Didn't linger long here, sorry no joy, nothing obvious

Dash! I was t planning on these dnfs but 3 in a row here. No sign at all for me. It’s getting late in the day. My oomph is lagging a bit!

Hmmmm . . . With such a specific hint I expected this to be easy. However, I couldnt even locate the hint objects despite an ever widening search. I decided to leave this until the return walk to my car, but no luck the second time either.

First time walker here and forgot my pen, I was to eager to see the few and get some
Caches. Hope this suffices Smile

For me it was opposite #27. Nice find here. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC

01-Apr-21
Reasonably quick find based on the coords, and the knees of a very tall person! No idea what the rest of the hint means, though.

Found during a trip on the P2P track with brucewwnz
See log for P2P - Muri Station GC6DKXY for more if interested

The last time I walked this track it was unfinished, and half the caches on the portion that we could walk were sitting there unpublished as we walked past. As such, I breezed past the first 10 on the track before reaching this- surprisingly, well before the beginning of the stairs. TFTC

09-Jan-21
Had to backtrack a bit to get the hint to work, also had to let mobs of muggles pass by before we could start poking about. A quick find when the path was clear. TFTC

7th find today of 21 I am hoping to locate. Quick find. Phone GPS had me at exactly the right place before I had worked out what the hint meant. TFTC.

I was asked to join TwigNZ and ThatWeirdGuy on the Te Araroa Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay escarpment walkway today. It was a glorious day with minimal wind and we set off hopeful to find all 32 caches available on the trail.

After driving to Paekakariki then catching the train to Pukerua Bay we headed off on the trail at 9am. I was thankful to find all 32 caches (with help from the team) and finished the walk in 4 hrs 20 minutes. Logs were signed as Team STT (stardust718, TwigNZ, ThatWeirdGuy).

After 3.5 hrs on the trail my brain and body were getting tired. This one should have been very easy but 'That Weird Guy' pointed it out before I had got myself sorted to find it. Container and contents all in good condition.

Thanks to the CO for this trail and encouraging me to get out and explore more local(ish) trails.

10-Aug-19
It was a fairly long walk form my previous stop as I was passing caches that I had found on my previous walk on what existed of the trail back in 2016. This was a cache that was missing then so I was pleased to put things right with a quick find today.

I know Mr Yeetrees is tall, but 'knee high' is understating things slightly! A much appreciated quick find, once I looked properly. Have a FP for the series... TFTC

No rock near path by 29, and I wasn't going to climb up to see if it was higher up - looked too unsafe

A few weeks ago my boss in Wellington sent out a notice that our Unit was going to do the Paekakariki Escarpment Track as a Team Building exercise. As a keen geocacher I knew the track had a few caches on it but even I was surprised when I saw there were over 30. That made it a must do, but how could I justify the airfares from Blenheim. I know, there is some training that I need to do and the options were to send me to Wellington to do it or send the trainer to Blenheim. Guess what option I chose.

So yesterday morning I flew to Wellington to do the training. I turned up to discover the server was down so sat around chewing the fat with some of the Wellington team. Eventually the IT boffins got the server up and running and being the quick learner that I am, I managed to complete the training before knock off.

That gave me time to do the Rata Street loop track behind Naenae after work. Not ideal tramping around in the wet bush after the recent rain which continued sporadically while I was out there.

Today a group of about twenty five of us of varying ages and fitness meet at Pukerua Bay station and headed north. the trip got off to a bad start with a DNF at the first, and another four since then.

I took a while to find this one until I expanded my search range. I may have miscounted though as I discovered it bccbfvgr 27, not 29.

Only a couple of sheep seen, and some Tui. The geckos and skinks remained elusive. Luckily this cache wanted to be found.

Thanks for the hide Yeetrees Big Grin

A quick and easy find on a nice walking day. I've been meaning to do this walkway for a while now. Thanks

Today we moved lodging from Lower Hutt to Plimmerton. We cached on the way and did a great walk from Paekakeriki to Pukerua Bay. Signed the cache logs as Ms+Mr KR.

Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

16-Oct-18
Third time on this track but first time looking for caches here!
Had limited time so started at Paekak, walked to the top and came back down the same way. All caches along the way were easy enough finds with good co-ords and hints Smile
TFTC!

Finally, a day where both jgirl1880 and I found ourselves rostered off on a day where the sun was shining and the wind was minimal. A perfect opportunity for us to tick the escarpment track off our "to walk" list. An amazing walk with views better than I had imagined. I can't wait to do this walk again!

19-Aug-18
Checked cache and logbook all good here

15-Jul-18
A year and a half ago I did the escarpment walk with the family; there were too many people to cache, and the family is too impatient to stop every 161m. I came back today, in the middle of winter and starting early (in the dark at 6am) to avoid as many other walkers as possible. I did the walk out-and-back, doing the caching on the way out; it took 3 and a half hours to get to the rail bridge. The trip back was an hour and a half with no stops, but it did include a detour round the kohekohe loop.

This original half the series, the northern half, do seem to be easier finds than those on the new part of the track. Though I have to confess I am becoming less of a fan of the rolled logs - it seems to take as long to unroll and reroll them as it does to get here! TFTC though - #19 of the day.

Went for a walk from pukarua Bay to paekakariki. Stunning view along the way. Some caches were slightly wet, others more difficult to find. Great walk tftc

Walking along the trail with my girlfriend on a windy day when we stopped for a break.
I noticed a suspicious looking hide, thought I'd look out of curiosity and lo and behold I had a geocache in hand!
Thanks for the surprise cache!

On the way north to Palmerston North and Rotorua for Christmas. Walked onto the ferrry, then picked up a car at Upper Hutt from a fellow geocacher (a saving of $240 from not having to carry it on the ferry). Drove to Pukerua Bay and abandoned it there. Now walking to Paekakariki to pick up a train.

