Wwll, there were so many "obvious" places, it took me a good 15mins of tramping up & down but, finally, it was uncovered. TFTC
Out on a night time adventure with MsSmokeyBear. We decided to clear up as much of Upper Beaconsfield as we could for an easy run locally. Figured we should find this one of hers now and make sure it was still in play. TFTC
Out to do some caches with beckgiz to wrack ip the numbers and try out the new truck :3

Second find of the day today with Nyochi, took a badge and Nyochi took the geocoin. An easy find here today. TFTC!! ??
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Team Smokey-Bear for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Out with geocache hubby on the last day of 2022. It’s late afternoon and still hot but we decided to get to a few more caches before ringing in the new year.
Thank you to the CO for placing this cache. As usual the search was enjoyable
We were the only crazies around!

An asylum for drunk females (or a way for males to get rid of their wives??) How very interesting.. We have come along way since the 1800's. The closure of the Metal intitutes in the 1990 is another interesting topic of conversation. I have a few stories to tell from a friend that worked at Larundel.
I think i secretary wanted to actually go and explore this asylum,
Cache was located on the other side of the fence ..looks like an animals has been using the cache as a teething ring.log signed.cache replaced back in original location.DGS pathtag and pins sighted they are still there. Go get them.

What a great service, an Asylum for Inebriates! Why on earth would they close such an establishment?
After our previous DNF, we are back for revenge. Checked the obvious location first, then the 2nd most obvious spot. Bingo!
Cheers Team Smokey-Bear.

Sadly not today, did not find at 1:30 pm
Out and about grabbing a few more geocaches today, hoping to get about 20 or so but that all depends on my luck. A combination of park and grab and walking between determine my success.
Nope, nothing obvious today
**Thanks for placing this cache Team Smokey-Bear**

We checked the obvious, then the not so obvious, back to the obvious, then walked around in a daze for awhile. Two caches today, two DNF’s. We are taking our bat & ball and calling it a day.
Thanks anyway biggles1024 and his nemesis Team Smokey-Bear. Shame the place has closed, I could have used the service a few times in my life:)

Found it after golf with Fore! In honour of our faithful caching pal - Huxley.
Found on leap year day in honour of my geopup Huxley who is no longer with us. The main reason for caching.

Out on a Sunday hopefully to put some smiles on the map, also trying to get through my solved puzzle list.

Visiting from Colorado and staying with my parents in guys hill, great to find some local caches, retrieved a trackable and will take him on a big adventure
Never knew about this even though Mrs Papi has been visiting around this area for years. Should we be concerned that you do? Thanks for the cache and history lesson.
Found on a quiet morning with nobody around. Located in the first place I looked which was nice. Cache in good condition.
Out and about last Tuesday with Trailstevo and whilst staring at the map I spied a little walk (with some suggested hills) and a few local drivebys that needed some attention. Off we trott on the warm evening and on arrival realising that I had been here before, which I soon realised why. We completed our circuit, collected the clues and picked up the mystery cache. Then off to some country roads for the other quick finds but we did decide to leave one which had a dog nearby and as it was late we didn’t want to concern any neighbours. Thanks Pinkpiggy7 and SmokeyBear for the fun and adventure, think we scrapped through double figures which is not bad for a Tuesday night!
Out with Gunks for the first serious night of caching. Did a loop around for 5 caches then a bunch of drive bys. Nice night for caching. Decent walk early. TFTC
SuperPop had come down to visit us for a few days and even with the forecasted unpleasant weather we were determined to try and get a few caches for the day before the heat really set in.
We thought that we would try and pick up a couple more in this series as we made our way down the hill home from Emerald.
We were only aiming at caches that weren't too far away from the car as none of us really wanted to go for a long walk in this weather and these caches fitted the bill.
We approached this area with a feeling of de-ja-vue and after reading the cache page we realised that we had been here back in 2011 with The Grim Jeepers to find the V1.
We parked and followed the GPSr to gz where we missed it on our first search but got it second time around and happily added our names to the log.
Thanks for keeping this one going.

