By this point I contemplated turning around and coming back on another day with more cache-focused walking buddies, as my company today was not very keen to spend too long hunting around for caches (muggles, huh..). The title of this cache was a nice little note that there was no point in turning around now. A beautiful spot for sure, but the cache itself was far enough off the path for me to end up feeling pretty unsafe grabbing this one.

Another find on this ANZAC afternoon walk - and scramble! Cache is in good order. TFTC
A gorgeous hot afternoon out on the Escarpment. Could see where this cache would be, but getting to it easier said than done! All good, tftc!
Yikes- as if I hadn’t climbed enough already. Whew- very satisfied smiley face here. Many thanks
Thanks for placing these caches along Te Araroa Yeetrees
Spotted the hint object and clambered up...
We walked the Escarpment Nth to Sth in hot calm summer weather and found a few caches too!

Walking the escarpment with Ms M. An almost perfect day. No wind, fabulous views and unusually humid. Earned my terrain rating here. I wouldn’t want any more moisture on the grass.
Half way? To where?

Currently we're staying with my brother (tbird53) whilst we're on holiday, and today we walked along this escarpment. I thoroughly enjoyed it and we picked up some of the caches on the way but not all of them. Maybe next time!! TFTC and the series
One of a number of caches located during the escarpment walk today on a superb November day. Already found more than half the caches along here, but this was a good chance to pick up a few more. Fortunately it seemed pretty obvious where this one was going to be. Quite an effort to get to it though! #4354. TFTC.
With lots of spring grass and a HUGE amount of rain overnight this sure was a slipperyone to access. I certainly appreciated the easy find once I got there. TFTC
I am getting closer to Wellington every day and this is a milestone as I only have a few days be for I get back to the north island .

Awesome climb to get this one! A stunning light display on the ocean at the same time! Found the loner then found the cache. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Found during a trip on the P2P track with brucewwnz
See log for P2P - Muri Station GC6DKXY for more if interested
Notable because I slipped on the dry grass coming back down to the track and later found I had lost my pen Darn!
Thanks Yeetrees

Hooley Dooley - this one took a bit longer than I would have liked. We poked around the wrong spot for a while before realising where the hint really wanted us to go. The 14YO offered to get amongst it and grab it, he chucked it to me to sign and I hiffed it back up for him to put back in it's home TFTC
On our way to the South Island and had some time to spare. Did the walk up to the Look out and enjoyed the spectacular views. Not a cloud in sight. Nice viewing the snow capped mountains on the other side of the straits. Hope to be there tomorrow. Thanks for the hide and a more straight forward hint.
10th find today of 21 I am hoping to locate. Quick find. Check the hint, there's one on its own! TFTC.
Enjoyed the climb up to this cache... But the descent to the trail was another matter.
Bit of a mission to get to this one. The clue makes it very obvious as to where you should look but be prepared to get on your hands and feet
I was asked to join TwigNZ and ThatWeirdGuy on the Te Araroa Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay escarpment walkway today. It was a glorious day with minimal wind and we set off hopeful to find all 32 caches available on the trail.
After driving to Paekakariki then catching the train to Pukerua Bay we headed off on the trail at 9am. I was thankful to find all 32 caches (with help from the team) and finished the walk in 4 hrs 20 minutes. Logs were signed as Team STT (stardust718, TwigNZ, ThatWeirdGuy).
Straight forward find here for our experienced team. Containers and contents were all in good condition. Log signed and replaced.
Thanks to the CO for this trail and encouraging me to get out and explore more local(ish) trails.

A bit of a scramble to get to this that I hadn't been expecting. It seemed pretty obvious where I needed to go though. I didn't see the cache at first but then noticed it had rolled away from where it should have been.
Another one where I left the pack by the track and gingerly inched my way towards it... If you can't spot it at first, try looking on the other side! TFTC
What a nice hike. I really enjoyed it. Quite challenging cache!

