Unfortunately Clark's story has come to an end as the cache has indeed been muggled or stolen.

I enjoy a walk along this beach, so wondered if I would be able to sniff out this cache to prove I was smarter than the previously logged DNFs. But it wasn't to be. I thought that maybe the cache had become a miscreant and failed to obey the instructions in the hint, thinking it would be unusual for a cache to be stolen from here. Searched the ground thoroughly, but still failed. The coordinates had me right under a branch that appears to have been chewed by cattle. Maybe the cache has been recycled into a steak dinner. I parked at Camp Morley in the belief that "private property" means private geocachers are permitted.
And thanks for the really interesting history, anything but amateurish, in my opinion.

Please check. Great cache description...

Walked to spot to no cache in sight, perhaps the cows in paddock ate it, had nothing to replace it with so wrote name on flax and tied to scrub, maybe next visit if its still missing we can replace it

Gap (of Fap and Gap) and I are a long way from home... We are pushing into Franklin District today and looking for caches to put towards some Geocaching Challenges... We also hope to reach some personal milestones too...

The day turned out to be more of a rescue mission. So many caches we visited required maintenance or total replacement. The state of some caches and the frequency in which maintenance was carried out by us was quite alarming. Luckily, we came prepared.

After reading the fascinating story of Clark Picasso, we were eager to find this cache. Unfortunately, we found some links, but no cache. We are mystified by a sudden string of DNFs at Clark's Beach. We wonder if there is someone ruining these caches on purpose.

To my surprise and regret I log a sad blue smilie Sad for this one - been staying at camp morley for the weekend and have walked the stretch of this beach already twice this weekend - so before leaving I decide I MUST see what caches are around and low and behold 5 (I have already walked past)....make my way to this one first having already seen the art work ... quickly spot GZ and start my search .... with the hint in mind I cast my eyes upwards ...change position several times for different angles ...still nothing spotted ... I read through the found logs to get a few more hints and realise I may have to take my feet off the ground ...so begin searching again from 'higher ground' nearly 30 mins later and still nothing spotted i am belwidered as most have said easy find (what am i missing?) I sadly abandon the search and head off down the beach hoping for a find .....I WILL RETURN with the rest of the team and hopefully get that happy yellow similie...

This was fun! We were both looking round fire half a minute or so and then suddenly we both shouted out that we'd seen it at exactly the same moment. No way to know who saw it first

Tide was nearly in, so I risked it and made a dash for these three caches on this stretch of beach. Spotted the art work in the distance, but didn't have much time to sit back and admire it with the tide marching forward. Soon located the cache, and then headed back down the beach for the other two caches before the tide gets me.

Was at nearby Camp Morley at a retreat for the weekend and found this during free time in the afternoon. Had a couple muggle friends with me who I introduced to geocaching, I let them spot the find for me! Wink

Lovely views at GZ. It's a pity Clark was never successful Sad

Thanks!

I had intended to find this cache earlier in the day, but chores and tides were against me. By nightfall I was all out of enthusiasm until GC50C3P was published only a few hundred meters from home. I dusted off the GPS, gumboots and torch and was out the door.

It's a bit difficult to be stealthy when your gumboots are either squishing through the mud or crunching the shells further up the beach, but I knew just where to look once at GZ. I wasn't too concerned about missing out on the artworks in the dark, as I've walked this stretch of beach plenty of times.

Thanks for getting me out on a night-time stroll. FTF #67
