A sneaky hide, but I spotted it quickly. Stopped to take a pic of the crazy house on a pole. I remember watching an episode of the cooking show 'Boys Weekend' (Series 1, Episode 3) filmed in that house. TNLNSL TFTC

Hanging around travelling the Great Ocean and picking up a few caches after the Mega event.
I used to stay down here every summer as a kid and when this house popped up one year it was a big talking point. Interesting piece of architecture.
Nice quick find.

We picked which caches we would target on our way home as there were too many to do them all...

In what will likely become an annual tradition next year at this rate, for the second Victorian Mega in a row, landau351 and I teamed up to attempt this year's batch of Lab caches. It worked out pretty well, as between us, we had in our possession all the toys, er, tools required to get the information we needed at each one.
Oh, and we picked up a passel of extra smileys in our travels. This was one.
It's been a while since I've ventured past this, one of the most memorable sights along the Great Ocean Road. I spent my childhood in Anglesea, staying in our caravan almost every school holidays from the age of five, and we watched this platform being constructed. It's still a spectacular sight, some 40 odd years later.
Oh, and I'll never forget seeing this still standing at Easter in '83 while almost all the other buildings around it were blackened ruins.
Today, we parked a little up the road from the coordinates, strolled back and I immediately spotted something unusual. Aha!
Thanks to ThePacman for the cache and the trip down memory lane.

Apart from the naked guys who just finished surfing. This was a quick find. Thanks for the cache.
Find #1328. We have long been fascinated by this house and we're excited to find a cache right out front. Thanks ThePacman for a fun hide.
Found this cache on Sunday the third day of my Surf Coast Mega Adventure. Todays goal was to team up with ikkibrady to go and find the remaining lab caches that have been put out for the Mega before they disappear (hooray we managed to get them all), so along the way we decided to pick up some geocaches when and where we can. Spending the morning caching with Ikkibrady and his family was fun and we all loved finding each cache to, therefore I would like to say thanks for the cache and the adventure down on the brilliant Surf Coast.
A sunday drive down the coast line with Skullracing picking up LAB caches and DazzPete didn't have a smiley for this one. Driven past the house a handful of times over the years but didn't realise it was built in the 70s.

Day three of our SCE weekend...
I first saw this house soon after in was built and have only been down this end of the state a couple of times since, the last visit being almost 20 years ago.
Today the cache was a very quick find as a group of surfers returned to their vehicles right at GZ. They were intrigued at what I was doing but, no doubt, thought I was just a little strange. Just like surfing in 15 deg weather and a howling wind is totally normal.
Thank you, ThePacman, for this cache.

Heading down to the furthest on the Lab cache list, I was telling my boys about the house on a pole and out of curiousity thought I would see if there was a cache. WOW ... look there is. We would drive past this quite often as a child and it was nice to finally do the same with my children. On a side note. I must thank The Pacman for helping me out with the chirp at Anglesea. and I now have my device working to one day come and do your wonderful whereigos in Geelong. A very happy stop for us. Thank you.
I'm over from New Zealand for 4 days to do some geocaching and to attend the Surf Coast Mega Event in Anglesea. On my 2nd day I met up with yorkshirekiwi83 in Melbourne and we headed down to Anglesea together. This was a quick find while we made our way around the Surf Coast area looking for the Mega Event Lab caches. TFTC!

I love a cache that teaches you something and I stopped and wondered about this house in the years before I was caching.

A quick and easy find in the company of mcsee&petal, while we were in the area for The Surf Coast Event 2016. This house must be one of the most iconic features of the entire GOR. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Surf Coast Mega Anglesea 2016
We collected these caches either as part of a group assault during the Mega Hawaii 8.0 or just Mr & Mrs Bee whilst traveling around seeing the sights of your fine countryside.
Group assaults occured with the South Aussie invasion of Travellinbees, Snappy Tom Cats, Tomboy711, we joined forces with the local mexicans from Victoria TR!, and Snap Happy. This made the phenomeal team of Hawaii 8.0 we also had Team Sully & honey sucker join us on a number of caches.
We saw beaches, walked up hills, sat in local parks, walked through bushland, gardens and general beautiful countryside.
We have thoroughly enoyed our short caching trip over here on the Surf Coast, we based ourselves in Anglesea in a nice house sharing with four other teams. Being local helped us enjoy the weekend even more.
We climbed fences, crossed rivers, climbed tree's and hopped around like gooses, we collected many smilies while on this trip and we collected many new friends.
Geocaching has given us many pleasures and this cache was one of them. Thanks to each and every team for placing caches for us to find during our short visit.

Found with The Empire as we journeyed around the area today, collecting smileys in between our main mission of doing the Lab caches. Not quite sure if I could live in this, oft seen it featured on TV and been past here previously, but it's not my cup of tea for a retreat. The uninterrupted views would be breathtaking, but I'll stick with my house. Loved the area, the views, the colours of Autumn and the interesting spots we came across during the day, many worthy of photos. My thanks to The Pacman for the cache, the informative and interesting stats, and for highlighting this spot and bringing us here today.
The "Pole House" is certainly an iconic structure. Although we are infrequent travellers on this road, we always look for the house and comment on aspects of its unusual design. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks ThePacman for the cache.