This seems to be a busy area considering the road it is located. During my brief visit there has been 3 cars and a cyclist. Not what I would expect for the area. Very nice cache at which I was able to collect a trackable and drop a trackable. Easy parking and cache in excellent condition. TFTC
Find #4520
About time I headed out on an early morning pre-work caching run so it was off to Upper Beaconsfield before first light. I had managed to bag seven finds already and was thinking of turning back towards work. This cache provided a nice diversion back down the hill and so I made a small diversion (made a little longer by missing the turn down Telegraph Road on the first pass) to swing past. Pulled in close to GZ (my city 4WD doing the job just fine) and set about searching for this one. Tried the wrong target at first but didn’t take me too long to adjust and make the find. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Team Smokey-Bear. A nice spot that I have never visited before and a very interesting story of the asylum.

After that bunch of puzzles I did prior I thought that I would go and grab this little cluster of two caches before going back out into society and grabbing some fuel for my car. So before that I may as well take a detour and grab these trads. Both were quick and easy finds and I was happy to turn them into smileys. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.
Quick find. Wasn’t sure about the scrunched up TP near it and the bad smell though
I had been in Melbourne for a few days attending to some medical appointments and today I was heading back to Bendigo via an event in Echuca. As I didn't need to be in Echuca until 18:30, I spent the morning caching around the hills north of Pakenham.
I had an enjoyable morning finding thirteen before I needed to head north, with being just one of them.
Thanks Team Smokey-Bear for placing this cache.

Since moving from New Zealand I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
The caches I’ve found in Australia so far have for the most part all been in great condition. Keep up the good work.
Cache in good condition.

After Doing Many caches today and a Nice Lunch fatigue is starting to set in . T4TC
Our family was doing Relay for Life with one of our sporting groups and there were enough people around at lunch time that I thought I would sneak off and grab a few caches while I could.
This was the first on the list and I first looked in the obvious place but missed it. After checking a few other locations I went back to the obvious place and it was quickly found on the second look at 11.50 am.
Thanks for the cache biggles1024 and Team Smokey Bear

Out for an evening drive MontsII and myself decided to stop for this cache. After missing some Roos, we came across a dance, and I was worried we were on the wrong side! Thank god we were not, and soon had the cache in hand. TFTC Team Smokey-Bear

After a surprise visit from my mum at lunch time my caching time was cut short so instead I took a short drive down the freeway to this area to find a few caches for a couple of hours.
Heading back home now so took a slightly different route to get this one on the way. Initially I did dismiss the obvious location and headed way too far into the bushes before back tracking for a nice easy find.
Thanks biggles1024 and his nemesis Team Smokey-Bear for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

**Traditional Cache Find #1868**
I've been keeping this cache for a day on which I needed a find and today is such a day. After performing some maintenance on a cache in Beaconsfield, I headed here for what I had hoped would be a muggle free experience. Imagine my surprise when I turned into a drive way in order to turn around only to discover that the car following me, wanted to turn into that very drive way.
With the turn complete, I hurried to GZ and, well what can I say? Found it in the first place I looked.

Thank-you to Team Smokey-Bear for placing this geocache

Haven't cached for awhile but really felt the need to get outdoors today. Couldn't convince anyone to join me today so set off by myself and had a great afternoon with no DNF's for a change. Always love a little local history thrown in. Would have been a tough and isolated life for those women up here at that time but now what a pretty area to live in. Quick find made and log signed. TFTC and lesson.
Slowly finding all the caches in Upper Beac. Cruising through tonight I decided to take a different route home past this one. Nice easy find just on dusk. Nice quiet area. Interesting read on the asylum. Thanks TSB

I had a feelig that I had looked for a similar cache before so presumably it was the original This one was a nice easy find and interesting to read of things gone by.
This was a quiet peaceful spot along the back roads of the area. The weather was ideal and I enjoyed exploring a location that I had not visited before. As I drove along further I could imagine maybe what the area had been like a long time ago.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Nice easy find, awesome driving around here. Signed log and left a Lg smiley magnet TFTC
Now after the flack I incurred the last time I logged a cache that I had owned previously, I would like the caching public to know that I only owned this cache for about a week, I did not put it in nor did I visit it during this time. Despite my name appearing in the ownership list if you click on that link you will see that Team Smokey Bear actually owns this cache.
So interesting find, cache in good condition.

This cache has taunted me for a while. I have driven around the area but not down this route to sign off. Parking was a bit tricky in my low-bodykitted car but managed to find a place to pull over safely for a few minutes. The cache was found quite deep in it's hidey hole. A bit of a struggle was needed to eject it, so I replaced it in an easier-to-grab position.
Thanks everyone for maintaining this cache and for the interesting history lesson.

