I am archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
I first visited Bason Reserve in 2014 and couldn't locate this one. Unfortunately another DNF today. I note that others have had problems with this one, leaving it in various places. I spent time carefully checking around the area and places described by others, but without success. However the daffodils and pink blossom were beautiful here - indeed a Spring Walk.
Found but not where it should be. Has lost its stick. Found near a post in the open. Replaced near post but covered. Tftc
Caching our way through the gardens following the AdLab trail.
I expect this area looks amazing in spring.
I was back on my knees again following the hint. Then I turned my head sprays and there it was. TFTC

We spotted the cache on the seat arm the adhesive feature has completely given up. We did try and stick it on again but it immediately fell off again( and sorry we don’t carry superglue in our caching bag!) so we have put it under sticks by the nearby tree, as we didn’t want to leave it on the seat arm or the floor under the seat. Hope this is Ok with CO. TFTC

A quick find here, not sure how long the attachment will last. This is a nice spot and deserving of cache placement. TFTC

I have taken the liberty of replacing this cache as this lovely peaceful location deserves a cache and the co does not seem to have responded to maintenance requests. hint still relevant.
twist rather than pull please!
twist rather than pull please!
could not find this one after reading the hint ,also walking down the hill hit a pothole and twisted a ankle flipper now i have a matching pair hand and foot for the day.
A number of us had a good look today, including past finders and past advice in logs, but no luck.
I really wanted to find this cache after reading all the other finds, but just couldn't spot it, despite spending a considerable amount of time in the rain looking. What we did get was soaking wet feet (even with waterproof shoes on) drenched bottom half of our jeans and best of all a meeting with a magpie! This juvenile was under the bench looking bedraggled and as wet as we were; it stayed very still while I spoke to it and took photos. A little later, while we were searching for the cache, it hopped to the bottom of a tree and attempted to jump up it (failing miserably). It then hopped onto the bench back close to me and started talking to me before hopping off to find its parents, which thankfully it did. A beautiful experience! TFTC
Not at all a successful time here. Seat has no secrets and has recently been concreted I’m.
Out with the girlfriend for an evening stroll before we came this way, almost gave up until I used an old photo someone posted to find out where they had been standing and just like that we found it, neat little hide.
I had some magpies to keep me company. I was feeling a bit nervous, lol. as my phone app was leading me towards them. I looked low, but was wary of possible magpies dive bombers from above. but i had nothing to worry about, cause the cache had me covered. TFTC
Tftc. Hubby found it eventually after i read back through the logs. Would love to see itin bloom.
Holiday Time
A gorgeous day to explore the Bason Botanical gardens with the cousins, (too windy for the beach).
This sweet garden would be divine in the spring, though it’s still a calming glade even in the summer.
It took a bit of time this cache and many eyes. We looked high, we looked low, I tried to pull sunken posts out and the nephew almost turned an ankle in a hidden tap hole.
At last the cache was in hand.

Cache # 4,945 - took a while, but eventually locagted this. Some friends had warned me that this was "an evil cache" because of its cleverness, so I knew I was looking for something different. Well done! TNLNSL. TFTC!
I checked up on the cache today to find all is well. For those that have written that the hint is out of date I can assure you it is very much current and correct. The seat has disappeared from near GZ but that hasn't affected or hindered the hide or the hint. You may need to think outside the box if you are using the hint to find this cache.
Happy caching

