#4199 Today is day 34 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. Today, I made a detour to The Longest Place Name in The World on my way to Napier. This was also my main goal of the day. Found it, finally! I spotted the actual letterbox after I pulled over at the posted coordinates. I read the description so many times but couldn't find out where it is. I wandered around the gate, walked into a neighbor's yard, and did a short tour of the house Ian built. After speaking to one of the neighbors who was expecting his daughter's visit, I walked back to my car and read the description again. Found it where the neighbor said, 40 min later . I guess I was expecting something else. The ink of the stamp had dried out. Good thing a letterboxer always has their own ink.pad. The letterbox deserved a good-sized logbook for the stamps. So, I left the notebook I got from [Geo Toroa (Dunedin, NZ)](https://coord.info/GCA7ZHD). Unfortunately, I had no tool to make it smaller, so it had to be folded in half. the Seagnoid, thank you for the cache! -crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on November 3, 2024 @ 12:02:46[GC4XPQ7] The house that Ian built (Manawatu) was a D1.0/T1.5 Small Letterbox Hybrid at the time of finding.
What a fantastic little house that Ian built! A quick find and log sign whilst the cars whizzed by. tftc
Heading from Feilding to Palmerston North, so I decided to go this way as this letterbox cache sounded intriguing. It took me longer than it should have, and several reads of the description, to find the cache.Cool letterbox!

#13,779. The run up to Christmas has been seriously busy at work and I haven't managed to do any geocaching for over a week. But I am now on Christmas leave and I needed a road trip to help me put work matters behind me. My main aim today was to get some solved puzzles found up near Feilding, do an adlab and pick up any other caches along the route that took my fancy. Always good to stop and get a letterbox hybrid cache. While searching a car pulled up and the passenger asked what I was doing. So I told them I was looking for a geocache and they said good luck it could be there or it could be over there then drove off having a good chuckle. I soon applied the poem to narrow down the hiding place. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks the Seagnoid for hiding it here.
A nice quick find. what a cute letter box! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are on the road again, up "North" to visit family an friends. Today was a bit of a cruise around Feilding, weather reasonable, caches too!Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
We were heading to Wellington and stopped off in Parmi to visit a cousin which I had never met until today. This cache was enroute and would be rude not to sign the log.. Loved the poem and did Ian build the letterbox. Soon found the cache after a short search. TFTC
A small group of us from Team SEAC consisting of Keylev, Stik-A-Crane, Uncle Sam and ourselves had come down from Auckland to spend the long weekend caching in the Manawatu area. The plan was to get as many as possible. Along the way we had some great adventures, many laughs, met some interesting people and found a wide selection of caches. Signed SEAC to save space on the log. TFTC.Very impressed with the time and effort that has been applied here to create the original letterbox. Love the poem too, which definitely helped us to find the cache. FP given.
This one gets a Fav.point for the effort gone into the supporting feature...very realistic....Day 2 of our caching trip to Palmerston North area with HeMaLuDy, UncleSamNZ, Keylev, and myself, signing in as SEAC or TEAM SEAC to save logbook space. A big thanks to all the CO's for cache placement and maintenance, making this trip the success that it was.TFTC.
Day #2 of the Team SEAC extra long weekend little road trip for Labour Weekend. How cool! So we started searching and thought it had been muggled until we actually re-read the page again. Ha ha you got us!Thanks for the cache.
Got distracted by the letterbox Small group of caching buddies drove down from Auckland for the long weekend, and headed for Palmerston North area. Sorry for the generic posts, but we had so many caches to find.Had a great time, with so many laughs. Thanks to all the Cache owners who placed the caches. All logs signed "SEAC" or "Team Seac"
I’d wanted to stop by this cache for a while and today I was able to swing by on my way home.
A nice quick find. What a super cute letterbox.

This looks very familiar. Why does this look so familiar?
There's the letterbox, and the container is... there!
Why do I know that if I haven't already found it, even though the website (and app) says I haven't logged it?
Let's check the logbook - well, that's my writing, but not my name.
Apparently I did some maintenance on the cache at some point and replaced the logbook (and container?) but didn't claim the find.
Given that I need to find a Letterbox Hybrid cache for this month's Icon promotion, I'm grateful to past me! [:X]
Thanks EL!
Thanks also tS for highlighting this location!

