walk with grandkids and lots of crabbing an shells.
Managed to get to the island without mud or wet shoes. We read the last log but there has been a big project to clear gorse since. A substantial improvement but may mean the cache is gone. There was a blue rubber on the ground which appeared to be the seal of a systema!
We have talked about this cache on several occasions when we have been taking our grandkids to the nearby mountain bike park, but we have never struck a low enough tide or we have been in a vehicle that we did not want three muddy children in. So an early start was called for to maximise the low tide. I had read the previous logs that indicated it could be a muddy experience. Gumboots on ready for the mud. I surveyed the area before making an attempt to get over to the island. I must have chosen my course well as I got over there and back with nothing more than a little bit of water on my boots.
The cache was sitting completely exposed on the grass area, so once I signed the log I popped it near to the base of a tree amongst the trees on the outer area. I looked around the stump but could not see anywhere that it could be without being totally visible, and given that there is a orienteering control there, chances are this area gets quite a few visitors (at times). Hope this is ok. If not let me know as I will be back in the area again soon and I can go back and move it again.
Plenty of gorse and evidence of rabbits on the island, so when I do bring the grandkids over to 'treasure island' I will make sure they have their gumboots on.
Thanks for placing this cache and for the smilie

Staying in the nearby campground.... such a cool place here. We spent a couple of hours on the mt bike park with friends teenage boys having loads of fun... and no caching. But on the way back I noticed the low tide here. So a quick change of shoes and I wandered across the mud to this cache. Too much gorse around here so was pleased for jandals- even tho I could still feel the thorns on the feet. Located cache - but was too wet to sign.

Not recommended to go looking for it in bare feet, even if it is near a beach. Was all good until the last obstacle of baby gorse.
Easy find but logbook completely wet and no container just a sealed bag. TFTC an greetings from Germany
After today‘s heavy rain, we found this cache or - to be more exact - we found it in parts. We couldn‘t find a container, only the logbook which was completely wet.
Had lots of fun talking like pirates while walking over. Cache is very wet and was sitting exposed and in a very obvious spot, not sure if it was spose to be there? Tree trunk rotting away, orienteering sign snapped off but sitting. Thanks!
Having collected the item our trip was in aid of today, this cache was just too close to miss. With the tide out, a short stroll across to the 'island' and a quick find was made. tftc
Arr, ye landlubbers! 'tis treasure be no match for me, matey! I swung on board to grab 'tis hoard, no smugglers be in th' way. Gone findin' me parrot in the jungle right after, th' beast flewn off in a breeze.
Lucky me to be in the area at low tide. With it just starting to rain there's very few people around today. Thanks for brining me to a cool spot I've never been and TFTC
Our target area today was Kaiteriteri and the surrounding area. This was our first cache since it was low tide which made for an easy access. It was a quick and easy find and we were back at the car just a few minutes after we left it.
Thank you onerealkiwi.
Thank you onerealkiwi.
A beautiful spring day after a frosty start made it an easy decision to do some caches in Kaiteri before the silly season starts. This cache was planned for later in the day but the tide was perfect so it became our first find. Shoes are certainly a prerequisite on the island. Thank you onerealkiwi
Great adventure across the mudflats. Treasure was in tatters, so we replaced with some true pirate booty, arrr!
Been coming to Kaiterteri for years and never been on this island. What a cool wee place. A favourite because of this.
Paddle chick and I went over to kaiteri to do some caching . I dropped paddle chick off so she could walk the cycle trail to get few caches. As the tide was out I thought I would see if I could find this one .A quick find . Tftc. There was supposed to be a trackable in this cache but there was none.
Not quite where co ords took me. But found it anyway.
Low tide and gummys was the way to get there.
Thanks.

Thanks.
Got up earlier than my mates at The Lodge this morning, lo and behold the tide was out and so squelched over to the island for some plundering. AAAAARRRRRRRR tftc
It's always a bit exciting to walk to an island, with the added challenge of a returning tide (we could visibly see its sneaking progress).
The downside of the island was the prickles underfoot. I do think that some gorse control is needed here!
...but cache was soon in hand, but there was no TB to be seen.

Quick find while out on a mountain bike ride from Riwaka through the awesome track. 2nd find on this island TFTC
Once in a lifetime we wanted to travel to the other side of the world. This year we took a chance and made a 4 weeks trip to New Zealand! Although caching was not the main purpose, we had our GPS prepared and when we were close to a cache, we of course looked for it and logged it. So we found several dozens of "kiwi-caches" and want to thank all the owners!!
Arrrr - I seee dublons! Stamping throu' deep mud in dawn we arrived at treasure island an' found se trrreasure. Than's forr placing!

