We have started our homeward journey from Canberra after the Mega, and after overnighting in Bathurst, and our first of two nights in Armidale, today we hunt high altitude caches. Bald Hills Road circuit is our target.
Put in a new Log sheet, just as the rain started to come down. Bummer!
Log signed and cache replaced as found at 11:26 AM on April 16, 2023. TFTC, groovydoo

Crookedpete and I were given leave passes from our respective families for the Easter long weekend for a geocaching road trip. I suspect that this was our families' Easter present to themselves to have a weekend alone without our company .
As members of The Bromance geocaching collective, we are a rather contrarian bunch, so while the main geocaching action was apparently up north over Easter we decided to instead head south from Brisbane. Our main focus was on caches with lots of favourites, good DT combinations, high elevation or sitting sad and neglected with no visitors for an extended period.
After a second night camped on the roadside on the way into Armidale, our plan for the day was to head out towards Mt Hyland in search of a FTF. With that mission successfully accomplished, we headed back towards Ebor. Along the way we stopped to hunt for a few more caches to add to the tally, including this one which helped qualify for an elevation challenge we were working towards. Good to make a find here after 2 DNFs at the start of the trail. TFTC

Instead of heading mega north to Townsville for Easter, Seffnjarah and I planned a long weekend road trip south to Armidale and surrounds.
Another early start out of the swag at our preferred roadside camp site just out of town. The plan today was to cache along the Waterfall Way chasing unloved and high elevation caches with an FTF thrown in for good measure.
Time for some high elevation (for Australia anyway) caches. Finally we made a find after 2 DNF's. Thought we were losing our mojo for a while. Thanks groovydoo

Hi groovydoo,
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 28 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.
If you require more time please be sure to **post a note** (not an email) explaining the situation and how much more time you require. For ongoing issues please ensure you visit the listing and post a new note every 28 days to keep everyone up to date, if you do not then you cache may be archived without further note from a reviewer. Caches archived due to lack of maintenance are no longer unarchived and you will need to submit a replacement as a new cache.

Like others before us we were on a roll until we came to this one. Looked in all the likely spots with no luck, so we widened our search a little and almost trod on a rather large snake!! Turned out to be a python but we were outta there!!!
We became too cocky after the last few so got taken down a peg. Found a likely spot but no cache.
Well hidden by regrowth but find it i did. Ended up with another bovine audience . Pretty colours
Out geocaching today with Wandering Me. Another great find. Thanks for hiding this cache for our enjoyment groovydoo
Left Grafton this morning heading to Tamworth to meet up with DiMorgan for the 29 Feb Souv. Stopped at Ebor and noticed this trail nearby. Setup the caravan at the Pub and set off for these. Nearly at the end and the heavens opened up on us. We were planning on doing the other trail but decided to call it and headed back to support the local pub for a few light refreshments.

I was on an Australia Day long weekend road trip with Pprime, Fangsoki and 1MinniMoo and we had targeted caches in the area which would help us to qualify for a number of challenges.

With Fangsoki, Crew153 and 1MinnieMoo we have hit the Dorrigo Plateau for the weekend - having arrived yesterday we set out for day two through the early morning fog, next up here. Between us we had no issues finding this one.
Side note: motel instant coffee satchets named "E **x** presso Coffee" is not inspiring.
Thanks groovydoo for entertaining me at this location.

1MinnieMoo, Pprime, Crew 153, and I were in the Dorrigo / Ebor Area grabbing caches. This was our second day while in the area.
We enjoyed all of the caches in beautiful area - and appreciate the effort the cache owners put into the caches.

Long weekend....time to get away. I left Brisbane yesterday after work and eventually made it to Grafton. This morning dawned raining with low cloud cover. This put a damper on my original plans for the day. Instead, I lounged around for a bit and had an extra cuppa or two before setting off. As the weather had begun to clear, I decided to follow this trail of caches. Another quick find and sign here. TFTC
I just wanted to burn everything with a flamethrower by the time I found this one. Normally it would not be too bad to find, but the fast growing blackberries and other weeds meant it took me a while before I looked in the required spot.
Found out on a caching day around dorrigo and surrounds, with the main aims the bald hill and deer vale road caches. sorry for the generic logs and thanks for the cache.
Heading North for a short holiday and collecting some caches along the way.

