Im at Aroha Island. The owner queried what I was doing here and requested me to sign the attendance book. He did not know what Geocaching was and requested this to be removed. So after finding it and signing it I have removed it.
Lots of lovely ripe plumbs so I gathered a bag.YUM..
Day 10, Saturday January - Its Pahia, Waitagi, Aroha Island, Taronui Bay then back to Keirkeri to pick up Zara. Headed to Whangarei stopping off for the LAB at Te RuaPekaPeka on the way. Parked up just north of Kamo for the night. Another big day so lets get on the road!
Zara, Toby, Lenny and I are on our North Island expidition for a couple of weeks. Got The Seagnoid along for the first 4 days, heading to the Auckland Mega. PWGTs and TMGTs are on the radar for this trip. Lots of driving on gravel roads and visited lots of amazing places on our 6000km road trip snagging 200+ caches along the way. Visiting Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Gisborne and White Rock along our journey. Another awesome trip. Thanks to all CO's.

Hi. Owner requested this be removed as he has not given permission for placement. Pleace archive as I have removed it. Cheers. More later.
We stayed two nights on the island. Our son saw a kiwi the first night. There is only a old kiwi couple living here. The female is about 40 years old and doesn't lay eggs anymore. Easy find, only a broken lid, zipbag and logbook. Thanks for placing and maintening this cache. We had a lovely stay here.
Beautiful place and so peaceful apart from the sekatas. A quick find. TFTC
I’ve never been here, so nice. I had to hunt a little but soon had the cache. Thanks
Container needs looking at. Middle child found again. Exercise caution here but smells great.
Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!
TFTC
*Only container lid and logsheet, needs a replacement box.*

Camping here tonight with the hope of seeing kiwi. Easy find but full of water again as the lid is cracked. We have a container of the same size in the van, so have swapped it over. It's not particularly robust but hopefully will stay dry longer.

TFTC... have always wanted to explore this area. Had the opportunity today and brought a van load of our tangata whaiora to discover.
Cache was an easy find for while geosenses were on board regardless of GPS off about 9m. Bee-lined straight to it
Cache was wet inside but dried as much as I could. Swapped one of our homemade key rings for a wooden Christmas decoration.
Great walk around the island and so grateful to have a safe spot for our kiwi. Eco centre is wonderful and lovely staff

Camped here two nights.
Saw a kiwi the first night, didn’t seem bothered by us in the least, just kept foraging.
Bees were busy but no problem.
Staff here are friendly and everything is so well maintained. Terrific spot to camp, cache and see birds.

Kurz vor der Dunkelheit noch schnell ins Logbuch eingetragen. Keine drei Stunden später haben wir den männlichen Kiwi für ca 10 Minuten beobachten dürfen. T4TC from Germany
Northland Day 3: Today’s journey brought us from the beaches of Doubtless Bay, down through the East Coast Bays to Kerikeri, by the Bay of Islands. Today’s highlights were primarily sweeping views of the harbours and bays of the East Coast of Northland, and while it did threaten to rain, the storm never did arrive to where we were and we had lots and lots of sunshine. Good and productive day overall!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
After checking in to the accommodation, we headed out to Kerikeri for dinner. Picked up a few caches along the way. Nice place to learn about the kiwis, but since it was near closing time, I made a beeline to the cache first. Coordinates are off, but the cache was found with the hint. TFTC!

First time on that island, thanks to geocaching
I stumbled a bit around , enjoying the oranges and the humming of the bees until I found the cache
Lid is broken and the cache full of water, dried and cleaned it as good as possible

How lucky we are to have this place on our doorstep. I remember coming here as a girl guide when it was owned by Mr. Little
We stayed here last night in hope of spotting some kiwis. We set of close after sunset and got really lucky to actually see kiwis. This morning on our way out we quickly found this one and signed the logbook. TFTC
Wonderful campsite here! I even got to see a Kiwi in the night, but you have to be very patient

Unfortunately we could not locate the cache. However, we did manage to spot kiwis on three of the four nights that we stayed here.
We spent the day in and around KeriKeri doing a bit of caching and eating, drinking and exploring nature.
what a lovely spot. The bees were so docile too. I could have nicked their honey no problem today!
Cache in great condition
Grabbed a tb from here

We stayed one night on the campground next to the cache. In the evening we went to see the beautiful rainbow falls and of course we tried to spot kiwis after dusk but we had no luck. In the morning right befor leaving we went for this cache and found it without problems. The bees were activ but not a problem at all.
Thank you very much for this nice cache!

