I went mountain biking for the first time today and took the opportunity to find a few caches. It was a great experience cycling through the gumtrees and enjoying the views of hobart.TFTC
Thanks Tasilee for hiding this cache. Now that my calendar and streak are completed, I can just cache for the fun of it. Your Traditional cache, Meehan 2, was just what I needed to get me out of the house and exercising. This is my find #2076 at 10:08 on 12/10/2024. FTF: Found with: selfWeather: fairMuggles: noneLight level: goodCache condition: goodDistance from GZ: Your cache was visited by my trackables: TB9QQD2, TB9KZ39 and TB7HH81
NUMBER 100!!! Such a great few months getting to go to so many new places. This was a really gorgeous walk on a beautiful day. This type of Australian bush certainly isn't most people's favourite, but I think it's lovely. Thank you so much Tasilee for placing this here for us to find. TFTC!
Today Zozetta and I went caching in the Meehan ranges, starting the day at Flagstaff Gully Road where we collected information for a multi. We then drove to the main parking area for the Meehan ranges, where we collected some more information for that multi and attempted two other caches, although the track to one of them was closed and the other was a DNF. We then drove to Belbins Road, and by this time we had been caching for almost two hours but still hadn’t found any caches for the day, so we were relieved to finally find one there. We then walked to the summit of Flagstaff Hill, finding several more caches along the way. We then walked back down the other side of the hill to find a couple more caches, and then walked back to the car. In total we walked 16.5Kms, found thirteen caches and had two DNFs.
This was one of six caches that we found in the Meehan series today. We enjoyed this series, and the walks to the caches, all of which were quick finds, except for one DNF on number six. All the caches in this series that we found were dry and in good condition.
Thanks for the cache Tasilee!

TFTC! Nearly walked right by it, as I was daydreaming!! Luckily dencoxclan had his mind on the job. Brilliant place to waste a day. TFTS!

Find #12913
In Tassie for a few days with beckNmonts and Earthbound Chief. Have been having a ball and continued along our merry way with some fun cache finds.
Day 3 was about challenge caches and picking up some of our solved puzzles.
Today was a bit of a tougher day with some difficult climbs up some mean hills. Found lots of great caches with full size log books and even managed to see a rainbow over the harbour.
Massive thanks go to Tasilee for placing this one.
Big things are continuing to happen! *Are you joining the fun again in 2022?*

We have realised that we have nowhere near enough time to find all the puzzles we have solved for this trip. So what will we do? Focus on mainly challenge caches that required no solving! What did ahomburg, Earthbound Chief, The Morris, myself and nominally Mazda StarBounceSky, the Standard Poodle, spend all those hours solving for? I suspect it’s because we are strange and enjoy it (seriously, thank you for placing them CO’s).
Earthbound Chief, ahomburg, Mazda and myself started the day at our now “regular” breakfast spot, to caffeinate for the day, then headed off again with our gratefully borrowed fishing pole and ladder! (Please hit us up in Vic, I’m happy to return the favour)
Thanks for the caches and puzzles we have had fun solving, Tasilee

Out on a jaunt with Ahomburg and BeckNmonts…the weather looks threatening but on the flip side of that we will not overheat! TFTC
Actually rode past this cache and had to backtrack.
Meet some MTB muggles and ended up explaining geocaching to them. After a little chat and a cool down, we were on our separate ways.
Found the cache very quickly.

Today we decided to tackle some of the Meehan series and this was one of them. We parked the car and made our way round in an anti clockwise direction and back again completing about half of the caches. Not many bike muggles about, but the ones we saw were going quick.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Well, the walk from 4 to 2 was much easier than the walk 1to 4. Wonder what 2 to 3 has in store??? TFTC
One of 17 caches found today on a fairly big walk in the area. Thankfully, it was all pretty much downhill from here. TFTC!

So what do you do after you do support all day for the Cadbury Marathon, you take to family and your wife on a small walk. Well that was the plan, unfortunately I didn't really plan it well. The walk was already longer and much steeper and wilder than expected. Then on the return circuit every path we wanted to take seemed blocked. In the end, the family went to the closer car park, while I ran back to the car, completely pushing thru the bush.
Son2 found this one quickly and then thru cache to us on the path. After signing it, we threw it back. No one dropped it.
Thanks for the cache Tasilee

Out on a cool but fine day for a walk around the Meehan ranges for a few caches. Good coordinates. Cache and contents all good. TFTC
It took my GPSr a few tics to settle down and point to the correct spot. Easily spotted then.
The strolling is a lot easier once up on the ridge top
And the viewing good too
The cache was soon tracked down
after a short look around [^]

MPhone co-ords out by 9 mtrs not sure if tree cover was to account but caches were not where they should be, TNTC TNLN log dry, a good day for caching. tricky find but still there.
Almost had me stumped. Kept looking for love in all the wrong place
Eventually struck gold

Me an' Lil Rafa and the geoGSP are now enjoying the walk, as we've reached the top of THAT hill. Another that Lil Rafa had previously found, so sat back whilst I made a nice quick find. It's quite sunny today, but there's now a refreshing zephyr circulating. Thanks for another nice hide in this series.

