Love the historical background for this cache, and an appropriate container - thyme and matagouri in bloom.
CaptainVimes and I have crossed the pond to attend the Geo Toroa mega in Dunedin and tour around the South Island for two weeks.Missed the turnoff but it was worth turning back for. One of the best I've seen in NZ so far. Thanks Guzzi Riders and happy caching
Weve been called to no less than five taverns today because of tap-related disputes. Apparently, someones been going around Ankh-Morpork installing fancy new taps, and now half the citys in an uproar because they cant figure out how to get the beer out. These new taps come with temperature control and anti-drip mechanismsbasically meaning theyre impossible to use unless youre a certified locksmith.Carrot, of course, finds the whole thing fascinating. Hes decided to make it his mission to teach people the honor and patience of the perfect pour. As if Ankh-Morporkians have patience for anything that doesnt come out of a bottle with a cork.Meanwhile, Nobby got his hands on one of these new taps and tried to rig it up at the Watch House. Claims its for everyones benefit, though I suspect its more about him trying to sneak in after-hours pints. Detritus accidentally yanked it off the barrel on his first try, resulting in a flood of ale that half the Watch had to help mop upthough not without testing some first. All in the name of duty, of course. As for me, Ill stick with a plain old bottle, thank you very much. If I have to battle the plumbing just to get a drink, civilization has gone too far.
Herr Potter laughed out loud. So I knew it was going to be good. So clever and out in the middle of no where. Thanks for the fun!Herr Potter and I are in New Zealand to attend the geocaching Mega-Event that takes place in Dunedin. We started the day in Queenstown and picked up a few caches along the drive.
Oh, you can squeeze water from a stonewith the right infrastructure!Frau Potter and I are visiting New Zealand for the first time. Our first week has been cycling from Queenstown on the Around the Mountains cycle track, with various side trips including kayaking in Milford Sound. We are enchanted by the birds, the landscape and the people! This weekend, we will be in Dunedin for the geocaching mega event. Were looking forward to exploring there, too, and hearing lots of geocaching adventure stories!
#3999 Today is day 19 of my geocaching vacation in New Zealand. I'm driving from Wanaka to Te Anau today and finding geocaches along the way. Found it! The side road was bumpy, but my SUV seemed to be OK. I took a rocky route in and found a better way out. The cache was pretty creative. FP given.Log was full.Guzzi Riders, thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 19, 2024 @ 12:40:43[GC511K8] Water Force (Central Otago) was a D2.0/T2.0 Other Traditional Cache at the time of finding.
Pulled off the highway and was soon very glad I had a high vehicle as the track was quite bumpy. Reached the parking area and found that a campervan was parked there, but there was still plenty of room for my car. Off I went, in search - first tried one way, then went another. Tried to keep out of the view of the man using a metal detector fairly nearby. Came close to GZ but nothing really caught my eye, but looked and ventured further round and there it was! But how to extract the logsheet? Finally worked it out, signed the log and returned as found. A definite fav from me. TFTC.
Cache 1727 Had to come and check out this high favourite cache while I was in Cromwell. A quick trip in the rain and I was soon at GZ had to have a bit of a laugh very clever cache well deserving of another point, cache is in excellent shape T4TC
Out and about enjoying the hidden gems of our country. On a cool Central Otago day with no fog or frost, enjoying the new Matariki holiday. Having never been this side of the river we are enjoying the views TFTC it was definitely worth the walk and Fav point. No pictures to ruin for others.
No problem getting to GZ and the cache made me smile. I have seen a similar one in Christchurch. TFTC and have a favourite for your creativity.
Visited here with Nelzarama on our way to the airport. We thought we spotted an obvious spot for the cache and headed towards it. There were a few thorny bushes around as we scrambled up to where we thought it would be. Once we realised we were still a little bit off GZ we headed down and found a goat track and soon were able to find the cleverly hidden cache. Awesome hiding spot TFTC
Heading through the gorge with Kubabelle on the way to Queenstown Airport so I could fly back to Ballarat. The number of favourite points here had me intrigued so we made the stop. Initially we scrambled up the wrong area but we quickly realised and went to where we should be.It was there we spotted the clever hide.A favourite point for the effort and the hide. Thanks for placing this fun cache
# #7,037 #----------My mum had mentioned this cache to me due to the gorge and suggested I checked it out. So I added it to the list. Parked up nearby to see one other car here. Geocachers? Nope, a couple sunbathing. Worked my way carefully over the rocks to GZ.I dont want to say much more or give anything anyway so Ill offer my favourite point and say well done to the GZ for creating something so simple, yet so clever and amusing at the same time. TFTC!!! ----------> All geocaches are signed as mmmPIZZA or mPZ
Found after a nice afternoon stroll along the river. Hillarious! PF well earned.
What an amazing cache! Love this idea! Here with a muggle friend who actually found this one! TFTC!
Had a bit of a whirlwind tour of Cromwell today doing jobs and grabbing caches. This one was a bit of a mission - I assumed it would be in the other striking local feature, but followed my gps and soon had a cache in hand. We returned by a more obvious path and found a local observing the slip that came down across the river last night.Tftc!
Thanks Guzzi Riders for the cache. Its #1839 for us. We found your cache on Wednesday 15 November 2023. What a super cool geocache! Very inventive and a well chosen spot too FP from us today
Dropped into this cache because of the number of favourite points. Worth the stop and a favourite from us. Thanks for taking the time to put this cache here.
While travelling between Cromwell and Queenstown today we stopped at the Kawerau Gorge to take some photos and find this cache. As we were approaching GZ we spotted a cyclist wandering around and wondered what he was doing. It turned out that he was a fellow geocacher. Nice to meet you, hookedNZ, hope the rest of your ride went well.
TFTC Guzzi Riders; we enjoyed this unusual fun cache and will also give it a fave.

