Found it but forgot pen. Awesome view over harbour on a still Sunday morning. Will have to return to sign log
This cache took us to the best view in Monganui. What a view it was. We replaced the log while here as we thought it could do with an upgrade. Someone was very creative in using a chewing gum packet as a log. TFTC Riser5. TM
The views from here are stunning. Cache was exactly where it was expected to be. TFTC.
Interesting location, with great views over the sea to enjoy in this sunny day.
We visited this place during our drive across New Zealand.
Thanks for the cache.

We visited this cache during our trip through out New Zealand!
With our rental car, we explored the north island for 12 days.
NZ is a beautiful country and we really enjoyed our time here.
We hope to return one day and explore a little bit more!
Day 9 - Pahia to Awanui
After two rainy days, today the weather was finally sunny, and that was great, this way we were able to enjoy the beauty of this area. We had a great time today and found a bunch of caches!
Thanks for the cache.

Visiting from Tauranga and loving the caching here. Cache good, new log added. TFTC
#10912. A very interesting historic church, and a good place to sit and enjoy the views. Also liked the cross on the dead tree. TFTC.
With the wet start to the day, we had a lazy start to the morning. After coffee, the rain seemed to have cleared so time to saddled up the geomobile and head out to Coopers Beach and surrounding areas for exploration and of course, caching. Thanks to all the COs for taking us to some fabulous locations.
We walked up from the waterfront which was an interesting if energetic walk! Cache was a quick find, thank goodness, then we read the interesting information panels. Well done to whoever instigated these panels. Sat on the nearby seat to admire the views then carried on to the nearby multi.
Thanks for bringing here, well worth a visit. TFTC.

Had to go to Mangonui to get take aways as coopers beach take aways doesn't have eftpos. Thanks Fresh and Tasty Mangonui. Oh and great cache while waiting for dinner to cook.
Heading from Waitangi to the north we stopped here for a nice walk and some caches. Thanks.
Well it is a nice walk up but a cable at a danger-point???
Hmmmm we searched thoroughly and found nothing, sorry riser5 might be gone?

Maybe I didn't spend enough time looking, but it was a DNF. Picturesque church and good view though.
Enjoyed the fabulous views while waiting for the muggles to leave the church then straight to it. We dried the log in the sun for a little while as very wet. Pretty full too.
First time in this area. Loved this town.
Would love to come back again.
Unable to sign the log as it was totally wet.
A few photos of the view.

#1809 Found as part of a road trip to the Cape with my niece. Despite having been to Manganui many, many times before, I had never ventured up this hill. Neat hide and a beaut spot. TFTC!
Visiting NZ from the US. Walked some of the Heritage trail in Mangonui and picked up this cache on the way. Log was damp but signable. TFTH!
Found during a late afternoon/early evening stroll of Mangonui with sveppi. Staying in Cooper's beach for 4 nights and enjoying the relative warmth of Northland in winter. Sveppi spotted this one, nicely attached, thanks. Log a bit damp but writeable, o-ring broken on container...
Up in Northland for a little winter break with fanfan-77 staying at Cooper's beach for a few days. On a late afternoon stroll through Mangonui.... came up the path way. Nice hide. Easily spotted. TFTC
Did not sign the log, could not open. What a lovely spot, beautifull views......
That's my exercise for today - 107 steps to an awesome view. Thanks for the cache - know that your log book is really wet.
On a mission this weekend with Cats&Dragons, with a the main goals of reaching Cape Reinga to find the Virtual caches up there and the 35 and 36 degree South challenges, plus with anything else in between. We had a great time touring around Northland, and it is a pretty spectacular place. Being from Southern Northland, it has reminded me that I need to visit this place more.
The initial plan was to head up the west coast and on to Ninety Mile Beach (which was a huge highlight of the trip) and then down the east coast, but the plan was flexible depending on progress. We mostly achieved our ambitious plan, but due to time restraints had to cut back a bit from the planned list. If we had another day I think we would of achieved most of what we had planned.
Some of the figures for the trip were, 1600km's travelled in a 48 hour period, 37 hours of caching, 4 hours of sleep, and 7 hours driving up from Hamilton and back, with a total of 176 caches found!!
Thanks to all the CO's for placing these caches and showing us around Northland.
C&D missed this on the first pass, but got it on the second. Nicely tucked away.

