Sorry Tasilee, after a thorough search I did not come up with the goods today for your Traditional, Meehan 4. It may be worth a sanity check to see that it is still here, I have been known to be cache blind at times.
The GPS on my phone was not being overly helpful on this one, but Father got there in the end. There was also a strange piece of string that had been thrown over the highest branches of a nearby tree. Who put it there? Who knows. Never know what you're gonna find in the bush! TFTC Tasilee <3
Today Zozetta and I went caching in the Meehan ranges, starting the day at Flagstaff Gully Road where we collected information for a multi. We then drove to the main parking area for the Meehan ranges, where we collected some more information for that multi and attempted two other caches, although the track to one of them was closed and the other was a DNF. We then drove to Belbins Road, and by this time we had been caching for almost two hours but still hadn’t found any caches for the day, so we were relieved to finally find one there. We then walked to the summit of Flagstaff Hill, finding several more caches along the way. We then walked back down the other side of the hill to find a couple more caches, and then walked back to the car. In total we walked 16.5Kms, found thirteen caches and had two DNFs.
This was one of six caches that we found in the Meehan series today. We enjoyed this series, and the walks to the caches, all of which were quick finds, except for one DNF on number six. All the caches in this series that we found were dry and in good condition.
Thanks for the cache Tasilee!

TFTC and the nice new logbook! Lovely hike, beautiful sunny day, fresh but quite warm now the sun is on us. So quiet. Decent elevation so thanks also for keeping us fit!!
I decided to double back and come get this cache and the next down this track so I don’t have to come back again (until I’m a lot fitter!!)
Turned off the track into the bush and spotted the hide even before I got off the bike.
Thanks for the cache!

So far so good re: DNF's damaged cache containers or wet through logs. All so far has been good and dry

Today we decided to tackle some of the Meehan series and this was one of them. We parked the car and made our way round in an anti clockwise direction and back again completing about half of the caches. Not many bike muggles about, but the ones we saw were going quick.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Out and about walking the trails in the Meehan Mountains n Bike Park - because you f we rode we would kill or at least seriously maim ourselves! TFTC
A good walk to get up here - it's certainly not the flattest of terrains! TFTC!

Out on a cool but fine day for a walk around the Meehan ranges for a few caches. Good coordinates. Cache and contents all good. TFTC
Started doing some calculations. How far from the car am I? What time do I need to be back? Hmmm, despite the legs complaining after a morning walking around Salamanca, I need to start jogging ....
The strollin' was fine up on high
Good glimpses of the views through the trees too.
I didn't realise just how close to the centre of Hobart I was up here
A quick cache find again [^]

MPhone co-ords out by 9 mtrs not sure if tree cover was to account but caches were not where they should be, TNTC TNLN log dry, a good day for caching.
Hi Tasilee, thanks for the cache, I liked the hide and a nice flat GZ. I didn't however like the haul up the hill from M1, and the 'out of numerical order' cache did my head in! I can see though that we're nearly to the top.

Wanted to do this series for a while. Was a great day for it, but unfortunately not enough time for them all. I guess I have to come back. I got a bit stumped . TFTC
I was itching for a walk tonight after 10pm. An alert came up for a new cache [PLAYTIME GC6J17B](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6J17B_playtime) in this area just as I was leaving the house - so I decided to walk up here instead of where I was going to go.
I must confess normally when I go out at night into the bush it is to areas I know well and, if not, I have my route planned based on a previous route, on mainly vehicular tracks, generally avoiding bush-bashing, etc. On this occasion it is an area I've been before but not somewhere I could say I know "like the back of my hand". So after the FTF with PLAYTIME I progressed along to this cache.
On the way I deviated to a lower track which eventually lead to an overgrown track, and overgrown cleared area, which eventually lead to me following the contour on no track. I turned back, this turned out to be not the route I needed.
After following the wider track I was soon at a junction and followed my nose with the tracks to where I needed to go.
GZ was a pair of Exocarpos Cupressiformis trees, apparently near a formed track, one tagged with (I think it was blue) survey tape on the tip. The hint was read and the net widened; the cache was located in good condition nearby at about 01:00am or there abouts.
I followed the nearby track back slightly uphill to return to the main track I had just passed.

