We found it! Real easy find. Thanks for replacing it. So cool to have a second shot at finding it.
Cache has been replaced, hopefully the high waters don't get to it again! Thanks Fangsoki for your trans-tasman help!
1MinnieMoo and I pulled up for this one next. catscatscatscatscatscatscats22 had asked if we could replace a cache for her while we were in NZ. We gathered what we needed and arrived at GZ. We replaced the cache - but not before signing it ourselves. A great spot for a cache. TFTC ghijkgardner catscatscats22
29/9/2023 Find #6669Day 21 of the Fangsoki/1MinnieMoo New Zealand South Island adventures. Today was our final day of travel, heading from Hanmer Springs back to Christchurch, ready to fly home tomorrow. Having received an SOS message a few days ago from the CO, Fangsoki and I added this cache to our list and headed here after making an emergency stop at the shops. The water was certainly rushing here today, and our first approach was a no-go if we wanted to stay dry. Second approach was better, and a search ensued. The water certainly does come up high here at times (evident by the flood marker as well as the debris). We confirmed the cache was indeed missing, so planted the replacement on behalf of the CO. Thanks for the cache catscatscats22.

We are in Christchurch for the weekend for Richard's nieces 21st & we decided to pop out in between prep jobs to grab a few caches close by to Mandeville.
A re-think on this one, map said we could get it this way but we couldn't. Alternative route & a quick park & grab!

There is a nice pullover area near here. We were after the last of our horses series for the day, but we will need to get it from a different direction as we cannot drive through here.
Cache found safe and sound. TFTC catscatscats22.
We are based in Mandeville this weekend, and the reason for the trip south is my niece’s 21st party this weekend. It’s a short trip, and we are pitching in with a bit of prep for the event, so not a lot of scope for geocaching, which is fine.
But since we are in the region and we did have a couple of hours on Saturday, we dipped into some local ones. This included the last, or close to it, of the horses series and a few other trads in the area. It’s nice to tick these off and see the horse’s head getting more defined on the map.
All caches targeted today were found, thanks all COs.

In the water but rescued and dried.had to use a large stick to move it to the edge of the water so kiscardi could grab it.the container was still useable too so that was great.Hopefully it is now safe for awhile. Maybe some kids playing threw it in there. Thank goodness for waterproof paper.Signed the dried log and replaced container where I thought it would of been.find 171 with kiscardi a break from the horse puzzle cache we are finding

Trying for 200 today with NZ Bozzy so plenty of caches around here to add too our tally.
this is number 171 for today and my 5171 cache to find.

Out today with busy paws and lytteltonwitch finding solved puzzles. A local passing us at previous cache told us there was a cache here. Noticed write note but found a click clack with log in obvious spot under bridge so signed log. Thanks for this cache ghijkgardner catscatscats22.
Bad weather seems to have washed this one away.
I am unfortunately no longer in the area, but if anyone is able to replace this, it would be greatly appreciated!

Explored the disused bridge. Was very surprised to see water flowing here. Thought it would be dry at this time of year.
I’m in Christchurch for another visit for 4 days. On my own this time, hoping to pick up many puzzle finals. I have hired a nice little car, very economical and quite sporty too. It was very clean when I picked it up yesterday but with all the back roads it will get very dirty! Thank you for the cache.
I met this C.O's husband and daughter today, just up the road a bit. I was finding a cache and they spotted me. They said there is a cache under a bridge which I knew was coming up and so I had to come here and find it.

Team BOP on another crazy mission again to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.
So Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission, the Cachly cut’n’paste template is sorted and while I unapologetically use this tool, I truly appreciate you placing this cache for us to find. We managed to find this one quickly and without fuss. Most importantly it provided a much needed break between the various geo-art caches we've been working through. Cheers catscatscats22 & TFTC