Was trying to figure out why there was so many favourite points when i first arrived there, and after a short search, i realised why. Awesome cache, very creative. Ill be adding to the favourite points for sure. Tftc!
This one was tricky because my GPS slightly mislead me. Just as I wanted to give up I saw something VERY odd in this environment Danke fr den Cache! Thanks for the cache!????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Yay! Thanks for the clever and silly cache! Came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache Thanks for being part of the adventure!
Down in the South Island on a roadie from Northland, with Dodge 1923.... interesting history and wonderful views everywhere. Loved the hide...clever LOL....Thanks for the hide.
Day 3 on our holiday in New Zealand. On the way from Twizel to Te Anau, we also visited this traditional cache, found it, and signed the logbook.

Glad to have hired a 4WD for the entry to this little track, we delighted in our scramble through the rocks and wildflowers to find this ripper. Tftc, a favourite point for our first find of this holiday
About to post a dnf after wandering around for an age. Then I spotted it. Best I've seen for a while.
Mr P and I were delighted to get off the highway and take an interesting walk across the stony landscape. What an interesting cache! T4tc (FP)
Great little cache to get the kids excited for an adventure. All the favorite tags brought me here so I'll add another. Tftc
Fantastic cache. Def gets a fav from me.
I managed to go off line a little so did meet with some prickles but all good. TFTC

Took a small detour to check this one out, felt like we were in the middle of the mountains hunting for it. Definitely built up a thirst after the small scramble, really enjoyed the container. Bonus was the delicious smell of possibly rosemary or herbs nearby? Thanks heaps!
I had planned for today to try to locate and sign off the rest of Cromwell's caches.
Then it was off across the road, under the bridge, and heading towards Queenstown. This track is a bit different from the Cromwell-Clyde one.
I decided to walk the last 500m to the cache and when I came to the GZ I was hoping for something else as the logsheet but no, I will have to wait until I get back to my bike. and pack. Loved the cache container. Definitely worth a favourite point.
Cheers for the cache.

