Find number 14609 at 8:26:03am on Thursday the 14 November 2024Camping in Daylesford for the next week for a mini family camping reunion over the weekend, I've arrived early to have a look around and do some geocaching.Out for another early drive this morning looking around and grabbing some geocaches, mostly chasing Multi's for a calendar year challenge but grabbing a few others as well.Almost drove past this place heading for the springs but the cemetery looked so intreging I had to turn back. Amazing place.**Thanks for placing this cache lionjrb**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
On my way to a 3 day 4wdriving navigation event in Guildford so I decided to grab some along the way!
We had a fantastic time at the Vaughn Springs event grabbing a few different caches there and now it is time to smart heading over west picking up a few different caches along the way. We had a fantastic time at the Vaughn Springs event grabbing a few different caches there and now it is time to smart heading over west picking u p a few different caches along the way. CrackerGirl was with us for this part of the journey. This was the first in a nice interesting little area with quite a bit of history attached to it and as we expected there were no muggles to be seen, especially around gzHappily the cache was located in the second place we looked and our names have been added to the log. Many thanks for showing us this area that we would otherwise have driven straight passed.
I never seem to be able to walk in the right direction when the area is remotely bushlike. I'm getting closer, getting closer, getting further away? Finally got the right spot nd lig was signed. Thanks for placing
Found on the way home from the nearby event. Thanks lionjrb for your contribution to the game. *Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*
It amazes me how spread out a lot of these old cemeteries are. Oh and the separation by religious denominations.TFTC
Find # 14426Headed down Castlemaine way to have a look around the springs and grab some caches in the area. For a few years I've wanted to check out the Vaughan Springs ad this area south of Castlemaine. The whole area down here just seemed to be slower. No hustle or bustle at all, just the way I like it.Thankfully the rain held off, for most of the day, and the bush tracks I chose, for the out of the way caches, were 2wd friendly making for a great arvos caching.Made a quick grab here then had a short drive around. Such a unique Cemetery. And the door makes it weirder. Not something I ever expected to see in a place like this. TFTC lionjrb
Paying a visit to family today and enjoyed the surrounding nature before a short walk up the hill to get this cache. A very peaceful spot. TFTC
Here this morning to remember Gael and Danny with their friends from the local music community. Such a beautiful, peaceful morning. TFTC
Found It.................After working up in the Maryborough area yesterday we set off on a scenic journey to collect some caches that we had on our "to do" list for quite some time and pick up some that just happened to be in between. After getting the main target caches we turned homeward picking up a couple more caches as we go. After parking a short stroll soon had us at GZ and a quick search soon yielded the cache. So with the log signed and after looking around in the drizzling rain we continued our journey. Thanks lionjrb for the cache
TFTC. Love the caches at cemeteries as so peaceful and usually muggles free. The portal was unusual for a cemetery and almost expected the door to open and someone walk through. Is it the door to the afterlife?
So many butterflies out here today exploring on the motorbike, thanks for the cache!
Nice and peaceful find here. Surprising that we were not alone though. Thanks for the cache and hide
I have visited a few nice cemeteries today, all of them lovely peaceful places, not a bad place to end up once its all over.
What a great spot to visit. Thank you for bringing us here lionjrb. I don’t think I have ever seen art work in a cemetery before. I loved it!
What a hoot this one was. I was totally gobbled smacked with the door that led to no where but what a novel idea. And a cache here as well….. good day for me tftc
Kenbryl suggested that we come in here so we can see the portal. I’m so glad we did!! After a quick jog we soon had the cache found. Tftc
Great job, opened the door after finding it i think i jumped out of my skin
A family outing today with muggle husband, Neisha07, Boo09 & the geo-pup.
We headed to Vaughan Springs for a slide and picnic.
We very much appreciated being brought here. A tranquil little cemetery and interesting art. TFTC

Found with Crafty Dusty and the geopooch Pippa on our road trip from Sydney to Victoria. Love a cemetery cache-thank you!
Haven’t been out caching for a while so was nice to grab this as we passed by exploring the area. TFTC.
Walking around cemeteries isn't usually my thing, but these older ones are fascinating. TfTC!
I have seen photos of the artwork here and so opened the door to find ......... a rather large huntsman hanging in the middle! I shut the door to leave iit in peace. I then went off to find the cache.
Back logging, I am a shocker for it
Back when the 1st Iso restrictions were being eased, we needed to get out of the house, what better way then to do some caching. We didn't know where we were headed just followed some caches. Having been here numerous times before it was nice to dedicate some time to actually find our unfound caches.

