I am archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.

Hi mjmnzThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler

We gave it a good go, but nothing matches. Park at Rest Area.

10-Mar-24
As much as I was excited to look for this one, there is an abundant smell of human faeces around where the cache should be. Didnt want to venture too much. After finding plenty of toilet paper and brown missiles I gave up. Advise people to avoid this one or move the cache to an area where people wont go and defecate.

New Plymouth to Whanganui today and grabbed a few caches on the way. Having had lunch in Hawera we continued on - here we parked nearby and the cache spotted after a bit of a search. Container is damaged and the logsheet not in the best condition - this cache could do with some TLCTFTC Tim and Viv - ddm

31-Jan-24
This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

14-Jan-24
Really cool and well hidden

14-Jan-24
Thank you for that. Fun first go at geocaching

26-Nov-23
Quick easy find thanks

This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

29-Sep-23
Searched and searched with The Wandering Dragons and Violet Butterfly. If it is there, nearly an hour of searching could not reveal it.

29-Sep-23
No joy today, but lots of branch scratching and fossicking.

We spent a lot of time looking for this one as we came from Taranaki to Whanganui. No luck at all, and not even an obvious spot for the cache to have been. Sad Would like CO to check if it is still there, as last find was many months ago now.

17-May-23
Thanks for the cache and greetings from Czechia.

19-Mar-23
Peaceful place when there are no races.

Made this one harder than it needed to be, really over-complicated it. Cache eventually found. TFTC

04-Jan-23
One of three caches we found today on our way to our overnight stop in Hawera. Plenty of room to stop for this one. It was a reasonably quick find. #5713. TFTC.

28-Dec-22

Took a bit of searching. Had a lovely night staying in Motorhome at Waverley beach now on way to Forgotten Hywy

25-Feb-22
I have been meaning to stop to search for this cache ever since it was published. I usually travel to Taranaki a couple of times a year. For various reasons, I hadn't stopped previously but I did this evening as darkness was beginning to take hold. It took me a couple of minutes to work out what was going on. The container is showing its age (it has had a lot of handling after all) and could do with being replaced.

I remember this location also being featured in the film, Came a Hot Friday.

20-Jan-22
With the sunny weather and school holidays it was time to team up with Kelly0 and kids to get some cachers done.

This was a quick park and grab. The cache itself is a bit brittle but so in working order

10-Jan-22
A nice safe place to pull in off the main road and have a break, well ok to find the cache, cheers

20-Aug-21
We went on a hunt after work and found it a a pritty easy spot but it was cool to find

17-Jul-21
Tftc. Been saving this one for a time when a needed a quick grab. We were looking looking, looking, looking everywhere. I was beginning to doubt my senses after the last few days! Put my phone away and ignored the gps coordinates and found it instantly. Geosenses are functioning correctly, confidence is going back up. Cache has become a slater hotel, they were none to happy about being evicted, can't say i blame them in this weather. Tftc.

26-Jun-21
All quiet here today, no horses or trains to see so only a cache to find, which I did. TFTC

24-May-21
Thank you creator this was suppose to be our very first cache as it's the one closest to our home . It our cache number 23.. never once stopped at this picnic area , never knew theese tables were there

30-Jan-21
This one looked daunting. Camo container, and all those hidey spots. It did take a few minutes, but I eventually found a familiar looking container and all was good. Log was in a bag but under a rock, I have put back together a bit better. TFTC mjmnz. We were talking about Kiwi and horse racing after passing a road earlier with the name Lupton.

Day 2 of a 10 day lower North Island road trip, and today it was Whanganui to New Plymouth. We started the day with checking out the Whanganui Saturday Market, with some success, before visiting a few sights around town. Went up the towers, had a great walk around Victoria Park with the adventure lab caches before hitting the road. Found a reason to stop at most of the towns on our way through. Great day, thanks all COs.

30-Jan-21
Located with Ricardinho, on our mini lower - mid North Island roadie

25-Jan-21
TFTC had my husband with me first time and he found it and enjoyed the search..now he is a geocacher newbie.. My 5th find around taranaki..what a cool game..Mumrow

23-Jan-21
Nice cosy little spot indeed. Thanks for a great reason to stop while heading north.

28-Dec-20
Easy find thank you

23-Dec-20
Loved this! Needed a break, heading south - just perfect thanks!

05-Nov-20
We are on a ten day road trip to Taranaki, The Forgotten Highway, Taumaranui, Ohakune and back home to Palmy. Along the way will be sightseeing, short mountain walks, museum visits, a rail cart journey and, of course, geocaching. Day 1 brought us to Hawera.

The GPS seemed out a bit for this one but we made use of the hint and the cache was soon located. It’s often worth just observing and thinking rather than blundering about when caching. We appreciated the site with its parking and searching well clear of the road. TFTC mjmnz.