Second day of my weekend in Wanganui (from Wellington) and before heading home my plan was to visit the lovely Bason Botanic gardens. Slightly overcast and breezy today meant that most of the time I was alone and unobserved, which really is the perfect conditions. Yup, like the last couple of logs - I was a little puzzled once I arrived at the location, as the hint was not right. Once I was able to review a few of the past logs (phone coverage is not great) I saw that the opposite of the hint now applies, and soon spotted the cache. TFTC.
A day in the Whanganui region caching today and spent part of it zigzagging around Bason Gardens. Spotted eventually. Amazing how invisible this was until it was spotted. Thanks for the cache.
After spending a minute or two standing "in the middle of nowhere" wondering where a cache could possibly be - especially after reading the hint - I had a look at the most recent log which suggested the hint is out of date. So I adjusted my mindset and tried looking where I might hide a cache here then spotted it quite quickly. Ironcally the hint is exact opposite of what it should say. It seems like a slightly random place for a cache now but I presume that wasn't always the cache. TFTC.
Well we were a little confused with this one once we got to GZ as there was only one thing to try the hint on and that was never going to yield a cache. Had to resort to previous logs and it was clear the hint was no longer relevant. Expanded the search and then we came up with the goods pretty quickly
I spent a very pleasant hour exploring the Bason Botanic Reserve. A lovely spot to visit. This one caused me a bit of bother, The landscape seems to have changed. I had pretty much given up finding it when I spotted it while standing there waiting for some people to walk past. The hint is past its use by date. TFTC
We approached gz with a specific item in mind only to find that it had been removed. After a minute or two of standing wondering what now, we saw it! Daffodils are in full bloom and utterly beautiful. Disheartening to see a number of people walking straight through/over them for photos.
This took us a couple of minutes. I read what others had said and we soon spotted it. It took a while longer to retrieve the log as there were a couple of groups of muggles around. Made sure to screw up properly again. TFTC!
A day trip to Wanganui to pick up grandchildren gave us the opportunity to get a few caches. First finds since before Covid19 shut us in. A nice hide ina nice place. A couple of months early for daffodils but the yellow autumn leaves on the ginkos were a pretty good alternative. Thanks.

Spending some time in Whanganui as Mr Rubbishparty is working there this week. Today was fine and dry, for a change, so headed out to the botanic gardens. What a beautiful place, thank you for the caches places here. The hint was helpful to find the hidden cache. TFTC
Finally.. after three attempts!! bench seat now completely gone although made no diifferent to the actually hide! trickliy hidden!! a Fav Point from me.
A tricky little hide which had us searching a little while...then AHA!Wrote the log and re-concealed carefully.Made the find with haydn.seek.TFTC!
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Couple minutes of making a meal of it before finding it. GPS wasn't sure and we was looking around the large tree for most of that time until we widened our search. The hint didn't help at all but rather made it harder. Tftc!
With another's years caching experience under my belt, I returned today for another search. It still took me a while to figure out this cache's secret but I got there in the end.
That dam bench! Nearly caught out by muggles while we were looking in the wrong area, Aha moment, thanks
I wasn't planning on checking on this one but I was in the area so thought I'd check it out and I'm glad I did. I found that the cache wasn't properly screwed on which is disappointing especially given that this is a common cache container. Remember with this type of cache it's best to place the log sheet in the lid and then screw the bottom onto the lid.
Beautiful autumn leaves are all around, so pretty! Happy caching

Checked up on this cache with the geo-family this afternoon to find this cache is indeed missing. I came prepared so a replacement cache is now in place.

Waz and I searched for a long time but came up with nothing. Someone needs to check it out and either verify it is still there, replace it or unlist it. It has not been found since June 2018
I spent a little bit too much time looking for this cache, couldn't find anything on/near the seat (apart from a QR code) and my GPS was bouncing me around the nearer trees.
I started the search and couldn't find it, so called on previous logs for any help and it would appear it's most likely muggled.
After attending a meeting in Wanganui we decided to make our way slowly home via the coast road, picking up as many caches as we could. Unfortunately once again we had no luck and the daffodils were past their best. They must have been a picture when they were at their peak of flowering.
I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) So each time I go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will get me closer to my goal
This cache get me one dot day closer to my goal this goal is more of a long-term goal as in the past I usually only went caching on the weekends so I have large gaps in the calendar although I have been making a big effort to get out on the days on which there are missing dots
Out here for a walk around the Bason Botanic garden and collect this cache along the way
Thanks for the Cache

Out at the Bason to collect a couple of previously solved multis as well as the traditionals. Annie's found this one as we were still checking out a nearby seat.
Found the little sucker!! Looked in the most obvious places first but soon widened my searched and bingo!! TFTC
A DNF here but a subsequent inspection of earlier logs confirms my thoughts that I may not have given one idea enough time and effort. I will return, probably with another set of eyes for another go.
Knew from some other logs that this would be a tricky one - we thought we knew what to look for and where to look, but no luck this time
Cunning, very cunning and I like it. Favourite given. Signed Team IE. TFTC
Second time of logging - I forgot to add the favourite last time . Can’t have that happening to a really good cache.

