Haha no chance!!
We tried this one back in March and made it to the GZ no problem (albeit a little scratched). We left empty handed and it seems that quite a few people have found this one since.
So we tried again today, but didn't get further than about 20m in - the path is almost non-existent now as that gorse and bramble reaches over head height. I love geocaching... but not that much.

I had look on the sides of both the stumps. No luck even though I had been looking for about 20mins. On a positive note because I'm a big unit I seemed to make a nice little trail that the next cacher could use. My legs are on fired because of all the cuts and sweet. I will be back when I see someone has been successful.
I have been unsuccessful today. This cache may need checking because it has not been found in about 4 months. I will be back when I see a fellow cacher has been successful. The gorse was discussing
#475 I had been putting this one off due to the horror stories of gorse... And that was quiet accurate. Quick find but a slow mission there.
Found 2 stumps but no luck in finding. Gorsy knoll may be a bit more appropriate. Thanks for the explore!
Searched both stumps high and low but no sign of it. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough, and too busy pulling splinters out of my fingers. Next time I'm bringing hedge cutters
Found last summer and forgot to log as didn't have premium. Good find defs a mission to get to through corse but awesome view !
Took longer than expected. Nice spot. Overvlook3d it many times before tugging. TFTC
Just the right combination of gorse, blackberry cutty grass on the path to GZ. Great view over Upper Hutt. TFTC
A tricky find and a surprisingly small container. Thanks very much for the cache.
A lunchtime visit today so had the required suitable footwear however the work shorts didn't provide much leg protection but fortunately all the bleeding stopped nice and quickly. Definitely more of a "Gorsey Knoll" than a grassy one. Instant find at GZ thanks to good co-ordinates and hint. SL TFTC
Found with nz1 and gbnz

Sneaky little hide amazingly found in first place I looked. Thanks for the cache.
TFTC. My second attempt at 'the gorsey knoll' - tried a few months ago, not knowing it was out of action. This time it was an easy find - the hardest part was getting the log out of the container - you need to roll this one up pretty tight to get it back in & make it easy for the next person to extract! Now that this one is off my list, a little retail therapy is called for...
An unpleasant prickly experience I must say. Tried several spots before discovering the hidey hole. Easily overlooked this one, I wasn't expecting such a small container in an out of the way spot - sneaky TFTC.

Coordinates were about 10 meters off so searched the wrong stump at first which looks like it has been completely pulled apart quick find once we explored other possible spots.
Didn't find any evidence of a shooter on the Grassy Knoll - couldn't find the cache either.
#613. I was wondering where this grassy knoll might be. The satellite image on the geocaching webpage shows a knoll covered in forest with a cache under trees! Must be an older image as when I showed up today there is a grassy track starting to get overgrown with gorse and a lot of tree stumps. Fortunately there is also a reasonable geotrail to follow and it leads right to the cache. The container was sitting a bit exposed but after signing it is now placed very close by but under a bit of natural camo. TFTC
Definitely a prickly walk! Took a few minutes to locate the exact location then my son found the cache with his eagle eyes! TFTC
There were two possible locations. Could not see it at first location and geo-wife said it must be up there. Up I went only to hear the cry "I've got it!" It is one of those caches that you can look at directly and not see it.

