Change of weekend plans, came to stay at the campsite in Athenree instead of an overnight hike in the hills. Arrived mid-afternoon and decided to come and see the beach at Bowentown, and grab a couple of caches we haven't found yet while we're at it.
Sveppi took one for the team on this one, crawling into the tight space, finding the hole, but the cache is not there...

Pooh. Nice walk and great views but we couldn’t find it despite an extensive view of the boulder and cave.
A hot walk over to shelly beach with a detour to this cache. Found the right place and got covered in dirt all over my legs arms and shirt and after about 30 minutes had to give up. I think it has gone.
After some quality geocaching the day before and a good night rest today day was all about the numbers. I started down in Bowentown and worked my way back home to Auckland. Found GZ easy but upon opening the lid it rolled away. Puhh, I was able to collect the lid before it hid the water and replaced the geocache securely. TFTC
Cache is all safe and sound. Sign of the wedging rock though. TFTC. #691. Closing in on 700!
Its Been a while and now its time to catch up on all the logging that I've put off to a rainy day (while it may not be raining, where we were heading the roads are still closed hence sitting here doing this).
Back out on the road with HKCB looking to collect a few caches around Waihi along with two more Kayak caches that we were targeting for the day. AFter making a hole in the ones in Waihi it was time to work our way down to Bowentown followed by Athenree. As we have made several runs over here in the past it was an enjoyable trip along the coast cleaning up what we needed to. Thanks to all the CO's for the effort in keeping these caches going.
Thanks for the Cache, thanks for the Placement

Another Geocaching mission with Cats&Dragons, the goal for the day was to focus on the caches around the Waihi/Bowentown/Anthenree area including the cache across the bar on Matakana Island, and while we had the kayak with us a visit to a lonely beach was on the cards as well. The day was hugely successful and a lot of fun, so a big thanks to the CO's for all the placements.
A few fishermen were heading back up the hill as we headed down, and for what they were saying the fishing wasn't to hot this morning. The cache was found laying out in the open, it looks like it had rolled out from where it was hiding. I tucked it back in so hopefully it stays in place.

Tftc Thanks for putting such good hints, l found it easily. The walk back up from cache was not too hard either. This is a favourite for location. It is so quiet here after the noisy beach at Bowen town
Headed out for a walk after some late lunch. A very hot sunny afternoon but there were caches to be found and a new area to explore. We were staying at the campground so took an alternative track up to the main trail intersection. It was steep and it was hot and i was glad to locate the junction down towards Yellow Point just to get some shade.
Once i located the boulder, i knew i was at GZ and a quick read of the hint in its entirety, i had the cache in hand. An awesome spot here, and a stunning view of the harbour entrance and across to Matakana Island. Signed log and dropped a TB for the next lot of finders. Thanks for showing me this location and TFTC!

The howling wind eased off overnight. When for a pre breakfast walk and enjoyed the views. Hmmm, would only be an ~800m swim to your t5 cache, and the water looks calm enough. But maybe not
Left a smiley stress ball I made, so someone can de-stress back at work and remember their relaxing time here.
We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
After clearing the other hill, it was time to tackle this one. Not as bas as I thought, quite nice with a little bit of rain to cool me down. Very slippery underfoot though.
Managed to find the correct paths and tracks to get here. A quick find after finding the boulder.
Awesome area that I have never been to before. Geocaching is great for getting people to places they've never been before.
Thanks stretch.kerr for the cache. All in good condition here.

What a great fishing spot but quite popular today. We took an extra left turn which brought us to another great fishing spot. Not sure anyone was having any luck though. Thanks for bringing us here
Yes got it nice cache with an awesome vista of Matakana and an ebbing tide...sat and admired the view for a while..then it was on up thanks for a wonderful cache most enjoyable
A nice walk up and over the hill collecting a couple of caches, once at GZ this was a nice quick find, although Mr 5 had a bit of an accident placing back the cache as he dropped a rock on his leg Cool little rock formation and glad we didn't have to scramble all the way to the beach, TFTC!
Thanks for getting us out to yellow point. Been raining today so was a bit slippery under foot. We took our rods with us, caught a fish for tea and released a seagull. Thanks foe awesome cache hide.
Greetings from Wellington. Last walk of the holiday with the wife and dog before heading back home and back to work . Cache was a straight forward find - after I read the description properly. Bit of scramble to get all the way down to water (not required to get the cache). The dog definitely had the advantage - four paw drive! TFTC.
Staying with friends, in Bowentown, over the new year period.....a long way from our usual caching ground of Tauranga!!! We were exploring the hillside on the Anzac cove side and after picking up the cache a little bit further around the coast we (the kids) decided that the best way to go would be along the rocks and circumnavigate the headland. We got as far as the path down from Yellow point as the rains came as so we decided to cut our journey short and head up hill at this point. Poppymjr and I quickly found the cache and signed the log before catching the rest of the party up to walk home for morning tea. An adventure that will linger in their memories for some period of time, I imagine.
TFTC and a FP for the memories it will create to just get to the cache!

