I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
This cache is ABSOLUTELY still there to be found!
Several years ago when I was last in Christchurch, I tried and failed to find this one; but I had the good fortune to be accompanied by Trifolia Argentea, who had found it in the intervening years and knew how it was hidden.
So, let me reiterate, this cache IS there. You just have to look in the right place, not be distracted by the cattle grid, and be ready to get your hands dirty.
TFTC!

We happened to driving past with Ilmari_the_Red. As previous finders we knew exactly where this cache is, and extracted it for him. Having DNFed it ourselves twice before we found it, we know it is not where anyone expects; but the cache IS there - in a hole in the mud embankment above the cattle grid. All in order, no maintenance needed, other than changing the hint to something that is not misleading, e.g., "hole in earth under grass, knee height above cattle grid".
Hi Bartfound
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.
Regards
TheCoddiwompler

We used this as a "go to" on our bike trip today. Looked in the obvious place according to hint and D/T rating but found nothing. Still raining and not a pleasant place to linger so time to move on. Now reading past logs, see that it's obviously an inaccurate D/T rating and misleading hint.
Thanks Bartfound for placing this cache however it was beyond my capability today...
Maybe it's so devious it should have a higher D-rating?
I certainly looked at places with higher than 1.5 T

Satellites had me consistently at least 4m north east of the northern side of the cattlestop.
Since the cache has been found we came with a determination that on this, our third visit, we would get it. Having poked around all the "likely" places we then enlarged the search beyond any of the man-made structures. Finally that strategy paid off. The hint is devious and suggests looking elsewhere. Well, we got there in the end. TFTC!
No working pen, arggggh! Will photo evidence do? Easy to find though, nice nook.
Our second visit here, and the second DNF. We had been encouraged by CateyesNZ's note from a few weeks ago. But wherever it is tucked away it does not appear to be anywhere indicated by the hint. We check all 4 posts, and felt along the edge of the cattle stop. But no. Sigh. The third DNF today.
Definitely there, having found it a couple of years ago I knew where to look and sure enough it is still tucked away in place!
I was here with a newish cacher this past week and we were not able to find this at all, but we also couldn't decide which side was right as it depends which way you are going. I found this some time ago but no bells rang. We had a good look.
Great day in Christchruch Area grabbing a few caches, the day was nice and hot. Thanks Bitsprayer
A beautiful frosty morning with some stunning views followed by a warm afternoon out on a caching mission with Surveybase to knock off some caches. Some challenging hides and a fair amount of gravy lost,. Thanks to all the CO's for maintaining these caches and sorry about the cut and past log. TFTC.
On a mission with Shannonp1 to clean up some Port Hills Caches. Had an awesome day but a big day. On our way before sunrise and the sun was setting on the Kaikouras on our way back down to the swamp. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches. A special thanks to the Chch MEGA team for all their effort on the DT series as well. Apologies for the bulk log.
Found it! On a family holiday from Wanaka to Hamner Springs, thought we’d stop off for a few geocaches along the way. TFTC
On our way home from finding a couple of caches and stopped to add this to our list. The views are indeed wonderful and used the opportunity to come down the newly opened road to Lyttleton and the the tunnel and home. Thanks for this cache Bartfound.
Our 4th & quick easy find on our journey to Lyttelton. Glad to say the stone was still in the pouch. I'm sure Gert would have liked this picturesque spot.
Just visited to check and to say hallo to my brother in law, Gert
He is ok and say “Hallo”
He is very sad for the 91 people shot , 50 are with him in heaven

Good coords and a hint that made sense with a decent gap deserving a cache but alas not one was found. Expanded search area and checked other options. D/T rating, cache size etc suggests it's gone. Owner may want to check.
Put Gert back into his cache after his trip to Auckland last year, back where you belong
We appreciated the sentiment but could not find the cache. The road was busy and the air cold so we didn't look for too long.
Our first geocache find by the whole family on our NZ trip together with Schlotte and Krecki.

Down in Christchurch for a couple of nights for work so took advantage of the lovely weather and spent a few hours this afternoon out caching for some golden oldies I've had my eye on for a while. Stopped for this one after a drive out to Godley. Had to really stretch to reach this one, but a good hiding spot. TFTC
Took time out for an afternoon drive out to Godley Heads and had several walks to find caches - a brilliant afternoon for it. The log here is full, TFTC

Found on a dog walk with couchsurfers.
Third time's a charm.
Now I see why I didn't find the cache the first two ones - probably because of the hint. Seems more confusing than helpful to me. Although as my DNF's are 2/3's of all of the ones on the listing, maybe it is not an issue.
Anyway, have a nice voyage, wherever you may roam, Gert!

We found this cache after a wonderful walk uphill from Sumner through the beautiful hills. The cache was nicely hidden and in good order.
Because of out pleasant route to this site, we give it a favo!

Found this geocache together with Gingerjames22. This is the place where he set free the Whales Journey travel bug on a travel to the Netherlands to me. And now we took it back here together Crazy to be here both, hopefully we can find loads of geocaches together

Second DNF on this elusive cache. Still can't understand which one is the "right" one as there are no points of reference given. Anyway, searched them all...

I needed to go find some caches - for my sanity! It had been too long since my last caching, and I really would like to clear out a whole bunch while on caching - I mean - maternity leave off work - but having a baby does tend to slow things down!!
So today I came out to try my luck here as I haven't been caching this way in years - but somehow the gale force winds made things pretty tough, as baby woke up, didn't want to stay in the car, but weather was too yuck to have her outside too much!
In the last spot I looked - of course!
TFTC!!

A cold wet day in Christchurch; out for coffee in Sumner and needed to find a suitable spot to drop off a Travel Bug I had picked up in Nelson last weekend. This cache fitted the bill perfectly, a great spot but couldn't really see any view to admire today! A nice quick find in the rain. Tftc.
Found with TregearP and Old Tom whilst revisiting this location which two of hadn't been back to for many years.
Quite cold with a brisk Southerly, but clear skies and great views.
All in good order, TNLNSL, TFTC.

After some shopping with my farther in law, SJT_NZ and Old Tom headed to Sumner for a lovely lunch and drove down to Godley Head, Old Tom's a very casual cacher but didn't mind SJT_NZ and I stopping a long the road for a few caches. This one a quick find and all in good nick. TFTC
A lovely day for a walk in the hills. Not too many people about today. This cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Stopped at the parking area down the road a bit for this one. One of the roads was closed. My wife debdunord and I searched for a number of minutes. My GPSr wasn't helping very much so I read the hint. My wife thought she saw something interesting and as I went to look saw something else and it was the cache. TFTC.
25/02/17 - Just got back to UK after 6 weeks in New Zealand during which time I found just over 500 caches. I'd didn't get time to log them all at the time so catching up now. A quick find here while friend to photos. TFTC
Took some time to find after taking the hint too literally at first. Had almost given up before a final searched exposed the cache.

17.00: On our way back to Christchurch. Another quick find at roadside, but this time tied to an interesting and heartwarming story. Nice views over to Banks Peninsula.
As this one marks our last cache on our 2016-journey across New Zealand: So from here we would like to say a great big THANK YOU! to all NZ-cachers for their ideas and effort in placing and maintaining all these caches. Once again we have thank all the contributors to the "NZ Open GPS Project" for their fine Garmin map and its excellent routing abilites.
Weather: overcast, 17°C;
Wheelchair: no problem, close enough to view;
State: all good.
IN & OUT: nothing.
Thank you for showing us this place!

My first Cache in NZ, and also introduced Craig to geocaching.
A beautiful day for caching! And what a place!
Thanks for hiding!
