Thanks for the hunt! Last point took longer than it should of as I was in denial about checking the place I thought it would be haha, so checked the easier places first until I decided nope I better go check the place I believe it is and yip there it was!
#15,069. We started this multi that started from Budleigh Street in Frankleigh Park, New Plymouth some time ago. While we found both waypoints, we could not find the final at that time. Knowing that the cache had recently been maintained, we returned to have another go.We initially went to the final coordinates we had from last time. Searched all around but still nothing. We retraced our steps and found waypoint 2 again. Noted the coordinates were now a lot clearer than before, but then they showed some slightly different final coordinates that we had before about 13 metres away. Not sure if we had misread the original coordinates the first time round, or if the final coordinates had in fact been changed slightly. In any case, we returned to where the new coordinates were pointing.Searched around some more, and then finally we managed to find the well-hidden cache. The final GZ was fortunately all quiet at all the times of our visit. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.We noted the difficulty rating had also recently been changed from 2.5 down to 1.5 to ensure accessibility to all members. However, in our opinion, given our and others experience, this may give a somewhat optimistic expectation for future finders. We think a fairer rating would be Difficulty 2.5 and Terrain 2.*Thanks for the multi and geocache placement, and for bringing us to all these sites, and **.T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e.**.M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.*---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On **May 3rd, 2025**, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. Thanks for the maintenance! Unfortunately for us stat seekers, editing the cache page has forced the rare legacy size of Not Chosen to be changed to Other
Coordinates changed from:S 39 4.926 E 174 4.306Coordinates changed to:S 39 4.944 E 174 4.268Distance from original: 211.2 feet or 64.4 meters.Moved starting point of cache. Second and final waypoints are in the same locations, although made more permanent.
Hi team!Apologies for the delay in getting this cache fixed - myself and Extn both live out of town now!We have moved the first waypoint, and made the first and second waypoints more permanent. The cache is in the same location, and is still in fine condition. We have also changed the difficulty ratings to ensure accessibility to all members.Thanks for your patience, and happy geocaching!
I was walking past here today so thought I'd give it a go. After i couldnt find wp1, i started to read some previous logs and looks like wp1 and wp2 are missing or in bad shape and people are only able to find it with co-ords from previous finders. It wasnt clear that the CO had been contacted, so have done that and fingers crossed we'll be able to look again soon.
Happy New Year, and welcome to 2024.My travels over the first few days of the year took me from Upper Hutt, where I welcomed in the new year, up here to New Plymouth, to see some bands play, via the Wairarapa, cos that's the way I travel. Having had a busy Geocaching month in December, January will be a little lighter and I will be targeting geocaches that I need for specific purposes. This cache was one I found.Like the previous finder, this cache was high on my todo list due to its rare combination of type and size. The reason this has become important is a recently published set of Challenge caches down in Wellington that require finding all the combinations of type and size that are available:[GCAENWJ - Got the set challenge Easy](https://coord.info/GCAENWJ)[GCAEM09 - Got the set challenge Medium](https://coord.info/GCAEM09)[GCAENWZ - Got the set challenge Hard](https://coord.info/GCAENWZ)I was aware from the past logs that Waypoint 1 was no longer available, so had sent out a few requests to past finders to get the coordinates for Waypoint 2, which I got along with some recollections of the final location. That was good, because although I found Waypoint 2 the text is very difficult to read, and so like others I had to list out the potential options and then review them based on the other physical information available in the past logs. That said, once you do all that a fairly clear location is easily identifiable, and once there the cache as found without any trouble. A great wee hide and a the cache is in great shape.---Thanks to graydonguy2013, extn8891 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
I targeted this on our trip to Taranaki as its a rare Not Chosen sized multi. Luckily I had a previous finder with me! The first waypoint has gone, the 2nd is still present though rusty & hard to read. We spent 5 at GZ until we (re)found the cache in its slightly unusual placement; I left some of the accumulated cover off. Thanks graydonguy2013!
Haven't found this cache just yet, but will try again on a nicer day with the partner.
A nice little multi, although we had some difficulty reading the coordinates at waypoint 2. It took quite a while to find the final cache. Our eventual solution was to combine two previous finders' techniques and return to the clearing, then go in on a bearing to the right of the big tree after which it was a fairly quick find. TFTC
Hello person reading this!
We found the first two easily but we spent awhile on the last one, thanks to another Geocacher who mentioned a bank in their log. We read their log, looked at each other and thought - we are finding this one after all! And went hunting again, but this time around and down all the banks. after around 10 minutes we managed to find it!
Sneaky spot!