Time to attack the bald hills trail, most caches located after a short search, however a few took quite some time.
Another nice quick find of a familiar camo.

Our caching list for today was brought to us courtesy of groovydoo! Thank you for so many caches to be found.
This Bald Hills run was an easier series of caches to find and the countryside is really lush and green. Our name was noted in each log found and all the containers were in good condition as were the contents.

Wandering around exploring this beautiful region and of course finding some caches. This little series really rocks. [:p] Thanks for placing and maintaining these, groovydoo!
We have been staying at the free camp in Thora with our caravan and using it as a base to cache around Bellingen and Dorrigo to as far as Ebor. Fabulous countryside and we have loved the creative hides on this series which quite often took some time to find. Thankyou groovydoo for placement of this cache and sharing this special spot with us.
Found with my Dad and little brother on our Australia Day weekend adventure....

Continuing our journey out into the sticks now, we managed 11/12 of the Bald Hills Series. The long grass gave us some tense moments, especially as a misunderstanding in my bag packing left me with only shorts to wear.....
Samuel spotted this one, it took us a while too.... TFTC

Find No: 5365. Visiting from Newcastle, staying in Woolgoolga, yukky day so thought we'd head for the hills, had a great day, great picnic lunch and 30 caches in total, thanks for the cache groovydoo!!
A quick park and grab as we explore this beautiful rural country side. TNLN SL TFTC
Geo son went out to grab this one, could not find so geo mum to the rescue. lot's of cows observing our activity.
Major fencing has been done here and trees cut down and pruned and for a while I thought I was going to fail again, but guess what they've worked all around it and the cache is still nicely tucked away undisturbed except to put my name on it.TFTC.

This is our 2nd Day. We are enjoying Today even more than Yesterday.
This is our 2nd Day. We are enjoying Today even more than Yesterday.
Our second series of caches for today. Enjoyed this series more than the other Deer Vale ones - maybe it was just that it was more open country. Thanks so much Groovydoo for the effort you have put into the series. Great way to see the less travelled roads of Australia.
Found 4 more of this series today on a quick trip through. We had a couple of 'didn't look long enough' and 'the farmer is nearby' no finds, but that just leaves some for next time. This is a lovely series on a very nice back road. If you haven't taken the route through to Grafton rather than Dorrigo we recommend it. Thanks groovydoo.
A good find was made. Full description at number 12 in the series. Tftc tnln
On a day trip form Coffs To Armidale and took a slight detour to see how many of these Bald Hills caches I could find. Started late and ran out of light after a couple of caches, and of course had no torch so that added a bit of a challenge. Light was starting to fade a little but after number 11 this was an easier find for me. Thanks Groovydoo.
Decided to have an impromptu weekend away from Newcastle after the floods, so what better time to have a crack at gaining some stats for GC4K8YK NSW Altitude Challenge? It was however made more difficult by very limited reception, which meant all we had on the phone was the map with 30 closest caches and no information. A good test of 'cacher's instinct' - we only had 1 DNF which was pleasing. A fun day out with the kids, recommend the growers markets 45 minutes down the road too - great coffee and waffles!
We really enjoyed the Bald Hills series (as drive-by series go). Some inventive hides, with reasonable variety, and good coords. Nice views, cows on the road. Happy times. Thanks for all the effort.
Another quick find. Had to pretend to pee to throw a farmer off the scent! Lol

Found as part of our run through the Bald Hills mini power trail. While we don't normally go a lot of D 1.5 T 1.5 caches however we enjoyed the county side on our way through and thought the rating on some could be lifted a little. These all qualified us for the NSW altitude sickness challenge. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC. Thanks for placing the series

Today we drove from Ebor to Port Macquarie.
It had snowed the previous night & as we arrived into Ebor there was still evidence laying around in the shady areas.
It was an early morning start 7am & -1degrees. We spent as quick a time at each cache as possible, hurrying to get back in the warmth of the car.
All the caches we found were in good condition & some wonderfull & scenic locations.