As Auckland Mega has been postponed we decided to do a trip south to Christchurch. Four of us from Team BOP joined up to share a car and accomodation. I always love these weekends as the company is great and makes our days and nights out caching lots of fun. We have done lots of puzzles in preparation and did some long windy roads to get them. Found lots of great caches and thanks to all the COs for the effort that goes into these Please excuse the copied logs and I will try to make some individual notes on as many as I can This sort of trip is where I find the cachly app very valuable. TFTC
On a mission to the south after mega in Auckland was canceled. Team Bop booked airfares and here we are. Thanks all COs for your efforts. Due to numbers please excuse copy and paste logs in advance.
With the Mega Covid cancelled this year a part of Team BoP decided to come south and try get all our solved puzzles, and some others along the way. So here we are!
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Down in Christchurch with the Squirrel, ABCDF4 and eyespyben. During Covid lockdown, we solved a load of puzzles and decided that this would be a good time to visit. We've enjoyed a few days of good weather and seeing the Canterbury countryside. The caches have been in varying states - some good, some not so much. Our time here has been a blast, and we'd like to thank all COs who have made this adventure possible. Thank you and TFTC.
With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap). Logging all finds as Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa - Our hometowns)... During Covid-19 lockdown, we solved a truck load of puzzles around Christchurch - Canterbury region. No use thrashing the old grey matter for no cause - We decided we should make good on this handiwork...
There are lots of interesting trails and geoart surrounding Christchurch. What you aren’t told is how far flung some of these caches actually are. Some beforehand advice would have been great, so here are some of my notes... You’re welcome!
1. Mobile coverage is patchy, especially in those quiet, rural areas where it was most needed. Saving caches to offline might show that you are prepared and organised...
2. There are many dusty metal roads on the trails. The car will get messy, and your hair will feel like cardboard at the end of the day...
3. Suitable clothing and footwear are essential. You will climb in and out of hedges, gorse, and other rough stuff. You might get scratched, cut to shreds, and bleed a lot. It’s not advised to wear your brand new jacket on the day...
4. Take lots of food and drink. You’ll probably be head down, tail up and not realise you haven’t eaten until late afternoon. There are very few shops or gas stations out there...
5. Make sure that you secure keys and wallet and know where these are placed for easy retrieval. A full box of pens might be useful too, especially if you’re inclined to free some into the wild...
6. Know the difference between left and right, and north, south, east, and west. Turning right and heading north will not get you to South Christchurch quickly.
7. Look with girl’s eyes rather than boys eyes... Some caches haven’t been found in a while and you might have to get down on your knees to pray.
8. Always be prepared for misleading hints. This is what turns simple caches into D5/T5 hides... “Head height” could mean the cache is positioned at your toes.
9. Have a sense of humour and like the people you go caching with. It’s going to be a very long day, and you might want to hurt someone during the journey...
10. Make sure you can operate your phone/device and it doesn’t crash when you most need it...
11. Learn to cut and paste logs because you’re going to repeat this function so often when logging all of your finds.
12. Above all else, have fun and be kind...
Another big day to the north of Christchurch. This should clear out the last of the trails on our lists... Our afternoon mission is to sweep through the remainder of the Horse trail... No problems with this one in the end - Found exactly as hinted. Thanks ghijkgardner catscatscats22 and TFTC.

After puzzle solving in the Canterbury region along with EyeSpyBen we were invited to join Fap (from Fap & Gap) and Squirrel Nutcase to a week long caching adventure in the Canterbury area. With flights and accommodation booked were off, all met up in ChCh. and many hard dusty Kms travelled and many caches found, I think the Squirrel has said it all in his brief. Many thanks for the placements and Cos for bringin us to the very pleasant areas we travelled in to your region

Wandered down here with the dogs. My second visit as the first time I had no GPS (or clue). Lovely spot. Picked up a trackable (my first - 2H6GA1) Will move her on soon.
Glad to turn this into a smiley. Obviously looked a little more intelligently this time round. Found with Lytteltowitch on a good day out. TFTH, all safe and dry.
Found the place that I'm fairly sure the cache would have been and it's gone. Needs a CO check, it's a great place for a hide!
Macpacmum and I both had a good look for this one and decided that it appears that sometime in the past there has been a flood around the area that has probably taken the cache. We could be wrong but didn't find it today.
Nice little hiding place and another little river for the kids to throw some stones
ess.daphne and I decided to go on another caching mission in order to get 50 caches to get the final Hidden Creature souvenir. I also wanted to take my new car on her maiden caching mission. We all had a fantastic day in the sunshine and howling wind, getting dusty and windswept; team Jeje riding in Gigi.
We had a nice wee stop here and I'm glad to see the bridge is still in use. We ran into a muggle and her dog who we saw three caches beforehand. We must've looked peculiar. TFTC.