A scenic place. Have been so busy hiding caches in this area that I haven't had time to find any. Rectified that today. How great is that mirror door tho? Thanks for the cache
TFTC. A beautiful winter sunny day. A great reason to go out for a short drive too find a couple of caches. We ventured out in the sun, nice to be out an about after three months of being restricted in where we could travel. Thanks for adding to our excursion.
Stopped to look at the Doorway before finding the cache. We had heard about this sometime ago. Very impressive.

Such a lonely and quite cemetery, bet this place doesn't see too much activity. Cache was found to be in good order. Thanks for the cache!
Staying with family in Guildford for a few nights prior to Christmas. Early morning caching is beautiful in this part of the world.
While enjoying a fabulous camping weekend at Clarke's Reserve with good geo-friends, Mrs Morris and Chook nicked off for a morning's caching (under the guise of a maintenance run) and this was one of the caches we found. Chook found this cemetery in the gully and the portal artwork so interesting, she brought Chunk back the next day. We added a new logsheet to the cache as the other two in there were full, and the cache is in good condition still. TFTC lionjrb and for bringing us here to this worthy location.
We camped near Franklinford to christen our new camper, do some cache maintenance and most importantly catch up with friends. Chook and I took the opportunity to leave the fellas organizing tea and we headed of to fix some caches and maybe find a couple.
An interesting cemetery - really enjoyed the art works.
Thanks for contributing to a great weekend lionjrb

What a interesting old country cemetery - we did enjoy seeing it. Found some lovely wildflowers about too. Good spot for a cache.

Every caching day seems to involve a cemetery visit or two
Alas this cemetery visit involved a muggle too !! [:o]
So I had to wander around for a while,
'til I could sneak over to GZ,
without being spied
An interesting, ramshackle cemetery [^]

I'm reluctant to say that I forgot to log this cache after I found it. I was out this way on the 23rd October and this one was on my list. When I arrived at the gates I thought that I had already found the cache but there was no smilie. After checking the log sheet, sure enough there I am.
So, I apologise for the late log. I didn't sign the sheet for the 2nd time.

After a big day' caching around the Castlemaine area today I was on my way home after visiting the Vaughan Springs and as I was going past this spot anyway why not find the cache here as well. A nice quick find to finish the day off in yet another fascinating country cemetery. Interesting Sculpture at the entrance as well, very thought provoking! Thx lionjrb for this cache and smilie.
What a fascinating Cemetery! We do love a Cemetery visit and especially if it contains a cache. We are making our way home to Wangaratta after a weekend in Creswick. We have never visited Vaughan before, so it is always surprising where Geocaching takes you. SL at 1.58pm Left: PT. We had a lengthy wander amongst the many different sections with their artistic headstones - some old and others very recent. Of course we had to check out the stairway. #6436 TFTC lionjrb
At first glance, this lovely old cemetery looked small, but, once through the gates, it covers quite a large area. Then add another dimension, and it really is out of this world! TFTC
Bendigo to Newstead
After having a lunch break &a rest we chose a n area not far from the grounds where we are stopping.
Our trip was country roads & forest trails.
Thanks for placing this cache lionjrb

Nice easy find . Have camped near this cache many times and have passed the cemetery often but today was the first day we have stopped and looked around. Nice easy cache find, thank you . The portal sculpture is absolutely amazing stepping through the door if the portal startled me a little
Found on a nice day out around the Daylesford area.
It was a perfect day for a bit of Geocaching too.
The portal sculpture is amazing, really worth stopping just for that if you don't geocache!
Thanks for the hide here it was great.

After camping at Vaughan for the night, we headed out with ilookgeo and picked up some caches as our journey took us to some interesting places today. There some interesting art features in this cemetery, with one being very surprising. The cache was easily found and the log soon had two more names added to the list. Thanks go to lionjrb for placing this cache.
It was a fun caching day today along with goingplaces2. We found some traditional caches, did some multi caches as well as some eathcaches. It was a good day and this was one of the caches that we found. TFTC.
A quick look and easy find TFTC. In an interesting cemetery. Inspectorrex and team.

On a well earned break in Castlemaine and I’m spending the time just touring the whole area, enjoying the sites and picking up caches as I go.
Backing tracking a bit to finish off a few remaining caches.
You need to cheek out the pearly gates and step through the door to check out what is on the other side.
Thanks lionjrb TFTC.

Found this little gem after visiting the giant slide at Vaughan Springs. We always love an old cemetery. Thanks for the cache.
A nice quick find with Kenare on a caching day in the area thanks for the hide. I loved this cemetery
"While you're here be sure to go to the Vaughan Cemetery to visit the pearly gates!" said one of the people we met at the Guildford Banjo Festival. "You won't have ever seen anything like it". Well he was right... I waved to my partner and said "See you on the other side", and then nearly had a heart attack. Yep - nothing like that anywhere, and we're super pleased we came to Guildford.