Found with odgersaj back when I first started and didn't understand the app/have a prem account - now I do though! Thank you!!
We have been on a road trip trough New Zealand for 25 days. We found this cache during an evening stroll in Kaiteriteri. I really should have taken the short way from the east shore of the inlet. The way from the southwest shore was quite difficult.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
Staying near here so checked the tide table to see when the best time to hit it was. Picked right and an easy find. Tftc
Had a nice wee adventure on a pleasant evening during low tide with kids. TFTC
Nice easy one to locate, although might not be where it should be. Kids loved all the little items on there. Off to the next
Was visiting the area with family and noticed that the tide was out which mean a short wander to this cache was in order. Couldn't make sense of the hint but the cache was found after a short search. Thanks for the cache.
The tide was just right today so we took a walk to Treasure Island. Found the cache quickly just where we thought it would be. We hail from an island a long way from here so didn't really understand the hint. Thanks for the cache.
Number 16 in NZ
A lot of traces lead into the vegetation but if you look around and not only at your GPS it's very easy.

I had logged this cache on 08/11/2015
with the JojoCaco pseudo (now Jojojeux), during our trip in New Zealand. I log now with my own account, created after we splitted our team. Tftc !

Found it but the logbook is wet. Maybe it's because too many object inside the box
After a trip to the beautiful Abel Tasman Nationalpark I changed from hiking shoes to sneakers, which was not the best idea for searching this chache after a quick find we tried a shorcut back which was very, very muddy and the mud got into my shoes TFTC
Found this one after our boat tour and walk through Abel tasman national park. Thanks to the low tide getting to the cache was easy, but the coordinates were a bit off on my Galaxy S5 so I got to know the local flora
After extending the search radius it was an easy find
On our way back to the beach we chose a slightly worse path which got a bit muddy at the end nevertheless : TFTC!

Really nice location for a cache. Getting up onto the island was a bit soggy, because of all the mud, but I made it. Found the cache quickly. Tnx for this one!
Wow what a great spot. Pleased I elected to put my gummies on as it was still quite gluggy at low tide. Nice easy find and greatful to find a pen in the container as it appears I've lost my second pen of the day since the last cache, that's why I carry so many spares in the car Thanks for the cache

Would definitely recommend to NOT wear jandals....ouch, ouch, ouch.....a couple of the juniors braved the final part of the walk to GZ....was cursing myself for not bringing a pen but luckily Miss Junior found a pen in the cache - Yay!! A cool little adventure walk while the tide was right....TFTC
Very prickly spot not helped by the GPS leading me into the worst of them , then geocaching sensibility prevailed and the cache was found. Beautiful part of the country to be visiting and next time here will be more prepared to find more treasure troves.
Wow, painful cache but great location. Thought my jandals would stand up to prickles but maybe not! Advice to future finders, take some trainers! Beautiful part of the world, stopping in KTT for the night en route to picton ferry. The cache was wet and no writing implement but drained it out . Log book is fine
Ouch ouch ouch prickles, they have been cut and now lying on the ground. Never mind, we got what we came for. thanks.
Found this one with Uncle Mark during a walk from the main camp to Bethany Park and back!
Out caching with Macdups. Master Macdup (my grandson) helped me to find this one, as he has been here before. Thanks for the cache.
Wonderful cache location! We took the opportunity to walk through the stream all the way to the beach. Refreshing!
Thanks from Austria!

Island caches seem popular in the Tasman area and we were lucky that we were in Kaiteriteri a few hours before low tide so were able to walk across and got just a little muddy.
A bit ouchy walking the last few metres to the cache in our sandals as there were lots of baby gorse bushes sprouting everywhere. Cache was a quick find in the obvious spot and in good condition too. Grabbed TB. Now, just one more cache to find and that's a round 20 for the day. Thanks for the cache and the adventure.

#8676. We decided to take advantage of the low tide (there was no water to wade through, and just a little mud). TFTC.
What an awesome place for a cache! We'd had a superb day on the beach and up to Tonga Quarry on the boat with the family. When we got back it was low tide, so while Mr RW helped get three tired but happy grandkids back to the campsite, the much more piratical Mrs charted a course for Treasure Island. X, or rather a certain number, marked the spot and there was the treasure. A great spot to release into the wild our new penguin TB, Mags's Little Pal. Safe travels, guy! TFTC. A favourite point well earned!
