Had a look around but no luck for us today

On my way to Nelson yet again. The views down the bank from GZ are quite neat!

16-Aug-23
Took a moment then had it in my hands, nice views down to the river. Thanks for the placement Smile

13-Jan-23
The sandflies find me faster than I find the cache, and the cache was a quick find! Needed a stretch on the way to Nelson. Thanks for the cache.

25-Nov-22
Sorry for the late log. I'd forgotten to get the cache list off the old GPS after semi-retiring it. This had been a bit of a nemesis, after stopping a couple of times to look, and passing by quite a few times as well, when it wasn't possible to get to. So nice to finally be able to tick it off. Thanks.

01-Oct-22
Magnetic container had a bit of water but log all good. Lots of road works here. The owner came and we had a chat. The road is completed for the moment but river is being diverted so still work to be done. TFTC.

01-Jul-22
It would appear this one was resurrected as it was a quick find tonight with good co-ords. Near 2 years ago when I DNFd this one there was a small worksite building here and no armco barriers. How this cache survived is absolutely impressive. Thanks bumandworker.

06-Jun-22
#11,160. We were heading back to Nelson after a long weekend in Christchurch. Stopped to pick up this one now that its been replaced. Nice quick park and grab. Signed the logbook and rehid the cache where found. Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

With the DNF's piling up on this cache, we weren't sure if we could find it. Actually it took all of 5 mins or less. Yes, the area has changed and there are new barriers erected etc but the cache was where the CO had put it, although the item he put it in was not quite where it started off. Anyway, cache found, log book and bag sodden, so these were replaced and CO was told where we rehid the cache - not where found as that is being removed - but in the same type of place that he put it which is within 4-5m of original gz. tftc

This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.

22-Apr-22
Not quite 2 years since my last attempt and needs maintenance log. Time to let it go I think.

05-Aug-20
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

04-Aug-20
No cache here or if it is then it’s under the new road works here as GZ is a construction zone. Very likely it’s gone so the CO might wanna check.

11-Jul-20
Visiting the South Island as the grown up kids are on Uni holidays. Heading up to Nelson today collecting some caches on the way. Wonderful sunny day although cold and frosty to start with. Sadly this was a DNF for us today - there was major roadworks taking place and the where the gps led us looked to have changed recently.

08-Mar-20
**A DNF on our February - March tour around the South Island. Logging back home in Auckland in Lockdown isolation**

Travelling today from Hanmer Springs to St Arnaud finding a few caches along the way. We pulled in here and wondered whether we would have any luck. There had been some very recent changes. Space has been cleared for a transportable Office building and the barrier has been demolished. We certainly could not find any cache in the location that the GPS was pointing us at. May need to check it out after lockdown.

01-Mar-20
Found while returning home to Blenheim after a weekend in Hanmer. Beaut day today for a few stops. TFT Caches on this route today.

24-Feb-20
Parked and then headed to where we thought cache title would take us - decided that it didn't look likewhere a cache would be so rechecked the gps - oh over there that makes way more sense - a quick find and sign - thanks for the cache Smile

24-Feb-20
Assumption took me to the obvious but it was bugging me not a place the CO would place. Checked the gps and moved to GZ to make a quick find Smile. Much better place Smile. Thanks for the cache.

Day 5 and last day of Nosynel's and my geotrip through the Molesworth and back through the Lewis. Nice to have my son's Toyota Hilux for this adventure. Today we are heading to Christchurch after staying the night in St Arnaud. Thanks for the cache.

18-Jan-19
The big Molesworth circuit is in progress. Today is day four of Jude _E and my geotour, our final day. Thanks to her kind son we have use of a Toyota Hilux, extremely helpful indeed. We stayed a night at St Arnaud last night.
There was no real goal for today apart from to get back in one piece and find some geocaches.

Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

If you can't make Aussie. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland. I will keep you posted in my logs.
Thanks for hiding this geocache.

This cache fills my 2nd last hole on the S41 Latitude quest, so I was really pleased to find it. The container was wet & in the open; log slightly damp.
I sealed the log in 2 new plastic bags.
**there is a major discrepancy between the log in the cache and on-line loggings; I searched for a duplicate cache but couldn't find one.
Thanks for this one, B&W. Have emailed re the log discrepancy.

