Bit of a bush wash and now the rain has started up again+! Been meaning to grab this one for a while!
Nice to finally tick this one off. Overgrown bush whackado gla we didn't try this when it was too muddy (safety jandals were worn here!). Log and container was pretty wet but we dries things off as good as we could. TFTC.
Found it with granddaughter while visiting for school holidays. TFTC.Add an image
Found! Took a while but a great achievement to find it. Thanks for the cache refresher
After being woken up by the earthquake this morning I couldn't get back to sleep so was out the door nice and early to come and find some caches for leap day. I'd been to this park before but was a bit put off looking for this cache after reading previous logs with mentions of blackberry etc. Decided to look for the cache today while in the area and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I must have chosen a good route and didn't get scratched at all. The cache is not in great condition but at least the log is in a pill container and is able to be signed (thanks to Jodanz' maintenance). TFTC
Tricky one, managed to find the tree then find a less direct way in to it thanks to the blackberry
Definitely have to have a good look around!Container was wet, dried out and reassembled.
Alot further in than we initially thought, found the blackberry bushes and then found the Rangiora bush and there laid the cache. Had to guide ShivSD from the front as he navigated from behind.TFTC!!
Came to Seton Nossiter Park on a wet blustery day to find some caches. Very pleased to have worn boots, as the ground was very soft and muddy underfoot. Worked my way onto this small terrace, but, as I approached GZ, I was blocked by tangles of blackberry. Stepped back a few paces, and found an alternative approach that avoided the blackberry, but was still quite slippery after the rain. Found the cache no problem, but very wet inside, as has previously been noted. Tipped water out, fished out the pill bottle with the W/P log paper. Signed, and returned to it's resting place. Tftc!
I tried this last week but was confronted by the black berry bushes.
With time running low, I decided to let it go.
This time, after parking at the hall carpark, I walked further up the water bypassing the blackberries bushes.
Once on the other side of the water, I saw the clearing with a faint track.
I followed it until I was about 3m from GZ. However, GPS was a bit dodgy as it pointed outside of the trees.
Here, I spotted a bag of what appeared to be swag and paper just lying on the ground. I left it there for the time being.
I tried every tree I could until I gave up and PAF, who described the tree trunk. After a bit of a hunt, I almost quit again until I realized I had overshot it by a couple meters. There it was.
The cache contents are pretty wet, but the log was protected in its own container.
I grabbed the bag of swag and put it into the cache.
Loved the water walk but could have done without the prickly stuff.
Cheers.
Sleepy was here!

#182. Found an easy way around to this gz avoiding all the gorse and thorns. Tipped water out like previous entries. Signed dry log in medicine bottle. TFTC.
Container full of water (tipped out) and old log a mess but the new waterproof log in the pill bottle still holding up! Not hard to find, a wee access nook back a bit got me in without prickles. Nose following… Tho container is in the roots of a mahoe, not rangiora as per description.
Thanks for the detour
Thanks for the detour
Went way too high and then lost Ike’s at terrain rating and slipped back down. Wall of blackberry was avoided but struck out today
Prepare for mud and prickles but found it and made geocache friends at the same time!
Got very near it but the blackberrys put me off. No point injuring myself. Rather pointless having a cache in a secluded area but making it really difficult to find.
Tried this one from the scout entrance, but struggled to get past the gorse on the alternate route, so did the waterfall first and then just before heading uphill took the detour off to the left. Took the wrong road and realised we couldn't get to the cache so backtracked and took the alternate route to about 8m from GZ.. Struggled with the hint, but searched until we found a big tree and found the cache totally soaked in the roots.. Luckily there was a smaller container with a drier log that we signed our name. Thanks for the cache.
Water in container, drained, paper damp managed to write, logged and replaced. Dog owners should be responsible as dog poo bags discarded along walkway. They don't seem to care.
A little more than a year ago I ventured into this park expecting to make a few finds, but only walked away with one. Today... I was more successful.
This one I'd DNA'd because of the numourous spiky plants. Today was similar - walk to the bushline, see big thicket of blackberry, turn around - except I wandered down a bit and found another way in that, while bush-bashy, did get me to the cache with minimal prickle. Tftc!

Blackberry not as bad as some would have had us believe. We weren't hopeful of finding this given recent DNFs but found it a few meters from where it should have been.
Placed back under the rangiora about 3 meters from the edge of the clearing.
Log was wet so stuck in a pill container with a waterproof log inside to keep this one going a bit longer.

