So typical of numerous village settlements in NZ......in decline. Sad really, they have a wonderful heart, fantastic hard working self resourcing people building great memories for so many of us......declining. A great place for a cache....at the local hall where so many happy hours would have spent by so many homesteaders......thanks for getting us to stop here.
This ones been nagging at me for a while. We’ve stopped and hunted for it more than once and it’s alluded us. After some help from the CO and a quick day trip to Tongaporutu we were finally able to stop and find the cache. Was definitely a ‘doh’ moment when we found it! Lol. TFTC and for the help!
An interesting story behind this listing. Took a little while to find then we discovered it. Cache all good. Thanks for the hide.
This was the last cache on our journey from Tauranga to New Plymouth - appreciated the easy parking well off the busy highway; TFTC Cats&Dragons!
Cache was in good condition.

Fortunately there was noone about at GZ today as this proved to be a bit of a tricky one for us to find. We made an initial assumption about where it might be hidden that proved to be completely, woefully incorrect. That led us to reassess where things could be hidden at GZ and in the end a change of position and angle did the trick. Not much chance of doing this one without compromising my dignity, that is for sure. Thanks for the cache, all present and correct here.
A nice quick find, Cheers.
Next stage in the holiday, up to Hamilton. Looking forward to getting there to see one of the duaghters.
Thanks to all of the COs for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Cache number 3512 and day 109 of my current streak. I remember the old cache so I was able to go straight to it. A ute was parked nearby but the driver was asleep. So quickly had the cache in hand. Took it away for signing and then back to its hide. Thank you for the placement.
Passed by in the morning but returned in the afternoon.
Recovered and discovered a travel bug to move on.
Logged and placed the cache back in its concealed location.
Thanks.

Decided a couple of weeks ago to come to New Plymouth for Queens Birthday Weekend. The only time I have spent in New Plymouth is for work, so it was about time I spent some time here for pleasure. Found me a Airbnb and planned my caching weekend.
Decided to drive directly up to Piopio this morning and spend the day caching my way back to New Plymouth. Its been a day of Giants, Hobbits and Tunnels and I've had a great time. I haven't been on this road before and it is clearly one of New Zealand's best kept secrets!
Found the cache quite tricky to remove from its hiding spot, but after employing some type of contortion routine, managed to get it. TFTC

YAY...at last. ...looked twice before...this time ...success ....nice and dry too.... Thanks
Found today on way back from a birthday party. Went home the long way round. Gnome62 was in attendance. Surprisingly I found it. Left a diamond. Thanks for the cache.
Spent Nearly half an hr looking. ...pretty sure we found where it should be and couldn't see or anything on the likely 'shelves'. No reception for clue check or accurate compass reading either. Knees getting sore so gave up on it!!
Hubby and I headed to Taranaki to see the Festival of the Lights then travelled around the mountain. The weather wasn't the best. Never saw the mountain until 4th day. Day before we were due to head home. I decided to do some geocaching. Did 13. Had only 1 DNF as the cache has disappeared. #2. It was drizzling so I made hubby get as close as possible then made a dash hoping I had the right spot. Yes I did thankfully. This was a nice simple cache. TFTC.
No luck here after half hour with four eyes. Here with HennyGeo on holidays from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada in scenic New Zealand TFTC
Boxing day in new Plymouth and heading to taupo today picking up a few caches along the way ,we nearly did miss this one ,we pulled in and thought we might have to explain what geocaching was all about to a policeman sitting in his patrol car almost beside the cache,we were to learn because the GPS had us on a goose chase,we ended up just guessing where it was ,and the policeman speed off just as we were getting out of our car . tftc
#8725. Parked off Mokau Road in Uruti. A couple of large semi-trailer trucks were also parked up on site resting, but thankfully their vehicles had blocked the view of GZ. Wandered over to have a look. Found after a short search. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for bringing us to the site, and …