Yay, first one since xmas, beautiful day and a fab place for a cache. A fave from me.
We wanted to camp at the camping area nearby. Unfortunately at the moment it is not allowed. But nevertheless we wanted to walk a bit although it was raining. Thank God we did it. The Cache location is superb. Nice little bay.
This was on my must do list today as part of my geo license challenge so I was happy to make the find on a lovely sunny day in paradise.

lol - walked up to the top twice for this one - missed the trailhead first time
second time we went past the cach and ended up down the very steep path at the beach. Don't go all the way down lol - but we did come across 3 baby seals enjoying the afternoon sun so wasn't too bad
the cach itself was exactly as per the GPS and the clues
Thanks for a great Cach

After being cooped up inside yesterday due to the bad weather, we decided a drive out to Bowentown sounded like a good idea. Although damp, the track wasn't too slippery. The cache is in an ideal situation - dry and easy to access. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk out to Yellow Point - thank you . (+Fav)
It was now time to walk up a little hill after a 5 km stretch (no pun intended - yeah right, Simon) along the flat. Willbuild came along for the exercise.
The boulder was found down from the GZ and after signing the log it was put back in place.
Cheers for the cache.

An early afternoon cache assault on the Bowentown and Athenree areas. Gap (of Fap and Gap) and I hope to tidy the geomap a little more...
The track was quite greasy in places after recent wet weather. However, the views of the harbour were great. A quick find here... TFTC.

1.45pm - Air a bit crisp and track very slippery, just watched step as we got closer to GZ, didn't want to slip over edge. Good co ords and hint which made an easy find. SLTFTC
What a beautiful spot! But I had to come twice, there is no pen in this huge container. Bring your own pen ☺ TFTC
Very pleasant day at Anzac bay, including some caches, found quite easily, didn't need the hint.TFTC
577 Have fished off this point many a time over Christmas holidays. Haven't been here for 6 years so will have to come back soon for a fish.
Out and about early to get some finds while most of the family slept however I did manage to dray the 13 year old with me with the view it was good training. The first find before breakfast. TFTC.
Despite a dire weather forecast, Bowentown really turned on the weather for us and we had a great walk. Lots of people around enjoying it, but no one where we wanted to be - great place for a cache!
Easy find. All good. TFTC

On tour around the eastern Coromandel Due to rain the clay track was a test wearing jandals
Beautiful area. The baby shrek toy was popular, sadly we had to return it to the cache as we didn't have any swappables. BYO pen. Tftc
Interesting path down to the rocks. I didn't know this fishing spot existed. looks good I may bring the rods next time. Got in and out with clean hands and knees. TFTC
Needed a good walk - so decided to do couple new caches at Waihi Beach. Love this area and enjoyed the walk to the cache - Excellent directions and very interesting rock. Took the long way back down and passed over the top to enjoy the great views. TFTC
Found after a brisk walk with my niece along for the exercise. Distinctive GZ. Thank you.
Lovely to find this newish cache at Bowentown ....I see it was placed on my late dad's birthday 30th Dec !

Great view and nice walk. No pen still so took photo to validate. Thanks for nice cache.
Nice easy find, by mr junior scoobydoo. Although our pen decided not to work, and there wasnt one in the cache. Took photo as proof of find tho!
Great cache placement. Really enjoyed the walk, even with the light drizzle. Well worth a favourite point. TFTC.
thanx for another track to follow down here at Bowentown. Once found it was worrying to see it lying out in the open with just a logbook. Wanted to drop off a TB but not sure about the security of said cache
FTF. But cache may have been muggled. Found open with log book and tb close buy. Replaced logbook and took tb. Great spot TFTC