Making our way home from Hawarden with my Mum and Dad. They are more willing to stop and wait for me than my Husband is on most trips. A very chilly day, 6 degrees, but still sunny. I had an idea where it might be, it was pushed quite far back, I put it back not so far in. TFTC

16-Mar-17
Definitely a park and grab - parked, then grabbed it in the first place I put my hand. Signed log, TFTC

We had thought that driving all day with only a few stops would be boring, but it wasn't. We found some nice caches while making our way from Hanmer Springs to Picton, and the landscapes were absolutely stunning. The high mountains and the wide valleys, the rivers and the changing skies, sometimes cloudy sometimes blue. The light has a different quality here, it was like seeing everything in 3D.

Certainly an interesting gate. TFTC!

25-Jan-17
We liked the pirate sign on the gate and soon reached in to find the cache. T F T C b&w
Day 3 of our mini-holiday and time to head back over the (Lewis Pass) hill. On the way we stopped off at a few, but not all, geocaches to help break up the journey, and also convert a few greenies into yellow smiley faces. Laetitia seemed bitten by the caching bug and accompanied me for most of the finds all the way home, even finding a few before me!
We have a foreign exchange person over from New Caledonia for this week, and the school holidays are still on so it's only reasonable to show our visitor, Laetitia, some of the sights and sites around our back-yard, and beyond. So it was decided that we would stay in the work 'bach' at Hanmer Springs for a couple of nights and recent road closures etc meant that the trip from Murchison to Hanmer along the alternate route would take us past some previously untraveled roads and therefore afford us even more scenic experiences, and a few caches of course.

24-Jan-17
We found this cache on our drive from Christchurch to Picton after 2 weeks exploring the South Island with our families. This was our opportunity to get a cache in this region before we head back ip to the north island. Thanks for hiding!

After some planning Shannonp1 and I got sorted for a mission into areas we hadn't been. Up to Hanmer through the Molesworth to Blenheim, down the Wairau valley to St Arnaud down the Shannandoa to Murchison and then home via the Lewis. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners especially Bum and Worker and sorry for the cut and paste.

So a few weeks in the planning phase, me and Surveybase finally got out and about for a mission. Through Hanmer, up the Molesworth to Blenheim, across through St Arnaud, Murchison and then home. 209 caches for the weekend and a pretty high success rate. Thanks to all the cache owners and sorry for the cut and paste. Cheers.

We are on route from Riwaka to Hanmer Springs to meet my sister and her husband. We made a pact to not do too much caching and just pick up a few. This is one of the few. Thanks bum&worker for the cache.

Out and about this weekend a bite of a road trip to the cost and CHCH to see friends and family. All and all a good weekend out. And with so many caches to chose from and not enuf time to get them all ( good excuse to go back for more) sorry about the cut and paste. But thank you to all those that have put caches out there for all to find. TFTC. Out to play for the weekend with the destination of Nelson. Caching crew on board were Karma Reprint, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers, logged as PKTT for this trip. Gosh did we have fun looking for caches, most of which we found, in this very beautiful part of our country.
A quick find at a hidden ???. Nice hide.
Thanks bumandworker for placing the cache.

14-Nov-14
On a big mission up to Nelson over Show Weekend with Purdiepurdie, Karma Reprint and Team_Gaters we signed our cache finds as PKTT the 'power packet' but we called ourselves the 'G4'. We headed off on Friday morning at 4.30am and made our way to Nelson today. We drove heaps, laughed heaps, found heaps of caches and poke our noses here and there. It was a great day we didn't stop until about 9.30pm for a cuppa and relax and getting ready to do it all again tomorrow!
Quick find and the cache was nicely hidden.

Thanks for the cache.

For the sake of sanity Wink we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!

We took the Lewis Pass route on the way up, and encountered all kinds of silly weather, including snow and hail. We did consider turning around and following the highway, but it ended up being ok – we just had to drop a few caches as there was no way of getting there in the knee high snow…

We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.

Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!

So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!

Consec caching day # 699

The gate may be obscured from the road, but the sign on it is very clear when you are near. No problms with a cache as a park and grab on the way south. SoBad parked - and also grabbed as Mrs was saying 'I think it might be here'.
Thanks.

Off to Nelson for the weekend and we didnt leave til after 4pm but I still wanted to take the slightly longer route as there had been more caches placed since we last came through this way. This was a nice quick park and grab. We found a nice wee spot that you couldve put it if you wanted to be sneaky, but we'll take the nice quick P&G when were in a rush to make check-in. Thanks for the cache Smile