Couldn't find it. Probably has fallen out again. Also, only read about the gorse before entering so that's annoying
Took a bit of finding as it had fallen from stump. Safe and sound now at side of stump.
Off for a walk with geopups while visiting the parents...grabbed the caches that weren't around last visit. Not sure there are prickle proof clothes...pups were a bit weary of all the gorse. TFTC
Trickiest find of the day. Searched several of the hinted objects before settling on the correct one. Eagle-eyes finally spotted this tricky hide. TFTC.
Have sourced new *suitable* cache container and will install and enable next weekend...
Had a look today and it has been muggled - Will need to think of a new hide idea as the location appears to no longer suit the previous style of cache container...
Gorse on the track has been cut but really stumped as to its whereabouts after a good search.
Found while Redants was picking his way towards me through the "grass". It looks like someone has been mowing the "grass", with a slasher I would guess. SL TFTC.
Interesting and informative cache subject with clever use of the theme for the location. But the assassin probably didn't have to contend with gorse!
I was at college (NZ version of that term) at the time of the assassination so first heard about it from a teacher. I didn't follow politics much so the fact that this event was something which would have an impact on the world for the rest of history didn't hit home for me at the time. (Remember this was well pre-Internet and the level of globalisation we have now.)
Slightly challenging approach to the cache but an easy find once there. But in view of the tendency of gorse to proliferate rapidly I wonder if this area will eventually be difficult to access.
As I quickly tire of micros and had done three this morning it was good to find one cache that wasn't to complete the session before heading off to a commitment closer to the town centre.

Alas I can own up to being able to remember the day that we learnt of the news of the assassination of JFK.
Expecting yet another grassy knoll I was puzzled by our encounter with the gorsey (or should that be furzey) knoll instead. Certainly no assassination attempts happening around here.. far too prickly for even the keenest of snipers! Some good views to be had.
The cache proved to be a straightforward find. Cache is in order; log was signed, then cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Nearly had us stumped, certainly had us scratching! That gorse had left its mark Not alive at the time of JFK but we still see it as one of the events that shaped our recent history. Dropped off honeymoon tb. Tftc
Another great find while in the area. SL TFTC
Thanks TheBOrg, an interesting place to visit.

Nice straight forward find while in the area this afternoon. A fleeting shower, meant a fleeting visit! TFTC
I can remember first hearing that JFK had been assassinated from my mother - as it was a Saturday, we were home from school and I had just come indoors from playing outside. No saturated TV coverage back then, just the announcement on the radio, if I remember correctly.
Thanks for the gorse hazard info, and the parking co-ords, always appreciate those. Nice views from here. TFTC.

This was a nice walk to a spot I hadn't previously visited to halve my remaining number of dot days.
I don't normally buy into conspiracy theories but there are aspects of this event that I have read about that have me wondering.

I visited the gorsely mound this afternoon, quite a good panorama from the top. TFTC
Cache # 1,478 - a quick find on an overcast morning. Walking up here certainly did conjure up images of finding a perfect spot to take a shot from. JFK was gone before I was here, but being an American means that I was steeped in the lore and the history of the time. Thanks for the cache and the memories. TNLNSL.
Find #1754. Came up to Upper Hutt on the train with the bike to find some caches and enjoy a ride back down the river trail. Puffed up the hill to this one (don't do hills!), then picked my way through the gorse - thank goodness it has been cut down! SL TFTC
Found with very little trouble. Lucky the path to the cache site has been cleared of gorse otherwise it might have been a very prickly situation
Got shot my a CIA sniper (the houseowner's dog) so had to retreat for another day.
#4934. Went up the grassy knoll after a business function tonight. No boots, but did change into some more suitable walking shoes than the normal work ones. Certainly jandals will not be recommended for this knoll. All in all not too bad. Quick walk to GZ. Great vantage point. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Well 50 years have gone by since the news arrived by RADIO waves scary.
Found the Knoll easy enough but the grass was more elusive.

An enjoyable and nicely placed cache with dead accurate coordinates. But boy was it hot here in the sun! No problems with the gorse, that was fairly tame compared to many others I have encountered. I remember clearly when the Kennedy assassination took place - in those days before international TV transmissions were possible one relied on the radio and newspapers so it was the radio that alerted me first, followed by seeing the photographs in the newspaper that evening. Definitely a shocking series of events. Found the cache instantly in the first place I checked - signed log, thanks for the cache.
Quick find early this morning. Already a hot day early-on. A great place for a cache. Used to roam up here as a youth. Nice to find a note from the wife in the log ... she knew i'd be coming.