Found this while walking the Te Araroa track with Flowerydaze. Lovely day for this walk with cloudless skies and little wind. Flowerydaze was up for the challenge to locate this one. Nice hide, TFTC.
Talla64 and I have been looking forward to walking the whole of this track. When the first half of the track opened at the Paekakariki end, some years ago, we were quick to try it out and thoroughly enjoyed the walk to the top (where it ended at the time) and back to Paekakariki.
A year or so later a dozen or so caches appeared, so off we went again to find them all. Since that time the whole track has been finished and we've been waiting to complete this great walk. Today was the day, no wind, very pleasant conditions. Some of the caches were easy finds, some required quite a bit of effort. Some were DNF's and one was a DNA (did not attempt).
Thanks for placing all these caches Yeetrees, I apologise for the cut and paste logs. We had a great day. Highly recommended.

First cache on this amazing walk. Boxing Day adventures!!
Will need to repeat this walk a few times to find all the caches.

A few weeks ago my boss in Wellington sent out a notice that our Unit was going to do the Paekakariki Escarpment Track as a Team Building exercise. As a keen geocacher I knew the track had a few caches on it but even I was surprised when I saw there were over 30. That made it a must do, but how could I justify the airfares from Blenheim. I know, there is some training that I need to do and the options were to send me to Wellington to do it or send the trainer to Blenheim. Guess what option I chose.
So yesterday morning I flew to Wellington to do the training. I turned up to discover the server was down so sat around chewing the fat with some of the Wellington team. Eventually the IT boffins got the server up and running and being the quick learner that I am, I managed to complete the training before knock off.
That gave me time to do the Rata Street loop track behind Naenae after work. Not ideal tramping around in the wet bush after the recent rain which continued sporadically while I was out there.
Today a group of about twenty five of us of varying ages and fitness meet at Pukerua Bay station and headed north. the trip got off to a bad start with a DNF at the first, and another three more recently. I think I am losing my caching mojo and am in need of a QEF to get it back. The hint directed me to the right area, (what do the muggles think we are doing up here if they see us), but I could not initially find the cache. Looking further afield, I saw the cache had slid down the hill a bit so after signing the log, replaced as I thought it should be on the uphill side of the 'ybare'... Mojo back.

With rebel98, following this amazing trail
Our muggle companions have been very patient with all these stops. Spotted the loner, and up I went. They were a little concerned by some of the terrain I was on, but the up is the easy bit, its the coming down that can cause a few challenges.
As written between the last two caches I lost a pen..... grrrr hate littering. Tried to find it, but...... so to the next cacher its a good one, writes on anything.
Thanks for the hide Yeetrees

Spotted where we should be after we walked beyond. Sent ste up for the cache. Tftc.
A quick and easy find on a nice walking day. I've been meaning to do this walkway for a while now. Thanks
Today we moved lodging from Lower Hutt to Plimmerton. We cached on the way and did a great walk from Paekakeriki to Pukerua Bay. Signed the cache logs as Ms+Mr KR.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

Third time on this track but first time looking for caches here!
Had limited time so started at Paekak, walked to the top and came back down the same way. All caches along the way were easy enough finds with good co-ords and hints

How appropriate in Maori language week to walk the Te Araroa Escarpment Walk and pick up a few caches along the way. There are so many that to do all would have taken too long and so it was a case of find one and then miss some.
The loner was almost left alone when I realised another excursion was needed after getting to this point but some things you've just gotta do. Thanks Yeetrees

A year and a half ago I did the escarpment walk with the family; there were too many people to cache, and the family is too impatient to stop every 161m. I came back today, in the middle of winter and starting early (in the dark at 6am) to avoid as many other walkers as possible. I did the walk out-and-back, doing the caching on the way out; it took 3 and a half hours to get to the rail bridge. The trip back was an hour and a half with no stops, but it did include a detour round the kohekohe loop.
A nice easy find (how many of these lone hint objects are there around the country??) - but I hope we don't get a damaging geotrail up the hill. TFTC.