Having tried this before with no luck it was great to have some local assistance with this and a few others nearby. found hint 1 then two again, and on to final again. lots of trees here! i went to the left of the biggest tree as i did previously, . but it is a lot easier to go to the RIGHT of the big tree. and then it was found. thanks for the cache and the support og my fellow geo cachers. JB and TT. i wil log a photo later.
Christmas Day - a day of multis! And what a mission this one was!
Waypoint 1 and 2 containers are so rusty that they are falling to bit - eclipse are not he best kind of outdoor container unless they are off the ground and fully protected from rain. WP 2's coordinates werer hard to read, especially the second to last digit. We waypointed three options then visited two of them. One did not match Yeetree's log, the other was good, so that second-to-last digit is supposed to be a "6". At the final we spent ages exploring every tree three times over before finding the nice dry cache.
Re the fruit trees - lots in fruit, but alas, it is late December (Christmas day, in fact) and there is still a month or three before they are ripe. I saw apples, pears, plums, nectarines, and maybe peaches. What an awesome place!
Day thirteen of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is wandering about New Plymouth. It's Christmas! Merry Happy Birthday everyone!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Merry Christmas. Capturing the info here was difficult with rusty tins and info hard to read. Finally got some cords that look good. So we are off to check them out. Spent ages here trying to find this elusive one and Im casting my search net wider. The Seagnoid finally snags this one. Cheers
Day 13- Merry Christmas, Wednesday 25 December. Around New Plymouth again today.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Was in New Plymouth for work and after arriving in and checking into my accommodation I decided that it was time to contact Phronimos and TaraTed as I had made prior arrangement to go and have dinner with them. We decided that we would go and have dinner at Westown at the local pub as the other place that we wanted to go to was busy, after having dinner, Phronimos asked me if I was interested in going around and picking up a few caches that I had on my unfound and DNF list, who was I to refuse.
After finding GC5VA1K - Crouch,Touch,Pause,Engage!! (Taranaki), Phronimos and TaraTed convinced me that since we were in the area it would be a shame not to go and check out this cache, as I had mentioned it to them that I had tried looking for this cache when I was here on a prior visit and had failed big time [xx(].
We decided that since I had the final co-ordinates that we would make our way to GZ via another entry point that was a bit more closer to the final GZ, as we were making our way into GZ, TaraTed advised me that this area was a communal gardens, which I totally forgot and it explains why there was so many fruit trees.
The walk to GZ was quite pleasant as the evening was still quite long and the sun was still in the air for a bit longer, as we neared GZ, it was starting to look familiar, and it was just a matter of getting down to GZ, as I neared GZ, Phronimos asked me to go and check out an area that I had surely search thoroughly on my previous visit and there it was, how I had missed the cache I have no idea, I am sure that it wasnt there last time I looked.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks graydonguy2013, extn8891 for placing this puzzle cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (14107). Was glad that I managed to get this cache off my list of DNF caches and turn the smile upside down.
After replacing the cache, it was just a matter of making our way back up the bank and then it was just a short walk back to our cars, well kind of short walk, but we took a short detour and check out the fruit trees and TaraTed managed to get a handful of delicious figs to take home [^] Yum.

Was in New Plymouth for work and had just finished my appointment nearby so was thinking to myself as to what I was going to do and as I left my customer I checked my GPSr and saw that there was a couple of new caches that were not too far away.
After finding GC7QM09 - Phronimos' Hidden Creature#2: Fairy (Taranaki), I decided that since I decided that I might as well give this cache a go as I noted that this cache hasnt being found for a little time. Arriving at the carpark of Brois Street I managed to find a carpark not too far from GZ.
From there it was a nice walk towards GZ. Arriving at the first waypoint, it only took me a couple of seconds to find the first waypoint., the container might need a bit of TLC as it is getting a little worst for wear, but I was still able to get the required numbers for WP2.,
Making my way down to WP2 even though the ground was a bit damp due to the rain that happened overnight, it wasnt too damp underfoot as long as I watched where I walked and it really didnt take long before I was soon at the next waypoint.
Managed to find the container very quickly and then gather the Final co-ordinates from here, now it was time to go to the final GZ. Arriving at GZ there was a few possibilities but there was only really one option. Searched high and low and in the most obvious spots but still cache, there was a great spot where I would hide a cache but after having a good look and coming up empty handed it was time to move on.
Once I got back into cellphone range I PAF to find out if I was in the right area and it was confirmed that I was, so it might need some TLC as think the cache might be missing or I am blind, maybe the latter...

on the hunt, nice walk a little hilly . found safe and sound, all way points still in good condition TFTC
Finally returned to this multi to have another crack. Went straight to the first way point from memory of my last trip.
Second point that stumped me last time seemed straight forward so I wasted no time getting to GZ (apart from snacking on a few plums).
Like so many before me, this last location took some time with GPS zeroing down at several trees. Eventually I found the right one. I thought I would post how far out the coordinates were from GZ but once again they said zero meters distant from where I was standing.
Cheers.

