We had not intended to visit Gulgong but a broken down car meant this is where we ended up. All fixed, we stopped to look for this one. It is gone, found pencil and a ladybug eraser in the bowels of the tree.
DNF at 2:22 PM. We have had a bad run of DNF's today. There was a nice tree with a few good hidey holes, but couldn't find anything in them.
An easy find at 0737 with JetFuselage. Nice little town, slept well at the nearby motel on our way to QLD. TFTC
Green and refreshing spot to rest a while. Cache well hidden in a logical spot. Tftc
A mini milestone for me #50! A quick find but I am surprised it hasn't been muggled. Beautiful trees. A big shout out to Godzilla! for introducing me to geocaching...or should I say, cursing me with this obsession! TFTC
Amazing that it has survived! There was nothing in it except for the log, so we left a few things for kids. TFTC.
A lovely lush green park and we know why . . . . . it had just been watered. The cache told us that! Our last cache in Gulgong as we continue on to Tamworth. TFTC FarmerFrentzen.
We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.
We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.
Day 1
We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.
Day 2
We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.
Day 3
We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.
Day 4
We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.
We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.
Thanks

#3427- We had been to Gulgong for dinner and were heading back to the camping ground to set up when bikerbuddy mentioned this one. How bold is that? I cant believe it survives there- a favourite for blocking out the competition cache location. Thanks
#2784th - Quick find in a muggle area.
All part of the fun and challenges on our AroundOz bicycle tour via the highest peak in each State and mainland Territory.

This is a really nice park so we stopped for a picnic lunch while signing the log. A gardener was mowing while we here and very kindly worked on the other side of the park to let us dine in relative quiet. Overall it was a really nice place to take a break.

What a wonderful park, lush and green.
Very hot after the air con in the geo mobile but decided to enjoy a late lunch on a park table under an amazing tree that afforded fantastic coolness and shade. Worker mowing the manicured lawns kindly took off to the other side of the park to mow while we brought out the picnic
Cache close, we found quickly and replaced, all in good order.

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there FarmerFrentzen. We found your cache "The Lights of Cobb and Co." at 8:27:00 AM today. This cache makes our find count 11839.
[Blue]
Today, instead of traveling the TRLT trail. We started the day off from Gulgong Showground and traveled down Henry Lawson Drive to Mudgee (for some groceries) and back to Gulgong via a different road. We ended up logging 16 caches (and DNFing 0)
Please excuse our boilerplate logs. It's not really a good excuse, but we find it really difficult to craft individual logs after attempting so many similar caches in a day.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Dropped Trackable: "Arted123's Travel Racer Bug I Be!".
Thanks for the hunt,
Regards
Ian & Penny.[font=Verdana]

Quite a warm day for us at Gulgong but the woman at the museum said it was so nice to have this sort of weather. Found because it looked like the most likely spot, even though the GPS pointed some metres away.

Quick easy find on our way from Wello to Mudgee. Explored this lovely little town and found the cache. Tftc
Sorry for the tardy log entry. We found this on our way home from Baradine and the 150th celebrations.
It turned out to be an eventful cache. The Moo half of Moo&Woo went wandering around in the park and then "whack"....hit in the head by a very protective magpie. From that moment on she was firmly by my side scanning the trees while I signed the log.

Today was the day to complete my biggest cache run to date. From Mudgee to Gulgong and then follow The Road Less Traveled series and the surrounding caches. I started nice and early at 7:30am, and didn't finish until 11 at night! On the way I saw plenty of lizards, the first snake of the season and smelt many rotting road kill during the day, and at night I had the live kangaroos, wombats, possums and probably all the flying insects banging into my head when I had the torch on.
Over all the experience was worth it and great big thank you to the CO's who put all of the caches out there.

Found on a cacheing weekend up from Newcastle with Deheaps. What a great park. Lovely lunch spot. SL. TFTC
With Megron62 and our beautiful puppies. Beautifully maintained cache. What a glorious area to visit. SL TFTC.
Tftc, had to wait 4 passing muggles to pass, dragging their muggle parents in a very muggle direction towards somewhere else. I love when they go somewhere else.
Find No: 4678. Visiting from Newcastle, staying for the weekend in Mudgee, enjoying immensely the variety of hides in the district, travelled almost 200km today, found 60 and ran into J+J.au, thanks for the cache FarmerFrentzen!!
Beauitful day enjoyed drive from Dubbo on the way to home, via stop some caches on highway...
Wow awesome view small town, also visit Herny Lawson history museum, interested about him....