After a full day caching around Cromwell and Bannockburn, I arrived here during magic hour, tired but happy.
I’ve often logged about silly mistakes I make while ca hung when tired, and this was no exception. I made much more of a meal out of this one than I needed to - scaling rocks, climbing back down rocks, getting pricked by rose bushes. Sigh.
Really enjoyed this clever cache, once I finally found it! Very nicely done. TFTC

Great geocache tftc very clever found after looking in the small cave first then Followed the compass to the cache
Having just sampled more than half a dozen wines I got a small case of the giggles as we scrambled through the rosehip wilderness in the middle of nowhere. The cache find was an absolute delight to see and such a great sense of humour! F/p
After visiting a couple of vineyards in Bannockburn we continued on our way to Queenstown and I noticed we would be passing this high FP cache so we had to stop. We parked up close by and weren’t disappointed when we found the cache, definitely way better than a mint tin under a park bench and gets a FP from me.
Went to check on this one as it has not been found for a while. Container and log still in place but a bit of bush bashing was required to get to the cache so we brought the loppers along to do the deed. Take care not to get scratched by the rosehips.
Awesome cache!Found on the way back from Queenstown. Didn’t exactly go the easiest way and got a bit wet going there. Saw it from a few metres away and quickly found. Very fun tftc
I'm catching up on my logging which seemed to have stalled even though we have been in lockdown, my excuse is that I have been working throughout.
Found on our southward leg - day 3. Didn't expect to find that, I wonder what non cachers think?
This started out as a Geocaching road trip to Invercargill to drop off some stuff for the niece and collect some other stuff for Mrs banian. It turned into a bit of a race back to Wellington to beat the Covid-19 lockdown.
We were able to rebook our Ashburton accommodation and ferry ticket to earlier in the week. When we arrived in Picton the vehicle queue was almost a kilometre long, and got longer behind us. Fortunately, as we had tickets we were still able to get on our sailing.

Away for 3 full days and 4 night weekend again, with Rebel98 and Aiden29. We have in mind Queenstown, down to Te Anau, Manapouri, as far as we can up towards Milford and later Cromwell. We had some great adventures and some hot and weary walks and a lot of fun.
Having fun in Cromwell today. Our last day of our adventure sadly. we have visited a big spider with a VW beetle inside it, we have just had some yummy ice cream as well a little further down the road and now we're here!
I chose to sit this one out in favour of getting logs done on the phone. The others tell me this was a pretty cool cache, thanks for that.

Gorby contacted me on Monday asking if I wanted to join him and Rebel98 on a trip to Queenstown for a long weekend. As I already had a week off in between jobs I was free to join them. We travelled from Queenstown to Te Anau, up the Milford Rd as far as we could, over to Cromwell before returning to Queenstown. Many adventures were had and many wonderful gems discovered. We signed with a variation of our own names or R. A. G.
We were heading to Cromwell and finally Queenstown to fly back to Auckland from our accommodation in Mossburn. We passed by this cache on the way to Cromwell, hoping to stop but the traffic was too heavy and the entry was hard to spot until too late. On the return to Queenstown, we were able to make the turn down the track to GZ.
I ended up taking a much higher terrain route than was required as I tried to locate the GZ. Once there it didn't take too long to locate the very crafty cache. I love it! Soon had the log in hand and found a much easier route back to the air-conditioned car.

Aiden29 and Gorby kept me busy climbing hills and walking in 32 degress heat this one was on the Fav list for me so worth taking a look TFTC.
Heeeeeeeeeeeey, very nice one! My Lottikind and I found it and signed the log.

Day 6 New Zealand - Queenstown
With a break in the revolting weather of the past 48hr, we did the luge in the morning, then a quick cheese board lunch before driving the Kawarau Gorge Road for some caches. As some drizzle had returned this afternoon, we avoided the higher terrain riverside stuff.
This was fun, we had a couple of false starts through the vegetation to get to the cache, but soon noted some geotrails and went it. I was looking for something different when Samuel spotted the fun hide. The camo is keeping the log nice and dry, all signed and carefully rehidden. TFTC!