Found with Trayc.g, logging now as I have my own account. Loved all the different trees.
Had an hour spare before an appointment, and thank goodness I gave myself that hour because it took me 45min to find the final!! Found stage 1&2 very quickly. I actually found stage 2 with out even waiting for gps to settle down because it was that obvious where it was. But stage 3!? I must of looked in every tree in the vicinity 3 times as gps was so all over the place. But I finally found it. Yippee. My cousins grew up in a house that backs onto this reserve and we were always getting told off for disappearing into the bush to play, so this place brought back some good memories.TFTC
Found tge first mint tin easy enough but no joy at wp2. Looked for a while not wanting to venture to far off the path. Will have to rethink the hint if I'm back in the area.
Hey all! Just checked the final gz and the cache is still there. All is well in the forest. Coordinates are accurate. Let's look a bit harder!
I took the high road to WP1 and WP2 which was probably not my smartest idea as it was starting to rain. I did a bit of searching at WP3 but to no avail, it was starting to get dark and the rain heavier so decided I would leave WP3 for another day.
I had been waiting for quite some time to do this cache and today was the day! The second point was suffering from rust, but perseverance won, and I had the final co-ords. Arrived quickly at approximate GZ. Then the fun started. A slow ( I am hobbling around) grid search produced nothing, so I retreated to a clearing, took a bearing and headed towards the right spot. Had to call on my trusty companion to make the final grab for me - otherwise I might have required the rescue helicopter! Good to see the cache is actually still safe and sound, but certainly challenging. TFTC
It was a very wet day today but had stopped raining so we thought we'd attempt this one. The paths were quite slippery, but not too much of a problem.
Managed to locate the first 2 WP's without any issue's, in fact the co ords were spot on, but the final was a different story. Even reading the previous logs about the co ords being out didn't help. We spent way too long here & went away empty handed. Perhaps given the amount of trouble people have with the final, a better clue would be helpful?

Wet day here in New Plymouth so I devoted it to laying out next month's Urban Rogaine around for Orienteering Taranaki. By late afternoon the weather had improved, so it only right I grab this " bugging me" cache. Lovely down in Fangorn's forest. The figs are setting and plums are in blossom. Nice hide, but a bit of searching required. GPS about 11m out. NINO TFTC
DNF… No problems locating WP1 or WP2….. but it was a Fruitless search for us at Fangorn, GPS took us close to a likely and what looks like a well searched location, we even extended our search zone to no avail….. perhaps the final coords are out?
Been to check it this morning after a few dnf and everything is still there you may just have to look a bit harder as the comtainers are painted black
Found the first way point easily when out with Cave Weta. GPS was all over the place for the second way point and in spite of 4 of us spending some time looking we could not find it. Maybe there needs to be a clearer hint.
With Possum and Cleo - found the first clue OK but could not locate the second one.
A long time overdue for another wander through this area... Sampled a few of the fruits... And located the caches leading to the final... Took a bit of searching... But with a bit of help managed to locate it before being eaten alive... TFTC
Found fruit on the way and extra geo cachers this made for a better chance to find as the gps would not settle down so with four sets of eyes looking finally cracked it love this area TFTC
This cache seems to bring cachers together. We were a bit worried whne we saw others over near where we wanted to go but looking at their actions it was obvious what they were doing. Great to meet fellow cachers. Also love seeing fruit trees in public areas. Didn't know the place existed. TFTC
Yes the gps did bounce around under the canopy of bush. Second look and this time found it in company with 3 other cachers over an extended search area. Nice to put names to faces. tftc
Took some finding this one GPS all over the place.Lots of interesting trees here.A Pukatea with a great display of trunk buttresses was good to see, also, some trees with tags Corylus Avellana (had to look this up on google),not to mention all the fruit trees Picked up trackable.SL TFTC
It was almost a geo-event with this one, as a number of us converged. We had found the first stage, but struggled with the second as the co-ords were a bit out. While we were looking the other stages underwent maintenance and we were able to claim a joint FTF. Dropped off a multi-stage trackable.
Sampled some fruits of Fangorn on the way out, very tasty. Thanks for the cache, it was fun meeting everyone.