Nice park! One muggle was highly suspicious of us, though, and spied on us from behind a tree as we searched for it. Be careful!
Returned after not being able to find it a year ago expecting a difficult challenge but found easily. TFTC.
Nice easy find in a lovely park
So much history in this area

Heading south on our way home from Coffs Harbour. What a great town and amazingly kept park, a pleasure to visit and enjoy it ... TFTC
Found on journey away from the Mega. We are in Gulgong for a couple of days and this series is on our list of things to do. I would have thought I knew maybe one or two of his stories but it seems I may have known a couple more. Certainly not all of them though.

Several guns around this park, but FarmerFrentzen, our new hero, did the gallant thing & placed a small container instead. Thank you, if only there were more cacher owners with your principles out there!
Seriously, we really appreciated this one, and enjoyed the entire Henry Lawson series.
Thanks

In the area for a couple days poking around and trying to get at least one cache around each town we stop and investigate (today was Gulgong). For time purposes, this cache was it. A beautiful little park to relax in. Love the old trees. We even came back afterwards to have our lunch here before heading off again. Cache found in good condition. Thanks for this one FarmerFrentzen.
It was only a few days ago that Toriaz and I were talking about the many caches placed on military guns in parks around the country. They're usually an evil little nano tucked away somewhere without a hint, and you have to do contortions in a public place of the most ridiculous kinds in order to search. It was a while ago that we decided to start driving past these caches.
Then, when we were talking about it the other day we had an idea, the kind that involves evil plans and taking over the world - that kind of thing. We realised that if we placed an easy to find Sistema within 160 metres of any gun we find that wasn't already employed for the purposes of tormenting geocachers, we could put a halt to this inhumane practice.
So it was a pleasant surprise to see that FarmerFrentzen may have been thinking along similar lines. The Sistema was an easy find in a neat little park with a small gun not far away. Even more interesting, the gun has been placed in a cage. The official story is probably that it is there to prevent vandalism. But I would like to think there is also an enlightened local council member who also sees the need the check the rampant spread of geocaches on guns.
Thankyou FarmerFrentzen for your Henry Lawson caches, which we enjoyed along the highway, and for this forward thinking placement in Gulgong. I think it deserves a favourite!

Heading back to Sydney after our post mega event road trip & we'd planned to camp somewhere around here for our final night. As it was, it was getting pretty late so we decided to treat ourselves to a motel in Mudgee. But first we stopped here to quickly grab this cache.
Coincidentally, as we pulled up, Mrs H received a confirmation email for the online booking and it turned out the motel was in Gulgong not Mudgee, literally only 10 metres away from where we parked! A few minutes later we were checked in & it was off to the local Indian for dinner! Yum
TFTC! Cheers,
The Hancock Clan

Not sure if there are any clues to this one in Henry Lawson's writing, but an easy one non-the-less if you ignore the coordinates and go to the nearest tall thing.
[Blue]# 11464[/Blue] Found on our 2015 Winter escape trip on the way to the Qld Mega.
Another perfect Autumn day for caching along the road to Coonabarabran.
Not many muggles around and mostly quick finds.
Had some dejavu here as I remembered a cache nearby from last trip.
Picked up the TB to take it further north to Qld.
Thanks for the cache FarmerFrentzen,

Staying at Mudgee and today on a round trip. Nice town but at 4 pm the geowife was not happy as she could not find a coffee shop but I found this cache. Left a trackable.

Day 76 of my trip to Brisbane.
Fourth day on the road, destination Mudgee. I'm having a shortish driving day, to see what I can see, do some caches as I go, and get in some walking with the GeoSchnauzers. It turned out to quite an interesting day, with an earthcache I hadn't noticed collecting our interest for over an hour, and a nice drive in th countryside to boot. There was some great scenery in places. I'm a bit late with the logging, I'm home now, and have five days of caching to log. Have I made 1000 caches on the trip? Today's ten gets me to 935.
No 9 of 10 today. Thanks, FarmerFrentzen. Good one, mate. I've found a few of yours in Canberra. We enjoyed the park, and the cache.