GPS took me the long way home after the Mega. Finding lots of good caches along the way. TFTF
Got to memorial gate but couldn't do too much as a truck was parked at gz and driver was unloading bobcat. He watched and watched and finally left. Now I could search. Thanks for bringing us here
Took a while gad to wait for the Downer truck driver to unload the digger...and you know how fast they are lol...all ckear and soon had cache in hand and signed thanks for a great cache
Heading south on a glorious day,
I was actually finding places that I could stop on the roadside and enjoy some leisurely finds
The whale of a geomobile I'm driving,
and the boggy and rough edges on NZ roads do not lend themselves to drive by finds
Here was a spot with plenty of parking [^]
I wandered over the memorial gate which seemed to be where the cache was hiding
The clue wasn't helping though !!
Back to geocaching basics ...
... no obvious cache hides,
but a wooden building.
Hmmm !! Rubs chin thoughtfully ...
... the cache must be ....
... HERE !!
I am a caching Samuri !! [:o)]

2nd day of my trip to New Zealand to visit my sister in New Plymouth before heading to the mega event next weekend. So I thought I should get some caches between Auckland and New Plymouth to make a line on the map.
No luck here today though, but reading it past logs it seems it may not be that simple so I may have been missing something obvious, but after 10 minutes or so it was time to continue the trip south. Thanks Cats&Dragons.

Found this one. Took a while., as I must have been blinking. Mission Accomplished TFTC! Blenheim Bear. This log posted with CacheSense for Android!
Found on our Hamilton/ Huntly trip with that's neat, 2 Bulbars and Blenheim bear
I finally found this cache after numerous attempts!!! Perseverance wins out in the end.
On our way home after a weekend in New Plymouth. We were going to do this one on our way down on Friday but it was raining and cold then so we did not bother. Today was a lovely day. Cold and windy but at least the sun was shining and it wasn't raining. Looked here and there. Looked again just to make sure. Maybe it's there. Hmm.
While Mrs S got lunch organised Mr S had another look and bingo, came up wth the goods. It's what he does. Knew it had to be there somewhere. Looks like the hall is still used regularly and a fantail came and talked to us while we having lunch. Maybe looking for a piece of cheese.??
Thanks Cats&Dragons. Didn't know you were a Naki boy.

I don't know how many times I have stopped to look for this darn cache and failed miserably each time. I have read and reread other logs and have suspicions where it might be but sadly my geospideysense is sadly lacking!!! HELP PLEASE
Yuss! Found the darn thing! Out for a Saturday drive in the Jeep, so just had to get this as we were nearby. Tftc
DNF. Thought we'd stop on our way to Hamilton for the night. Even with 2 of us looking, no luck! Will try again
Found on our April Holidays Road Trip. Day one, Wellington to Onaero. Day two Onaero to Kawhia via coast road, sort of.
TFTC.

Banian and I found this cache on our autumn northern roadtrip- where we did a circuit of the north island from Wellington right up to Raglan, then across to Napier through Taupo, before heading home, finding masses of caches and discovering a plethora of unique and interesting locations.
Difficult to get to but an easy find overall. TFTC

Knocked it off and had to employ a handy picket from nearby to retrieve
Picket was already there no fence was harmed in the performance of this stunt

Driving from Taupo...I stopped to grab a few of the caches I can't easily stop for in a car with the company logo on. Grabbed the predecessor, and have stopped once before when Maintenance was being done and the cache was not to be seen...this time I got it straight away. Tftc
This cache was one of the many caches we found on our 6 day campervan journey from Tauranga to Lower Hutt via Waihi, Cambridge, New Plymouth and along the west coast to Wanganui and back to the Hutt. A mighty and enjoyable journey which took us to many great and iconic parts of the north island and of course some great geocaches. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to so many new places. Sorry about the generic log but 200 plus to log. TFTC
Preparations going on for some event this evening, so we had to dodge the muggles, but warfi managed to make the grab. TFTC
It took a couple of mins, but was where i imagined it was going to be. Someone was cooking bacon somewhere in there, and that was a distraction. Tftc
Didn't blink and didn't miss it, glad to report that the cache is safely tucked away waiting for visitors TFTC.
This is my nemesis cache! Been out so many times looking for it . Is it at the hall? When I I'm out the cords in to GPS it takes me up uriti road but the app tells me it's at the hall .either way I didn't find it today.
Heading home from a week of Bridge in Hamilton. I decided to make a slight detour via Taranaki to tick off another Province and hopefully become eligible for a couple of Challenge caches that are on my radar.
Luckily the GPS was there for me otherwise this would be very missable.