This weekends little adventure was in the company of HKCB (as we'd both been given leave passes by our respective partners) so off we set.
The primary goals this weekend were to collect as many of the earthcaches as time would allow, the two virtuals, and complete both the requirements for the S35 & S36 challenges. Mind you this did not stop us working to collect anything else that we could find as time allowed.
It was a great trip with the weather playing its part so that we saw a great variety of countryside between caches and far too little sleep.
The result was 1600kms (over 48 hours), 189 caches (35 hours caching) & 4 hours sleep, not bad for a couple of beginners. Thanks to all the CO's and those that maintain the caches for us to collect on our too brief tour of the north.
Now its fully dark time so will be interesting to see how long we last as the previous night we only got 1.5hours sleep
Thanks for the placement

I had been out exploring the Karikari Peninsula today - a lovely and sunny Easter Sunday.
Came back to Mangonui and there was still enough daylight to find a couple more caches. A lovely view from here - I hadn't been down this street before. TFTC.

This was the sixth find on our Northern Holiday. We were in town for dinner and had some time to kill and also wanted to see a bit of the town on the historic walk. After grabbing a nearby cache we headed up the hill to this lovely old church. The hint left but a few places to look and the cache was soon in hand. Found with h.i.pirate. Thanks for the cache!
It didn't take too long. Well hidden with a great clue. No muggles in sight so didn't look too weird fumbling.

You could be forgiven for thinking we are still stalking you Riser5! But we were just surprised to find one of your caches here, seems so far away from the others we found this morning.
But what a lovely spot and two, love this place and to think this will be my last find for 2014. Great views deserve a smiley but also for the unique hide here and not quite as small as some of you others.
Geocaching has been a great tool now for our travels as I reflect back on the last year. Such a joy to have found some places we would have never gone to, and this is a prime example, so a fav from me for all those reasons and more.
Thanks for this cache and we hope you have a fantastic 2015 and your cache hides and finds are just wonderful.
To end the year!

After settling into our B&B in this lovely part of the country, we went on a quick geoexpedition before buying our NYE feast at the famous Fish Shop.
This one is to be our last find of 2014, and a very worthy one it was!
To cut a long story short, I used to travel these parts every Sunday in another life, delivering Sunday newspapers. The road used to go along the waterfront. And it was these memories which has brought me back to the East Coast, along with geofriend megawat60.
What I didnt know though, was the wonderful view further up the hill, along with this lovely church which would have so many tales to tell of early settlers and a worshiping community.
Many thanks for another great cache Riser5, this one will be remembered fondly and certainly deserves a fave from me too!

Quick evening hunt. Looks like it has been a busy day in Mangonui for geocahing today with 2 other hunters logging this cache today.
Thanks to the hint an easy find at a very nice place with a stunning view. Had to wait a bit due to a young muggle resting next to the bench nearby - heaven knows why he didn't want to use the bench to lie on to take a nap.
Quick find while out with Toastice. Thanks!

Out with GraciesGPSfun. Walked up the stairs as this was supposed to be our walking day. Instead we did minor exercise, major caching lol. Great view from the church. Easy find thanks to the clue. TFTC
Had tried this one earlier in the day and had failed - partly due to muggles.
Determined not to be beaten, we returned to the scene of the crime. One member of the team was determined enough to persevere for long enough to secure what should have been an easy find! We made too much hard work of this one!!!

Up in the far north for the weekend but the cyclone had me heading back to Auckland Saturday morning

4.45pm. Beautiful day makes for a spectacular view of Mangonui harbour up here. Cache quickly located by Mrs JF. The old gravestones in the church yard are well worth inspection. The old stones mark seaman graves before a stone mason existed in the region.