Thank you so much for bringing me here, Team Smokey-Bear! A nice, easy find and then we drove further down the road to try to see what is left of the original building, which I found a photo of on this website: http://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/30000
Quick find after spending a couple of hours exploring the Haunted Gully gold workings. Nice obvious find,

Well where do I start this cache brings back memories of .........my nooby days very fond ones at that I would have a tipple or two to Commemorate , but I could get locked up and publicly stoned for my errors , so I now take over the reigns from the legends of this cache THANKS to my mate Biggles n Day n The Swaggies for the honour xx
Walnut Grove Asylum V2 was transferred from The Swaggies to user Team Smokey-Bear
Nice quick drive by. SL, TFTC. Forgot to mention the nurf gun we left for another cacher.
It was a race to see who could spot it first and little Quadbash won. Tftc! Easy to find
Great quick one, didn't have to leave the car as geo boys were onto it quickly. What a brilliant way to spend this glorious sunny day on a non-school day. TFTC
I had been meaning to do this one for a while and someone I was chatting to the other day mentioned a web site that had history about this area and was telling me about an unsolved murder in the 1920's. I mentioned there was an asylum nearby and we checked the website and they had a bit more info about the women's one here http://www.oddhistory.com.au/guys-hill-ub/inebriates-hill-the-female-asylum/
So I decided I'd better get to finding this one, so after dropping off the Geokids at school I detoured on the way home to grab this one. Thanks for some interesting info I had no idea about in the area I love and a beautiful, classic cache hide to add to my growing smiley collection

Found it! I needed to fill a gap in the calendar so I decided to find this cache on the way home from work. A very nice drive through the country side to GZ. The cache was easily found as it had fallen from it's hiding place. SL and placed it back into it's secluded hollow. TFTC TBs visited too.
A great littel spot I don't think I would come here after dark given the history! TFTC
Thanks Biggles I need a cache for today and cause it is one of yours it is the one. SL
The travel bug here has been sitting for a while, so decided to pick it up on the way to a job, and will help it move on
Saw this one had been replaced... After my last effort was a DNF, I had a little time to spare today and made my way to GZ quickly with geo-daughter in tow..
There was a car parked close by do I acted the wildlife lover and took some pretty photos
Again TeamThommo would be proud (she's a bit of a nature lover).
As I've been here before I knew what I was looking for, muggle turned her back, cache retrieved, log signed and TB left.. Put it all back and in record time :)
Thanks Biggles for this little ripper!!

I love the history of this one, I can only imagine what it would have been like to have been sent to such a remote location to sober up. TFTC.
Nice and easy thanks for the history I never knew! A cache item was left on the ground near GZ it was a nice little clue TFTC

We found this cache today at 12:55pm as number 7 of 11 on our Tour of Upper Beaconsfield. We found the original cache almost exactly 3 years ago today and today we took a trip down the same road to complete the double. Thanks from D, HA, H & A B-A
Found @ 9:18pm, find # 3287.
Out and about out East tonight and without my usual caching partner on a Friday night, biggles1024, so I thought that it would be a perfect time to came back and find the new version of this one and sign the logbook again, it was an easy find as I already knew where it is.
Signed log and headed off to the next one.

Thanks Biggles1024.
Thanks Biggles1024.
My 6yo daughter found this one as we were too busy reading history this was her first find she loved it
Nothing like searching at night on your own on foot to get the juices running ... Noises in the night .. Great cache !! Thanks
A warm and windy night tonight as we did a run around the hills and suburbs cleaning up a few new caches. Thanks biggles1024 for the cache.
On a very winding but warm evenine Rebel Acts and I did a little clean up run through Melbounre collecting newly published caches. Not a great night for numbers but 170km on the dail at the end of the night. Thanks to all the CO's for their placements.
After a bit of a lull this month in cache finding I decided to make a bit of a mends and find a few on the way home from work this afternoon. After completing the previous incarnation in my very early days of caching (I didn't realize then I was supposed to grab the clue for it's bonus cache either). I headed off to this one today. It's an interesting history that this one presents. Being a bit of a history buff, I am pretty sure I have narrowed down the approximate placement of the actual asylum, which for some reason is not along Walnut Grove at all. I will endeavor to do further research. Thanks for the cache Mark.