Went for a walk from pukarua Bay to paekakariki. Stunning view along the way. Some caches were slightly wet, others more difficult to find. Great walk tftc
In Wgtn catching up on family and friends. Monday to myself so its a walk along the Escarpment - Pukerua Bay to Paekakariki. So lets go!
Halfway. Like the sound of that. A bit of a scramble here but its snagged and tagged. Cheers

Started out on this walk early this morning as we knew it was going to be a scorcher. Beautiful track and wonderful views.
Thanks to the two teenagers that were with us for doing a lot of the scrambling up the banks

Heading to Palmerston North and Rotorua to visist my two families for Christmas. Picked up a car in Upper Hutt then abandoned it in Pukerua Bay and walked here.
Half way? And what's with the change in cache name? Okay it was probably laid in two sections, but maybe the cache names should be changed so that they all match - P2P or Paekakariki to Plimmerton (Does it even get to Plimmerton?)
Glad I decided to wear putties for this trip. Difficulty finding a place to sit here, but getting down was easy. Sat on my bum and slid down! Weeee!

Wow, the P2P trail. What a day! After parking the car at Paekakariki and walking to the start of the trail we decided to take our time, we took a little too much time though. After starting the trail at roughly 11am we had finally gotten off of the trail by 5pm. We had some good luck finding caches but towards the end I think TwigNZ and I gave up on the last few.
Nice easy find today.

The Paekakariki Escarpment Track had been high on my 'to do' list for quite some time, ever since it opened. Back in July we tackled it for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it, although at the time we did it as part of a group of Inline Hockey kids (and parents) so we didn't attempt to do any Geocaching on that trip, but promised ourselves that we would come back and do it again as a Geo excursion.
So today was that day. Good stable weather meant that there were quite a few people on the track which made for some interesting times when trying to hunt without attracting attention from Muggles, or 'Pineapples' as was our code word for the day lol.
I have to admit, that whilst I figured the trip would take longer than the previous time, I wasn't expecting to take almost 6 hours to complete the trail. We started from the North with a hiss and a roar, hoping to have zero DNF's for the day, but we encountered a few genuine DNF's (as in we genuinely think they are missing) and towards the end we had more and more DNF's simply due to tiredness from the heat and a bit of a loss of enthusiasm, but our thanks go to Yeetrees for setting up all these Caches, even though some of the hints left us thinking “you're kidding right???” But this trail enabled us to fill in a few D/T chart 'dots' too, so thanks again.
I apologise in advance for the generic log, but there was no way I would have been able to write up each Cache as I went along, so am logging them now in bulk (sort of)
Quick and easy find, and good use of the local environment, although I did think the Cache Title was odd as this isn't the half way point of the walk!
Signed the log as "T & T" for myself and my son (Thatweirdguy04).
Thanks for the Cache

Walking southwards, the day turned out beautiful and sunny. Thanks for the caches, it was a great introduction for two new cachers I was with, and certainly inspired us to keep racing along the trail to the next one.
This series of caches has been on my hit list for the last few days but because of nasty weather it was put off until today. The idea was to catch a train from Plimmerton, where my caravan is parked, to Paekakariri but the trains weren't running so caught a replacement bus. I had a bit of a walk from the train station, where the bus dropped me off to the start of the track.
I went further up the track and then head back through the grass on the same contour line as the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

A quick log to sort out the found its from the DNFS, more later when I get better Internet.
A trip overseas was on the cards with a long haul pencil aircraft trip of 16 minutes had me away from the Mainland for a week and a half on a course in Upper Hutt. Luckily I had a set of wheels at my disposal with big thanks to caching friend wb so I wasn't to be stranded at my digs and able to get out and make some local finds. With a whole weekend at my disposal, I decided on a two-prong attack; Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay trail on Saturday, with a couple of earthcaches thrown in and a planned trip around the headland at Porirua on the Sunday. I managed a repsectable half-century of finds on the Saturday, but the weather never played fair on Sunday so pland were amended. A great walk was had on the Saturday with fantastic views all around and a pleasant stroll which, with caching, took over 4 hours and followed up with a quick 8 minute train trip baqck to get the car. Good time caching in the area, thansk to all the COs for their placements, and therefore my enjoyment.
Did you know that planning has started for a Mega Event in Wellington in 2018? Check out the details on the [WENZ Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event's page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/) and don't forget to log your attendance on the [WENZ Event Page](https://www.geocaching.com/…/GC78NMQ_wenz-event-2018-wellin…)
Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn't be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU. For our bit, all we need to do is find and log the cache that was carefully placed for our personal enjoyment. As we log it we should consider that the Cache Owner also needs to maintain it - when the log sheet fills up, they must replace it. When the container becomes full of water, they need to empty it. When the container is broken, they need to repair it. When it goes missing they need to find or replace it. Well..... the great news is we can do our bit too - make sure your log doesn't take an entire page - just a name and date. If full of water, empty and dry the cache as best as possible. Be careful when handling the cache and make sure you replace it where you found it. If it has a bag, seal it. Just remember - the Cache Owner showed respect to you by placing the cache - please respect them and fellow cachers that follow you by being careful with the cache. And if you have a spare log sheet and the cache you are at needs one, please leave it behind. Finally, if the cache does need maintenance, please let the Cache Owner know - you can log a Maintenance Log or you can drop a line to the Cache Owner. Above all - have fun and remember the Geocaching Code.