Out caching the Manawatu, following a Popmac event today, with Justlooking00 and taybeeNZ. A totally awesome letterbox worthy of a cache to encourage people to stop here. Super impressed with the skill, got to be one of the best letterboxes around. A FAV for sure. Thanks the Seagnoid.
Fav point for letterbox. Cache wasn't as exciting but quickly found & signed. Initially thought cache was in the letterbox. Dropped a Tb. Tftc
Up in the flat lands today to catch up with a four legged friend so thought we would grab a few caches along the way.
Well it would seem that Ian is a clever bastard. He built himself a really cool house that has turned out to be the nicest in the street by far.
After spending some time checking the house out it was time for a very cool and traditional Letterbox Hybrid style poem. The cache was then in hand. All in good order there.
TNLNSL Thanks again the Seagnoid

Flying into Palmerston North airport today making my way to Levin to conducting training for our customers night shift. Flew in early so I could cache on the way through to Levin before staring the training late afternoon.
Easy find. Awesome little letterbox built in between 2 normal letter boxes. Well worth a slight detour.

Cool letter box. Thought it was the cache at first. Lol. On a drive picking up as many as we can today. On way home tomorrow. Tftc.
Due to the postponement of the Auckland Mega, Buttels and the Crystal half decided to use the dates planned for the event to do some caching between Wellington and Palmy. Was just about to start searching for the cache and was taking a photo, when someone arrived and asked what we were doing. We explained we were playing a treasure hunt type game and there was something here. They said that was interesting as they lived here and wasn't aware of anything and then drove on in home. Found the cache seconds later, logged and moved on.
Thanks for the cache

A very cool letterbox, though teh cache proved tricker to locate, Was with Crystal Fairy as we headed up to Palmerston North for a weekends caching. TFTC
I was supposed to be heading to the Mega. Instead I’m heading home. On my way from Feilding to Wellington via Palmy today.

Team BOP back together after a 3 month hiatus - this time hitting the Manawatu with our sights set on some Labs, some geo-art & everything else that crosses our path ??
We’ve signed our logs as Team BOP to save time and log space and have thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far. Pleasantly surprised that very little maintenance has been required and that most caches have been found quickly & without fuss.
While I am cut&pasting these logs using the Cachly ‘text template’ I do genuinely appreciate the work put into these caches, particularly some of the puzzles. Cheers and TFTC ????

?????? Off on another adventure with Team BOP to the Manawatu on a long weekend Great weather and company And lots of different types of caches Day two ???? Using this template but will try to add add individual notes as we go Thanks to all the COs for providing the caches and fun such cool mailboxes??????
I stayed in Palmerston North last night so I could grab a few caches around town such as this one. I thought the cache was the really fancy mailbox in the middle, but it turns out it is just someone's mailbox. TFTC.
What to do on a long weekend. Organise a trip to the mighty Manawatu So here we are. Team BoP on a mission. Cheers for bringing me here. Day two of a great trip.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

Almost in Palmerston North now, staying a few nights with me good mate Andrew, he knows I might be a little late, but we'll have a dinner at some time...lol.
Same theme going on here. Another letterbox cache to add to my tally. Boy... you're right about the speeding cars. My last cache for the day and off to catch up with my good mate and have some needed dinner. Thanks for placing the cache here.

On my way back to Wellington from Wanganui and made the detour here for a visit. A quick find here having just done the other one down the road I read the description right first time. TFTC
After working in Whanganui for two weeks it was time to head home to Gisborne. What better way to break up the journey then collect some smiley faces on the way. Excited to collect three letterboxes in a row! Awesome little houses. Thanks.
#1141. I was on a mission over the last few days to get a bunch of virtuals, letterbox hybrids, challenge caches and any traditionals that happened to get in the way during my trip to Wellington. This cache right here was one such letterbox hybrid.
Loved the letterbox, and liked the fact that the cache was an easy find! Cheers!

This is a log of a find that
despite the muggles that whizz at 100k
past the owners and neighbours
that know of the cache
that's in front of the tree
and behind the fence
that's across the drive
that's beside the house
that Ian built.
And a VERY FINE house it is too!