This was another DNF unfortunately
On what is probably the last school visit of the tear as the term draws to a close. after having done the necessary i head ed towards Bason Reserve to try to complete the caches here that have been waiting for some time. Luckily only one has got disabled so that left quite a few to locate on such a glorious (yes summer is actually coming...here?). Starting with the Tennis one which was a easy find and nicely placed. I then drove around in a loop locating the others with two DNF! The multi Then and now was a delightful cache amongst all the lovely first bloom roses and amongst the gardening staff!. Thank you for the caches here and a good excuse to enjoy such a beautiful reserve. It must be one of NZ best

Day 5 of my NZ trip (already ?) and the weather was very pleasant today and should be OK for the remaining few days. Today I was in and around Whanganui. Before lunch I visited Mowhanu, just up north and then the Bason Botanic gardens which has quite a few geocaches. After lunch I slowly headed back into town via Nobby's Grotto which has some very cool caches and then a few "urban" caches around town. I should have found a lot of caches today but my eye was not "in" today and I missed heaps. Perhaps the only downside of the day.
Didn't find this one. Clearly too good for me.
Thanks anyway adventure collectors

My 200 cache and all satisfying. Almost dnf, then aha! Love the caches that make me feel proud! Tftc
Down for an impromptu visit to Wanganui for a couple of days.
We took the opportunity of the nice rural roads with no traffic for a driving lesson for youngest son, as we dont have roads like that near Tauranga.
We called in here for a slow cruise around the loop road and of course I had to find a few caches while we were here.
I didnt have the right shoes with me today, so slid down the hill to the obvious feature. I was certain that it would be here and the other logs suggested a cunning hide, so I lay on my back and searched thoroughly. When I decided to trust my instinct and thought "where would I hide it", I made the find, pretty much exactly as I would have hidden it.
I like the way you think.
Thanks Firewoof for the thrill of the hunt and TFTC.

Great hint

Today Ninalila and I are visiting some places around Whanganui.
After a walk along the beach, we decided to stop by the Botanic Garden to see some plants and find some boxes
We tried 2 times to find this one but nothing
Our only DNF in the botanic garden
We signed the logbook with our team name: lekiprokos
thank you for the cache and the discovery

After yesterday's adventures here at the Bason Gardens, I'm back to Finish the Job - especially to grab the puzzle cache for the third Mission Impossible challenge.
Carried on walking along the biathlon route with the participants huffing and puffing past me, but they didn't proceed down here so I was able to hunt in peace.
Concur with previous finder about the difficulty to find. So clever TFTC

Teamed up with Sunju after staying the night in Wanganui for a work event. After tying up a few loose caches we'd individually been having trouble with in Wanganui, it was time to head out of town in the direction of the main event of the day - the Meet the Flying Dutch"men" event in Mowhanau. We made a plan for the day to make the most of the time and that we could arrive at the event at the prescribed time. We decided to head to Bason Botanical Gardens - I'd been here previously and collect a couple in the park, the rest I had to leave at the time as it is quite a busy area in the summer.
This one I had to miss on my last visit as it was a very popular area with muggles - and rightly so, such a beautiful park. this time, we made our way through the flowering daffodils to the likely spot. Had a look in the likely spot, but to no avail. Turned our attention to other items in the area, but were still having no luck. Sunju PAF for a hint and then found the little cache - must be a very difficult find in the summer. TFTC

In Wanganui for a work event on Friday night and having stayed over we (Push 'n East and I) took the opportunity to join up for a day of caching before attending a caching event just north of Wanganui.
Loving every minute of this beautiful reserve it was a thrill to be here when the daffodils were in flower. It is simply gorgeous. We spotted the seat mentioned and soon made our way carefully down the hill so as to not step on the flowers. Expecting this to be a quick kneel and grab soon had us scratching our heads. The hint was laughing at us to say the least. You know the feeling when you think it "HAS to be" and you just look again and again and again expecting it to magically appear. Finally phone a friend for a hint who took a moment to remember and then giggled and gave me a small hint. Dah ... and there it was! Nifty and clever. TFTC.

A beautiful day today to go around the gardens on my bike to check up on my caches. Interesting to see the cache container fading in the elements. All is well with this cache though and the daffodils look amazing.
Happy caching.

Thanks awesome cach wasn't expecting it there but reading clues from others helped(hobbits lol )
#! $^&**/$, unfortunately our first DNF in New Zealand! We'll be back to have a further look!