We started on the track from Paekakariki on a sunny, warm, near windless day. Just magic for late May. Clear views of Kapiti Island, the coastal villages and across to the ranges in the South Island. TFTC
Geowife saw the loner and I went up the trail to the cache to do the paperwork. Slid down so trail now obvious. TFTC
That climb was almost vertical. There is defiantly a geotrail now because I scrambled all the way up and slid all the way down to the bottem tftc
I will say sorry for the copy and past logs now, we were to leave home at 7.30am so we could get in an early start, turns out we mucked around so much not leaving until close to 8 earning how to use the gps unit (note to self learn and load before a big day caching) stopping for a coffee and muffin and then looking at stuff around town, and trying for a cache up a tree with no luck, so we did it in 5 hours with many stops for the views and chatting to others, and when climbing we were more than happy to wait for people to come down, I personally think it would be easier going in on the north end so you are not doing so many up hill stairs, we loved the walk, as my hiking shoes were still drying for the weekend before I wore a pair of 35.00 sneakers I brought to cover me while my other ones were drying, they did well but feet were killing me by the end, both dad and I loved the walk and all the effort you have put into the caches. - I thought this meant half way through the track
Somehow I didn't load this one when I came through in 2015. I bit of a geotrail to it now.
Obvious where this was & we gave Ace a push up as she has the longest legs Tftc
I scrambled up and shimmied down. The cache trail is now well established - and wider than it was!
Cripes - a steep climb to the hint object and having trouble just standing due to the terrain. Lost my pen on the climb up and wasn't keen to repeat it in the blazing sun but have photo evidence should it be required.
One of the more evil placements on the track. Checked the logs first - saw the word scramble. Checked the hint and saw immediaty where I was headed. Engaged mountain goat drive and up we go. Thankfully it was where expected! TFTC.
#3094. I was at the Mana Island photoshoot event this morning and meet up with Chris (Yeetrees) who said he was off to walk this track. He wanted to check up on the caches along here to see if any had been affected by the earthquakes and heavy rain in November. He asked if I wanted to join him. I wasn't sure as I had to have the car back home by 3pm. But Chris thought we would have the walk completed by lunchtime. Well that might have been a bit optimistic. I would allow 4-5 hours one way stopping to find all the caches and then catch the train back to your car. The weather was glorious and sunny today with light winds. On the way downhill now. I took the direct route while Chris went down the path. Fairly obvious hiding spot from a distance. Signed the dry logbook and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache.
Quite a hard one to scramble up to with a dodgy archilles, but that's where Mr Rattll comes in handy
Left a pet rock - a mouse.
Thanks for this series of caches Yeetrees

Find #2594. Not really halfway as the 5km marker on this 10km walk was the other side of "The Top". Oh well, when the CO completes the trail maybe that anomaly will be corrected. TFTC
Thanks for placing the cache. Quick find on a Sunday walk with the junior cachers.
Found with Tara Ted. A bit of a scramble to get here, but it was always obvious where it was going to be placed. Enjoying the sunshine and the views, thanks Yeetrees.
Located it in the obvious place with edvern after a short climb. Didn't realise their were brassicas growing here! tftc