Day three of my road trip from Auckland to Nelson in my newly acquired convertible cachemobile. Finding a few caches along the way. Well that's two from two for the letterbox caches along this road. The cache was a bit exposed so I tucked it in a bit better than it was. TFTC, Biggles.
Spotted from the road, so nice easy collection as it started to rain! Collecting a few high FPs on the way home to Welly TFTC
Both the houses that Ian build are great. Fav points for both Thanks CO for the caches.
First letterbox cache logged.
Only muggles were the sheep watching on.
These letter boxes are awesome.

On our way from Paraparaumu to Turangi to stay with our friends in their bach there we took the scenic route and what a marvellous way it was too. Once we read the description properly we found the cache. What a great idea. Loved it. TFTC
Taking some more of the quieter roads today and always nice to find a letterbox cache along the way. We managed to stay quite dry despite the weather and Ryan decided that the off road jandals was the order of the day today. TFTC
My penultimate day in the north island, I missed a couple of caches yesterday that where on my MUST do list so backtracked a little to get them before heading to Wellington, couldnt resist picking a few others along the way especially a letterbox. I saw the name of the cache and just assumed I knew where it would be, sometimes a letterbox is purely a letter box [:o]. I hadnt bothered to take the GPS because I thought I didnt need it so with no idea which direction it might actually be in I had to return to the car for it. Then I took the time to read the description, very cleverly written and I soon had the cache. Thanks Seagnoid

Day Seven of a 12 day, 3000 km road trip around the North Island with the primary objectives being the Taupo Ultra Marathon on the 13th and my first ever caching Mega event in Wellington on the weekend of 20th & 21st. With thousands of possibilities for caches to look for on the way, I had to be very selective and decided to concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, ones that would fill missing spots in my statistics grids and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close by those.
Today while the other half went shopping in town, I did a tour of the roads around Palmerston North. The weather was great again, with no sign of any rain to interfere with caching activities.
This one was definitely on the list to do, being a different type and with good numbers of favourite points. Once at GZ, the letterbox was immediately obvious, but finding the actual cache was a different matter. After re reading the description, I realised what I had been missing and then the cache was quickly located. Signed the log and replaced back safe and secure, ready for the next finder. TFTC

On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for. Great letter box and an easy find here.
I'm heading down to the Wellington Mega with the greatauk. This was the fourth day of our 10 day trip. I wanted a long line of smiles down the country but I also wanted to pick up some of my solved puzzles along the way along with unusual cache types. Today we were caching around Palmy. I lived here for 10 years when I was at Uni. I married and had three babies in this city. We're staying with old friends so it's great to be back here. We didn't read the description at first and thought the house that Ian built was the cache container. It was a lovely creation and the real cache soon found nearby, thanks
Here is my smile
as I write this log
that confirms the find

I spotted that a new Earthcache had been published in Palmerston North a few weeks ago, and then lo and behold a new Virtual was published not so far away from it too! Suddenly I had the possibility to attempt 7 cache types in a day if I could find either a CITO or an event to attend in the vicinity. Luckily for me, my wish was granted as an event was published nearby so it was all on for the attempt.
So in preparation I had a look at some of the local caches that I could reasonable expect to find quickly, and this was the nearest Letterbox. I had to work until 5, then drive up to Palmy to have a crack at this, so the light was almost entirely gone by the time I got to GZ, but I still had enough time to be completely fooled about where I expected the cache to be, and subsequently try not to look suspicious whilst using my torch to look around to find it.
You can only imagine my relief when I spotted it! All is well with the cache, and the log was quickly signed and everything reinstated as found.
Anyway, thanks for placing this cache, and helping me achieve a personal geocaching goal.

Got really excited to find a cute little house that we were sure was the cache. It wasn't. Wonder how many others have done that as well LOL. Located cache nearby, spent a few minutes admiring the cute little house and went on to find the next one. TFTC
Stopped off since I was on a maintenance run and comeing past. I had Taybeedragon with me - she loved the stamp!
The Seagnoid and I are on a cache maintenance mission to Palmerston North today. With maintenance in the bag and plenty of time to spare, its time to explore this area, with a few caches in the mix - of course!
The cache page rhyme is great and I had The Seagnoid reading it to me on our drive here. Another house that Ian built. Love this one too and another stamp Seagnoid stamp - green this one. Spotted the cache as we parked up. Tagged and hidden a little better. Cheers. Fav from me.