Found today while heading out to do some caches after having a go on the Luge. Awesome Hide, took a bit to get to because we parked in the wrong place.

Thanks for an awesome cache and were our ancestors to this land amazing people. So cool to learn more about the life of those times. Thanks for bringing me here
One of 20 located today en route to Cromwell, as well as in and around Cromwell, at the start of a week-long break in the Central Otago / Southland region.
Took a little bit to figure out where the coords were leading us. Once there it didn’t take long to spot. Nifty cache! Worth a favourite! #2368. TFTC.

Nana and I loved this one. Mum and me went to find it the other day but didn't have GPS working. It was a very cool container and idea, the hint was great. tftc

When we saw the number of favourites, we had to give this a go. Tim's gps had him going much further on but this time Viv's phone was spot on!

Because something or someone had sabotaged this cache and removed vital bits we had to remake another cache. It is very similar to what was there before but not quite as antique. Please replace log and lid carefully.
Day 5 in Newzealand. Today we drove from Te Anau to Cromwell.
A very beautiful Country with lovely places. We were able to find nice Caches and See Lots of interesting places.
Thank you for showing us this place.

Temporary disable. Unfortunately somebody has tampered with this cache which at this point has 60 favourite points. Another cache in the area with similar amount of favourites has also been destroyed. It makes you wonder why. We will have to find a suitable replacement container and log book. Very disappointing as it takes a bit of engineering and finding the right thing. Will consider making it a member only cache once fixed.
Ha, that was a fun one. Very cool idea and well worth a favorite point from us. Thanks for the cache
This cache is Not what is expected! So very well done. Caching my way from Queenstown to Alexandra today, drove past the turn off but turned around at the fruit place and headed back. Well worth it!
Today we made a trip from Te Anau to Cromwell via Queenstown, thereby visiting many new sightseeing locations and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was dry all day long, very cold in the morning and got slightly warmer in the afternoon. Sun was our compagnion nearly the whole trip.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to Guzzi Riders for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Water Force (Central Otago). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
For ist extravagant hide this Cache deserves at least one FP!
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

School holiday fun. Found it with annielin and downsouthinv. A great hind. Love the thought of this one. Thanks
At first I thought "how am I EVER going to find this?!" But all became very obvious very quickly. Ingenious! Caches like this are the reason why I love this hobby so much. Fave point from me, keep up the great work.
Been a busy day doing the fruit loop, and my 1000th find at Dead man's point. We were lured to this one by the favourites count, and we weren't disappointed. Coords initially had me lifting every 2nd stone... but thought i needs to be better than that. Spotted it from 10m and thought that's cool, waited for searchwisely to see before opening. Well done, for a well thought out one. Definitely worth a fav.

Greetings from Tauranga. Delightful walk. Easy find thanks to the good clue! Cache is all good - we got a great giggle out of it & add our well-earned fav point. TFTC
We can see why this cache has earned it's favourite points and we've added one of ours to it's collection. Didn't take the best approach being distracted by the cave, waited patiently for the GPS to adjust but as the GPS insisted we kept going decided to follow and headed straight to GZ, turned in a circle or two and then the ah ha moment. All in good order. TFTC#112

Well to put it simply this was awesome, I even remarked out loud at the end "see this is the type of cache that's deserving of a favourite point!". Approached this one from Wanaka, and was glad I took a good look at the description first that indicated a different entrance area as I wouldn't have wanted to miss this. Geomum and I wandered up to GZ and she was saying how it surely wasn't out here, but I trusted my GPS and when we got there we were treated to a very fun cache. As promised, a favourite point coming your way, keep it up and tftc!
I hadn't read up on this cache before setting off from the main drag where I parked the car and walked along the 4WD road that my car could have managed without a problem What a pleasant cache to find. It took me a few moments to recognise what part was the log sheet as on first glance my mind dismissed it as a plastic projection.