Found today with injeanious, we got around 50 caches today in order to find all of the hidden creatures. We signed the logs as JeJe to save time and space. Tftc!
Been along day on the bike so decide to drive to this one rather than carrying on from the last cache on the track . quick find tftc
And so onto the last piece of business for the afternoon, grab some solved horsey puzzles before heading back to Blenners. We reduced the list of outstanding puzzles by another 30-plus caches, maybe one more session before the geo-art is complete.
After a couple of reluctant hours at the mall we headed off back to Rangiora-ish area to wrangle and round up some horses before heading back up the line to Blenheim. Also managed to grab and EC and a Wherigo - yay!
Into breakfast after leaving the motel at around 0800 and a nice decent breakfast to set the scene for the day before heading out Balcairn way. nightowl19 even managed some more driving experience, it all helps. Thanks to all the COs and apologies for the cut and paste logs, note taking was not much more than the name/number.
A real quick roadtrip weekend 'down the line' to Chch and surrounds for us this weekend. mrs capperz is on her own 2 week roadie, so it's just nightowl19 and I for the long haul, 800kms, puzzles and trads, a couple of badge upgrades on Statto project-gc, and a few take-away establishments visited to maintain the caching machine. A good weekend which as usual is over too soon, but still a good couple of days away. I had a meal to go to on Friday night so was not on the road until the relatively late time of 0800 on Saturday morning, and back home again just 36 short hours later on Sunday evening. Treble figure haul over those 2 days and plenty of back road sights and experiences of parts of Canterbury not travelled before. Managed a couple of earth caches, a load of apples (enough for cider!), some childrens names and even mustered some errant horses (on the loose from Kaimanawa?}

Oh, would make our route a bit shorter if the bridge was available for cars. Anyway, we trolled around and then drove around. The bridge looks well made, although old anyway. Probably could still hold a tank.
20th cache of our day of horsing around.

The locals must have found this hard when their bridges were blocked off but great they have been left for walkers. Tftc.
Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 1: The focus for this evening was on the Horses 101 Geoart plus a few extras which were nearby. This was a great warm up for the trip with a few tricky finds which took a bit of searching to find. It was great turning these puzzles into smiles after the many hours spent solving them all. A fairly successful run through the series with only a handful of DNF's along the way.
A big thanks to the CO's for the hides and especially the CO for the Geoart as I can only image the effort involved for setting these up. Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

The start of the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB (and in 24 hours iammrwalker) for a bit of a road trip
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size.
Thank you for the placement, thank you for the cache

In the morning I had to take care of a semi-long task, but come lunch, I was out of the house in search of caches! I thought I'd better acquaint myself with the neighbourhood and get the count up at the same time! TFTC!!
In CHCH to visit friends for a long weekend and had a couple of hours to spare today. Concentrated on the area with the solved horses puzzles to get my numbers up. TFTC
A cold crisp day but after being cooped up yesterday with only a small outing though the girls needed a run about. Called out this way and parked up at GZ and wandered the river bed, throwing stomes and investigating. Girls soon had enough and the lure of treasure was good to get them back to the car. Quick easy find back on site by Dad and lifted up number 2 so she could grab the find. Thanks for the hide.
I'm in the Christchurch area mainly for work for a few days this week. Today I had some spare time to go out and about finding a few caches. I was out and about finding solved 'horses' puzzle caches and my GPS autorouting brought me past here. It thought I could drive across this bridge. Doh! Left the car near the bridge and went to find this cache. All good here.. TFTC, Biggles.
Cyclocaching my way around the area and this one was on my route. A nice quick find. TFTC.
Visited this cache twice - once for the find and signing the log and again to return the log that I still had in my hand - almost back at the car when I noticed that. TFTC #7857
Out for some Mega caching with Rhyssa6, Dutchie1950 and TriciaC2 today.. Saw some beautiful countryside today and had a blast caching. Great to have a few sets of eyes for the tricky ones. Lots of work gone into these! Thank you %owner for placing and maintaining this cache.
Out on a caching day with Dutchie1950, Rhyssa6 and The Green Gheckos. Great day. TFTC.
# 986 – A day out with The Green Geckos, Rhyssa6 and Triciac2 after the weekend Mega in Christchurch. Trying to collect most of the Horses 101 series before we go home to OZ. Not exactly the best day to go geocaching, with socks and shoes being soaked after the first two or three caches... Geocaching is supposed to be fun, isn’t it??? Anyway, the smileys at the end are worth it!
Picked a cache or two or so outside the Horses trail, and this was one of them.

After a morning spent finding Metal Mania caches with Dutchie1950 and The Green Geckos we stopped in at home to dry off a little and have some lunch. Triciac2 decided she would join us to spend the afternoon finding horse puzzles.
While our GPS with the corrected puzzle coordinates was taking a "rest" we decided to find a few traditionals nearby.
This one was my 1600th find.
