What a privilege to be able to visit this amazing historic site, and also be able to log a traditional find. Apart from actually getting here, this would have to be one of the easiest finds ever ... it's just that the getting here can be tricky! It was great to get a sense of earlier Antarctic life, and to realise it is still challenging for the heritage workers who look after the place over summer and run the post office and souvenir shop. We had a great trip on the MV Plancius and were not only able to visit this place but also explore a number of other natural and historic locations around the Antarctic Peninsula. Thanks kripau for the cache.

Stopped here on our voyage with Plancius. . Got to see baby penguin chicks that were just born 2 days earlier. Bought a map of Antartica and a compass at this stop.

A cache in Antarctica! How amazing! I don't have a lot of words for how awesome this was. Signed the cache, bought some stuff, took some pics, gazed at the penguins, spoke with the young women at the base, learned some history...all in the space of a couple of hours. Thank you for having this cache here for us to log!
I spoke with one of the ladies about geocaching in general and suggested that MAYBE when they leave in March, they leave the cache out in the area with the post office box. That way when a ship comes in after they lave in March, a geocacher can still log it. Maybe. Smile
Definitely a favorite for us!

YAAAAY! My first traditional find in Antarctica!

I am on a cruise with MS Midnatsol and this became our very last landing in Antarctica. I was afraid I would not get a traditional find in Antarctica at all, but luckily our ship stopped here. I left a geocoin and discovered two travel bugs.

I will upload a picture of the log as proof.

Greetings from Norway and thank you so much for the cache! Smile

How exciting to log a cache in Antartica! I have to pinch myself! Found the cache in Porto Williams, Chile and then discovered that there was actually a geocache in Port Lockroy, Antartica! Working along with the Expedition Team Leader on the Midnatsol and the four ladies who are stationed at Port Lockroy for the 4 spring/summer months, I was able to retrieve and sign the cache. This has to be a highlight and "favorite" of my journey. I also learned about the U.K. Heritage Trust and life on Port Lockroy. Thank you to the cache owner for placing the cache for adventurers like me to seek. I have attached a picture of the beautiful scenery of this magnificent continent that surrounds Port Lockroy.

Today our Road Scholar group stopped here and I asked about the cache. The lady there said I was the first to ask for it this season. Saw a TB, which i will move on. How exciting to find a cache in Antarctica! We are having a marvelous time in this beautiful place. Thanks for putting this cache here for us. Another bonus we learned about Port Lockroy's history too.

Passed through on the MV Plancius and stopped here. Unfortunately the base was closed and surrounded by critters so we couldn't even get near it. Oh well, next time.

**Today, March 7, Port Lockroy has closed again.**
The geocache overthere has been found 21 times!

The post office staff has served everyone in a perfect way. Don't hesitate to have a look in the picture gallery: https://www.geocaching.com/seek/gallery.aspx?guid=d41256ae-6c4b-436e-9d35-d8db39bbe023

After a cold cold winter we are looking foreward to next season.

A big thanks to the all team in Port Lockroy

Visited Port Lockroy whilst cruising on MS Expedition but the Post Office had just closed, what a shame! Had a great time though, and an interesting look around the Museum. A fantastic place to visit.

T4DC Ananasbirne

Found during a diving holiday in Antarctica! Thanks for the cache!

A nice find on our incredible trip to the Antarctic Circle. This might rank right behind the humpback whales within 10 metres of our tiny zodiac Smile
Took a TB that looked cold and left another TB and a Canadian pin. TFTC

Found it with Bondo 46. Furthest south cache for me. Now have caches on all continents except Australia. (Haven't been there since I started geocaching.)

What a great day for caching from the MV Fram! My second traditional cache in Antarctica, and both on the same day! Earlier we visited Vernadsky Station and I was able to log the cache there too.
Thanks so much to the people at Port Lockroy who maintain this little treasure.
We had a wonderful visit to this interesting place.

I love coming to PL - the crew there are so enthusiastic and friendly, it's really a treat. Dropped off two TBs that I've had for far too long - happy travels!