As previous attempters have said, the area is choked out with both blackberries and gorse. DNA because of this. It could be somewhere in there but I'd need some gloves and clippers to check properly.
Couldn't find, fighting the thorns and the berries. But it was my first geocache hunt.
Thanks for the bush whacking experience! Not sure if cache has fallen from original position but the 'navigate' took was about 10m off!
There is an easy way to this cache and a hard way! I found the hard way!
The cache really needs maintenance. Log is of no use. Left my log details on a scrap of paper.
An interesting area with a history to go with it. TFTC.

Yay got it! But drenched. Hint worked a treat, but could see the cache from the grass. I was originally here for the waterfall down the way, so decided to walk up further to see some history! Will have to find out what it was.
Found it easily enough. A good excuse for a Saturday afternoon walk. Sadly the log book is absolutely DRENCHED.
A quick find in a nice quiet area. Log book appeared fresh, but was absolutely saturated as the container was full of water. TFTC
A pleasant walk on a warm sunny day. Not too many muggles around. We parked at the Mark Avenue car park, not far from the Scout Hall and it was a fair walk to get to GZ. We weren't sure how to get to the other side of the stream which is where our GPS was indicating. Fortunately there was a small bridge and not too far to the cache after that. A quick find after that. Thanks for bringing us to a new area and TFTC.
Got confused working out how to get to the GZ, quick find once we finally got there
Tftc. Nice day out. Cache quite wet unfortunately didn't have supplies with me
This is is nice wee walk. Had to be careful as the were a few walkers around. Found the cache using the hint. I now know what a Rangiora Bush is, so thanks. The cache seemed dry but the log book is soaking wet, even in the plastic bag. Should probably be replaced. Thanks for the cache
Found! Incredibly wet unfortunately so needs maintenance. Also a bit of blackberry around so be careful.
V sharp ascent. I climbed and got it while Laurab6623 didn't climb in the blackberry bushes.:p
An interesting history here Pity the old viaduct has gone Cache container and log very wet Some CO input and TLC needed here please TFTC
Found it.
A morning caching, grabbing some solved puzzles and a couple of traditionals along the way.
Emptied water fron cache - logbook very wet. Needs attention.

I think there was a previous cache somewhere in the area as I remember visiting here before. An interesting area for both the viaduct remains, and the WRC stream detention set up. A quick easy find here but noted that the cache contents and logbook are getting a bit wet.

I was in the area to do another cache and decided to do this one too as the difficulty and terrain level suggested it would be a quick easy grab before it got dark. The terrain level seems a little conservative but not too badly. Lots of water coming down today, I was glad to find the bridge!
Very interesting to see the remains of the viaduct from the path after I did the Viaduct cache (which is still active) some years ago.
Enjoyed reading the signboard about the history.
Giving this a favorite point as this is the kind of cache I like, a well hidden cache drawing attention to something of interest about the area and room in the cache for swaps etc.
Contents were a bit wet but log was OK.
Cache was not covered over by any material other than the overhead vegetation when found, I didn't think muggles would be likely to spot it because of the natural cover so I left it as found. I since noticed in an earlier log that some muggles did find it but fortunately in that case left the cache in place, so perhaps it does need some more cover after all.
No muggle issues at GZ, a few dog walkers enjoying the nice evening but they were on the other side of the water.
Keen to come back and explore the park more and do the other caches in it sometime.

Found this three days ago with nzphoenix and firebird9 on a beautiful evening walk.
Initially thought we were in the wrong area but gps was still pointing this way so all good. A bit of a clamber and cache was in hand. tftc
found with little difficulty, a few thorny bushes but no major problem. thanks for the cache
This right here is basically why I do geocaching. Great spot in an area I hadn't visited before. Getting here was a bit of guesswork but no problem finding the cache which was hidden with just the right amount of cover to make it findable without rummaging. TFTC.
Windy walk today with the PomsAway team and geo-dog. Quick find as it was out in the open. Have put back with more ground cover.

#57 Found with help of friend who is a local, got some inside information about the area on the way to the cache. Train viaduct that used to be here would have been very impressive TFTC straightforward find
The direct wet-feet route was marked closed so I took the longer dry-feet route further upstream. No problem finding the cache because it was a bit exposed when I arrived. It seems some local children have found it recently and signed the log book but the cache is in good order. I tried to add some natural cover when I replaced it. I'm not sure how successful I was.

A quick easy find, once we worked out how to get to the area. It was interesting to see the remains of the old viaduct. TFTC
Had a great visit to this park today with pattismith jr (aged 4) and pooches. Tramped through streams and picked up a nice array of sticks. Pattismith jr liked hearing about the viaduct but was a bit upset that it's no longer there. Finding the treasure helped cheer him up.