Wanted to do this series for a while. Was a great day for it, but unfortunately not enough time for them all. I guess I have to come back. I got a bit stumped . TFTC
It's been a long time since I ventured this far into the Meehan Range. Was starting to drizzle lightly at this stage and contemplated turning around and calling it a day, but it soon passed so on we plodded. Thoroughly enjoyed the different views of the area, TFTC.
Followed along the track from Meehan 4 after my FTF with PLAYTIME at night. THe moonlight was adequate, torch was only needed for the search for the actual cache.
GZ was not quite where I'd expect to be able to hide a cache (unless it was disguised as, say, grass).
A quick check of the hint and it was apparent that I needed to look in a particular place; which I did.
Located at roughly 01:15am 22/05/2016.

A quick find by TazScout as the ladies had scooted off in front, I was dragging my feet - literally. I have enjoyed the day immensely but am looking forward to taking the boots off. TFTC
We waited a bit after then event finished just in case we had any late comers wanting to just do the walk but by 10 o'clock no-one had turned up so we set off.
We were doing the Meehan loop backwards since we were starting from the main car park and not the parking area at Belbins Road, so our first target was number 18 which I had already done but i was glad to tag along in the hope of finding the path I missed when I was here last, next we were off to number 17 and this was a bush bash too, it was only when we were getting near to 16 that we found a trail at long last, number 16 was the first hard search we had and we were just about to give up when Deutz4544(D E U T Z) made a find where the rest of us had missed it, this pleased us all no end.
We found our way to a few caches counting down the numbers until number 14 where we turned the corner and I spotted another big climb so I set off determined to get to the top without stopping, I made it and stop for a rest which turned out to be for a few minutes since Deutz4544(D E U T Z) had run out of time and had headed home on a good looking decent path I had walked past, I’m sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye but I was on a mission.
Now we headed off to find a none Meehan cache, Room with a view which we all enjoyed before doubling back to the West so we could start back on the Meehan caches, we had some good fun finding caches 13 to 9 this is when we had to make a choice either go bush to number 8 or head Northwest following the path knowing full well we would have to double back after doing 6, 7 and 8.
Since we were heading North anyway we kept going finding a trail of sorts to take us towards the Trig point on Flagstaff hill, during this detour we came across my new caching mobile and some great sights, after finding a good path we headed Southeast from the top and started finding the Meehan caches again with number 6 taking us awhile to find before we went downhill all the way to 8 before turning round and going uphill yet again just so we could make our way to number 5.
After this it was a great run of quick finds as we at long last were making our way out of this monster that is the Meehan.
Having started out at about 10 this morning I along with GooseandEgg and TazScout found ourselves back at our cars around quarter to 6! We had a great day and I would like to thank everyone who turned up and I can’t wait for the next one.

We'd no sooner got our stride up than it was time to stop again. Now that we seemed to be on the ridge, if that was the sum total of hills to climb, then the walk was turning out to be less of a trek than I'd anticipated. Thanks Tasilee.
It looks like the hill climbing is done (for the moment anyway). Nice easy find this time, but I needed to stretch a bit to reach it! Three down, five to go. At least there is some level walking ahead
After leaving Meehan 4, it took a little while to get to the track junction but then, after another rest, it was much easier going along the ridge top. Twenty minutes after leaving Meehan 4, we arrived at this cache. Again accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache Tasilee.
Great weather for a walk in the hills to collect a set of caches. The walk is great and the forest so quiet.

Second for the day and first of Meehan series, after a stiff climb off track. GPS kept changing mind, but it was eventually found at the initial directed spot. TFTC Tasilee
On the eastern shore of the Derwent River the Meehan Range offers quite a number of walks and we decided that the Meehan geocache series would constitute quite a good one as well as allow a swag of caches to be attempted.
Things didn’t go quite as expected because we were looking for a bike track going uphill near an old munitions store site and missed it. A cement base was eventually spotted but no bike track and we decided to just climb up the slope through the bush, a 180 metre height gain. It was only on the return walk that it was realised there was a track that had been put in since our previous visit; this would have allowed us to do the walk in reverse.
The main drawback from the way we went was that the first two caches had already been bypassed and this necessitated a 450 metre each way double back to collect them. From then on it was easy walking along and over Simmons Hill then down the switchbacks of the fairly new bike track, which still had the track makers ribbons attached to trees. In all a 10.75k walk.

Quick find this time at 11:21. Love the walk so far. Very peaceful, with the occasional MBer flying past. TFTC!
Today was the day for the Meehan caches and this was the third. We have been in the area several times before but not for a while so it was good to get back there again. Meehan 2 was an easy find. TNLN. Thanks Tasilee.
Mr W spent the morning finishing off the Meehan series (thanks for relocating) and a nearby GCA cache. Found easily, enjoyed the walk. Solid climb up to the ridge. A very interesting area. TFTC

Discussion with owner of land today: Kindly requested to move it onto adjacent reserve as he has had problems with some. I'll relocate the cache within a week or two. Well done to those who found it (without problem). Apologies for those who had it on their agenda. It will be back, bigger and better.

On this leg I found the track alright, which meant a pleasant ride to GZ, where as expected I was STF. Thanks.
We used the trak to approach this cache. The cache was easily found as it was visible as we approached.
This cache is on private property. We know the owner and have his permission to enter his property. He does get quite upset when people trespass. We have also been told that there have been wires strung up across the bike tracks on this property so we don't recommend riding your bike up here.