10-Oct-20
My wife and I along with Arcane Junior are heading up to New Plymouth for a concert tonight. Naturally we planned to do some geocaches along the way!

A nice and easy find here by Arcane Junior.

10-Jan-20
Heading home after an enjoyable week working and caching around the Whanganui area. Would love to see this place with a race on. Thanks mjmnz for so many great caches. Hope to be back some time to clean up the final caches and transform a few sad faces but don’t think it will be for a while.

29-Dec-19
Stopped for lunch at some picnic tables and discovered there was a cache here! What are the odds. Quick find.

17-Dec-19
Had the little one looking and out he comes with a grin he was happy for this find

16-Dec-19
.A quick snag and tag on our way past. Cheers. No races today.

Day 3- Monday, 16 December. Wanganui to Hawera today.
The morning spent around Wanganui picking up a few more interesting caches before heading towards Hawera stopping off at most caches along the way after getting out of Wanganui.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

16-Dec-19
Stopped off here for a visit so that the dragon does not have a green splodge in the middle of her sea of yellow.

09-Dec-19
If you haven't seen this hide before, it could take a while to spot, but if you know this one well, it's an easy one. TFTC

24-Nov-19
Found 10.40am
Day 2 of Squirrel Nutcase and my road trip south, now from Whanganui back to Rotorua.
Mission completed with collecting TMGT caches, and as to day 1, great history.
Will have to come back at some stage as there are so many caches in area.
Thanks to cache owners for the cache placements. SLTFTC

24-Nov-19
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... This weekend’s mission was about completing the North Island leg of the TMGT. It involved a fairly extensive road trip through the Wellington, Manawatu/Whanganui, and Taranaki regions. We also made a plan to pick up other caches along our driving route...

We seemed to be playing leap frog with a tractor out on the road. Stopping allowed the tractor to overtake and get some distance between us. Approached ground zone and spotted the hide. Thanks mjmnz and TFTC.

20-Nov-19
Nice,I spotted it!

19-Oct-19
I am now on my way to Wanganui, but I still have time to grab a few as I travel. I kind of knew what to look for, I just didn't see it at first. TFTC.

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of this event - you won't want to miss it!

13-Oct-19
We tried for this one on our way up to Hawera yesterday and approached from the racecourse side. By the time we were close to GZ we realised we were on the wrong side of the fence but a couple of muggles were having a picnic close to the likely hide so we decided to leave it until the return trip today. Muggle free late on Sunday afternoon we were able to search unhindered and soon found what we expected. All good here today TFTC

29-Sep-19
Looking around for a while, then reading the logs, which gave me the crucial hint. TFTC!

22-Mar-19
Finally back in the Naki after been away for a month down South, stopped here for lunch, so have to combine the two, quick find and a nice sandwich I made, tftc

04-Oct-18
All quiet here today, despite the races being on today. A few horses went past but unseen whilst we found the cache. All good and replaced as found.
T F T C mjmnz

First full day in the area after arriving fairly late yesterday evening. I wanted to improve my spare Taranaki caches, have only found 3 in that area before and that was over 10 years ago -back in the day. So we decided to head out towards Waverley and grab a few and so it was. Got most we looked for and saw some interesting black-sand beaches too. Thanks to all the CO s for their hides.

I have had some holiday leave booked for a while now and we are heading North on the ferry, along with the Cache-Qai, and off to Rangitikei to visit our daughter, her partner and our son. First time this many members of the family have been together for a few years so should be good. The plan was half day in work followed by heading off after lunch, then arriving early evening in W(h)anganui to catch up with kids. We're on the North island for a week so there will sure to be some cache found whilst in the area. My Marlborough and Tsman finds have been inching slowly but surely towards my Manawatu/Rangitikei finds but this trip will be sure to redress tha balance again for a few more years I'm sure.

30-Sep-18
Nice easy find thanks.

30-Sep-18

Cheers

26-Aug-18
Quick find here while driving past with tmann421 today

14-Jun-18
A very pleasant place to stop for morning coffee. Unfortunately the cache was in three pieces and all very wet. We dried it as best we could and put it all back together, fingers crossed it will last until the owner does a maintenance run.

14-Jun-18
The cache is in need of maintenance. The log is very wet and the plastic bag needs replacing. We didn't have any good log sheets with us today to do any running repairs - sorry.

14-Jun-18
This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

02-Jun-18
A perfect hint. No racing today, so no need to get dressed up. Signed as Team IE. TFTC

04-Apr-18
Pulled up in the parking space and there was a Kiwi in carpark trying to get his phone out of the car door - his daughter had dropped it in there. Luckily I had my geocaching toolkit with me so had the tools to help as he had to take the internal part of the door off. The phone and cache were found and off we went on our separate ways. Thank-you mjmnz for placing this cache for our enjoyment. Out caching with Will of the Wisp on our “Round the World in 80 Days” trip to celebrate retirement. Signing logs with our names or initials depending on space. Greetings from England, TFTC.