Staying the night at the camp ground. My mother who's middle name was Aroha used to stay here in the lodge with friends from the Forest and Bird. I can't remember whether she saw kiwis but we were not lucky so finding the cache was a small compensation.
After we visted Aroah Island, we found this cache, together with volcanodancers very quickly.

We are in Kerikeri today to support one of our daughters who is walking the Te Araroa trail. While they walk from Kerikeri to Paihia we are doing a bit of caching.
We made a brief visit to this interesting location this morning - just long enough to find the cache. Thanks.

Up here for a couple of days for technical training with a new territory manager (makes a change from being in Whangarei) so a chance to grab a few caches in the area.
Got up here late yesterday afternoon/early evening so only had a chance for a couple of caches before I was all done in.
The temperatures here are a lot warmer than the the Waikato.
Love caching in the morning, and an early start it is as have to head back to Whangarei this afternoon. Love the idea of this reserve, shame that it was still dark
Thanks for the cache, thanks for the placement

Had a nice short walk on the island and found the cache quickly with The-Shredder. TFTC Skyryser
Unfortunately we could not stay the night at this lovely island. Had a nice short walk on the island and found the cache quickly with Skyryser. But there were a lot of bees. TFTC The-Shredder
We were warmly greeted at the visitors centre by a family member from our little school in Okaihau. The kids enjoyed looking around the centre, doing the puzzles, and playing with the puppet. I thought the stuffed animals were interesting. We went for a walk around the island and easily found the cache. We'll be back for a school camp at the end of the month. I'm looking forward to the evening kiwi walk. TFTC
TFTC
The cache presented itsself as i entered the gz. Great spot. Out with my muggle mates. TFTC. Picked up travel bug frog.
It would have been great to find a kiwi, and unfortunately we didn't, but we found the cache though.
At first we were a bit afraid of the bees, but after gaining some confidence they didn't bother us at all.
Thanks for the cache.

We visited this cache during our trip through out New Zealand!
With our rental car, we explored the north island for 12 days.
NZ is a beautiful country and we really enjoyed our time here.
We hope to return one day and explore a little bit more!
Day 9 - Pahia to Awanui
After two rainy days, today the weather was finally sunny, and that was great, this way we were able to enjoy the beauty of this area. We had a great time today and found a bunch of caches!

We spent one day and night at Aroha Island. What a nice place and campsite. The staff is absolutely friendly and we get good recommendations for seeing Kiwis.
Greetings from Ottawa Ontario. Celebrating my 8000th find with this cache. Thank you!

Wonderful area. I found this one early in the morning before the rest of my camper family arose. GZ was off a bit, but was able to use Geosences. Thanks.

Lovely way to spend Labour weekend, kids enjoyed climbing big tree down at the beach afterwards.
#928 Popped in on the way past to get this cache- both of us hadn't been out here for years so it was lovely to be back. Great camping facilities here and a perfect spot for some R and R. Cache found without too much hassle. Thanks for the placement and letting others know of this great place.
I'm on my way up north to set a challenge but also to see if I can complete it as well. Today and the next two are forecasted fine so here goes.
Had a talk with the manager there and if there are cachers that want to camp there in their caravans, campervans, tents etc. They are prepared to do a deal so that you can park there free.
Cheers for the cache.

Awesome spot to visit! Introduced the warden to geocaching and enjoyed a group hunt / find. Cache in good order. Thanks!

I kept on going around it. .i couldn't give up knowing i was so close. Finally got it when driver was getting impatient:-)
Buzzed by with Yeetrees, bees were far too busy to observe what we were up to and we were way too early for the kiwis, thanks for the placement.
How fitting to find a bee in the box... We've placed a piece of fruit too. Easy find!
Out enjoying this beautiful place this afternoon. Just wonderful as have always wanted to visit and never had time. So today after a yummy lunch in Kerikeri with Hokiangler we made a quick joint FTF . Had a wee swim and just enjoyed the peace. All the bee's were home today, but not a worry at all.