We stopped at the Uruti Hall and located GZ after a brief search. Unfortunately this was done by dislodging the cache from its hiding spot. It had rolled further under and we spent several minutes before we we able to get it to hand. Signed the log and carefully replaced the cache. Thanks.
I think I have been here before with no luck but it was better this time.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
A mission was needed to complete one of the last few licence challenges on Rangitoto Island, so a passing comment to C&D at an event and this mission was soon planned. We nearly achieved what we set out to accomplish, with only 1 more cache to find to complete the challenge but that was due to miss-reading the fine print on the challenge page.
So with the mission lasting 48 hours we amassed a great set of numbers, 317 caches found, just over 1200km travelled, about 7 hours of sleep, C&D finding his 180th earthcache, completing the KAS powertrail in under 3 hours and finding numerous amazing geocaches. A lot of fun was had along the way, and some great memories were created. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches along the way, this mission wouldn't have been as much fun if they weren't there!
A bit of cache maintenance and a find for me as I was with the CO. Cache in the obvious spot, but its tucked away nicely. Thanks for the hide.

The cache was exactly wherecit was meant to be and where I had originally placed it, so all those with dnf's may need an upgrade their geo-spidysense.
Please enjoy

We picked up this cache on our way home after enjoying a family holiday in New Plymouth. The highlights of our trip were actually almost exclusively places this CO actually suggested we visit-thanks C&D! This was a quick park and grab for us and we were quickly back on the road heading north.
Had business at both ends of the Island and managed a transition day inbetween to find my first ever caches in Taranaki - glad I did. Thanks for putting these out and bringing me to this neck of the woods.
Day #1 of a 3 day road trip to the Taranaki.
Nearly pulled of a DNF on this one but managed to come up with the goods just before throwing in the towel.
Thanks!

Great find in a little town! Unfortunately the weather has got to the log book and it's saturated. TFTC!
Day 3 of the KiwiFruitsNZ/Vamber road trip saw us head back to Auckland, picking up some more lonely caches and some D/T combinations to help us with our GIO License requirements.
Took some searching but eventually found it.

The last day of our trip down to Taranaki with KiwifruitsNZ, saw us heading on our way back home to Auckland, picking up some solved puzzles and lonely caches on the way to meet the requirements for the GIO Licence series.
Cache was a bit water-logged, but managed to sign the log. We were back on the road again once the cache was found. Thanks for the hide!

We don't know what the previous loggers are talking about! We found this safe and sound just where we expected it to be and it is one of the driest and cleanest caches we have seen. The log book is the one that was replaced in February and it hasn't ever been wet.
Found it but couldn't sign log due to it being too wet... Didn't have any spare to leave... Could do with drying out and a new log
hmmm, big poke around and couldnt figure it out ;-/ have to try again next time i'm passing through!
On a trip down to New Plymouth for the weekend so this provided a quick break. As with a previous logger, I had found the previous cache last year so knew where this one was located - almost felt like cheating. Anyway, TFTC
Quick stop and hunt . Good to get out of the car, although only about 3 degrees at the time. Thanks
Dropped by on my way home after a long week in New Plymouth, I knew exactly where to looks I had found the previous cache here. Thanks for the placement.
Cruise by to grab this cache while on our way north….. cos we missed it on our way south. Unfortunately, we still haven’t watched the movie but we now know more about Uruti, TFTC.