Love the house and the information in the description reminded of my childhood. Signed as Team REL and TFTC. Favourite given.
This was found quickly and easily after looking over the situation and then going in for the reach and retrieval. We wrote our name in the geocaching log book and then put everything back as it was found. Yet another cache that was signed in the rain today. Greetings from a couple of Aussie cachers who love travelling and caching and thanks to Seagnoid for placing this letter box cache.
Nice story...the postie will have trouble finding this one ha ha ha...the up side is no junk mail...found all good signed and replaced as found thank Signoid
A lot of work has gone into Ian's letterbox. Just as well I read the poem though. This one wasn't so impressive but alk dry and clean. Thanks for the placement TheSeagnoid
Found with Trayc.g, logging now as I have my own account. Really really liked this one! I hope to come back with my own stamp soon. FP for you.
Down here for a couple of days shopping and caching. Before we left I saw a couple of letterboxes to find. Had been meaning to make up my own personal stamp so I drew a design up and got it made. It arrived a couple a days ago just in in time really. Arrrrrgh my stamp is too big for your log book!! Managed to stamp it ok-ish. TFTLB
I got very cheap flights to Wellington and back for the weekend, what a perfect excuse to come caching and find some that have been sitting on my to do list, and some more! A quick assault on the local letterboxes TFTC!!
After walking the Tongariro Crossing with daughter and son-in-law and seeing them off on their next leg of the Te Araroa Trail, we are spending a few days caching in the Manawatu area. Having spent a second night in our camper at the Ashhurst Domain, we headed for Fielding today to find the multitude of puzzle caches that have been published there over the last couple of years (and a few other cache types).
On our way to one puzzle Final we spotted the House that Ian built, and couldn't resist stopping to make the Letterbox find. Good spot for a cache, thanks.

#849 Just started to pay a bit more of an interest in letterboxing, so these two were on the agenda for today. Had some time to kill so headed out with JimmyNZ and DangerSAM in tow. Added a couple of stamps to my new letterboxing notebook. Very cool letterbox actual nearby and good parking available on this speedy road!. Cache nice and dry and in good order. Thanks Seagnoid.
Second stop of the day. We were having a very relaxed kind of day with not a lot going on. Inevitably it lead to a discussion on geocaching and then to Project GC. Gr33nslime has a thing for letterboxes at the moment, trying to get a gem out of them. So with nothing else to do this afternoon we banged DangerSAM into his DangerCapsule and boosted out to Milson Line on the other side of pamly. Gr33nslime nav'd and the cache was easy to spot. Also plenty of parking which is very important given how fast the muggles whiz past here. Great little cache.
Out with D6NZ to walk the sledge track today. First things first though, a few caches. Thought we would target the letter box caches this time. A few novelty postal receptors in the area and all easy access.
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
he plan for today is to grab a couple letter box caches south of Fielding and one North of Ashhurst and one more in Palmerston North before Heading off to walk the Sledge track on this find sunny day

Well we just happened to find the other house before this house that Ian built so was quite the WOW moment as the other house was. He's clever that Ian. TFTC #9558
Oops I'm getting just a tad confused and writing the wrong comment for the wrong cache. I guess technically you could say that the other house is the house that Ian built and this house is the other house that Ian built - - - but actually one must have the right comment with the right cache. Another very very cool hide. Thanks!
Let the Mega adventure begin! After spending the night in Fielding I spent the morning in Manawatu. I love the letter box near this geocache. I dropped off a geocoin and a TB.
Logged with GCDroid. Really loved the uniqueness of that letterbox and had to have a look inside but thankfully no mail for them today - well constructed. Cache was easilly found and as there was a bit of traffic around, made out that I was inspecting the object close by. Thanks for another one of your caches ticked off the list.
We found this cache quickly after two DNFs (yay!!) but missed the letterbox the first time round in the dark, and had to return to check it out after finding the other one up the road. Very creative, thanks for bringing us here!