#6039 - 19:31; Day 3 of the Melbourne Mega Mission with Sol de lune had arrived and we were now in Anglesea with a host of assembled cachers taking part in the 2016 Surf Coast Mega. Our plan was to collect a couple of caches around town early, visit Mega HQ then hit a local trail and see how we ended up for the day. We finished most of the G2Anglesea trail, just finished the last of the resident lab caches and were headed back towards Anglesea. Noticed the namesake house on the way down and stopped for a happy snap on the way back. Grabbed this cache while we were stopped. TFTC The Pacman

2604 14 of 74 for days 3 & 4 of the Mega weekend with Tankengine & mtrax.
Days 3 & 4 of the mega Mega trip to the Surfcoast event at Anglesea Vic. The event dodged a bullet as the forecast was for rain periods Saturday & Sunday. Saturday was shower free, so all good there. I wanted to do the Geelong parkrun in the morning, so I dropped mtrax & TE off at the start of a nearby power trail & they were quite happy to grab those on foot. In the mean time ducked up to Geelong & ran 5Km. They managed to walk 5km in the mean time so no problems there. Then we headed back to the mega event, checked in & met up with various cachers. We decided to focus on the lab caches which was very interesting for a notice mega-attendee like me. We managed to claim all 10 during the day as well as a bunch of others. There were other cachers at most of the sites we visited, so that was good too.
Sunday can be summed up in one word: wet. We headed off home to Canberra via our overnight at Albury via Bendigo. We got quite wet a number of times accessing caches, sometimes in long grass. Overall, an entertaining day's caching.
Amazing house above us.

Came down from Canberra with Mtrax and Strangetrousers (and half the other Canberra cachers it seems ) for the Anglesea mega event, and naturally did a whole lot of caches around here as well! This was a straightforward find. What a crazy house - would have cost a dollar or two! Thanks TP.
Decided I was going to head over to the Surf Coast Mega event for this weekend with Vistra, so in the days leading up to it we were working out what we wanted to achieve. this wasnt part of the plan, but we had teamed up with a couple of ozzie girls to work on the lab caches and this was on route. Also gave this a fav point as it was well constructed and in a beautiful spot. TFTC

Down in Anglesea for the Surfcoast Mega tomorrow, so we spent today cruising the coast and enjoying a small handful of nice locations and caches. We have seen all sorts of media presentations about this house so it was good to have a nice little stopover point (and cache) so we could see it in person. Not sure we can afford to stay the night though TFTC Pacman.
When the location of the Surf Coast Event was announced, we decided to book our accommodation from the Thurs- Monday so we could have an extended stay in this lovely area. About a month ago GMelb found out he had to attend a conference in Canberra including the Thursday!!! Consequently we didnt arrive until 11pm Thursday night after GMelb had flown home & we then drove down! So we had a nice sleep in this morning before setting off to explore west of the Event site.
Mid afternoon by now and JMelb has memories of seeing this house on family holidays when she was young. It really is very iconic. She also saw the renovated version not so long ago on Better Homes and Gardens. Wonderful that the house withstood so many fires! Would love to stay a night or 2 there but at $500+ per night..... lol

A weekend down the coast with Leetalicious had us grabbing a few caches while enjoying this Great part of the world. A quick find by LL here and a fitting hide supporting the theme here too. Everyone remembers this house, thanks for paying tribute to it Joe, adding a fave
Headed to this beautiful area with Bogonghazy for a couple of quick days away. Taking a lovely drive to the first part of the Great Ocean Road and stopped to get caches along the way. Found this one pretty quickly just as muggles stopped to admire the pole home. Thanks for giving me another one ticked off and sending me to this lovely part of the country.
The perfect cache! It sits in a nice location. It gives me an interesting story. The camo is great. It doesn't have me sift through garbage or vermin. +favo
Had a great hiking day on the distillery trail, then a swim. Not so warm today, my feet were aching, but warm enough to dry up in the wind. Then a few caches, this one being the crown. And also the southern most I have been, I believe.

Now this one is getting a favourite. Pulled up right beside the cache, loved the hide, very cool. Sneaky Camo. Just passing through driving Sydney to Perth, great one to pick up quickly and that's one house on a pole!
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! We are currently on the first section of our journey, which started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island. We are currently on the last leg to Melbourne having driven via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. From Melbourne we head to Tasmania for a few days, then back to Melbourne before setting off to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
We found this one after a brief search. What an interesting house. As it has survived three fires it's surprising that more home builders haven't followed their lead! Thanks so much for the cache.

On our way from Apollo Bay to Torquay. We were looking forward to seeing the house on a pole and finding the cache due to the high number of favourite points. We were lucky to make a quick find as the camo on the cache had fallen off making it easy to spot. We signed the log and returned the cache and tried our best to replace the camo. A favourite point from us for the location and the excellent cache container. TFTC
On our way from from a great weekend with friends at Kennett river we decided to drive along the coast. This house has always amazed us. Nice easy find thanks for the cache
Taking on the great ocean road and the otways for the weekend. A very crafty hide, it kept us baffled for a bit. TFTC the pacman.