The coordinates were spot on but the hint had us looking for something else so we widened our search a little. We ended up finding it right where we started. TFTC
We waited a bit after then event finished just in case we had any late comers wanting to just do the walk but by 10 o'clock no-one had turned up so we set off.
We were doing the Meehan loop backwards since we were starting from the main car park and not the parking area at Belbins Road, so our first target was number 18 which I had already done but i was glad to tag along in the hope of finding the path I missed when I was here last, next we were off to number 17 and this was a bush bash too, it was only when we were getting near to 16 that we found a trail at long last, number 16 was the first hard search we had and we were just about to give up when Deutz4544(D E U T Z) made a find where the rest of us had missed it, this pleased us all no end.
We found our way to a few caches counting down the numbers until number 14 where we turned the corner and I spotted another big climb so I set off determined to get to the top without stopping, I made it and stop for a rest which turned out to be for a few minutes since Deutz4544(D E U T Z) had run out of time and had headed home on a good looking decent path I had walked past, I’m sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye but I was on a mission.
Now we headed off to find a none Meehan cache, Room with a view which we all enjoyed before doubling back to the West so we could start back on the Meehan caches, we had some good fun finding caches 13 to 9 this is when we had to make a choice either go bush to number 8 or head Northwest following the path knowing full well we would have to double back after doing 6, 7 and 8.
Since we were heading North anyway we kept going finding a trail of sorts to take us towards the Trig point on Flagstaff hill, during this detour we came across my new caching mobile and some great sights, after finding a good path we headed Southeast from the top and started finding the Meehan caches again with number 6 taking us awhile to find before we went downhill all the way to 8 before turning round and going uphill yet again just so we could make our way to number 5.
After this it was a great run of quick finds as we at long last were making our way out of this monster that is the Meehan.
Having started out at about 10 this morning I along with GooseandEgg and TazScout found ourselves back at our cars around quarter to 6! We had a great day and I would like to thank everyone who turned up and I can’t wait for the next one.

Ahh, it's much easier when your on the right walking track. We huffed and puffed up this bit and a quick search had the cache in hand. Nice little hide. TFTC Tasilee
Invited a good muggle friend to join me, as she regularly rides here. We made our way up the hill following single, 4WD tracks and a little bush basing to get to the top quicker.

The GPSR kept leading away to somewhere other than the obvious, but careful consideration of the sensible area (and disregarding the hint) showed the little blighter tucked away underneath !

This was the second one that we came to. I first checked a different stump and found a most unusual fungus. Wilco seemed more interested in the string attached to the tree, but he proceeded to make the find in a spot that I wouldn't call a stump, but was a neat hide anyway. Thanks Tasilee.
Meehan 4 seemed next in sequence after number one, but took a little searching to find the right 'stump'. I wondered whether the string that went up the dead tree might be some form of ingenious hiding method, but that didn't lead me anywhere. Eventually a stone that looked out of place was spotted and the cache found. With two down and six to go we continued up the hill.
Thirty minutes after leaving Meehan 1, we got to Meehan 4, the next in the series. Again, there were numerous stops to recuperate a little before moving on. Once near GZ, Mrs y'stassie went to look for this one as the terrain was not that easily negotiable for the other half of the team. Again, accurate coordinates led to a quick find. the cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks for the cache Tasilee.
Great weather for a walk in the hills to collect a set of caches. Thankfully the climb seems over for the time being and now I can enjoy the walk.

While Knights #1 and #4 were in melbourne the Knight Rider (Knight #3) went to the Meehan Ranges to pick up a few caches (on his mountain bike).
Knight #3 had this one in hand relatively quick. TFTC.

On the eastern shore of the Derwent River the Meehan Range offers quite a number of walks and we decided that the Meehan geocache series would constitute quite a good one as well as allow a swag of caches to be attempted.
Things didn’t go quite as expected because we were looking for a bike track going uphill near an old munitions store site and missed it. A cement base was eventually spotted but no bike track and we decided to just climb up the slope through the bush, a 180 metre height gain. It was only on the return walk that it was realised there was a track that had been put in since our previous visit; this would have allowed us to do the walk in reverse.
The main drawback from the way we went was that the first two caches had already been bypassed and this necessitated a 450 metre each way double back to collect them. From then on it was easy walking along and over Simmons Hill then down the switchbacks of the fairly new bike track, which still had the track makers ribbons attached to trees. In all a 10.75k walk.

Today was the day for the Meehan caches and this was the second. We have been in the area several times before but not for a while so it was good to get back there again. Meehan 4 was an easy find after a bit more of a climb. TNLN. Thanks Tasilee.
Mr W was in the area doing another cache so approached GZ from the gully 500m below. It was a good view walking backout on the 4wd track. TFTC

After my battle up the hill to #3, I was running out of energy in the heat, and ended up pushing a fair part of the way to #4. After finding the cache, I headed back down the track and soon found myself on a rutted 4WD track that I remembered from an earlier trip. By the bottom of that, I was seriously running out of brakes, but I was soon safely back at the car.
Did I mention I was STF?
Thanks.

After what seemed a very long uphill trek we eventually arrived at gz. It wasn't really that long but the heat made the journey seem longer. Cache was quickly located. TFTC