Hey - thanks for that bit in the cache description explaining what a bridge is. I always did wonder!

Wow, the P2P trail. What a day! After parking the car at Paekakariki and walking to the start of the trail we decided to take our time, we took a little too much time though. After starting the trail at roughly 11 am we had finally gotten off of the trail by 5 pm. We had some good luck finding caches but towards the end, I think TwigNZ and I gave up on the last few.
Nice quick easy find here.

The Paekakariki Escarpment Track had been high on my 'to do' list for quite some time, ever since it opened. Back in July we tackled it for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, although at the time we did it as part of a group of Inline Hockey kids (and parents) so we didn't attempt to do any Geocaching on that trip, but promised ourselves that we would come back and do it again as a Geo excursion.

So today was that day. Good stable weather meant that there were quite a few people on the track which made for some interesting times when trying to hunt without attracting attention from Muggles, or 'Pineapples' as was our code word for the day lol.

I have to admit, that whilst I figured the trip would take longer than the previous time, I wasn't expecting to take almost 6 hours to complete the trail. We started from the North with a hiss and a roar, hoping to have zero DNF's for the day, but we encountered a few genuine DNF's (as in we genuinely think they are missing) and towards the end we had more and more DNF's simply due to tiredness from the heat and a bit of a loss of enthusiasm, but our thanks go to Yeetrees for setting up all these Caches, even though some of the hints left us thinking “you're kidding right???” But this trail enabled us to fill in a few D/T chart 'dots' too, so thanks again.

I apologise in advance for the generic log, but there was no way I would have been able to write up each Cache as I went along, so am logging them now in bulk (sort of)

Quick and easy find, although even after finding the Cache we still didn't understand the numerical reference in the Hint. Signed the log as "T & T" for myself and my son (Thatweirdguy04).

Thanks for the Cache

Walking southwards, the day turned out beautiful and sunny. Thanks for the caches, it was a great introduction for two new cachers I was with, and certainly inspired us to keep racing along the trail to the next one.

Trained out here for Friday walk with Meetup group, and introduced them to caching. No probs finding this time, thanks for replacing & cache Yeetrees!

This series was found and logged over two weekends Smile The first round was over the labour weekend and the second round to weeks later. Some caches were easy finds, others were hidden well and I and JoshThePirate had to search for a while. Thanks for the caches along this nice walk way [^] Logbook singed with C.M. + JTP.

This series of caches has been on my hit list for the last few days but because of nasty weather it was put off until today. The idea was to catch a train from Plimmerton, where my caravan is parked, to Paekakariri but the trains weren't running so caught a replacement bus. I had a bit of a walk from the train station, where the bus dropped me off to the start of the track.

Didn't see any 29.

Cheers for the cache.

It's quite likely there but we just couldn't get a muggle free run to have a look! There are only so many times you can 'have a drink' or get a 'stone' out of your shoe before you really just have to move on Smile

Our last cache & so disappointed not to find - searched for 20mins & had the clue sorted from all angles but unable to 'post' a positive result. Guess we need to come back when this is replaced. Thank you for bringing us all here Yeetrees - an enjoyable walk

28-Jan-17
I think we interpreted the hint correctly and had a good feel around, but no luck here for us.

14-Jan-17
After that subtle dig from Jodanz I figured I'd better redeem myself by avenging this DNF. As it was my only DNF on the Paekakariki side of the walkway I had to make a special trip to get it - which I did as I was returning from Raumati. It's generally flattish terrain to get to it from Paekakariki so a quick jog got me there quite quickly. On arrival I pointlessly rechecked where I looked before before realizing I needed to think about what I was doing wrong. Upon re-reading the hint there was a crucial piece of information that I missed - after which I found it in a few seconds.

08-Jan-17
Found in a few seconds which was a bit surprising given the DNF of the last cacher.

It's probably in there somewhere but I couldn't find it.

#3098. I was at the Mana Island photoshoot event this morning and meet up with Chris (Yeetrees) who said he was off to walk this track. He wanted to check up on the caches along here to see if any had been affected by the earthquakes and heavy rain in November. He asked if I wanted to join him. I wasn't sure as I had to have the car back home by 3pm. But Chris thought we would have the walk completed by lunchtime. Well that might have been a bit optimistic. I would allow 4-5 hours one way stopping to find all the caches and then catch the train back to your car. The weather was glorious and sunny today with light winds. Chris said I needed to count the posts along the walkway so I started doing so and was so intent on doing this task that I missed seeing the container sitting in a rather exposed place. The cache also seemed to be sitting a couple of posts back from where the hint indicated. Signed the dry logbook and replaced the cache closer to where it should have been hidden. Thanks for hiding another cache along the walkway.

In town to watch my Daughter play at the Keith Urban concert and such a beautiful day we couldn't resist doing this walk although with limited time we only did the few caches we could find basically straight away, this is such a great walk that it we will do again next time down this way and get the rest.
We parked at Pukerua bay station and trained to Paikakariki and walked back.
Didn't need hint for this .

Find #2598. A cool showery southerly in Wellington but sheltered and fine on the coast. Parked the car at Paekakariki Station with a bunch of other walkers and caught the train to Pukerua Bay. Took the shorter route via the main highway to the start of the track. Had done this walk in the opposite direction a few weeks ago when it was so busy you could liken it to the Tongariro Crossing. Much quieter today apart from the large group from Marton behind me. Enjoyed the views, swing bridges and steep climbs and descents.
Last one for me of this series as had found the others on the rest of the track last year.
Very much looking forward to the CO completing the trail with caches to the Pukerua Bay end.TFTC
